I've never seen a company take a reservation online; change the address, make multiple calls to confirm the online reservation, refuse to take a credit card over the phone to confirm the reservation - then - Call the day of your appointment (because you had to make an appointment) to tell you that the unit you reserved is not available "at the reserved price" - BUT - the same unit is available at a far more expensive rate. Classic scumbag bait and switch. Went down the road. Its a smaller unit, and more expensive but at least its reliable. Won't do business with this org anywhere from now on. read more

New renter at Public Storage. The best things about this place are the employees, specifically Katie and Justin. Showed up in a hurry to get things taken care of. Katie was friendly and polite. She listened to my needs and seemed more concerned about my budget than just getting a new customer. Justin was informed of my need to hurry, i had 10 minutes to get done and on the road. He had me through the process in 9 minutes. The negatives about the place are the confusing numbering of the units and the location. Not the easiest place to get in and out of. read more

Don't store anything here you care about! Employees are great but security is about zero - there is actually a crack head trail through the back section with the low fence top worn out from people jumping it. I had my entire unit cleaned out of expensive shop equipment and the process of dealing with their horrible required insurance company continues. The fact that two adjacent storage units were broken into a week before, and the PD telling me that there was at least one call a month should be enough to send you elsewhere. read more

This place was fine until our unit was broken into a couple of weeks ago (Sept. 2015). The thieves broke into the unit next to ours and then peeled back the cheap aluminum wall between the two. The staff was very unhelpful, basically putting the onus on me to do anything about it. I decided I would end my lease because I didn't trust leaving my things here anymore. I asked for my September rent back and they gave me the run around about how I "signed a contract" and needed to "file an insurance claim" after *I* filed a police report. Terrible customer service that sealed the deal on me ever doing business with this company again. So in summary, if you don't want your stuff stolen and rifled through by crackheads, don't store it here. read more

Just okay. It's the most decent price within a reasonable distance from us in Columbia City. We were quoted one price, shown a different price on touring, and then they raised the rent after a month... Pretty deceptive. When we rented, the elevators were broken. You either needed someone on the top floor to call it up to get your things to your unit, or you had to use the stairs. They had no estimate on when they'd get it fixed. They did... months later. I'm researching alternative locations to store our things. Customer service is here and there, occasionally someone is super helpful, then the next time just really difficult to deal with. read more

Good rates. The management is very attentive and friendly. They called me back within minutes of me making a reservation online. They honored all the discounts and deals I found online. They were very helpful and informative when I went to see (they showed me) my storage room. They take you in a golf cart to see the storage facility so wear a coat if it's cold. Not much of parking if you have a trailer in the front but once you have a code and a storage room, there's lots of room around the property. And they're right off the freeway which makes access super convenient. I highly recommend this particular storage site. read more

Lousy accessibility, as hours changed so now I can't get in until 9 a.m.! That's crazy. I do business, thus if I need access to any materials, I have to get them during business hours vs. those times when I need to grab my books or display racks and run. Yes, if there are challenges with theft or security, then bring on cameras. Location seemed great until the hours changed. Last time I was there I sat for over 15 minutes, trying to get out, as the gates / access system locked them all. Finally one of the employees guided us to a back exit and manually opened those gates. Not good. I will be moving within the next month...as I must. read more

The location is great and the facility it huge, it is generally pretty hard to get someone on the phone however when I walk in there always seems to be someone available. The hours of availability to my storage unit make it very difficult to access. I work from 830 until 5 sometimes later. I have to work to pay for a unit that I can only access during the weekends basically. I do not understand there reasoning for not wanting to pay for the needed staff to accommodate the customers. I was informed this was a recent change and feel it will hurt them in the long run. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. I have a 10 x 10 unit. The facility itself is fine- . The business practices of the organization are terrible ( rip off). The rate of increase for the unit is mind boggling. I now pay twice what I started with; meanwhile they charge rates that are really much cheaper for new customers. I asked to close out my unit and take a same size cheaper unit. I was told that is against policy. I would have to totally move out and get off the system and then I could get the cheaper rate. So they get you in and then begin the process of gouging you by rate increases that are specific to you and not based on inflation. This might be good for a short term rental, but for longer term someone else might be more honest and fair. read more

I have had a storage unit at this location for a year but needed something a little bit bigger, being that I have so much stuff. Initially, Ashley helped me find the proper size unit. She was very accommodating and kind. I realize the next day that, that unit wouldn't work- so Mauricia and Erin helped me with the paper work. All three women are very professional and are there to help. They make having a storage unit at this location,fun.. Mauricia, Ashley and Erin are always smiling and polite to customers. Come on I can purchase my own(oh wait you HAVE to purchase theirs) And I should have the right to refuse insurance if I don't wish to have it, thank you very much! This is my first time ever using a storage facility. The experience was quick and easy. The facility on the outside looks secure and clean. The inside is also relatively clean and storage units look "like new". Customer service was quick and helpful. My first visit was with Dezi and she was a pleasure to work with and took time to understand my storage needs. The other associates were also helpful during my couple other visits. A couple reasons it's not 5 stars were money related. Public Storage requires you to purchase a monthly insurance on top of your monthly rate. I'm assuming this is standard for most storage places. it would have been better to have it as an option instead of a requirement, but I understand the reasoning. Secondly, the lock that comes with the unit is something you have to purchase since it's unique to the set up these storage units have been built. Overall, I would recommend using this place. The location is convenient being next to the freeway and a little south of downtown Seattle. It's also a large complex, so it makes it easier to bring in moving trucks and vans. read more

Quick & easy experience. Tasha was very professional & knowledgeable. We toured the properties and Tasha showed us which unit was best. I had a few questions and she answered all of them (flood, security, insurance..). While in the office I went online and reserved our space (its a little cheaper online vs. going in). Tasha locked in our unit (the one we saw during the tour), signed the contracts & that was it. Also, during the visit I brought my 2.5 year old. Tasha was very attentive, she offered crayons & paper and interacted with my daughter. A great experience. Thank you Tasha! read more

I have been a renter here recently for three months, but I have used this storage facility several times since 2007. "Andrew and MLK Crew" are friendly; they are always immediately ready to help you. Keep in mind that this place is called PUBLIC Storage, not EXECUTIVE SUITE CLUB Storage (I'd like to see if someone came up with that idea). There have been several times when I would come and one of the bathrooms was out of order, and the other one was something out of a really bad horror movie. Last month the other bathroom was fixed, but something smelled fishy (not metaphorically speaking). It would be a good idea to get one of the outside units, and pass on using the bathroom here. read more

Anthony was really helpful - the rate for an outside roll up unit was great, and the property is clean. The staff are great. Downside - the hours are really tight - I get that it helps reduce break ins but it makes access difficult when it locks down at 5 on weekends and 6 on weekdays. Planning on switching out the stuff in this storage for business supplies we need less often. read more

Horrible experience and I'm a return customer. I rented a 10X5 unit last October and needed a smaller unit for extra stuff yesterday. Not only I didn't get a special $1 first month rent because I'm a current customer, I had to pay the same admin fee and insurance for this tiny 3X4 unit just because I need a little bit more room for my stuff. I guess the more you want to do business with them, the more extra you have to pay. I should have taken my business elsewhere instead of giving them more business. They talked me into buying their locks last time and I wasn't impressed as it's very frigid and hard to open. When I came in yesterday Kierra convinced me to buy their locks again. I was hesitated but she explained that it's more secure with their locks even though she couldn't lock it the way it suppose to be. I fed up and used my own lock when I filled up my storage and planned to give back the lock for the money. When I came in to the office, Kierra was there and when I expressed my concern about the lock and wanted to give it back. She refused and said our police is no refund on the locks without even a bit of apologetic. I didn't hear her mentioned anything about that the day before. What a scam, dishonest way to do their business. I'm going to do my best to get all of my stuff out of there as soon as I can. Ugh read more

Update: I first rented my 10x10 space in September 2015 for $124/month. It's now June 2019 and my rate has risen every year to its current price of $175/month. I'm looking forward to cleaning my space out in a few weeks, turning in my key, and never using Public Storage again. read more

Nothing against this location or the local staff they've always been helpful and personable. Last week I found a rat infestation in some blankets and a mattress in my storage. I had accidentally left a backpack in the storage facility with a couple old (at least 3 years) mini candy bars in it that rats found at the end of December. I promptly removed them along with the backpack but continued to have an escalation of rat feces and urine to the point the blankets and mattress were ruined. I had the company offered insurance and immediately called to make a claim. When they called back I was declined a settlement because of the candy I had left in the unit but had been removed 6 weeks prior. Meanwhile there are huge gaps in the concrete flooring and at the base of the side wall (my unit is on the end and daylight shines through when the door is closed and light off). The adjuster was unfriendly and unhelpful. I hope they do better in the future with customer service from an insurance standpoint. read more

Over the past several months my roommate and I have rented 4 units here. The staff is nice - this rating is in no way a reflection upon them. As other reviewers have indicated the security at this facility sucks in a big way. My roommates unit was broken into today because the door between units are crap (you can literally unscrew it by hand). The wankers from the unit next door (delinquency tag on the door) busted through the door and took EVERYTHING. We took pictures of the security cameras that are pointed the wrong direction and a well traveled path from scumbuckets walking down the hill to let themselves in through the back fence. Hours later when the police showed they mentioned this location has a lot of theft. Unless you want all your stuff stolen by dbags don't rent a unit here. read more

Awful customer service! When we arrived, we were shown the unit we were given when we made our reservations online. The unit would not shut and when we asked for a different unit we were told it was going to be more expensive for a unit the same size. I guess they charge more if it locks securely. read more

Kevin Bridges, the regional manager is not only unable to return phone calls, but he also will auction your belongings and put a lein on your property without following the current laws in seattle for renters. Kevin Bridges is a poor regional manager and I would recommend his firing as soon as possible. read more

My husband and I had a great experience with the Public Storage staff! We rented a 10x10 unit here for 2 years to store our seasonal, camping, and personal items. The staff is super helpful, and always really nice. Ask for Thomas, Kierra, or Natalie! They have gone out of their way on multiple occasions to make sure we were happy and our needs were met. Our unit was indoors and climate controlled, so our items were always safe and undamaged by the weather. The only reason we are leaving is because we moved down to Tacoma, WA. read more

I have been dealing with this location for over a year, helping a friend move from one unit to another, and then rented a unit for myself. I don't understand the previous complaints - when my friend's outdoor unit was broken into, they contacted her immediately and stood by while she inspected the contents. They also allowed her to move her belongings into a space inside the building with no penalties. She has been behind on her rent a couple of times, but had no problem getting the PS lock off when she's gotten caught up. Every time I have been there everyone has been helpful and friendly. I have rented at three different Public Storage facilities, and these guys are actually the nicest. They *should* warn people that if they follow someone else in through an open gate that they won't be able to use their code to leave, however. I learned that at a different facility, so I know now. Also, and this is purely personal, I NEVER sign up for any kind of auto pay from anyone. They have many options to pay (online, over the phone, in person), so it's not like you have to sign up for auto pay. I was out in the wilds of Northern California several years ago, and still managed to get onto the internet to pay my bill every month. read more

Very dirty facility with horrible customer service. I left some items behind and once I got home and realized I called but the staff was quick to let me know they closed in 5 minutes (7pm) and that they would set my things aside for the morning. The guy made sure to tell me that they normally don't do that and that I could be fined for leaving anything behind. I told him it was a mistake and I would be back the next day. Show up the next day and no one knows what happened to my stuff. I never got my things back and was told again it was my fault for leaving my stuff and I should be happy I'm not being charged $500! I feel stuck renting a space and would love to relocate if it didn't cost so much. read more

I just rented a space from them last weekend and expect to be satisfied. A couple points worth noting, however. First, when I called, I got an estimate of how much I would pay upon going there and signing up. There was a $1 for the first month special going on and I was told I would pay the $1 for the first month and the one-time admin fee of $22 plus tax. When I arrived, however, I was told I needed to also pay for the first month of mandatory insurance (anywhere between $11-$15, depending on which plan you choose) and the one-time charge for the lock for the unit ($17 plus tax). These are not excessive charges, by any means, but something I wasn't told ahead of time. I do not appreciate hidden fees. Kim S. was who toured/sold me the unit. She was kind and informative. However, she may have been moving a bit too fast for her own (and my) good as there were a couple of crucial details she almost forgot to tell me, had I not remembered to ask. Specifically, the door code to enter into the unit was almost left off my copy of the information provided and, also, she did not see that I had put back a tape gun and would have charged me for it had I not asked her to break down what was a relatively expensive bill. Regarding the tape gun, this is another area where I felt like Kim was moving too quickly. I almost ended up purchasing many more items than needed, had my boyfriend not been there to slow down the process. Kim's quick ability to sell the product made me feel a little rushed in my decision making and also made me question whether she gets commission for the products she sells. Having worked in sales myself, I understand that the best salesmen are the ones you don't see as salesmen. I felt slightly sold to. With that said, this location seems safe, secure and organized. As of now, I have no qualms with storing my items there for the next period of time. Here is hoping no issues arise! read more

My company rents few units here. I thought it was going to be a giant pain since my company abruptly told me to come here with little information. To my surprise everyone was prompt and courteous (thought they were going to hassle me) and Anthony, the guy who helped me even walked me to my units. The place was huge. Only complaint I had... if I had to pick something was that their bathroom wasn't very clean, but that has nothing to do with their customer service LOL. read more

Jim, the guy who showed us around was very nice and as efficient as possible going over all the paperwork. Only gave the place 3 stars because our unit has a strong odor normally associated with mold. Jim said that was because it is an outside unit that is not heated. My garage isn't heated and it doesn't smell. I'm not storing anything that can pick up the smell so we took the unit anyway. read more

The people who work in the branch are not so helpful. However, the people in the branch office are competent and if you have a problem they will help you out. One time in particular I had a dispute over a rent increase, and JR from the regional office really helped me out and gave me the benefit of the doubt. That made a strong impression on me. I stopped by here on my way home from work because I'll be moving in two weeks and needed boxes. I was helped by two gentleman, Rory and Anthony, and they not only helped me select the boxes I needed for the number of rooms I would be moving, bu also showed me about things I didn't even think about, like a cover for moving my mattress. They both had an excellent sense of humor, and turned what would have been an annoying chore into a fun experience. Anthony even helped me carry the boxes to my car.
