I was not even a day late on my payment and I got a $93 surcharge on a $178 payment. Then I pay in full, and three hours later I get an email with a lien notice on my unit. Then when I call customer service, which is impossible to talk with a human, she tells me to ignore that threatening lien notice and that the systems aren't connected. What garbage. The property manager of this location may be congenial, but this is a horrible customer experience all-up that is clearly designed to gouge customers. read more

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is ... IS RIGHT!!! I booked it online and they recommend coming in a day before to get situated which I agree you should! They have this huge banner hanging up saying the first month is $1. Yea right!!! They seemed fairly unorganized the guy kindly took me up to this storage unit he was talking up saying I have a PRIMO location right off the elevator. Then when he told me the price I flipped out cause it was double what I reserved, turns out he shows me the wrong unit. lol So he shows me my unit which of course is all the way in the back around the corner and down the hall. He then tells me it is required to buy their lock $15. We get back to the office and they tack on the admin fee $22, at the very end they add in the required insurance $8. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman. Just plan on spending $50 which isn't bad but I would have rather known up front! next month will be around $90 for their 5x10. Before you go they have you make sure your ridiculous 8 digit code works for the gate, good thing I did cause it did not. I had to walk back and forth 3 times cause they were having some computer problems. Moving is never fun but this just made it even worse! read more

We paid this place to ruin our stuff. We needed to store our stuff for a very short period of time. We called to see what their prices were. They told us one price and ended up telling us a different price when we showed up with our stuff. This shouldn't been the first warning. After arguing with them for nearly 45 minutes, they gave us the price they told us over the phone.So we move all our stuff in. When we came back to pick up our stuff, we took the elevator down to the bottom basement only to discover the entire basement floor was covered in water. There had been flooding in the building and it flooded their basement units. This would have been aggravating but it got even worse. As we're are moving all our stuff out (so we could take it to the dump and pay the dump to dispose of it), we talked with another couple that was moving their stuff. They informed us there had been flooding previously in the basement. This was more infuriating but it still gets worse. One of the employees was strolling around the basement, chit-chatting with people, apologizing, etc. We asked this employee why they didn't call when the flooding started. She denied they had flooding previously and said when it started it was only in a small part of the basement. It seems obvious that flooding in a part of the basement should be a cue to call people. It gets worse though. When we pushed her more on why she didn't call us, so we could move our stuff before it was ruined, she said they don't have a staff to make phone calls. She then proceeded to stroll around the basement, talking with other people. In other words, she continued to not make phone calls. And it gets worse... We asked them to refund us for the amount we paid to keep our stuff there. They refused and told us if we wanted to be reimbursed we'd have to claim it with insurance. In other words, they still make money and see no negative repercussions from their incompetence. Instead, the insurance company is screwed and we have to go through the hassle of dealing with a claims adjuster. The total cost we incurred for our stuff being ruined: - cost of the unit - cost of purchasing new items - cost of taking ruined items to the dump - one day of wages because one of us had to take a day off we hadn't planned to move and salvage what we could Don't use this place. I dislocated my shoulder so I was unable to move until my friends were able to help out. Turns out, 1 day past their last move out date is too late, even with extenuating circumstances. At a prior storage company I was given 10 days, they arbitrarily pick 6 (who picks 6? It's generally 5 or 10) and because my wife signed up, who has never gotten one before and didn't know the rules, we were out of luck according to the manager. Which btw, was very crass on the phone. She was rude and didn't even try to help me, just tried to get me off the phone. Not only that, I called the district manager and never got a call back, they don't care about their customers at all. I've had stuff stolen from a prior unit that public storage owns and I have only been treated poorly by these people. There are lots of storage companies in the area and I'm never renting from these guys again because they treat their customers like garbage and only think of them as a number spitting out money. read more

BEWARE OF THEIR POLICIES THAT CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. Only a month ago, I confirmed with a staff member that my rate would be prorated if I moved out by the 6th. IT WAS A LIE! They are trying to charge me for the full month. This has always been their policy as I have had multiple units over the years with Public Storage. After I asked to see where I agreed to the updated policy, they said they can change policies without notice or acknowledgement. Poor security. My storage locker was broken into. Someone drilled out the lock. Public Storage did not have security cameras that would show the break in. Neither did they have adequate monitoring to detect someone using a drill on a lock. The thieves put their own padlock on my storage locker. Public Storage could not provide timely assistance with removing the foreign padlock. They literally said it could be a week before the person who cuts locks for them could swing by. When you sign the contract, you are required to exempt them from responsibility for theft. They give the impression of security but not the actual fact of it. Public Storage did not apologize or offer even to waive my last month's rental when I moved out 2 days after the start of the billing cycle. By the letter of the contract, this is right. By the spirit of good customer service, I think this is terrible. If security is a high priority for you, I can't recommend this location. Ask questions about how they prevent thieves who've legitimately rented a locker from roaming the building and drilling out locks. And don't let them spin the question with assurances that theft is rare. I won't give Public Storage another dime, at this location or another. read more

You get what you pay for with this place. The rent on my 10x10 unit was inexpensive but that is the only thing I would consider positive about my experience in the 6-7 months I rented a storage unit there. There was constant transient activity (usually just one or two but sometimes groups upwards of 7 people) from loitering to drinking alcohol openly on the street and inside the complex. I tried complaining to the staff there to no avail. The rear gate broke on at least three occasions with one of those times leaving the rear gate inoperable for about a week. The bathrooms on the individual floors we sometime locked up but the green indicator portion showing the bathroom was vacant was showing. When the bathrooms were unlocked the transients sometimes used them without locking the door or leaving it open. I did not remove my lock from the storage unit when I moved out yesterday and just received a call from staff at this location. The message that was left for me was almost impossible to understand including the phone number to call them back at. I tried dialing the number they called me from but it went to what I believe to be a fax machine. I then looked the number up online and called the first one I saw which directed me to another number, and when I called that number it finally gave me the number to reach the office. When I reached someone at the office I had to repeat my last name numerous times and was hung up on by the staff after they asked me to come down and remove the lock without answering another question I had. The staff is alright in the office but I never had a pleasant experience on the phone. When I initially checked into the unit I was not told about the monthly insurance cost or the fee associated with the unit lock. I booked online so this is more of an issue with the online booking. The charge for the insurance was actually more expense through the storage unit than it was from my insurance agent. I would not rent a storage unit from this location again and would not recommend this location. I'll put up with some inconveniences to save a little money which would've given this location 4 stars but once you factor in the poor customer service this is 2 stars location. read more

My storage unit was broken into and completely filled with garbage and boxes from other units in the same hall as mine that were also broken into. When I went to the office after reporting the incident and to let them know the police were coming to file an incident report they told me there was no way for them to pinpoint the timeframe of when the break in occurred. I let them know I come to the unit once a month so it was recent and they can check how often my gate code is entered. They said there was nothing they can do but did say immediately, "you're staying in the unit right?" .... ZERO accountability or security. Know this: they get you in on an advertised price, once in they will raise your rent significantly (for us $30 after only 4 months). They don't value steady income vs. jacking with people. I have used their move-in special to transfer units but hopping around the building is not worth the effort for the money, I am done giving these guys income. The storage facility is the f-ing worst location at any hour it doesn't matter. It's a near accident if not an accident entering the front entrance lot may just occur. That's just a small portion of my complaints. I realize they have operating hours we are to follow especially when the doors conviently shut lock down giving you very minimum time if any due to there hours of operating closing at 6pm and weekend 5pm even. This gives me no actual time to gather much due to my work schedule and commute to the storage facility. Despite some having some computer errors and some strange people coming through,the front desk workers were really nice and helpful. They scored me a great deal for my unit- even better than the one I reserved for online! I trust the unit will work to keep my college stuff safe and sound for the summer. I just wanted a small unit (5x5) to store some items taking up space in our apt. I looked at several other companies but found their pricing to be a little too high despite decent reviews. I prefer this location in particular since it was close by and they recently added a new building which meant more sizes available. I reserved a unit online so we could take advantage of the online pricing which was about $10 less. 5 minutes later I received a confirmation phone call to book an appt. for checking in, a few emails and another confirmation call the day before move in. Nice but a little overwhelming. The day of check in I didn't expect to move anything in because I wanted to see what we would be getting and I was pleasantly surprised. You get an individual gate code that also works with the elevator. The elevator will only go to your floor and no one else's. There are two elevators (one is a freight) and they have several carts available for use. The overhead lights are motion sensitive and you have access up until 9pm. You have to purchase their cylindrical lock but you can always add an extra personal lock as well. Not a bad idea if are storing costly items. Our unit was open at the top with netting to provide air circulation which was unexpected. I've only ever seen outdoor units in the past. As a woman I felt safe in the building alone... but ask me a again on a dark and stormy night. You are required to purchase insurance for your unit, we went with the lowest price since we aren't storing valuable items. Check with your renters/homeowners insurance to see if they cover storage items, if they do PS will refund your cost and remove it from your monthly bill. Erin was our guide through our check in and she answered all of our questions and was very pleasant, she even laughed at my jokes (extra points). They had a little trouble on the computer with our final transaction and we were given a temp code until they could run us through the system again. Looked to be a computer glitch for the day as the next couple had a similar issue. Within two hours I got a phone call letting me know everything was taken care of and my personal code was ready. Side note: I read an earlier review from 3/7 where a person had the previous owner's med supplies delivered to his unit by an unknown person and was understandably upset about someone having access to his unit. I imagine the staff can access any unit but a delivery person should not be able to. Again, add your own lock if you feel unsure. read more

First time dealing with a self-storage place and I was amazed at how easy and seamless the process was. Per the other reviews, there are unexpected fees...like the lock fee of $18, the admin fee (but they tell you that online when you reserve a spot) and then the rental insurance. If you have renter's insurance, check to see if you have coverage for offsite storage before you go and then bring proof and you can skip the whole discussion. Dolan was really lovely. Super professional and made the process very easy and quick. Definitely recommend. read more

It was great when I signed up a few years back, long open hours, carts to help move things but now, now the prices go up and the features go down. You can't get carts unless the office is open (which is at 9.30) because they're all locked up, the week day hours are from 6am to 6pm, so if you need something during an evening, just forget it. Weekend hours are even shorter, 6am to 5pm, and you won't get a cart during weekends either because no-one is around to unlock them. The location is easy to get into, but hard to exit. There used to be too exits, but the secondary has been broken for years with no sign of ever getting fixed. So, if you need access to your stuff during hours at work for you, and you need a cart to help you move stuff avoid. read more

After 6 months of renting here, they jacked up my rental rate 17.50%. The local manager said that it was his corporate rates department and that he can do nothing about. Corporate says that they believe that it is fairly priced. So........after you move everything into storage they raise the prices. MICE! Stinking, pooping, nesting, disgusting MICE. We had household items stored for about 1.5 years while we remodeled. When we moved out of the storage unit the boxes and crates on the top row were covered with mice poop and urine. I have a picture of a mouse that I took the day we moved out. Totally bold sitting on the wire right over our unit. Not even scared of us. They chewed through the cardboard and called a box with clothes home sweet home. Had to throw out some nice items and a couple of sentimental family things. I asked for reimbursement for the items we could save by having them dry cleaned. I got the run around from the Manager, Dub, who lives onsite and "has never seen a mouse". The District Manager never returned my calls. And don't believe them when they say the rent increases are small. read more

Can I give this place 0 star? I saw the shit reviews for this place before moving my stuff in but still chose to do it out of laziness. I'm staying away from this corporate for the rest of my life at all cost. Thank goodness there are more and more small business start to pick up the storage business also. This review is not for this location only but public storage as a public traded company. What's the crap with "we can increase your rent whenever without noticing you"? Yes, they increased my rent by 25% out of no where. Also, one can prorate their rent when moving in but not so when moving out? What's that about? It's because they knew people can't just move out exactly at the last day of the month and the management feels like they'd be damned if they can't take advantage of those suckers? I moved out in the first half of the month but they charged me their whole 25% higher monthly rent. When I asked them about it, they quoted me this crap from their contract: "Please be advised Section 2 of your Rental Agreement states, "... Occupant understands and agrees that under no circumstances will Occupant be entitled to a refund of the 1st month's rent" and it also states, ".tenant shall not be entitled to a refund of the pro rata portion of the unused rent."" I can't be entitled for a refund of my unused rent. Lol that sounds so fair. Can the lawyer who drafted this shit fall asleep at night? I'm curious how come no law firm is picking up a class action suit against this company yet, feel like there is big money to be made here. read more

I'm paying $140/month. There are other options, but Public Storage does have a very good reputation. For the most part the facility is good, the one downer I will say is that they make you pay for insurance. I'm not disagreeing that insurance should be mandatory, but the only plan they have is for $8/month, $1,000 deductible, with only $2,000 coverage. Really??? This is how they will nickel and dime you. This is actually the WORST storage unit I have ever used. Let me tell you the multiple things that are wrong with this place. 1. There is an extra mandatory $20 fee for a special lock that they do not tell you about until after you come to move your stuff in. You can't use just any regular lock, it has to be their specific lock. If you know that upfront it's not a huge deal but it's extremely annoying that they don't say anything to you about it when you reserve your unit. It is literally false advertising on their website saying the total price is one thing and then adding an additional $20 fee once you move in! 2. There is ONE elevator per building and it has a 2 minute delay so when someone gets off the elevator it will take at least 2 minutes for it to come back down to you. Due to this, people hold the elevators on their floor and load it up and then you have to wait for them to unload the elevator before you are able to get on it to go to your floor. Makes for an extremely slow process. 3. The cart situation.... We asked if they had carts upon moving in, they said yes. When we went to move in, there were 2 people using carts so we went to the office and asked if they had any carts available and they said they were all in use. We couldn't find any available carts so we had to move in without. When we moved out, we again went to the office and asked about carts. It was 5:02pm and we were told that they have carts but we weren't allowed to use them because the office closes at 5pm. They said that there have been cart thefts so they longer allow you to use the carts unless it is during office hours! (There are no signs anywhere stating this, by the way) So the carts cannot be utilized while the office is closed, period. Which is ridiculous. So we go to move out of our unit without a cart and we see someone else using a cart! We go back to the office and ask them why someone else was able to use a cart and we weren't allowed to and they said that the person was being evicted so they could use the cart after hours. ?!?!! Makes no sense! I feel bad for leaving a 1 start review but I feel like it is justified for what I got blindsided with. However, if you know all of these things in advance then I feel like that could make the situation maaaaybe a little more tolerant-able, but I guess that's up for the reader to decide. read more

There are no words to describe how shameful my experience has been here... But for the sake of a review, I'm going to give this one my best effort. So for the most abbreviated of overviews... Signed the lease for my unit at the start of December, by the first week of January was notified that (SURPRISE) they were tearing the entire building down, meaning- I had to be completely out of the unit by the end of the month. I was then transferred, to another (smaller) unit across town. For the same rate. At this point I'm back in school (with an internship, a senior thesis and part-time job to boot), without a means of transportation, and pissed beyond belief. Really Public Storage? These massive renovations plans were just sprung on you? You couldn't bare to mention that the building was undergoing a massive overhaul in the immediate future? That ONE MONTH'S rent was seriously worth inconveniencing a trusting customer beyond belief? Beyond matters of business, profit, whatnot... How does someone goes home and feels good about their day's work when operating under these ethics is beyond me. Unfortunately, there was really no other option available except to get my belongings out before the whole place was reduced to rubble. So this process entailed: 1. Requesting a day off of work (no, really- it's okay. I wasn't actually interested in paying my student loans anyways.) 2. Renting a U-Haul (Roughly equivalent to one month's rent right there.) 3. Inconveniencing friends with the task of helping me haul my entire unit in one load (Public Storage doesn't allow you to leave either unit unlocked. And I'm not looking to throw down the $20 they tried tacking on for a new lock at the second unit to meet protocol while in transit. Especially after putting that money down a mere 34 days before... Nice try, bro.) And most significantly 4. Paying ten-fold through the physical and mental strains caused by the literal reenactment of an extensive packing, loading, unpacking process, completed one month prior. All in compliance with agents who really don't give a sh*t anyways. And of all the units that line those never-ending corridors, I have no doubt that my case pales in comparison of severity. Absolutely nobody has the time to deal with such a lack of general decency. Furthermore, I'd also like to give a special shout out to Public Storage's very own Collin McBride for being arguably the most pitiful douchebag I have encountered to date. After personally leasing me this unit (Good one, lowlife), and being generally languid during each encounter to follow, he had the gall to watch me struggle to lift a box (solo, small girl here) and subsequently tip over a piece of furniture as he stood by nonchalantly stuffing his face... To which he responded to with "Oh, yeah. I guess I could have helped you, huh?" No sh*t Sherlock. Needless to say, I'm disgusted that my hard earned money has gone towards your paycheck. All in all, I would urge any one in the market for a storage unit to keep driving right on by... Your best interests are not of any concern here. Your money would be far better invested in an office that holds some semblance of respect for your business. read more

I rented a storage unit and was told by the employees that I needed to purchase a cylinder lock in order to use a storage unit. It didn't have to be their own $20 lock, just as long as I had a cylinder lock. I purchased my own for $9 and moved my things in. Today I got a call from them saying that they had thrown away my lock since it wasn't the correct fit, and that I needed to purchase their $20 lock in order to access my things; until then I'm locked out of my unit. No where in the contract paperwork does it even mention a lock as an item needed to access your unit. So far no one from the company is contacting me back. As you can tell from my axe grinding, I'd recommend avoiding this company. read more
