I just recently moved out, as things have gotten shadier and shadier around there. The security/safety around the building has become questionable, especially with the RV camp out back. With that said--the worst part, frankly, is the owner. Charlie is his name, and he basically refused the pro-rated refund that 3 people working at his facility ALL said I would receive. I did a speedy move out April 16, as the manager there told me I could get the pro-rated refund if I cleared my unit out asap, rather than wait until end of month. Great! Sadly, I never received the refund, and even thought the 3 different employees told me I should get it--Charlie apparently refused to follow through, telling his manager "we don't pro-rate". But... all 3 of your employees told me you do...!? When I asked to have Charlie call me directly, I was told Charlie said: "I don't talk to customers directly." I explained I would warn people on Yelp if Charlie doesn't bother calling me back, and his reply (through his employee, since he doesn't talk to customers): Fine, post on Yelp. Additionally, when I rented a U-Haul from them, the gas tank was not even filled. Apparently owner Charlie keeps just a quarter tank in there, claiming it's due to the RV camp stealing gas. But... he will penalize truck renters if they don't return the truck at exactly the maybe kinda quarter-ish level the tank had. Makes it real hard for truck renters to fill up ONLY the amount they use. Hmmm... SO... Be warned. Charlie the owner does not follow through, and frankly does not step up when he should. I moved to another storage facility that provided better rates in a more convenient location... and a safer location. I didn't realize perhaps the best benefit to moving: not supporting a shady owner. I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because of the years of good service I had when previous management was great, the place was more secure, and shady business practices didn't impact me. I guess owner Charlie's integrity was lost in parallel with the decline of the community around there :-\ Buyer beware--think twice before using 1st Ave Storage.

You use a code to get in and out of the buildings and the property. The staff is there during business hours unless they are helping somebody on site. The site manager is very helpful and thorough, she has a natural gift for problem-solving! I also interacted with Linda several times: She walked me through all my options, helped me pick the right size of unit(s) - I had 2 of different sizes - as well as change the locations of my units. When I had movers on site, Linda helped me deal with the logistics. Fantastic service all around! Highly recommend!

They allow you to borrow a truck on your move in day, it was extremely convenient if you're able to return the truck before the end of the day- this was no problem for us with their Saturday hours. The security seems good, I have no fear for my possessions. The after hours access is the major game changer, the big chain in Seattle area has horrible hours for folks who work traditional business hours. I've been able to stop after work, after dinner with friends, weekends, etc. and their location right off 405 makes it a quick trip from when I'm coming from the east side or seattle. So stress free- will continue to use stor house even though I don't live very close to them!

He was helpful and oh so knowledgeable he wanted me to be completely happy. Justin was not working the next day and there was an older gentleman name Jimmy (I believe) and when I walked into the office...he just looked up at me and stated rudely "our internet is down and it's going to be a while" --May I also add that he was on HOLD on the phone so he was just waiting not speaking to anyone... So I said I just had a question nothing to look up on the computer and then he said in a very curt fashion "It doesn't matter it's still going to be a while"...wait so you are telling me that you are on hold-not speaking to anyone and I have a question that you do not have to look on the computer for and you and I are just going to stare at each other (it was a quick yes or no based question, it didn't even require that much thought)?? Then I went to my locker and found that they had forgot to take their lock off my storage unit...so I went back up to the office (ish) and I just sat down in the chair until Jimmy was ready to his his job and take his company's lock off my unit so I could actually store my things in a unit I was paying for. He finally gets off the phone...and I blankly state that I need their lock off my storage unit...then he tries to explain why he was so rude (their internet had supposedly been down for hours and he was stuck on hold)....So you were stuck on hold and you were frustrated...I get it...very dramatic...but 1. don't treat your customers like garbage because you are having an off day...2. I stated my question was a yes or no...no internet or computer needed...just answer my question. If you come in make sure you are dealing with Justin...not this individual who clearly needs to be retrained.

I do not recommend using this storage facility. They' offer excellent introductory rates but will…read morerapidly raise your rental rates by large percentages. The late charges are also exorbitant. The property manager was polite until the move out after raising rent over $150 since move in. Then she told us we couldn't hold the door open for the movers. Rent somewhere else if you don't want to have to move again within a year to an affordable unit.
