To anyone thinking about using a storage facility managed by Public storage PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS CAREFULLY BEFORE! I was told by customer service that prices would not increase more than 8% a year; but after 4 months my storage unit went up in price by 54 dollars (a 33% increase) without there really being a reason for that. I would not go with them anymore at all. On top of the price hike, the floor I had my unit on smelled of dead mice or rats. It was that cheesy really bad smell that was in there for the 6 months I rented; it never went away. The opening times are inconvenient for someone who works all day. In short: look for a better and serious company; the only nice thing I can say is that the toilet was clean and that the guys working there were nice overall. It's honestly just an OK location. I don't like the limited move in hours as it was hard for me to work with my work schedule and bring my stuff in. The app is very confusing and the lock thing on the app never works. There are no maps anywhere so make sure you have it pulled up on your phone. Also it gives you a floor number but then the elevator is in letters with nothing indicating which floor is what. I was able to figure it out eventually, but still annoying and confusing. The unit itself was kind of dingy looking. There were two wet spots noted so I kept my things away from those but we'll see whether they spread or not. It's conveniently located near my house so that's really the only reason I'm using this location. read more

This location is an absolute nightmare. The employees are ableists, and frankly bullies. I moved in last October, fleeing from domestic violence. I was in the process of cataloging my items over the course of a period of time, to file for divorce. I was subsequently harassed daily, with walk-by check-ins, rude and uncourteous interactions, accosted when exiting the facility with abrasive remarks, accused of living in my unit (uh, units must be locked overnight, and there are plenty of cameras to prove this is untrue. My unit was overlocked at one point, without being notified. In fact, I received no correspondence or paperwork to indicate any issues. I visited the office for help unlocking my unit as I was fully paid. I was yelled at and scorned. The district manager, Justin, was called on their office phone, and I was handed the receiver. I was told I must move out by the end of the month, but I would have full access to my unit "as long as I followed the rules". I explained my situation and said this was an impossibility (being disabled, fleeing domestic violence, and simply being overtaxed for energy while battling mental health issues). This situation continued for 2 additional months. I finally was able to move my belongings at $600 to myself for movers. At the final visit, I was so distraught from being bullied, I said, "I need my unit unlocked. I will be moving out today, and I do not wish to speak further". The employee muttered, "Well, I'll say somethin' if I want to". I had to remove my noise-canceling headphones to hear this extra toxicity. I do not recommend this location. I have been with Public Storage before, and have not had any issues; so this reads to me as a very bad location. There are plenty of other good places nearby, and I am happy to be rid of this situation. read more

I have rented here for three years. I have seen the reviews on break-ins locally there hasn't been a break yet for my unit and I've changed floors twice. Tom is absolutely a wonderful property manager very pleasant and understanding although Cameron, who now works there is doing wonders! Not only is he friendly, understanding, works with you, but also checks To make sure no stone is left unturned he is a great addition to the team and I hope he stays. He's been absolutely amazing! I recommend Cameron and Tom! As for the pricing of the unit, I've been renting for three years. It has gone up pretty much every year which does suck for a very small unit. I think the promotion rates pretty much bring people in but the rising the prices of the units make it hard. In summary customer service is amazing Units can be pricey after promotional. read more

I have to admit that at first I had a very bad opinion of storage companies. They didn't appear to me as honest, IMO. Unfortunately, I still don't fully because you have to do your research or just go in blind and not care. If you do care, the first thing you need to understand is that storage units are not always the measurements are not always the exact size of what you have been told or read online. I rented a unit that turned out to be 8 cubic feet short. When my main purpose was storing items, size does matter. Of course the industry as a whole, protects themselves by putting that the measurements are estimates in the contracts. I could see if this was inches but not feet. I have a unit with Public Storage in Shoreline. I measured the unit to ensure I was getting the size I was being charged. The rental price was more than fair and I want to applaud Public Storage for at least having the best prices in my area. Some of their facilities definitely need some maintenance but the location in Shoreline is nice. I wish they had more parking but I can deal with it. I think I have been at this location for a little over a year and did get a rental increase. It wasn't off in left field so I appreciate that as well Public Storage. With the economy the way it is, every penny counts and I would definitely recommend Public Storage as a place to store your stuff but bring a tape measure. read more

NOT SECURE! AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS! There is a major security issue at Public Storage in Interbay. Units are getting broken into by removing doors from tracks, leaving locks untouched. After looking at Google reviews and Yelp, it seems this has been happening for months and no notice was provided to me as a tenant. When I alerted local management they added my unit number to a notepad of recent units burglarized that appeared to be more than 20 long and that a manager would reach out to me. After hearing nothing I called the facility trying to get some more information and when I voiced my concerns, the local representative told me I should move out. While I am aware that the rental agreement has a hold harmless, Public Storage has known about these thefts for quite some time and has not provided any information to its tenants or remedied the situation. This is an absolute failure of being a responsible business. I am concerned the thefts are an inside job. read more

They wouldn't honor my college-age son's storage contract (pre-paid) because I set it up from another state, although they assured me on the phone that this would be fine. I am still trying to get my money back. I decided due to financial strain to move to a smaller unit at this facility. I didn't realize I had actually lost the keys. I came back to the facility panicking. Half of the stuff I was moving was my deceased Dad's stuff so this wasn't a task I was looking forward to. Emma was very understanding and kind. She let me know what the options were and said if I didn't find the keys she would try to submit a request for it to be cut this week. I ended up finding the keys last night. Moving my stuff today was a painful struggle due to another customer/tenant hogging the elevator by loading it full which kept it on the parking level 15-20 minutes at a time. I have nerve damage in my arm and a recent spine injury from a year ago, which Emma didn't know about. Emma talked with the customers. She tried her best to make my experience better but the customer did not listen so I had to use the first elevator (the long way). She said she would speak with them again because it could also break the elevator. I really appreciate Emma's hard work and kind nature at her job, I had a rough weekend and I really needed a little kindness. I'm 35 and definitely wasns't as hard working when I was her age. She also has a good, uplifting attitude while doing her job. Emma genuinely cares about every customer's experience. read more

Unacceptable service an after raising our rent three times in one year (THREE times) you can't even consider it a bargain anymore. We shopped around and found a much safer, cleaner, and more accessible storage unit just a few minutes away. I could go on and on, but here were the final issues that put us over the edge: - Twice they were closed 15-20 minutes before closing time. We pulled up and both gates were closed (the electronic one has been broken for quite some time). - I went by myself (young woman) and felt extremely unsafe. Our unit was on the fourth floor and when I got to its location I could hear a person mumbling and making incoherent noises, I checked it out and found a person sleeping in the hallway. He appeared to be homeless and not well. I informed the staff and the guy on duty said "Oh yeah, that area... it's pretty creepy". Take your business elsewhere, seriously. read more

This place is a nightmare! Like several other reviewer's, I was broken into on the third floor of this facility last December. I counted at least 30 units in close proximity that had the tell-tale crow bar marks from the thieves prying the doors open. My grandmothers silver was stolen and the required insurance is unlikely to reimburse me for the loss. The thieves climbed over furniture breaking things along the way. 20-30 boxes were torn open from the side or opened from the top. Management was blasé about the ordeal and did not inform anyone of the break-ins. It's so rampant I suspect someone from with-in the organization may be responsible for the theft. This facility is negligent and terribly run. There were no working lights in the hallway for over a month and the only alternative offered was a very dim battery lit lantern that had to be picked up and returned to the office at the other end of the building. The place has a bad mildewy odor and all of my belongings picked it up. The security cameras are few and far between. Learn from my experience and avoid this place! It's terrible. read more

This location has had an alarm blaring nonstop, 24 hours a day for months. It can be heard from multiple living units throughout the neighborhood and drastically decreases quality of life for residents in the area. When I spoke with a representative I was told that it was a maintenance issue and they were working on resolving it but I have yet to see any improvement. The level of noise pollution and insensitivity to those living in the area is unacceptable for a business establishment with any respect for the surrounding community. read more

Public storage does not want long term tenants. They raise the rent every 6 months by 60 to 100 dollars. Half the time the elevator is out of order. The management at my property in Seattle Jeff is awesome. It's the upper management of public storage that's the problem. This company received COVID 19 grant monies they never needed and applied it to the acquisition of another storage facility for 1 billion dollars. There needs to be regulations in place that has checks and balances on corrupt storage facility policies. I do not recommend public storage for more than 6 months or you will be paying twice the amount within a year. read more

We got a short notice of a 42% rent increase on our unit...42%!!! We thought it might be a mistake so we called corp and they let us know right away they intended the increase and could change the rent at any time. I would not recommend using this storage at all!!! There are plenty of other options in the area. For starters, the $1 first month is not even close to what it is. They then require you to purchase an insurance package and pay a $25 "admin fee". Oh, and they also made me buy a $10 tarp because they are under construction and I need to "cover my things unless I want them dusty". I feel that if that's the case they should be providing them at no cost. I was then charged an additional $26 two weeks later without any explanation. When I called to get a refund they told me there are no refunds. My $1 first month turned into nearly $100 to store my things for two weeks! Additionally, they only have a small handful of carts the customers can use so expect to be waiting around for a long time to be able to use one. The whole building smells of toxic paint since they have recently painted, but they seem to have made no effort to increase that airflow. All of my clothes and things now smell of paint. I will not be storing my things here ever again! I should have listened to the man that warned me to switch storage units when I was moving in. read more

**Do NOT store your belongings here!!** There is a major burglary issue from what I can discern in my experience. I stored my entire 2 bedroom house at this unit for 2 months. On moving out day I noticed the door was off of the door track and the lock was still intact. Once I opened my unit I found that it had been broken into. Worse, it was obvious that someone had meticulously taken the door off its track. The facility is closed from 6pm -930am, has a specialized code to enter the elevator, has security cameras and has a few employees working daily. Do not be fooled by the "extra security" measures, they proved worthless both while our possessions were in storage there and after. When I brought the burglary to the manager's attention she stated, "that's just the nature of the business." We expected that they would help us to figure out what to do next, in fact they did nothing to support us. They didn't suggest to look at any security cameras or help to file a police report, they simply implied that I should have anticipated this horrible event. read more

I used this storage for about 5 months. Great location. Customer service was excellent. I would recommend for sure. The only down side was the hallways were not labeled and it was a bit of a challenge find my unit when I first moved in. We were in a rush with the movers and all of us kept getting lost trying to find the storage space I had rented. Hopefully by now they have added signage. If I could do things over again, I would not use this storage unit. Pro: This place is very cheap. The same size unit would cost me twice as much elsewhere. Cons: Everything else. The door has been broken for months. They keep saying it is going to get fixed "soon" but I don't think this will ever happen. Consequently, they are only open 9 to 6 (9 to 5 on weekends) and those are the only times you can get your stuff. This is very inconvenient if you work a 9 to 5 job. And you can't fit a moderately large truck inside which means you have to park on the sidewalk outside and there is scaffolding up now so I don't even know how you would get a truck there. The location is bad. It is right off an exit from 15th Ave W which means you can only approach from the south. If you are coming from north (Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford), you have to do an awkward (illegal) u-turn or make a legal right turn and wait at a long light to turn around. Even if you make a left on Dravus and a right on 14th, you have to go down a long tiny side street that is hard to navigate. They don't prorate your rent. If you leave on the 2nd you have to pay for the whole month. Conveniently, once you sign up online they call repeatedly to get you to come in and sign paperwork ASAP so that they can start charging you immediately. So if you reserve a unit for the 1st, they'll try to get you to come in on the 25th of the previous month so they can charge you again on the 1st. There are not enough carts and people are jerks about sharing. The elevators are slow can't wait to leave read more

Unacceptable!! Very limited hours! We got a unit here back in February and the 24-hour access door was broken, but the salesperson told us that "it'll be fixed by the end of the month." Nothing quite like making an online reservation for $171 (with a confirmation email to prove it) only to get a call two days later to tell us that the unit is actually going to cost us $240. This discrepancy (that Public Storage never remedied) would kick off a frustrating odyssey that would haunt our first month in Seattle. We raised a fuss and were initially rebuffed by customer service regarding what appeared to be a blatant bait and switch move (they called it a computer "glitch"). When we stood our ground the poor folks working in the office in Queen Anne referred us to their corporate boss regarding getting our rent bill changed back to the original price we booked online because apparently Public Storage doesn't trust their own employees with this kind of thing(???) Their corporate boss is worth mentioning by name; KEVIN BRIDGES initially dodged me for weeks. Three phone calls were made with voicemails left and he returned zero of these calls. Only after I called his boss, Lisa was I graced with a phone call from Kevin. Do you think that talking to Kevin did any good? NOPE! Over the next few weeks Kevin would have us believe that he would get the price adjusted ultimately to no avail. A month after our initial reservation I was receiving emails telling me rent was due in the amount of $240. Is Kevin incompetent? A liar? Poor communicator? All of the above? Whatever the case may be, do not waste your time with Public Storage! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! After getting ZERO satisfaction from Public Storage WE MOVED OUR STUFF OUT! If anyone can explain to me how after many many phone calls to the corporate offices at Public Storage I couldn't get a simple price adjustment I'd love to hear about it. Never in my life have I encountered such a debacle when dealing with a large company. This is the type of problem that should be dealt with PROMPTLY AND ON THE SPOT. The fact that Public Storage (Kevin in particular) made our move extra stressful and complicated and that we wasted far too much time on this is baffling and something I will never forget. After being locked out of my storage unit's floor a total of SEVENTEEN DAYS in the last two months with no communication or warnings due to construction, today I find out they have BOTH elevators out of service and no way to get to your unit. Again, no warning, no communication and no time-frame given for when the elevators will be operational. There are people renting trucks that need to move in and out at the end of the month...and you are CLOSED with no warning at all. This is a VERY SHODDY way to run a business. 1. Pro: they did upgrade me from a 5x15 unit to a 10x10 with no additional charge. 2. Con: do not believe the wildly posted signs about $1 for your first month. apparently "that promotion is not currently valid" despite being widely advertised. (even in the automatic ad posted beneath this review!) for 1 month of storage, it was apparently $165 for my 10x10 unit. Quite a difference from $1 3. Con: there are almost never any carts available. Technically, there are just 3 carts set aside for the entire building. So on weekends and busy times, the carts are all in use or mysteriously left in various halls by other customers. I brought my own handtruck some of the time, but the flatbed carts make load-in and load-out much faster. 4. Con: expensive supplies. They will sell you a padlock for $20. UHaul across the street sells the same lock for $9.95. They will try to upgrade you on a mysterious bucket of powder that supposedly helps with moisture control. read more

They've recently added security cameras, evening security officer, and reduced the hours. This has done NOTHING. The staff at this location was always very helpful. When I was looking for a storage unit, they explained all of the different options and helpful tips on mattress placement in the unit. Since I was storing all of my belongings while I was in SE Asia, I needed a place that was secure, dry, and rodent-free. This place isn't the cheapest option, but if you are storing valuables I would suggest you spend the extra few dollars because it was worth the assurance. Plus, when I moved out and had no help, Julian, one of the employees, helped me load my mattress into my moving truck. The only downside is the time it takes the elevator to move from floor to floor. It can be burdensome when there are many people trying to access their units. Otherwise, I highly recommend this location because of the quality and the staff! read more

We needed a storage unit to hold some household items and boxes after we sold our house. This facility is very clean and the prices are excellent. Signing up was a breeze! But for me, the managers Julian and Brandon, are the reason I wanted to leave this review. Moving is stressful, and on the morning when the movers we hired arrived at the storage unit to get our things, Julian was helpful and very friendly both with me and the moving staff. He helped direct the truck to the best location for loading, and also helped with the elevator and other logistics with the movers. Pros: - Very nice front desk staff every time I interacted with them. They were extremely helpful when I signed up, and one time when I showed up without my unit code written down they were happy to look me up and give me another code card. - I signed for my unit, paid, and moved my stuff in same-day - When I moved out, I removed my lock and left the unit empty. I forgot to go online and close my account promptly and was confused when later it couldn't find my account number. Turns out they patrol the building and close the account when they find an empty unit with no lock on it. Slightly confusing, but did save me money, because it may have billed be again before I got around to closing it online! Cons: - Very slow, kinda janky elevator. It beeps at you aggressively and tries to close on you after awhile if you're loading things slowly. - Rent was raised in the year I was there without email notice other than the new price auto-billing - They did not honor the "$1 for your first month" for walk-ins (at least at the time I walked in) - You can probably get a better deal if you're willing to shop around. I paid $209 a month for a 5x15, and have since seen them advertised for less. read more

YOUR STUFF IS NOT SAFE AT THIS LOCATION. Beware! I had a break-in and had $4k worth of items stolen from my unit. And their insurance? It's a joke. The "insurance company" is owned by Public Storage and they do everything and anything to get out of paying you for the stolen items. I gave up. In addition, they have very few working cameras (most are not working on the various floors) and there is no security whatsoever. Tons of homeless and shady characters going in and out. I definitely recommend single women to stay far and away. Always take someone with you and only use this place as a last resort. Also be aware that they will raise your rent expotntially once you're moved in and they've discontinued their prorated move out policy. If your items are not out before the 1st, they will charge you for an entire month. This place (as well as all Public Storage locations) are nothing but a headache. STAY FAR AND AWAY! read more
