Do not rent a storage unit from this location! Customer service is non-existent. The onsite staff is rarely onsite. I am a new custormer and already had water damage in my unit with several cardboard boxes and their contents damaged. I was not notified, not offered an apology, not offered any credit for the inconvenience, and told if I was unhappy I could file an insurance claim. Then I was told I had to move my boxes so that the drywall in my unit could be repaired. I arrived at the appointed time and no one showed, not even a phone call or text to advise me that anything had changed, and of course no onsite agent was onsite. This place treats their customers like they are doing them a favor. Thank goodness for competition in the storage business. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM ANY PUBLIC STORAGE FACILITY!! Onsite Staff are great people BUT Corporate is what makes this place DECEITFUL and SHADY!! Corporate offices of Public Storage raised our rate 40% in 4 months and after asking around will raise it continuously thereafter every quarter! Nobody tells you when you sign up that they will raise your rate up 40% or more. So why would you think as much. They wait for you to move in get everything settled and Hit you with this increase expecting you to pay it! Here is the kicker! I went online and at the same facility for a bigger unit they offered it for less than what I was paying. This Shady practice shows you they are willing to let renters go just so they can get people to pay the increase. And if they don't and you move out they do it to the next person. I will be reporting to Better Business Bureau as well as telling everyone I know never to rent from this terrible company. I called corporate office and they basically said there is nothing they can do because it's based on demand. even though I told them I see open units at the facility. It took me 10 minutes to find a storage facility closer to my home with better access hours and 25% less than what I am paying. Already confirmed with new place that they only do rate adjustments every 9 months and the maximum they have done was 9% during a high time. This is acceptable. I made a mistake in signing up with PUBLIC STORAGE but I hope this review helps others in not making the same mistake. I truly hope that public storage corporate reads this and gets their act together. I guess for now I will use my only consumer power and move!! Staff was super friendly and helpful. I did the reservation and paid online, and staff got me up and running really fast. Unit itself was ok..some trash left in there (nothing major at all...like candy bar wrappers and stuff...) Floor was in good shape as well. Use of the app was cool! Only rented 6 months there sucks that I didn't get insurance before because I didn't think anything like this would happen ! I had no expectations going into using public storage as a means to store some items while we process a move. I used their online system to book a space - 10x20' drive up. Reserved everything online (put in my card information and personal information for express check in) and had a confirmation call from the company to confirm when I would arrive. Upon arriving this afternoon at 6:00... I gave my reservation info and the attendant said that they no longer had our space reserved anymore. Frustrating. What made matters worse was the counter offer... "we do have an inside space, same size... for the same price as the drive up." This didn't make any sense. I thanked her for her time as I left in frustration only to have her ask, "so are you not keeping your reservation?" Not sure what else I could have said, so I said, "no thank you" To her credit, she then apologized but offered no help beyond pointing me to another public storage that was closed. In short, be sure that your public storage facility doesn't give out a space that you rent to someone who "physically" checks in before you. read more

Got a unit here because the access hours were open later than others in the area. They started having issues with homeless people living in storage units and restricted their hours. Still see homeless people there all the time but now can't access my stuff later than 6pm. If I didn't have to move all my stuff again I'd go elsewhere. UPDATE: My storage unit was broken into and had several things stolen. Have now moved all of my stuff to another storage, elsewhere. I do not recommend storing anything here, as they still have a problem with homeless and do not have surveillance inside the buildings, only on the outside, which is questionable at best. read more

Filed a police report and officer told me he has taken a lot of police reports at this location. My husband and I rented a storage unit from here and thought our belongings would be safe for a few months before we moved. They have a gate, and our unit was on the second floor, which requires a personal code to even get the elevator to go up at all. We kept all of our wedding gifts, our tv, luggage, several expensive items, and our bins full of memories of my late father and my husband's late mother. I received a phone call one afternoon at work and called back within 5 minutes only to be told my unit had been broken into and that "they called earlier that morning when the Sheriff's Department was there, but I didn't answer and the Sheriffs have left now". False. I was called once in the afternoon and I called back 5 minutes later. Almost all of our wedding gifts, memories, and belongings were stolen, and I felt violated and heartbroken. It seems sketchy to me that they have no way of finding out who broke in, even though you have to put in a personal code to make the elevator move. That makes me think someone who had access to Public Storage was behind the break in. A huge tip: if you're going to rent from them, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING in your unit that you do not have a receipt for! They make you pay for insurance, but insurance was a huge disappointment. After several months, our losses were worth thousands of dollars, and we got paid pennies from insurance. Insurance will ONLY pay for items that you have receipts for. We never keep receipts, so we hardly got anything out of them, meanwhile precious belongings are gone forever, and we are out thousands of dollars. So disappointed and heartbroken. Please install cameras!!! And if you absolutely must rent from them, don't put anything you care about in your unit. read more

Definitely should of check the reviews before renting a storage unit from this place, the lady that helped me was professional I will admit but the 1st day we signed up to rent a storage unit the lady at the front desk ask to keep a copy of the storage unit in case maintenance/ emergency etc so we gladly gave her a copy just to be told on the day we were moving out that they don't keep copy of the key to our lock that we purchased at the office, and front desk advised that all her associates knew this policy. This business is poster child for the worse customer service. I rented a storage unit late June. After 4 months rent went up almost $50. In late December I notified them I would be vacating January 8. I told this to two different people and neither one had the courtesy to inform me that they didn't prorate. This may have been in small print on the contract which I did not read word for word. I also don't remember being informed in the beginning that they didn't prorate. I talked to a couple of people in management and they only care about taking your money. Don't rent here!! read more

I have mixed reviews about this place. But before I starts, for some reason, the previous Yelp reviews for this place are not here anymore. Strange. I have been looking for a house for a long time. Needless to say, it has been a long continuous journey. And as we progress in age, it seems that we collect more and more unwanted, sentimental goods. That and the fact our landlord kinda wanted our stuff out of the house and the garage at the same time. So Public Storage comes into the picture. Location wise, it was the closest place to our house. Price wise, it was the cheapest public storage around the greater Cypress/HB/Los Al area. If you decide to choose to select your unit online, via phone, or come into the office, the process are all done by the computer. So to make life easier, you should just reserve it online. If you do reserve, you will receive a confirmation phone call from the managers at the location. Since the holds are for 30 days, they will have you on file and reconfirm with you if you still want to move in. After a few re-confirmation phone calls, it got to be a little annoying but I can understand that people probably reserve and not follow through with it. I was told that there was a $22 paperwork fee from a CSR when moving in. When I checked in, I was told that it was $32. Huh? To add to the matter, I was also told that insurance is Mandatory here. Double HUH?? To store stuff I really don't need? "Get me the cheapest one", $2,000 coverage for $8 a month. They also ask for SS number and driver license number so that in the case you can't make payments, you will be referred to a collection agency. Nice. I was also told there has to be certain locks used here, which they have to put stickers on. My unit that was supposed to be rented right away, they had to work on because the latch which the lock hooks on had to be repaired. So basically, I paid in advance and I couldn't move my stuff in the same day. This I wasn't too happy about. My personal space also did not have a light inside, that wasn't too great either. However, the storage that is parallel to the office seems to be the cooler building. I wasn't sweating up a storm when moving the items. Oh yeah, if you are moving via the elevator, you need to press your personal code outside the elevator after you press the elevator button on the inside and then you have to try to make it back before the elevator door slams on you. What kind of twisted sicko designed this security system? As luck would have it, we might be renting or owning soon. So as soon as I had moved in, we are moving out. I have to say though, the Farazi lady which I know I misspelled is very helpful here. She helped me preview the unit I rented and also got me outta there right away. If it wasn't for her, I think I would've not rented here. read more

I wish I could give this facility zero stars. Our unit was broken into 2x in the 5 months we were there. I had a bad feeling about this place, but it was conveniently located across the street from the neighborhood I grew up in. The neighborhood was fine, this place is seedy. First off, no one is ever available when you call in. And when you do leave a message, the call is not returned. The place is not safe or well maintained. When we tried to figure out who broke into our unit, we were informed that they only have cameras at the entrance. Their logic was that you need a code to get in, so no one that doesn't own a unit in there could get in. I can tell you it's easy enough to follow someone in, but since we don't visit our unit regularly, there was no way to determine when the unit was broken into from the last time we were there. We should have moved out then. We decided that the break in was a fluke and that we would keep our stuff there. We really couldn't even determine what was stolen because we didn't keep track of everything in there. And the required insurance does it include stuff stolen from your unit, only structural damage to the building. Our last month there, February, we were out of town when we received notification that our unit was broken into again. That was the last straw and we were definitely moving out after that. We were able to determine that one of our TVs was missing. The curious thing about our last robbery was that we received a phone call from them saying that they may have our TV. We didn't tell them we were missing one. How would they know we were missing a TV? And why would they call to tell us that a week after the robbery happened? It all seemed very strange. We didn't want to stick around to find the answer. Avoid this place at all costs. I have had many storage units in the past because my work requires that we have a place to store things. This is the only place I have had a problem with theft. I should have read the previous reviews for this place before renting here. Extremely unhappy with their service and the family. Was storing all my belongings for over a year and within that year, they raised the rates three time. I ended up moving out in the middle of the month because they were going to raise the rate for a fourth time by an additional $99 per month. I called the facility to see about working with the rate and they were not willing to accommodate. In the stint of being there they also shortened the hours of access to hours that were unreasonable for anyone with a job to make it to the units. Even with the restricted hours I would see people hanging out or parked inside the facility gate all the time. When I checked out of the unit the employee was not friendly at all. I told her that there was a second access door that the manager had asked me to supply a second lock for, but I didn't have access to the hallway that connected to that door. The employee had no idea what I was talking about and I had to walk her around the entire property to show her what I was talking about. I was able to retrieve my extra lock, but when we got back to the office she informed that I had a large balance due in order to close out the account. I paid over half for the two weeks that we had occupied the unit and asked her about prorating the month. She said there was nothing she could do, so I asked to speak with the manager. She said the manager wouldn't be in for two days, so I asked for the manager to call me. It has been over a month and I never received a call from the facility. Now I have received a letter from a collection agency. I have used many storage facilities in the past, including Public Storage, but this by far has been the worst experience. read more

The office chick Sarah is horrible and has no business working in a office environment..Sarah has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHATSOEVER.. Sarah cut my luck off my storage when she had no business or authority to cut the lock off, she know kicked my storage door in trying to blame me for it.. she refused to let me in my storage when I was half month behind.. The district manager Mitch is horrible too. I was told today that my storage was going up for auction tomorrow with new notice or anything... he tried telling me notices were mailed out to BS.. The manager Sarah, was so helpful and full of knowledge. She walked me thru the entire process and also to which unit Id be getting. She didn't mind that I wanted to see what a bigger sized unit looked like, she was happy and willing to walk me to a bigger size. Do NOT give this place business!!! I repeat, Do NOT give this place your possessions!!! About 50K of my brother's collectibles were stolen from this facility!!! The lock (which you HAVE to purchase from them) was unharmed and he is the only person with a key and the only person who knew where my storage was located! He lost hid life's work in collecting valuables that meant so much to him. He thought this place was secure and trustworthy, as that is what they promised him when signing his contract. Upon filing a police report, he has been notified by his investigator that there have been numerous reports of "theft" at this particular location and little to no support by the owner/s. This facility also allows transients to sleep/live in their facilities - even though it's against the law, due to protecting their customers belongings. He is so disappointed with the lack of support this facility is willing to give him, when he entrusted them with his personal belongings and the countless memories and years of collecting he will never get back. The decision to store his belongings was not easy but was a necessity, due to a transitional period of moving homes - it is by far his BIGGEST mistake by entrusting that my monthly dues, to Public Storage, would keep his belongings safe - instead he received disappointment and an empty storage facility. read more

DON'T rent a storage unit at the Stanton location! The units are getting broken into on a regular bases, homeless are allowed onto the property, and other trespassers at the main entrance gate and doors to the main entrance and exit to the inside units, doors are left open. There are no security cameras within the grounds where the storage units are and the older indoor units have easy access it doesn't matter if you have a lock on your unit. If anyone who has a storage unit that has been broken into this year (or prior) please contact me if interested in a group law suit as Sheriff's have suggested, recommended and not to rent a unit or have anything of any value inside your unit if you have one. My fiance and I have been using this facility in Stanton, CA for a little more than a year. The only flaws that I'm bothered by are that when we go into our storage to drop off or pick up anything we find cockroaches in our things, which is disgusting! We've never had cockroaches in our home and I'm now afraid that when we find a permanent home we will be bringing unwanted guests with us. I have used Public Storage a few times before, but in Los Alamitos, CA and I never had issues with cockroaches or any other type of pests. My other complaint would be the increase in rent! I'm just hoping we can get out of there asap! I know the cockroaches could of came from another renter or maybe they've had them for a while, but oh man I'm just grossed out and I don't know what to do about the infestation of our property now. They are in almost everything that wasn't completely tapped up! Hopefully something can be done about these issues. :-( Other than that I have no other complaints, the elevator is a pain sometimes, but I understand why they have those rules. We have never had any problems with the employees that work at this facility. If there were no unwanted guests (roaches) in our things I'd give it 4.5-5 stars! read more

Some things I don't like about this place are the following: Elevator usage. First, you press the button to go up, then you have to hurry your ass up and put in the long ass number they give you. If you don't hurry up and you lag it the elevator door closes and you have to restart again until your ass gets it right T_T I found this very annoying when we were trying to move in a bunch of stuff. Lighting: the halls are perfectly lighted but then when you open your unit it's dark specially at night. I'm not gonna lie I was kinda scared to step inside my unit. So, make sure that if you go back to your unit at night you take a flash light with you so that you don't waste your time. Like Pete said you can only use certain kinds of locks which make no sense so they kinda leave you with no choice but to buy a lock from them. The lady told us we needed two so when we go to our storage unit we saw that we only needed 1. I could have acted like a bitch but whatever things happen. We wasted $34 on 2 locks =_= Again, like the previous guy said you HAVE TO get insurance the cheapest is $8.00 (the one I got since my stuff wasn't that important) The paperwork for us was $22 lol so I don't know about Pete. Lastly they only had units available up stairs so that was a drag and its also a little bit pricey for just a small unit to put boxes and a small table inside. The elevator in one of the storage buildings has an expired elevator permit (since 9/2/2012).im still alive so it doesn't bother me too much It's definitely not the cleanest place. It can definitely use a good cleaning, it's borderline filthy. Security is Ehhh. There's one camera pointed at the gate to see who enters but none inside the buildings. I know there has been half a dozen break ins with some of the storages Staff is friendly. There basically the reasons why this place is getting two stars at all. But yea. Sharon at the front desk is so helpful and friendly! My fiance and I just got a unit today and the process was very smooth. She made sure to explain everything very thoroughly. A real treat to have her get us started! :D Also heads up about the door to the bathroom: it auto locks itself from the outside when you pull hard on it to close. Don't be fooled by the 4+ star rating that this facility is getting on Google Review. Yes, the staff is super friendly and helpful, but SECURITY at this Public Storage in Stanton, CA is a joke!!! I just recently started renting a unit here in late January 2017 and already it was broken into and all my valuable electronics, appliances, and clothes were stolen! The disc lock I had on it was still intact, but they pryed open around it and got it to open (see attached image). The lock is a false sense of security! Also, there is only one camera facing the front main gate and no one checking up on the facility after the 9:00pm closing time. Then I called the OC Sheriff's office to get a police report written up for insurance purposes, but they weren't able to show up and as I waited until 9pm, I saw a man leaving the facility on his bicycle. I saw him earlier coming out of the elevators and I was suspicious as there were no other vehicles around except mine. I've come to the conclusion that this man is actually living in one of the units! Again lack of security and enforcement is allowing transients to hang out and live inside the facility. I actually talked to one of the tenants earlier and he was also suspicious of people living in the facility and he commented that someone had urinated inside the elevator and the smell was horrible. For those that gave this Public Storage a 4+ rating, you might want to check your unit to see if it was broken into. Again, I highly recommend that you DO NOT RENT a unit from this Public Storage on Knott Ave in Stanton, CA. Update: As I was moving my remaining stuff out, I noticed that the drywall inside the unit ... yes drywall ... had a square cut out in which anyone can easily punch out and have access to the adjacent unit. Another security issue!!! Any potential renter should consider this before renting here. Any thief can simply rent a storage unit and have access to 3 adjacent units by just breaking the drywall!!! This time all my stuff is thrown all over the floor and the girl that work there help me put the lock on so I know it was done correctly. This place claims to have security or 24 hour surveillance. I'm have been renting a unit for 8 months and the price increased $30 recently. And the $1 for the first month is actually $50 (fees). The location is undesirable and not well kept. The hours stink, not accessible when desired and employees are not very friendly or helpful. Glad to be moving to a different storage company. The property is really dirty and the elevator seems to always be broken. The bathroom up front is disgusting with overflowing trash can and dirt all lining the sink. They raise the rent way too often. This place is a complete load of crap. Not to mention when I moved out of my last unit with them into a smaller unit I had already purchased the lock the first time but they made me purchase it again because they said I HAD to put one of my new unit even though I wasnt going to move my stuff into that day. read more
