had a unit for 6 months and on may 1st they had 49 break ins on the same night. talk about an insecure storage facility. cameras were unable to get anything and no security or alarm on sight i guess. anyways they took my 22" vossen wheels and some atereo equipment. they left my unit unlocked with all my other items inside. i called and said i would get everything out by saturday so they wouldnt charge me the full montjs rent. they still did and the manager said she couldnt do anything and i would have to call the district manager. called them and still no response. going thru my credit card company for my refund. would not recommend these folks they are shady and keep hiking rents every few months so what you see is not what you get. beware read more

My unit was broken into and I lost over $1,000 worth of artwork and music equipment I was storing until I could find an apartment (just moved to this area). Their maintenance guy was great, but everyone else, from their customer service agents to the local district manager, was unhelpful, unsympathetic, and rude. Some specific complaints: 1) The location has lax security, poor lighting, and the district manager implied that their security precautions (twice daily walkthroughs) are not always followed. The access control at the gate is very easy to get past (just follow someone else in and you can get in without a code) and the locking brackets on the door are easy to bend out of place. 2) I discovered my unit was broken into after hours, and the best the customer service agent at PS's 800 number could do was to leave a message with the local managers. I explained that I was waiting for police and that I needed someone to repair the door so I could lock my unit for the night, but the agent I spoke with said she did not even have contact information for anyone else who worked there. I had to demand she make multiple attempts to get in touch with the managers, which she did after making very clear that I was sending her out of her way. Getting someone out to repair my door took close to two hours (though, as stated, the repair guy was extremely helpful; in fact he was the only person in the entire company who seemed to be at all concerned about what had happened). As an aside, this is how I know how easy it is to bend the locking brackets - I stood there and watched the maintenance guy bend the brakets back into place; it took him five seconds with a pair of bolt cutters. 3) It took two days to get back in touch with anyone at their corporate office regarding my concerns about the way I had been treated on the phone after the break in. The corporate customer service agents do not have direct call back numbers, you have to drop what you're doing when they call you if you want to talk to them. When I finally did speak with someone, he was very dismissive of my concerns and told me that they're not a 24 hour a day business (which is disturbing, yes, you very much are a 24 hour a day business if my stuff is there 24 hours a day). The man was unsympathetic and clearly just there to deny the company had done anything wrong. 4) When we spoke to the district manager in person regarding our insurance claim he was condescending, rude, and unhelpful, even though he had previously told me he would help us. This "help" was apparently a small brochure and an attitude. In short, Public Storage corporate is unhelpful and doesn't seem to care much about customer service, and this location specifically has rude staffers and ineffective security. If you need storage, do yourself a favor and check out the U-Haul on Thornton Ave (http://www.yelp.com/biz/u-haul-fremont-5) for professional service, a much more secure location, and a lower price for about the same sized units. read more

Bad bad bad do not go here service is bad....they dnt work with u at all after 2+yrs forgot two small items (a bear n small vacuum)n lock now have to pay the entire month and pick up the items although I was already vacated! Apparently they have nothing to cut a lock with read more

Delayed review but as long as I've rented (2yrs+) from public storage, I've never had any issues with the staff or the property. Jackie, the manager, is always nice and greets me everytime she sees. If there is every a problem, she sees to it that things are taken care of even if there are delays from uppermanagement to help resolve the issue. read more

She has been helpful in solving family dilemmas in terms of storage and financial solutions. We have been notified quickly when a leak occurred so we could inspect our belongings. Jackie in the office is great to work with. She's super nice and helpful. The facility is clean and it feels safe.

I have been renting a 5' x 4' or 5' x 5' unit there for about a year now, and I have not had any issue with the place. Many convenient features - easy after hour access, online auto pay features, and pretty easy access to hwy 880. I have always seen store manager Jackie there each time I went there, and she's always very friendly and social - very seasoned manager who knows how to interact with a customer. I don't know about other people who work there. I am about to upgrade to a larger unit, and she tries to give me tips on how I can minimize charges - move at the end of the month, cancel out auto pay, etc. Definitely am having a good experience there. read more

We have been renting a storage unit at this location for almost ten years now and aside from some rodent issues and a family of very persistent spiders we never had any problems. The rodent issue was immediately dealt with when we reported it and when we had to switch storage units from small to large and back to a smaller size we were always accommodated. Jackie and her husband know us by name and have been nothing but courteous and accommodating. The rates are ok, and yes, they are raised annually as another reviewer has pointed out, but that's corporate policy. When it comes to customer service, we always have been treated incredibly well and when it comes to safety the location is as safe as it can be in our area. read more
