We used public storage a couple of years ago and I just came across the review card they gave us while cleaning out some old paperwork. An employee named Keith (not sure if he still works there) was very friendly and made the moving process so much easier, as we had never used a storage unit before. We needed a place to store our furniture in between moves, and everything was explained to us in detail & the storage unit was a perfect size for our things. You do have to bring/purchase your own lock, I believe ours was fairly cheap (Lowe's or 99c store) but you can pick a higher quality lock for extra security. We got the first month's rent free and only paid an additional month or two. We will definitely be back if we need another storage unit in the future! read more

Public scamming. Before renting here, you should understand that this money hungry business is just trying to profit off its customers! If you want to close out your account early, they offer NO prorated rate to leave (even if you're leaving on the first of the month!!) while pressuring their potential clients into signing their lease prior to their initial start date. Keep in mind, any other public storage will accommodate their customers with prorated rates but not this one. Also, the property manager is incompetent, rude, and terrible explaining the business's shady dealings. The man doesn't even call before unexpectedly closing my account. I would never rent from this place again and I would hope others look for storage space renting elsewhere. read more

I would have written this review with negative stars if I could've posted it that way. This facility is not worth the time, the headache, and the chip on one of the employees (Manny)shoulders. They are combative, difficult, rude, eavesdrop, and have the worst customer service you'll have the misfortune of experiencing. Initially when I was looking for a storage unit, my friend and I met the property employees separately. I went twice before renting a space. On each occasion I was told that a unit of a certain size had only 1 left in the whole complex, as intimated by both Joey and Manny. However, what the two failed to do was get their 'hard pitch' sell to match. They each showed me a different unit on different floors and proceeded to tell me it was the last one left. I called Manny out on this fib and his reply was this, "I meant the only one left on that floor." It didn't seem like that's what he was saying at the time. Since that interaction, Manny and his team have been diligent in tracking everything we did. They pressed hard to make whatever we did an infraction. So they are giving us a hard time and they are doing their job, but here is where it becomes biased and unfair, I've noticed every other tenant breaking the same rules with no charge. This place needs to be ran by adults and it's not a wonder why the whole place is subpar. Their district manager has no presence. Not one returned phone call from him. My next call will be to the regional manager. If you want to be harassed, lied to, and you like to play childish games then this is the best place to store your belongings. read more

This is one of the worst storages I have ever had. They enticed me to move in through a great $70 for a 10x10 unit sale but then just a couple of months later, the rent went up to $109. I was willing to pay $70 for this unit, even at it's condition, but did not feel it was worth $109. The unit has very flimsy wooden walls and floors, has no light in the unit, has termites, bugs, spiders and rodents that left droppings all over my items. When I brought home the items, I also brought ants that got inside of my home. Do they exterminate this location? I understand it is storage, but I have been in storages in Oxnard and other states that are nothing like this one. They are VERY quick to call all numbers possible and email when something is wrong with the autopay and they can't get their payment on time. When I called to move out, their manager MANNY was very rude and sarcastic with me. On Public Storage's website they state, "We Care - Our Goal: To ensure 100% customer satisfaction.Your business is important to us. Helpful agents are available at any Public Storage location by phone, email, or US Mail for your convenience" but unfortunately at this Ventura location that is not the case. I will never store my belongings at a Public Storage, especially this location regardless on whether they have a great price. The experience has been the worst that I ever had and their customer satisfaction, in my opinion, is horrible. I called the main customer service and I certainly hope that the region manager will indeed speak to this manager. read more

The worst experience! I rented two units in early 2017 without incident. Since the time of storage, I had not been back to the facility (we live out of state). In October of 2018, I arrived to move my belongings only to discover that my unit had been burglarized. I notified the onsite manager immediately, who visually inspected the unit and confirmed. He later admitted that mine, and three others had been targeted "some time ago". but no police report had been filed. I asked him why I was not contacted and he could not answer. A Ventura County Sheriff deputy responded and during the initial investigation, the onsite manager gave him the exact date of the crime (October of the previous year!). The manager continued by informing the officer that the criminals removed the drywall in an elevator walkway gaining access to all four units. In my unit alone, they rummaged through over 30 boxes, vandalizing as they went, and ultimately stealing a great deal of valuable items. Furthermore due to the condition of my property, I was forced to rent an additional POD at a cost of over 3k. The officer continued his investigation and discovered that not only had there been a police report filed, there were multiple complaints of lost property at that facility. The onsite manager became very helpful from that point forward. I contacted the company, who refuses to accept responsibility and claims it is not covered by the insurance that they forced upon me (insurance company owned by Public Storage). The customer service rep was rude and finally gave me a supervisor's number which was out of service. Forwarding the matter to our attorneys but beware, Public Storage is not safe; their insurance is fraudulent; and the customer service is non-responsive. read more

They made me pay for storage insurance and I said I had homeowners insurance so they said to take a copy of my homeowners insurance to a local Public Storage and they would verify that I had insurance coverage and remove the insurance from my account. I live in Las Vegas and when I went to a Public Storage they said that they never charged for insurance if a person said they had homeowners insurance. They also said that they could not remove the insurance. I called Orange Door Storage Insurance Program and they said that I could cancel the insurance on the internet. This looks like a scam to me, charging $11/month for insurance that you do not need. Beware if you go here, take a copy of your homeowners insurance policy. read more

Ya, ya, ya...we all hate moving or going through our belongings and getting a storage unit. It is stressful, physically painful and seriously, no one wants to do it. Well this pace makes a grudging situation so much easier to handle. I needed to find a unit to store my whole house of stuff for a few months before my place is ready up north and my experience here wanted me to write this 5 star review. It is at a great location but even better, is the service. Went online and scheduled my move in date and the site manager, Kevin/Keith ?? (so sorry for forgetting) actually called and followed up with me :) When I arrived he not only had his shit together, knew what he was talking about, and gave me all the answers to all of my questions, but was he just outright caring. Something that you don't see these days!! I really felt like all my belongings were in great hands. There was no duck tape to hold the carts together, no trash lying on the ground, bathrooms were even super clean. It is really an exceptional Public Storage! I would recommend this one to anybody. So if you can not get a unit, it is because they are going above and beyond the call of service and if you are lucky, another one may pop up. read more

Joey at this location was helpful in finding me a unit. I had made a reservation at another location and had a move in date. Well by the time we were ready to move in they had given it away. We were really in a bind as we had a truck coming from Arizona filled with furniture and needed to have a specific size unit with climate control, When I called the original location where we had the reservation they basically were no help at all. It didn't matter that I had a reservation and keep updating them regarding the status of our move in. I was calling all the locations trying to get a replacement unit. I called this location and told Joey my dilemma and he made some phone calls on my behalf found me a unit and they honored my online price. Every time we contact them we just get the runaround. Beware this place claims to be safe but it is not! I recommend you shop around if I could give negative stars I would they don't even deserve one star! This place is dog shit . The 1 dollar first month deals are lies by the time they get done selling you insurance and the $20 lock you can get anywhere else for 4 bucks . Manny at the front desk is a complete asshole not once every time . Complained to the property manger as well as district manger ... got absolutely nowhere not even a apology . Day one moving in had a rack stolen while unloading . After complianing about MANNY's poor behavior already he now continues to call my cell phone at least once a week to constantly remind me the payment yet hasn't been made . I advise him the same thing every time . Payment will be made in the very last day because I'm completely dissatisfied and that all I can do is pay late . Literally word for word tell him every time the same thing payment will be made last day of month . He calls today 31 to ask " I just wanna make sure we are still on for today " I reply yes can I pay now over the phone he's say " sorry I'll have to call you back " 4 hours later still haven't heard back from him . After reserving and establishing my storage unit/account online, I walked in to sign the paperwork and was told that I was required to purchase their insurance for $9.00/month on Nov. 1st, 2012. I told Anna that I currently have renter's insurance and that should suffice. She told me that it did not matter and that I must purchase their coverage, okay then. 7 months and 20 days later I walked in to turn in a change of address form and inquire about a rate increase. A lady next to me was finalizing her new unit and said she had homeowner's insurance and did not need to purchase theirs. I then asked if this is a new policy change. I was told "no" by a different employee. I just had to date, sign and print my name on a form. I explained that I was told that I was required to purchase their insurance after explaining that I had coverage that would protect offsite storage units. I said "I was given misinformation." "There was a misunderstanding." I was told by Anna's co-worker...as she turned her back and walked away. I have emailed corporate and my brother has a Public Storage unit about a mile away and he told me that they asked him to provide proof of renter's insurance and they could waive the insurance coverage/fees. So yeah, that's my story...I'm looking elsewhere. read more

I rented out a small space and it is so easy to access. At first I thought it would be a pain to have to go inside and up the elevator to get to my small storage space but nope its no problem. 5 star rating to 3 star rating to ??? rating 5 stars (Mar 2015) - Very clean property. I was most impressed by the manager - she was very efficient, pleasant and welcoming. EXPENSIVE LESSON LEARNED: ****PROVIDE NOTICE and MOVE OUT ON THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH.**** Changing our rating to 3 stars (6/6/2015) - We rented 2 units back in March. Yesterday (the 5th), we provided notice that we will be vacating one of the units. PRO: I really liked the fact that only a two day notice is required (orally or in writing) to terminate tenancy. PRO: We liked their automatic payment program and the payment for June was sent and received. Convenient and ensures timely payments. Upon renting the unit, it was conveniently set up for us. CON: We expected to be refunded the pro-rated rent for 23 days but we were told that since we were autopay and payment was rec'd, they could not refund the pro-rated rent. CON: Mistake - We let them set up our autopay which was set up to withdraw on the first of the month. We should have set it up ourselves or changed it to withdraw later.. like the 5th (late charge is after the 10th). If you want to move out at the end of the month; it is hard to stop that last payment if payment is set up to be rec'd on the first. OUR RESPONSE TO NOT GETTING a PRO-RATED refund. We went home and read our contract and WHAT WE DID NOT REALIZE was that our contract paragraph 2 reads: "Occupant shall not be entitled to a refund of a pro rata portion of the Rent for the month in which the termination occurs." I guess it did not matter if we were on autopay or not; pro-rated rent will not be refunded. We will be changing the payment method and day for payment withdrawals from the first to a later date for our other unit (e.g. not use their autopay program) ***Jury is out on leaving 3 star rating or moving it back up to 5 stars. We were told that our request for a a pro-rated refund would be elevated to the District Manager. Let's see what s/he decides. If we get our refund, we will elevate our rating back to 5 stars. We are keeping our fingers crossed. LESSONs LEARNED: - PROVIDE NOTICE and MOVE OUT ON THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH. - Use Bank Bill pay vs Public Storage autopay. - Don't set up bill pay so that it comes out on the 1st of the month. read more
