As many others have opined, this is a VERY welcomed addition to the South End area, and it is most convenient for me when coming home from my Uptown office! So needing to get a few ingredients for another Saturday wine party, I decided to come here and finally check it out. And like our awesome CM Nikki said, it took like for friggen ever to build this place! I know it was supposed to be done well over a year ago.....but who knows what the delay was, IT IS BUILT! YEAY! Parking is on two levels under the store, which was necessary since there is no other land available adjacent to the store. And the elevators that are provided....GI-NORMOUS! It reminds me of large Hospital elevators....I was almost expecting to see a Nurse wheeling a patient on a stretcher come on....but I digress... Very nice layout to the store. Sure it's brand new, so it's smackin clean and smells good in there. Staff is very friendly and willing to help....this is one of Publix's signature identities...strong Customer Service. Lots of tasting stations...TIP: IF you're hungry and don't have any $$$ available, pig out here! Don't know if that will last long being new and all, but man did they offer a LOT of freebies! I had to eventually say NO because I was getting full and I wanted to have some appetite for dinner! They have an AWESOME selection of breads, like French, Italian, Cuban, and very freshly baked there! Closeby is a GELATO BAR! Nice! Being "The Wineguy," I thought their wine selection to be a little disappointing! For such a large store, I was HOPING for a more broader selection. Sure what they had was good, but the prices were only average for the area. I was hoping to see a LITTLE more competitive pricing, but at least they weren't high. Still, if you want a good bottle of wine, you will be able to find one here....Maybe my expectations are just too high.....I compare everything to the Taj-Ma-Teeter on Morrison.... What I REALLY loved is that they have a "make your own pizza" section! See my tip. You can buy a whole pizza dough ball (which makes 2 pizzas) or a pre-rolled sheet which makes one. They offer chopped onions (for you lazies out there), mushrooms,peppers, and pizza sauce all right there. Of course you can find other meats and toppings throughout the store but they make it very convenient for you IF you are wanting to make a pizza....which I was! I loved how they also stock a lot of "REFILL" bottles. For example, I was wanting some daily shower spray and febreeze deodorizer refills, and they had both! The TEET rarely carries those, and I have to subject myself to Wally World to buy so thank Publix for sparing me that pain! Overall I really like this store. But like my buddy Kate T says, they don't have many of my personal favorite items, so I still will continue to shop my Taj-Ma-Teeter, but will stop here on my way home when I need those daily items. read more

It's clean, closer to home than wally world (yuk) , I don't have to have a rewards card, parking is a breeze, everyone is super friendly, prices are comparable to HT and are sometimes cheaper. Overall I'm sold on Publix and super happy I don't have to drive to the world of wacky wally anymore. Plus its on the right side of the road when I'm leaving uptown and going homd down south blvd which makes it more convienient when needing items for dinner at last minute! read more

Why not Five? a) The Parking situation. b) Something I can't put my finger on just yet. c) Needs a Yelp deal, Shrugs shoulders because I just don't know but I'll figure it out what's missing and I believe it's the WOW! Factor. What works: 1) It's new so everything is neat and clean. 2) Full Service deli, seafood and meat counter as I'm accustomed to including meal deals. They could benefit from offering a punch card for all that you purchase via the deli as a meal on the go. 3) Self check outs that are not too sensitive. 4) Online coupons 5) Good looking catfish 6) Deli open and cutting meats and cheeses at 9pm while other places in town are like bye bye doll. read more

Love our local Southend Publix! Always have the freshest produce and the finest selection. Sometimes on the weekends they even have free, delicious samples they offer up as you're wandering the aisles. Great selection of beer and wine and did I mention the staff is always super friendly? Every time I walk in I am greeted with a hello, good morning/evening, how are you and how can I help? Pretty much the icing on the cake (no pun intended) for me and my grocery shopping experience. I was always a CVS girl but I even recently switched to Publix Pharmacy as I can now knock out my grocery shopping and prescription pick up all in one -- talk about a busy girl's dream. They're always quick, efficient and helpful and thats about all anyone wants when getting their pharmacy run done! Just this past Easter Sunday on our way out we were handed free Lily's and thanked for shopping at Publix on our way out. Talk about ADORABLE. Very awful experience, I usually love shopping at Publix, but this experience ruined it for me for a while. All 3 of the employees that were there during my checkout were very disrespectful. To begin with I proceeded to self checkout because I only had like 15 items just in a larger cart because I had my 18 month with me. I was then told I needed to go to a normal register very aggressively, I said I'm okay I'd rather do this my way, she then grabs my cart with my baby in it and pushes it to a regular check out, I bit my tongue and continued, now this cashier Michelle" didn't speak to me , didn't even look my way, had an attitude the entire time , then my card declined because I entered the wrong PIN, she then screamed that my card was declined. I told her I did the wrong pin and I'll do it again. After my transaction was complete she handed me my receipt and didn't say anything. This is my first experience shopping in a Publix. I moved to Charlotte a year ago and was disappointed to see there was really only one grocery store chain in the city. Publix is a refreshing store to shop in, this location of course is new, the store is extremely clean and the staff is very excited to assist you. The produce section is much better than the competition in the area and there is also a great fresh seafood section. One employee pointed out that I was standing there waiting and it still took several minutes for them to stop talking and come over to ring me up. Coming from Florida, Publix is a way of life. So when I moved to Charlotte a few months ago, I was happy they have locations close by. The actual store is very nice and mostly has what I need, but it is smaller than most locations (in Florida). Parking is easy with the garage below and I have always found a spot close to the elevators. The staff are very nice and apologize for the wait in line each time, but every time I go there (which has been different times of day and dofferent days), I prepare myself to either 1. Wait in line for at least 10-15 minutes to check out with a cashier or 2. Go through the self check-out and take extra time myself to scan and pack everything. I love Publix and hope they get the understaffing of cashiers fixed. read more

I had a great experience with their bakery for my son's birthday. We needed a farm birthday cake and they did a great job recreating a Pinterest photo. The cake tasted yummy and the price was so much better than free standing bakeries. They also made great coordinated grass cupcakes. read more

The Starbucks at this Publix location is truly terrible, even ordering a black coffee takes several minute. The deli must be run by the government because it is extremely inefficient. Every time I order a sub online and come to pick it up at the designated time it is not ready and most of the time has not even been started yet. What's the point of having an online ordering system if it still takes 45 minutes to get a sandwich. Disgraceful. read more

Publix is definitely my go-to grocer of choice. Lucky for me, they came to North Carolina right around the same time I moved here. There were about 6 months where I shopped back and fourth between Food Lion, Harris Teeter & Walmart. Publix is hands down the best. I love that all stores are similarly laid out, so it's generally easy to find anything you need regardless of which location you go to. I also thing that there is enough space in the stores so you don't feel claustrophobic. My big gripe with Harris Teeter is that they all feel like big Cluster %#$#s to me, and everything is so crammed in. If they made sure to always have a well stocked and fresh produce section, they'd definitely get 5 stars from me. On weekends, especially Sunday nights, it can be hard to get the best selection after the weekend rush has hit. read more

I know Publix is just a grocery store and they sell almost everything from a to z, grocerically. But the reason why I want to review Publix (even though we take it for granted and buy our groceries here all the time) is their TIRAMISU. I hear you saying "Are you nuts". Trust me the Tiramisu in Publix is one of the best I have ever tasted and enjoyed. I am not a Tiramisu aficionado but a biggg sucker for one. Any restaurant that we go to, if they have tiramisu on their menu, we always try and till now my taste buds did not cheat on Publix's tiramisu. I agree that they are multiple versions of a tiramisu but to me, I just found 'the one' here. Its perfect thickness, perfect coffee flavor, perfect amount of mascarpone and super juicy ladyfinger (bread stick, that is) and topped with cocoa powder. Each bite is a taste of delicacy. It is a must try if you love tiramisu in general. read more

Oh Publix, why are you not closer to my house?! Like in place of the Food Lion on Eastway or the Plaza/Midwood HT?! OK so you aren't really THAT far from me but still. I won't hold it against you though because your store is like a grocery wonderland. Beautiful meat/fish section, a cheese section the way it SHOULD be and an awe inspiring produce section. Sure you take a little getting used to, layout wise, but this is why you have a team of helpful friendly folks to guide newbies like myself through your well thought out space. Would be nice to have one of you in the strip on Independence that is set to be newly developed near the terror of a Walmart. You know, to bring a little sunshine to the area. Just an idea. Publix has been my go to grocery store for years. When I moved up to Charlotte in early March, I was excited to find out that the closest grocery store to my apartment was indeed Publix because Harris Teeter is very popular in NC. My several experiences at this Publix have been just as awesome as previous experiences. The staff is very friendly and will say hello as you pass them in the aisle. Each experience I've had with the cashier has been very smooth. There is limited parking available right next to the store. Otherwise, you can go into the parking deck and take the elevator up to Publix. There is plenty of parking available. One disappointing thing is that they have been out of ciabatta rolls a couple times I have visited. I wish they would replenish stock of that more frequently because its so good! read more

I love Publix! I've been shopping at Publix for over a year now and I can't think of another grocery store I like more. This is a super busy location, so if you want the freshest produce and items in stock try to shop on Monday or Tuesday. On weekends they produce sometimes gets a little scarce, but overall they are always in stock. The staff is very friendly and always make my shopping trip a pleasure. Ps. If you allow the staff to take your groceries out they usually hand you a "free item" coupon. read more

This Publix just opened, so it's all brand-spankin' shiny new. But to be fair, so the other Publix in Steele Creek is just as nice. They're both about the same in terms of selection, I think. The produce is varied and fresh, and I love the amount of organic produce there is. Publix seems to be the friendliest store around here for vegetarian/vegan choices, as well as people who prefer organic meats. There's TJs, of course, but their produce is limited. (Because sometimes you just want one jalapeno, not a jalapeno pre-packed with salsa ingredient friends.) The staff is friendly and helpful, though the bag guy who had to run and find the price of my crackers, which weren't scanning properly, came back 3 minutes later to ask me which aisle the crackers were in. Um, isn't that something you should know? Then I think he was flirting with me, because he kept talking about my clothing and my nail polish, and REALLY insisted on helping me to my car. No, dude. It's two bags, and check it out: I've got TWO hands. Despite the weird bag guy, everything else was good. The elevator is really weird when you're on it by yourself. What do they got in there? King Kong? NOTE: PARKING LEVELS ARE WEIRD. Levels go Main Level (1), then P2, then P1 is the lowest level. read more

I've used Publix bakeries for years, because they truly have the best cakes. Unfortunately, this week my experience was horrific. Last week I online ordered a carrot cake for my husbands birthday with instructions that it be ombré blue. Monday, when I went to pick up my cake, the decorating was a standard carrot cake. I politely explained it was wrong, and in return I had a nasty older woman, Katie, telling me that's impossible and they can't do that. I told her someone on the phone reassured me they could the week prior, instead of trying to help in anyway she continues to be rude and embarrass me. I left all of my contact information when I ordered the cake, if it was truly impossible and not just an error, the bakery would have contacted me and asked if there was something else I would prefer. I did not accept the cake, and therefore took my business elsewhere. I am beyond disappointed with Katie's customer service, and will never be using this Publix bakery again. read more

She paid more attention to her phone (texting) then Greeting me properly and assisting me.She took forever to greet me, but when a white customer walked up she greeted him within seconds. Thanks to hurricane Joaquin, most of my weekend plans were cancelled. Since I had some unexpected free time, I decided to run my errands in super trendy South End rather than Cotswold. Having lived in Florida, I am very familiar with Publix, but I was curious how well Publix would translate/fit in the Queen City. The South End location does a good job of fitting in the landscape with its hidden parking deck, pedestrian scale street frontage and orientation to the light rail line. I had no problem finding a parking space (which is rarely the case at the Cotswold Teeter), and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Even though it was my first time in the store, I had an easy time navigating and found everything I needed in a reasonable amount of time. When I was ready check out, I was pleasantly surprised that the lines were only two carts deep (another vast improvement over the Cotswold Teeter). The only downsides were that the beer and wine selections were not on par with what's available at Harris Teeter and the prices really weren't much cheaper than Teeter's prices. All told, I had a pleasant shopping experience and I'm excited that Cotswold is getting its own Publix soon! read more

Just a supermarket, However I was in there a couple days ago to pick up some things for thanksgiving this year and i was astonished with the superior customer service. Every worker greeted you in the store and when I looked lost I was quickly asked if I needed help finding anything. Even the managers or higher ups ( what I imagined ) immediately helped me find what I was looking for and not only told me where to find it but took me to the location and even asked if needed any help with the cooking process , j could visit the website for tips. I first visited Publix in 2009 in Florida. I love their food and quality. When I returned to Charlotte, I was looking for a Plubix in my area and notices, there was not. I wrote to them to see if they would bring Publix to Charlotte just like I wrote to ask for Ikea to Charlotte in 2003. Few months ago, I read an email that Publix in NC but all closed to SC. Couple of weeks ago, when viisting my girlfriend to see Publix in Whitehall, I was excited to shop there. Later, I also shop at the one in downtown Charlotte. Their food merchandise are very good at their quality though the price is much higher than most of the supermarkets in our town. Lately, Walmart is not cheap anymore. Unless we can consume large quantity from Costco or eating at restaurant everyday, I prefer Publix for their quality. read more

A little known secret is that if you allow someone to help you out to your car w/your groceries you get a coupon on your next visit for a free Publix branded product. I always ask what the freebie is. I do price comparisons to Harris Teeter. If you shop carefully between both, there are deals to be found. I have used delivery and curbside pickup as well as shopping in that very clean store. Competitive prices, wide selections, great quality - especially in the produce section. This is out go-to store even though there are other places closer. The staff is wonderful. A special shout-out to those with the white and tan tags - teenagers who are working there. Review a grocery store? Why not! This is my favorite grocery store! This newer location at Southline is fantastic. It is always crowded but parking is manageable in their underground lot (unlike Trader Joe's). This place is huge, clean and great selection. I love the produce, deli and prepared foods...Publix homestyle potato salad is to die for. I'd give it a few dings for the wine department (not as extensive as I'd have thought) but who's counting. There are always people around to help. Checkout is quick and they offer to take your cart to your car! I used to think that Harris Teeter was "it" but Publix has set the bar. read more

A welcomed addition to Charlotte. I only wish it had come while I lived there. Sigh! I was a Publix regular in Atlanta during my Charlotte days. Deli and bar food (mardi gras wings and mango key lime pie) beats Harris Teeter any day. Stopped in during my recent visit for the Panthers/Arizona game and had my favorite sandwich from the deli: the Italian. Still as good as I remember it. The have a multigrain sub roll that I don't recall that is pretty good. This Publix looks pretty new and is very clean. I'm sure they'll maintain it; its in Southend after all. The prices are very similar to Harris Teeter. The store itself is very clean and taken care of well. Be aware the parking is in the garage under the store. There are a few spots right out front if you're lucky. All of the food seems to be fresh and last a while. The only problem I have with this Publix is that there is no way to get to it from the other side of the light rail. read more
