It reminded me of the local meat markets back home in Houston, and I really wanted to find a Black-owned spot with that same feel. This was exactly it. I knew going in that it wasn't going to be a fancy, Whole Foods-type place. It's an older, traditional meat market, and that's exactly the vibe I was looking for. Parking is on the side, and the entrance is right off the street. Inside, the meat counter is in the back. Customer service was great. I went the day after Thanksgiving, so it wasn't busy at all. I came looking for pig feet, and the staff was quick, helpful, and friendly. They usually have pig feet pre-packaged and priced, but they were out, so the butcher grabbed fresh ones and cut them exactly how I wanted (longways), wrapped them up, and sent me on my way. They accept Apple Pay, which is always a plus, and they offer text or printed receipts. Prices were reasonable, and overall it was a cool meat market with good service. I was shaken, my daughter was upset, and it was clear this employee had no interest in basic decency or customer service. To top it all off and I wish this was an exaggeration multiple items in the produce section had visible MOLD. I originally wasn't going to say anything I was just going to assume maybe it was a bad time to shop and they just maybe didn't change things over but I started looking around and wondering, how many others have been mistreated...It feels like this place is completely falling apart in so many ways. We used to know this store so well I could list off prices without looking. But I'll gladly save myself the extra out of the way 15-minute drive now and head to Super G Mart where there's better variety, better prices, respectful staff, and an amazing bakery and hot food section.
