I'm not normally a Publix shopper only because there is no location within several hundred miles of the home office but whenever I'm in Florida I look forward to coming to this chain as it's usually a quality experience. I came here mid-day for some lunch time provisions as we were going to grub it up on the beach. Easy enough to get to as it was only a short drive down the road from the hotel. The parking situation is a bit nuts as the strip mall the Publix is in apparently gets very, very crowded around lunch time and the space sharking along with the clueless driving was in full effect. The deli in the back was well staffed even though the line was long. Overall it was only a few minute wait and I was on my way. Prices, much to my surprise, were actually a dollar and change less per pound for the exact same items that I would buy at home. I found that noteworthy as the one knock on Publix is that their prices are not competitive with other grocery buying options. Yes the stores are usually bright, airy and clean and the staff is usually very helpful but it does come at a price. It's sort of like Wegmans back home for me. You shop there for quality but not if you're on a budget or if you're trying to find deals. Still not thrilled with some of the prices especially since they don't offer a loyalty dork card but just like Bed Bath and Beyond they take any and all coupons so my advice of course is to bring as many as possible. Eh, I was in and out in about twenty minutes and to me that's a win.

I adore Publix. All of their stores are so clean and make grocery shopping so easy. My only issue is that they don't have locations in Nevada, as I'm not local. This location was right near my hotel in St. Augustine, so I popped in a few times. On one visit, I ordered a delicious sub which was made by Steph. She was wonderful and we had a nice chat as she made my sandwich. Publix is always a wonderful perk to visiting Florida.

The shelves are absolutely EMPTY this is UNACCEPTABLE! I was shopping on Saturday, and went over to the dairy department to look for daisy's sour cream, which is buy one get one. There was NOTHING on the shelves when I looked at the section. So, I went up to this older lady, think her name was Christie, and asked if they have any more in the back. She immediately told me there was not any more, I found it odd considering it was on sale that week and I saw it at the store before last week. Five minutes later I saw another worker, Conor, and asked him the same question. After several minutes of waiting he gave me the sour cream I requested. I found it odd that he was able to find the sour cream but Christie wasn't able to find the sour cream five minutes prior. Maybe they got some in inbetween that time?!? Could really use some work at that Publix, was disappointing.

    Line for deli.

30 minute wait at cash registers and deli and anything in the store, and the customer service girl, Awnisha, explained that if you are local you should know this is condo check-in day, while refusing to check out my cart and 15 items because she's too busy having to deal with Western Union? Makes no sense, in the Saturday night, but then she has if this is normal, and I reply with why would you not have more people working then if you know this is going to happen, and silence. Left the card of items and pick out the five things I really needed, and the manager then had to ask her to come back up to customerservice where is it was supposedly so busy even though she wasn't there when I came back. She came across as a bit unmotivated and lazy

I…read morebelieve they carry a little bit more variety, and are slightly better stocked, at this location than other locations in the general area. I always find something new to try or something that has come back again in the "Aldi Finds" area. I do have my "staples" that I get at Aldi as well. Especially since we used to live in Germany and can get certain items similar here at Aldi that we did there in Germany. It is nice to have the extras and/or more variety, but the prices on some things are higher than the other Aldi's...like milk is $2.26 a gallon instead of $1.99 at other locations for example. I have no idea why that is the case here, but no matter how you slice it...it's cheaper than Publix! It can sometimes be interesting to check out since the aisles don't line up with the checkout stations. I guess my pet peeve about this place is that you have folks waiting in line forever, then they really don't know which way to go when they are trying to check out. Some arrows on the floor would go a llloooonnnnggg way! Then when they are really busy, a new cashier will open and instead of making it a point to approach, or wave, someone over that has been waiting forever they just say they'll take the next person...and someone comes out of nowhere that hasn't been waiting...whoa! It upsets people, and the employees know what they are doing, did and can clearly see what is happening. Older and/or elderly folks that are not capable of zooming over there end up on the short end of the stick (for a lack of a better term). It's sad to watch (and if you say something...no results). They could definitely improve this process and be more compassionate. Other than this, the staff is normally pretty friendly and often the folks stocking the shelves will ask if you need help finding something or are readily available for questions. The parking lot can be interesting, but this is not the fault of Aldi since it's been there awhile. Be aware of the quirky one-ways at the end of the lot because "near misses" happen all the time. If you've never shopped at an Aldi, then please note you'll need to bring your own bags. They do have boxes available sometimes, but don't count on it. It's no problem to just use the cart to take things to your vehicle. You will also need a quarter to get a cart, then you get it back when you return the cart. (Yes, it's the same way in Europe, but they use a Euro coin.)

I guess I heard that over-night camping for RV's could be arranged at some Walmarts but didn't realize this service was available for the homeless - so if this is a service they provide it's an honorable gesture of sorts. I walked in and found this store hasn't aged well and if I had to assume that Walmart isn't the company it once was this would be an example of its decline. After looking down a few aisles I found the item I was looking for and proceeded to the self-check registers navigating through a lot of customers who appeared to be roaming the store aimlessly, it was almost as if they were here for the air conditioning, in essence a sanctuary verses a shopping trip. Prior to leaving the store I decided to use the restroom since I still had a few errands to run, this confirmed the lack of investment by Walmart to keep this property a viable asset that provides amenities for their loyal customers, in short it was disgusting and I made a quick U-turn after opening the restroom door the risk wasn't worth the convenience. It's probably been a few years since I visited a brick and mortar Walmart, it's has nothing to do with being pretentious it's just that beside groceries I shop online for most of my purchases so I rarely visit retail businesses for everyday items. I don't know if the condition of this Walmart is the exception or it's an accurate snapshot of how much this company has declined, hopefully this is not a typical representation of their properties but with a company of this magnitude it takes a major capital investment to renovate and update or do simple maintenance. I saw very few "associates" on the floor and had no reason to interact with any so I can't speak of the customer service here, but it seems "the struggle is real" for this company and although I may not agree with all their policies they do provide an essential service for many...

It has been a great method everywhere that I have lived. This venue is a blessing!! The owners are so friendly and welcoming. I called ahead of my visit this time, because I was on a mission to find Thai chili peppers. Score!!! I was getting desperate after going to a local "natural market", then Winn Dixie, and was I was almost going to go to a Thai restaurant to ask if I could buy some peppers off them. I called to PJ's and asked the owner and I lit up like a kid at Christmas time when she said "yes, I have them"! I immediately said that I was on my way! There's lots of parking spaces and it's easy to get in to the plaza from the road. Not only was it easy to find my prize, but it was so fun to look at all the delicious ingredients, treats, dishes, teas, and medicines. The refrigerators and freezers are full of Asian delectables and I was sooooo hungry and wanted everything! I had to limit myself for now because I was waiting for my next paycheck, but I still bought more than I should have!!!! Why ? Because I don't get to see these products at other local stores. I know that I always get my necessities/ essentials/ pantry must haves... but it is so hard not to get candies, teas, snacks, dishes, and cravings!!! I should not shop when I'm hungry... or did all these awesome products just make me hungry!!! I was feeling greedy for sure!!! I love this venue and I love the awesome lady sitting at the counter as she helped me pick out which package of pickled mangoes were better. And of course, I bought the one was her favorite!!! I love soaking up her wisdom!!!
