This place was great! The man working there let us sample some sauces and we ended up buying most of the ones we tried. So good and so many unique items. This is a fun store and our salesperson was engaging and helpful. You can sample some of the sauces upon request. They also have seasonings, spices and rubs along with other condiments to try like BBQ sauce. Only knocking off a star because prices are not listed anywhere and there are no tags on anything. We were told it's because inventory goes so fast here, but they could at least put a sign up every few shelves with the prices. read more

Lots of hot sauces here as well as other packaged foods for your fancy. They also have noodles, jams, jellies, dressings just to name a few. They are not necessarily hot either. They have a huge collection of hot sauces. It doesn't necessarily mean they are local. Ask for the local stuff. Datil peppers are local to the area, so that is a really cool souvenir for the hotties in your life. Bonus: the have key west chocolate covered key lime pie ice cream bars!! read more

On a recent trip to St. Augustine with my husband we stumbled upon this shop. I'm so happy that we did. They have an amazing and huge selection of hot sauces. If you are a fan of hot ones (youtube show), you will love this shop. Aside from the hot sauces, they also have delicious key lime treats. I bought the dark chocolate caramel key lime truffles. So good! They sell infused oils and vinegar too and a lot of other awesome stuff. The owner is super nice and he let us try a bunch of hot sauces. We were traveling along south bound 95 last weekend when we decided to stop for coffee. And against my better judgement, we went downtown St. Augustine to get it. It was a lot of traffic to get down there, but it was nice once we paid our parking and walked the tree-lined streets. After we grabbed our coffee, I saw the sign in the window for "Hot Stuff". What caught my eye was hot pickles. We wandered in and I was pleased to see mannnnnny hot items. From Chocolate, to olives to the pickles that were my objective. The fella working the store, the owner I think, was over at a tasting booth letting a guy try some of the hottest hot sauces he had. That was because there was an entire wall, to the ceiling, of hot sauces. He had a good eye, as he spotted me looking at thew pickles ingredients and asked"do you wanna try one, I have a jar open". I was happy to. They were good, but not what I was looking for. Then I saw a hot sauce that was Black Truffle infused. I HAD to try that. Fantastic. I bought 2. I'm glad we popped in, as this was a very friendly place, with many piping hot options. read more

I didn't have a bad experience here, but I did find their selection of hot sauces to be somewhat limited. I was looking for a specific kind of hot sauce, and while the help there was able to list off a couple of sauces that were similar, she wasn't able to come up with the one I was looking for. Not that big a deal, I understand there are sauces out there that are hard to come by. When consulted about another sauce, she was knowledgeable and pointed it out to me, remarking that it had good flavor. The sauce did, and I am happy with the purchase. It doesn't have the heat that the bottle says it should have, but since it has good flavor I am not disappointed. I couldn't tell if they were packing up olive oil or unpacking it, but the olive oil section of the store was in complete disarray with boxes. Perhaps they are still getting things back in order after the flooding. There was no indication at all of Key Lime Pie on a stick, however. read more

We have shopped here several times in the past. Overall the prices seemed a bit high, but this is a tourist area. The selection of hot sauces is relatively limited compared to another business near the City Gates, so I get hot sauce there. We did find some good spice mixes we used for dips. They do have some pepper related items here you won't find elsewhere in town, so it is worth stopping in to at least have a look. On our trip here in December 2016 we found the shop temporarily closed as they remodel to repair the flood damaged caused by Hurricane Matthew. Most other businesses in the area have opened again. read more

The store was amazing, and so was the service. The girl that helped us was so genuine and had such a passion for where she was at. We bought two bottles of the fruit wine which were delicious. Got souvenirs of Keylime cookies that were highly recommended by her. Love it ! read more

This place is so much fun! The owners are very welcoming and enjoyable to talk to. They have a tiki bar set up in the store so that you can try all the local hot sauces, I don't think any other hot sauce store in St Augustine has this, super unique! They also have a "sweet" side with locally made key like pies and candied pecans. Even Key Lime flavored pecans! Yum! Samples galore and friendly service, a great place all around! Don't go here, it's simple as that. This store is a combination of three "specialty" shops- Olive Oil, Hot Stuff Mon, and key lime pie on a stick. None of which I found to be any good. The shop owner was rude and pushy. To try the olive oil and balsamic vinegar, you were to drink it, not dip bread in, just take a small plastic cup and drink it. It was so terrible. The products are also extremely overpriced as it seems that the dried pasta and two bottles of balsamic vinegar were $50. Going here ruined my day, and I am happy I am never going to have to go back. read more

They carry the best selection of Datil pepper products that are so unique to St Augustine. I had been searching for true Datil pepper jelly and this store had it! The owner was very accommodating in helping me find and select the perfect items. My daughter is a student in town and although I was just visiting, I know I can send her in to get me more when my supply runs low. The store is adorable, many great products to choose from and sample. Great selection of flavored olive oils and key lime items as well. I will make a point to be back for more. :) read more

The experience at this shop was great. My girlfriend had a great time talking to Sarah, one of the owners, and trying some of the keylime products they carried. While she was doing that, Chris had me try several hotsauces. I'd say I was most pleased by the taste of the "minorcan mikes datil pepper sauce". If I remember correctly, is a local pepper grown here in St Augustine. I'll definitely be coming back next. read more

A treasure on Treasury Street! I visited Hot Sauce Mon a couple of weeks ago and can't say enough about it! The welcoming atmosphere by Chris and Sarah make you want to stay a while. I found the selection of hot sauces to be extensive and if you are trying to bring some home from vacation (as I was) there is something for everyone! I was "hooked" on the datil sauces! The only problem was making a decision! This insures another visit since St. Augustine is the only place to get datil peppers! There is also a key lime section offering a number of tasty items. The key lime pie on a stick is delicious, or you can choose a slice of key lime pie and enjoy it on their bistro tables outside. I found this place today after a google search. Was seeking gifts for a friend abroad. My experience was good. It looks like it was recently bought by a couple which were very friendly and very helpful. (I noticed people mentioned their prices were high but the new owners asked me what my budget was so seem to be aware that maybe the last owners had steep prices). I ended up spending $46 and got a jar of hot sauce, jar of datil jelly, local honey, local tea, candied pecans and a fridge magnet. I wish them success. read more

Go elsewhere. We feel ripped off. Went here to purchase Datil pepper products. Staff is not very helpful, borderline rude. Their prices are very expensive, found same products elsewhere for as much as $2.00 less per bottle, almost every hot sauce runs around $8-9.00 for a small bottle. Purchased a pack of datil pepper seeds, not one will sprout even though great care was taken to provide perfect soil and temperature. Datil pepper sauce, a Made in St. Augustine's product is awesome. O'Steenes serves it on the table, and you can purchase a large bottle for about $7.00, really good! read more

Awful customer service / Rude and disrespectful owner - Stopped in this small store in downtown St. Augustine just yesterday. They provide a large selection of different types of hot sauces, as well as many unique condiments for sale. We entered the shop in hopes of finding a few different large Variety Packs to purchase as gifts for my family members, as they are all great hot sauce connoisseurs. We should have realized there was a problem as soon as we entered the store, when the owner, Ms. St. Clair, sat behind her counter the entire time talking on her phone. She never once made eye contact with us, never welcomed us into her store, and never asked if we needed any help. Since she would not get off of her phone, I could not ask her a question that I had about a certain hot sauce. I decided that I would just text a picture of the products to my dad and ask which one he recommended. As soon as I took out my cell phone to take the picture, she finally took a break from her phone call, only to swoop across the store to chastise me. She outright forbid me to take any pictures of any products inside her store. I was only taking the picture to text to my dad with the question I had about HER product that I could not ask her because she would not get off her phone! Since she decided to provide the WORST possible customer service of any business that I have ever been in, refused to even acknowledge our presence when we entered the store, and then rudely reprimanded me for simply trying to take a picture of a product I was planning to buy, we decided to just put back all merchandise we planned to buy, and walk out. People that act that rude do not deserve our business, especially since the amount of merchandise we were going to buy would have equalled an extremely large quantity of money. Rude and disrespectful customer service will make you lose business, and unfortunately for the owner of Hot Stuff Mon, she lost a considerable amount of money yesterday! read more
