I recently visited the Publix supermarket on Roosevelt Blvd in Ortega, Jacksonville, FL, and had a frustrating experience at the deli section. I come here at least once a week in the evening, so this is not a one-time issue. Why are the staff members who prepare the subs so slow--especially during the evening shift? I had to wait a very long time to get my sub, and it wasn't because of online orders or a large rush. It seemed more like customer service was not being handled properly. Waiting this long for a simple order does not create a good impression and definitely does not reflect the level of service I usually expect. I hope management takes a closer look at this issue and works on improving efficiency and customer care at the deli counter. read more

This review is for Publix Pharmacy at this location. For so many years I've been very happy with them but lately I've been noticing that their service is going downhill. I go in for a flu shot with an appointment yet they made us wait for 30 minutes after the appointment. They tell me that there are a lot of others being processed but there was no one else there. Been coming here for years & they have all my records. I feel stuck. Hopefully with this review they'll see it and improve their service. Here's hoping. read more

You know what, I'll just cut to the chase. Roni who was working the sub counter on Friday, March 1st, needs to be relocated to a position that requires little, to no customer contact. I understand that Publix hires certain individuals with special needs, but this is totally unacceptable. Not only were my partner and I blatantly ignored while instructing the assembly of ingredients on our little submarine sandwiches, but we were treated as a nuisance (we were not, we are very polite). I am a huge fan of Publix Supermarkets- I was on the other side of town and my local stores were out of Digiorno Meat lovers pizza- they were on sale and those are John's favorite! I had a cooler in the back for the thanksgiving turkey I had just picked up, so it was worth a shot. They did have a couple pizzas left in the case! It was Monday before the big turkey day, and the place was packed, but true to Publix standards- every employee was friendly and helpful. Checkout went smoothly and I was on my way out the door quickly! The parking lot was also crazy-busy. I had to wait longer to back my car out of the spot than I waited to check out! lol. Parking can be a bit congested depending on the time of the day or day of the year it is. There's restaurants and shops across from this supermarket. Parking is shared. With that being said on my last visit I came for a chicken tender sub. The wait was about 10 to 15 minutes with two people in front of me. Both sandwich stations were running. Also picked up some cookies. The sugar ones were great but the chocolate chip were definitely stale. They have self checkout and non checkout here. No issues there. read more

Yikes. The woman with red hair working the sandwiches took 32 minutes from the time she started applying mayo to my sandwich to the time she finished it. I kid you not. My sandwich was literally the only one being worked on-- a standard, cold ultimate sub. I chose from the veggies and bread that were still available and it still took 32 minutes. There were literally 5 workers and no other orders. I was extremely friendly the entire interaction, but she had to ask me what bread and cheese I wanted 3 times, and she was clearly irritated that she had to be there and wanted it to be known. She forgot oil and vinegar, and when I mentioned it as she was applying the sticker, she snapped "I already heard that" and then decided to add some in before closing the bag. Very bizarre and weird energy. Paying Publix prices for a Dollar General experience isnt worth it. Will stick to the San Marco or Roosevelt locations. read more

they were not very helpful, i asked for my order from the meat department, and the staff actually snapped at me and my father. staff was very ignorant to my mum who HAS CANCER and blew off the fact that we are just trying to get our things like any other customer. we told them to just keep the meat because they wouldn't give the right one and the staff said they'd feed it to their own family, i was distraught. read more

Beware! You must look presentable when visiting this Publix location because if you are a local to this neighborhood you will run into everyone you know. As far as the review on the establishment; it's a large, clean Publix with a huge parking lot that is full 75% of the time. A pharmacy is located to the right as you enter and further right is their deli, sandwich station and bakery. Most items are kept in stock except for the occasional sell out around the holidays. (They ran out of eggnog the day before Christmas and there was quite the southern display of passive-aggressive condemnation.) They have everything you would expect and if you ask for assistance they provide it with a smile. read more

This is a typical Publix. Nicer than Winn Dixie. They keep it clean. They are very nice in the meat department particularly since I often show up and ask for 30 lbs of soup bones for my dogs... They pack them up with a smile every time! The beer selection is surprisingly good. The frozen section has Talenti Gelato my personal high calorie favorite. The people in the deli are always nice and the sandwich makers are awesome. I have never had a bad experience in this Publix. read more

I agree with several others who have written that this is the best Publix in Jacksonville. I love this one! I get water and a couple of prescriptions from the one on 103rd street near my house, but when I want to shop, this is the Publix I come to. This Publix is super clean and it definitely lives up to its motto "Where Shopping Is A Pleasure!" The employees are extra friendly and helpful, and they always seem to be smiling. The store is quite large and everything is so fresh. Everything is neatly organized and the lighting is great. They always have enough cashiers so the check out process moves quickly. It's nice when I have to come here without hubby because the guys who do the bagging are more than happy to help me to my car with my groceries. The only negative thing I have to say about this Publix is that the parking is horrible. They have a huge lot, but this Publix is always so busy that it can be quite difficult to find a parking spot sometimes. read more

I love Publix. What can I say? No other grocery rivals its selection, freshness and above all, customer service. It's definitely pricier than some other chains, but they also offer numerous buy one, get one "BOGO" deals and great specials on a weekly basis. What makes this Publix superior to others in the River City? First, the size! This is a huge store, with endless aisles and easy accessibility. Everything is nicely spaced out, so it really is a pleasure to take your time shopping. It's also impeccably clean. The employees though really are the best. Take, for instance, Theresa. She is an eccentric, older lady who I've seen primarily offering samples from what is on sale currently at the Publix Bakery. She sets up towards the main front door and is a delight to chat with. (She offers some generous sample servings too!) My husband and I caught her the week of Christmas offering apple pie samples. She was all decked out in Christmas gear (see my photo!) She even educated us that this particular Publix is the second largest in the state of Florida! The employees also take the time to help you and will personally walk with you to a particular item when you ask for assistance. I once had a manager running around looking for currents for a recipe that called for them! Who eats currents these days?! In case you were wondering, I subbed raisins for them. ;P So, in summation, this grocery store really is the best of the best. I'll always be a Publix girl. read more

This is our go-to Publix because my boyfriend thinks it's in a more civilized area than the supermarket I frequent. For the most part, parking is manageable. I like that they have a little area to park up front if you're just dropping off your boy to grab some wine. This mini roundabout has been very convenient for me since sometimes I don't go inside or when it's raining hard outside. Overall from our experience, this Publix is always clean, every worker is friendly and helpful, the shelves are usually well stocked and the BOGOs every week keep us coming back again and again. I only wish they had some type of loyalty program to reward Publix customers who shop at their stores on a regular basis. Then, this would be a weekly stop for me. read more

This was a quick trip to pickup medicine at the pharmacy. It was raining and once you got inside there were plenty of plastic umbrella bags to keep your umbrellas from dripping and causing slippery floors. Looking around you see all of the staff had masks on and the registers had plastic guards. The personnel in the pharmacy were very quick to ensure the patrons weren't in line long. This is our normal pharmacy and they are quite efficient. read more

One of the best Publix Stores in Jacksonville. AKA the "Old Timer Publix" versus the "Baby Size Publix" near 5Points. We have went hundreds of times over the last 13 years and have found the store to be very well organized, staff helpful, and fresh meat / produce. They offer Aprons demonstrations and have well organized isles and end cap displays. I think the flow of the store makes easy to transition from Produce -Bakery - Butcher Items - General Food slash Home needs - and finally Dairy & Freezer items before you hit check out. Obviously, in Florida picking up your cold items last keeps them better for transport. Can you find better value and deals other non- Publix stores? Yes, but you have heard the quote. "You get what you pay for" Food is about quality indeed, when it comes to food the food you ingest is very important and so quality matters. We enjoy the "Green Wise" line of groceries at this location seems to be more expansive. This section has natural and organic selections. I am very used to our tiny Publix in Riverside, so every time I've come here, I become overwhelmed by the layout and order of the stock. Nostalgia and familiarity keeps me coming back to this Publix even though there is a Publix closer to my current residence. It is your standard Publix, albeit smaller than some other ones. If you have not set foot inside a Publix, you must not be from the southeast. It's essentially one of the competing grocery stores primarily in the south. Restrooms are in the front of the store, near customer service. The highlights of Publix includes their fried chickens, - a serious contender among fried chicken chains imo; and bakery, who doesn't love bday cakes from publix!? Publix subs are also a fan-favorite. However, I was not a fan of the $7 Publix "banh mi." That's more of a cultural thing for me because I am Vietnamese and I refuse to pay more than $3 for a banh mi. I like this Publix because they're pretty busy so the produce, meats and bakery selections are always great. I am extremely disappointed with this Publix Deli. I often go to the one in town center and get a Vegetarian SUB. And ask to have Hummus in it. I've been doing it for years and no one said anything. The only time (First time) I come to this deli, they tell me they can't put hummus in it. I even offered to pay extra. But they said I have to purchase the pre made subs. (They're not fresh and they're not vegetarian) So I asked if they can make an exception for one day for me. Since I've already waited in line for so long. Basically, I've always come to experience great service and cleanliness and this Roosevelt store. The people are friendly, welcoming, and they appear to always recognize you when you come in. It says a lot about grocery store when they see thousands of people a week and yet they still recognize the regulars and are happy to see them. This keeps me coming back again and again. Publix administration does not enforce COVID-19 precautions. They allow people without mask to shop inside the store. Customers do not maintain social distancing and the supermarket was packed. The produce and bakery sections are vibrant and there are so many varieties of fruits and vegetables. I've never been disappointed by the quality of the produce, meats, or seafood at this location. The staff is friendly and accommodating -- they greet you with a smile in their eyes and an offer to help. I especially love the wine selection. Is the deli at this location about to go out of business? You can walk in at 8:15 and the hot food case is broken down for closing, but they don't close for almost another two hours. Tonight there were four people in line for sandwiches, with only one sandwich-maker. Two of three stations were shut down. Soups were taken out so long ago that you can see the clean soup chafers on the back counter. Fried chicken case had three boxes total. All sides were already packaged in togo containers and were definitely not held at an adequate temperature. Employees in the back will look at you, clearly needing assistance, and go back to their business without any acknowledgement. I get it, things take time and employees are busy, but customer service is a cornerstone of the Publix experience. The Roosevelt location falls short nearly every time. read more
