On 3 separate occasions I experienced racial discrimination at the customer service counter at the Miami Shores Publix, Store #794. When I got to the counter, the customer service employee told me to come back in 5 - 10 minutes because she did not want a line to form. After telling her I would wait, she put up the lane closed sign. Each time as I walked away, I turned around and she had taken the sign down and was assisting other customers. The first 2 encounters I did not say anything, but when it happened a 3rd time I decided that was enough. After bringing this up to Publix corporate customer service, the assistant store manager, Mr. Moncada, offered to "make this right, we would like to offer you a refund or replacement for your inconvenience, or a rain check if applicable". His response was almost as offensive as the treatment I received by the employee. Discrimination is not "an inconvenience". As they say, an organization is only as good as its management team. Shopping at the Miami Shores Publix is not a pleasure. read more

This Publix location is established on a very busy downtown street in the heart of Miami. It was very conveniently located to my hotel when I needed to purchase last minute items. It was actually very well stocked and maintained. The employees were very friendly and helpful when I couldn't find certain items. read more

I needed a few things for the cruise I was going on. Thankfully this Publix is near the hotel I was staying at the Hilton Blue Lagoon. I was able to purchase some sunscreen, aloe vera, and soda for the cruise. The sunscreen and aloe vera were musts on our Caribbean cruise as it was so hot, my mother and I got really bad sunburns while on the trip. The aloe vera saved us. The pop was expensive but less so than purchasing on the cruise. Good purchase and experience overall. read more

Publix is the grocery store I seem to always see anytime I visit Florida. I would like to give this grocery chain more stars, but something about them seems off for my buying experience. I want to give a higher rating because this store in particular seems to always have samples available. I always see customers at the deli consistently asking for samples. They have a spot in the front of the store where simple recipes are prepared and samples are given out. The setup reminds me of an HEB store in Texas. I rather like that aspect of the store. I think my issues come when I comparative shop here. Simple items like rotisserie chicken is a sore spot for me. I'm used to a sizable $5 or $6 chicken in various other stores. Publix has smaller chickens for generally a dollar more than my normal chickens. Another sore spot for me is the clearance section comparative. Their section is so small with very few items. When it's all said and done, it is simply a grocery store so your experience may vary. Customer service at this location is always solid. Publix brand items may be decent deals. You can't truly demand more from them...but they also can't demand a higher star rating. read more

I have never wanted to return anything at Publix until today. I went to get a pub sub before going to the beach and instead of the fried tenders i decided to try the baked tenders thinking they were the same just baked. Wrong! They are completely coated in rosemary! And no warning of this! So i got my baked tenders with honey mustard banana peppers and a shit load of rosemary. I looked through several of the reviews and saw several very poor ones. Maybe I've been jaded. I've visited all of the Publix stores in, and around, the Pensacola, FL area and can honestly say that other than they seem to be slightly more expensive and their fried chicken isn't very good, I really enjoy shopping there. Customer service is fantastic. They always have plenty of lines open to handle the number of customers in the store. I enjoy being able to order deli items online and pick them up later at the service area so I don't have to wait at the deli counter. The bread and bakery goods are really tasty. I really like their fresh produce section and their meat is superior to any grocery store in the area. They can't compete with a butcher shop, but for a grocery, the meat is pretty good. I'm writing this review this evening because I went to Publix earlier and bought fried chicken for the first time. This is really the first negative experience that I've had with Publix. I'm not saying that we didn't eat the chicken, I'm saying that it wasn't good enough to justify the decadence. We'll stick with Popeye's for fried chicken and leave Publix for all of our grocery needs. read more

Not sure what's going with this Publix but be prepared for delays. I've attempted to online order deli meat here numerous times and it's basically never ready nor do they find record of my request either. The produce section is limited on the lush greens in the organic section so hopefully romaine is your thing. The aisles seem to be congested at any time of the day no matter the season. It's not the most efficiently operating location from what you're guessing. The shopping center tends to be a bit cluttered and full of potholes so maneuvering around to find a spot could be challenging to say the least. It's the last stop (or first) exciting the 836 so it's location is vital but they could learn a thing or two about operating in a timelier fashion. This Publix is the local publix in my area and for 5 years I've had to go to the Publix in coral gables a whole city away when I want chicken because when you order chicken here the Hispanic lady tells you that very time -" what I fried is outside I don't have anymore chicken and she won't make you fresh chicken, I've asked please to check and she doesn't she just tells you No she doesn't speak English working at a Publix- as if that wasn't worst enough I complained to the manager a few times once they told me they always have chicken and she has to make it fresh at what ever time I felt bad and I left they did nothing of the matter. That time I went at 7 asked her if she had chicken she said she dint have chicken and dint even check she just said flat out no and that she was cleaning the fryer already at 7 something pm (so rediculous).. that was one of the times I put the complaint- I made it to the other Publix before 9pm the lady from the other Publix went checked to see if she had and fried me the chicken almost at 10pm I said thank you to her and told her how grateful I was for her even going to check and see if she had chicken .. that's good customer service. If you want fresh fried chicken don't go here and ask for it because most of the time the short lady with black long hair under a cap with black frame glasses is going to tell you No. I've never in my life of living have encountered such poor customer service . I downloaded this app just to give this review because today I won't to ask for chicken again at 6:10 pm hoping to get lucky and she leaned against the furniture and said she dint have chicken a boy came out from the back and said there's a box here and as I walked out and said I'm never coming here again she came to tell me she'll fry me the chicken because we heard a man come out and say he checked and there's chicken. She was shocked up and went to fry the chicken . This has to be the worst Publix. I hate coming here but since I'm the way home I torture myself. I stopped by today to pick up a sub and the line was five deep. I'm hungry for an Ultimate Sub( I love publix subs) so I hang in there. They take foooooooorrrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrr. The worst part is probably the clientele here. The mom in front has no control of her kid and he starts just throwing anything he can get his hands on at me 'cause I made the mistake of smiling at him. The guy behind me decides to listen to some awful music on his phone without headphones on ( who does that?!?). Ok so this review is a long time coming. This Publix is within a mile of my house so (unfortunately) I frequent it. I gave up on it long ago for groceries by going to Trader Joe's, however, we do have to pick up a thing or two from here on occasion. Let me start by saying, I believe in helping the community and providing jobs for the elderly but this Publix takes it to another level. It is, quite literally, staffed with employees that probably belong in skilled nursing facilities. And because of that, the service in all sections is PAINFULLY SLOW. The deli is consistently 5-6 people deep and the cash registers (when there are more than 3 open) take eons to check out. Avoid this Publix at all costs and go to the one on 16th and 57th Ave or on Flagler and 97th. Both are sooooo much better... read more

"I Brake for Viejitos": That's the name of this review. Depending on the hour of the day - this place is either swamped or empty. But regardless of what time you come - be prepared to maneuver your cart around wheeled walkers and people who are seemingly lost at times. Not only that - it's a pretty small Publix and the aisles are kinda small, so that doesn't help. And the most registers that I've ever seen open are four. Now not EVERYONE here is old - but significantly more than other Publix's I've been too. If you are stuck in traffic on W. Flager going Westbound - then make your stop here. It's a pretty convenient stop for me when I'm coming from the East - on my way to p/u my kids from daycare. But if you can get to the LeJeune Publix - you're much better off. read more

I went to the bakery in this supermarket and the lady was so kind to put a snowman cupcake in a container without damaging it. I went to the cashier and a worker called Milagros squished the container ruining my cupcake. I didn't say anything but I was raging. I was raging because she saw she ruined it and didn't do anything and proceeded to keep texting. Dear Publix, I was torn between the 2 and 3 star ratings and ultimately downgraded. This Publix is rather small and crowded, which is not a good combination. Even the door to get inside you is small, and doesn't fit more than 2 people with carts at a time. And the parking lot?! A total madhouse. I stopped in here on my way to my prima's house for my niece's first birthday. I figured I'd bring some beer for the adults and see what other last minute items might be necessary. Funny enough, I actually ran into my prima here, picking up the birthday cake! As I tried to decide on which beer to grab, my attention was grabbed by the Newcastle mini-kegger that was already icey-cold. I couldn't be more excited! Then, I needed to make my way out of your establishment, so off the crowded registers I went... I managed to find a cashier who was able to get the line moving pretty quickly, so my wait was not as long as I first expected. As other have noted, this is the spot for elderly Latins to shuffle around and not buy much. The really old ones who don't have the stamina to follow someone around can be found with their keisters parked on the benches inbetween the sets of automatic doors. They stare at you with puppy-dog eyes that beg you "take me with you, por favor." I don't think I've ever used a shopping cart here, there just isn't enough space to maneuver one without bumping into one of the aformentioned shufflers. On to the positives: they always have fresh fried chicken the seafood section is small, but they usually have what I'm looking for. they've recently added a craft beer section with a couple Dogfish Heads, 3 Magic Hats, a couple Abitas and Carib. they always have boston butts in the pork section. Most supermarkets in this area only carry them seasonally but I can always find one here if I'm in the mood for 5 lbs of pulled pork. they're the only supermarket around that carries the Cheddar Rold Gold pretzels. I LOVE them. The first time I saw them here, I bought 10 bags. The parking lot can be look like a Calcutta swapmeet if you're here during the rush and I would have given this 2 stars but I'm usually here on the way home from work around 330pm and it's not bad then. read more

This is by far the worst Publix I've ever visited. Let's start with The Deli because this section is excruciatingly sloooooowwwwww. The ladies behind the counter are pushy on making you buy the items that are on special. I had one lady tell me that she was trying to save me money by suggesting I buy the Publix brand instead of the Boars Head brand. I'm always very specific of how I want my deli meats and always order enough for the week so that I don't waste money and throw out unused meats. It's like this is a foreign concept to them. The idea of ordering "10 slices" as opposed to 1/2 a pound is almost offensive at this Publix. Online ordering might as well not exist at this Publix because they almost always get your order wrong. The Produce department is seriously lacking. Their selection is low (seriously where are the sweet potatoes?!) and on several occasions I've come across items that are rotten! Gross! The rest of the store could use some attention. It's clean but sometimes items are expired. I can't wait for the new Publix to open on 57th! read more

What can you expect from a supermarket? Nothing extraordinary. Except here! I had such a great interaction with the staff, the check out lady was nice, but who really blew me away was Johnny the bag guy. He asked if I needed help to my car and I actually did because I had so many bags to carry and then while walking me and my groceries to my car he informed me all subs would be $5.99 for this week. For the most part, I enjoy coming to this Publix location... The traffic in this shopping center is a little uneasy and sometimes it may even be faster to find parking in a crowded mall, but I come here anyways. I have an addiction and it's not one I don't plan on getting over anytime soon and I get my fix here. What is it that has me so hooked that I refuse to seek help? Well I'm glad that you've asked (hoping that you actually did ask). The Publix subs have corrupted my very soul. Boars Head deli meat, 15-grain hoagies and all of the toppings I could ever imagine... Oh boy, I'm licking my lips as I write this! Like most/all (haven't done much research) Publix locations, this one offers online ordering. Anytime I "accidentally" forget to pack my lunch for work, I always pre-order online and pick up my sub at the store. I'm Literally there for 5 mins and on my way back to work with 50 minutes left on my break. The trouble with pre-ordering sometimes is that when they're going through a hectic lunch rush, you have the chances of getting your ticket lost through all of the commotion; but if you let a staff member know that you've been waiting for longer than your expectant time - they'll be happy to work on your sub ASAP.
