Publix is blurring the lines between high prices and price gouging. As supply chain problems improved, Publix stubbornly held on to their price increases. They have led the way in the nations mindless money grubbing price increases fueling the endless onslaught of unnecessary higher pricing in all business areas. Massive profits during the worlds health crisis fueling evil greed. There is now no way back. While price gouging prices do prevail and the post pandemic greed permeates within the organization, the service and selection is still a part of the landscape. In this location the deli dissappoints with regularity, it's service abysmal, they have better things to do than help a customer. Pharmacy and meat are the better departments. For the most part there are many great employees no doubt designed to lessen the sting of pricing. If your a wise and knowledgable shopper, you can offset higher prices by being open to what is on sale and limiting your compulsive urges. Get most of your basics elsewhere where the same items are cheaper. Have a list, be flexible, get in, get out and shop elsewhere. read more

We moved into Carrolwood last year and started shopping at this location. The staff are always helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The store is set up completely different from our old store so it took a minute to acclimate to this store but I really enjoy the layout and find that the layout just makes sense. We are In this store at least twice a week and will continue to visit for our grocery needs. The pharmacy has also been exceptionally helpful. read more

I love Publix...it's my supermarket of choice but I absolutely hate the layout of this store and doesn't seem to have the selections that my Publix of choice does have. I mainly come to this one out of convenience when I'm visiting my grandmother since it's close to where she's staying, however I cringe when I have to come here. This is the main reason that I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. Publix always keeps their supermarkets super clean and the staff is always super helpful and friendly. read more

I like this Publix. It was recently remodeled and looks closer to how the Greenwise Publixes are. The staff is helpful and cheerful, as Publix employees are known for. I typically come here when I want a salad for lunch, as there is a decent salad bar in the deli area. Whenever they're out of something, an employee will always go in the back to get more if I ask. I even had one come up to me without me asking because I was looking all over creation for the to-go boxes with no luck. He came back with an armful fairly quickly. As it's priced by weight, you can accidentally find yourself buying $15 worth of salad. But they do have smaller boxes, so you can practice safer portioning. I also like this Publix because there are many convenient exits out of the parking lot, so I'm never waiting in line to get back out onto the main road. As far as grocery stores go, I've always loved Publix, and this one is pretty solid. read more

Bought pre-packaged ravioli, took them home, and discovered them to be moldy... I don't mean a little bit moldy, I mean grossly moldy. Took them back, got a simple refund, no more, no less... but the most troubling part was that no one appeared to really care or bat an eyelash as if moldy pre-packaged food is commonplace at this location. This Publix does not care... they have plenty of people coming through whom they are taking for granted one at a time. read more

A really good Publix. This location was renovated in the last year and they really did a great job. Publix Supermarkets are always clean, organized and have friendly staff to help you with whatever you need. They have all the usual stuff a Publix has, with a few extras you don't see very often. I have stopped there for a wonderful salad from the salad bar whenever I am in that area for lunch. The veggies are always fresh and beautiful, and I much prefer this to the prepackaged salads. I wish the Publix closer to me had this! They also have an olive bar, which is a very good thing. The fancy cheese section is larger than other stores. There are two factors that bring this store down to a four, and they are all about layout. The deli area is just cramped. A lot of publix stores have this issue, and traffic flow over there can be hairy. Also, they completely blocked the end of aisle 1 from the front of the store. So if I'm at the end of Aisle 1, and I realize I forgot my bakery buns, I have to go all the way back up the aisle and allllll the way back to the bakery, which was spitting distance from where I just was, but separated by a wall. Small things to some, but Publix sets a high bar. Overall, a nice, new Publix with some extra features. read more

This is a newly renovated Publix is full with the great bogo deals and customer service as all it's other locations. I don't particularly like the huge partition of Produce separating the rest of the store, but it does leave a nice open area in the middle of that and the Deli. The Deli at this Publix does not only have chairs and tables, but they gave a cold case of entrees and sides you can put together for a quick meal. For $6 you get a lesser entree (red tag) like Chicken Quesadillas or Honey Bourbon Chicken Drumsticks versus a $10 entree (blue tag) selection like Blackened Chicken breast or Turkey Meatloaf. Both come with your choice of two sides (yellow tag) like 4 cheese macaroni or Asparagus with Blue cheese crumbles. Heat it up or eat cold, it's a good deal on the run and you can change it up each time! FYI, this is only one of a few Publixs in Tampa that has this selection. read more

I'm glad they remodeled this Publix. The old building felt a little crowded. The remodeled it to have the same exact layout as the newest Publix on Dale Mabry, also in Carrollwood. The flow is much better. The bakery and wine section is set up with a better flow. They offer the better cheese selection here as well. I also appreciate where the seafood seasoning and condiments are set up just before you hit the seafood case. It gets me in the mood to make blackened fish before I even see the fish. It also appears the staff has been upgraded to Publix standards as well. I have no idea if this was formerly an Albertsons, but I noticed when Publix bought out all the Albertsons they inherited employees that didn't know how to conform to The Publix way..."where shopping is a pleasure." The attitude in this Publix now appears to be what you would expect at a Publix. read more

Publix is a real Florida treasure that is unmatched by other grocery stores / food markets. They have been setting the standard for outstanding customer service since the first store opened in Winter Haven in 1930. This particular Publix is located in the Westgate Shopping Center near the intersection of Gunn Highway and Andersen Road. This is a "medium-sized" neighborhood Publix, and not like their big brother mega-mart located on Gunn Highway near Sickles High School. The quality of produce, fresh fruit, meats, fish, deli counter, bakery and so on is superb, and the legendary customer service is some of the best in the grocery industry. I like this store because it is easy to pop in, find what you need, pay for it, and pop back out. read more

This is a large Publix, and has everything I think I will ever need. They have a much larger selection of items than the smaller store I used to frequent near where I used to live. I love the ice cream selection... it is huge, and even has a fairly large dairy ice cream section for my girlfriend. it is clean, easy to navigate, and the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

I was across the street at CVS and noticed this Publix, so I stopped in to get a sub for lunch. The Publix did not seem very appealing from the exterior, but I was impressed by the inside. It seemed like it had recently been remodeled. Upon getting to the sub counter, I was not acknowledged by anyone in the deli. I stepped back to look around for anyone else and someone finally called the lady from the deli to come help me. I ordered a chicken tender sub, which I usually get tossed in buffalo. The lady making my sub told me that she would pout it on because they were no longer allowed to toss the chicken in buffalo. This was always just done in a plastic bag, so I'm not sure why they stopped doing that, but it was fine. When the lady making my sub was asking for my toppings, I asked her for tomatoes on half. She cut the tomatoes on half and put them on the whole sub. I asked her to only put them on half, she seemed offended and said "I did cut them in half" I again repeated my request and she said oh and took the extra halves off. Covid19... Either this location has not been advised of the 6 feet apart recommendations by the CDC or they just don't care. While in the check out line the manager walked within one foot of the customer and employee. Most employees are not following the CDC 6 feet apart distance. They are permitting many customers into the store as well, in other words it's packed with people breathing talking and spreading germs throughout. There is no sanitizer wipes for employees therefore one employee touches my groceries and 50 or more others without sanitizing between customers. I hope those employees don't get sick and all the customers visiting this location. read more

The deli in this Publix is the absolute worst. Every.single.time I come here there is ALWAYS an issue along with a ridiculously long wait (although there always seem to be 20 ppl walking around in yellow shirts back there). The only reason I keep coming back is unfortunately it is the closest Publix to my house and with a short lunch break my hand gets forced. Do better! They repeatedly try to short change and over charge, and I've even gotten into a heated exchange with a sandwich maker because she insisted on telling me that brown mustard and Dijon were the same. Publix is one of those southern wonders that never (well, almost never) fails to delight its shoppers. Particularly known for its bakery items, and now, (at least for me) its deli! It wasn't until recently that I learned Publix makes sub sandwiches at its deli much like Subway - except better. lol Their subs are fresh fresh fresh in a way that even Subway can't quite match. The bread is made fresh daily and while so is Subway's, the difference here is it's literally made from scratch every day. You can choose your meats from Boar's Head or go with Publix. Frankly, for just about all of the sandwiches, I would tell you to stick with the Publix deli meats. There's really no discernible difference between the two after you've stacked on your veggies and mayo. Save yourself the 50 cents. Now, this particular store has a very bright, clean inside (typical for Publix) but seems to be undergoing some remodeling here and there because occasionally you'll stumble across wires hanging out of little areas. The employees are friendly (mostly) though some of them can be quite comical in their attempts to fend for the customer. I stood in line behind a gentleman who was also ordering a sub while an employee prepared several sub sandwiches for an order she'd apparently received awhile ago. There were several other deli workers scrambling around behind the counter preparing various items. Finally, after apologizing to the man about 18 times, the lady looks towards her other co-workers and screams, "I need someone over here! HELL-OOOHHHH!" Then she looks at me and offers an apology by way of smile. Overall, Publix is a great place to do your shopping, and typically has some pretty good deals too. I've been to a lot of Publix locations over the past years and this one might be the nicest. From the minute you walk in the interior here is clean, modern and everything has a place. It seems to be recently renovated and it sure looks it. The deli area features tons of grab and go entrees along with a salad bar, soup bar, and even an olive bar. Yes, an olive bar. It sits right near the wine selection that is very organized and simple to navigate through. The BOGO wine was featured right outside of the wine area, which made my visit even easier. The salad, soup and olive bars are all priced by weight so it really requires some discipline not to go crazy. The selections during my time here were all fully stocked and everything was well presented and looked fresh. This location was very easy to navigate through and every aisle was just as clean, stocked and neat as the next. I can only hope my neighborhood Publix will eventually be as good as this one. read more

I swear this Publix has the BEST customer service of any Publix in the area. Every time I go here, the employees go above and beyond to help me out. Kudos to the manager and staff who make this happen! For example, I recently got a salad pack that was BOGO but they only had one left. I took it anyway and forgot the deal. A few minutes later, the produce guy came and hunted me down to give me an extra pack he had found in the back. That's good customer service! Thanks Publix I love you. read more

i love publix but this is one of the WORST ones, every time. i frequently would end up with expired goods. the premade sandwhiches at the deli are hit or miss. last time iI grabbed an italian and it was an all ham, and like tripple the amoubt, with pepperoni. no other meats? not a huge deal. but this last time...i bought a bottle of wine. paid for it. and didnt realize the cashier nor bagger put it in our cart. i paid for a bottle i didnt get to have or take home. the staff isnt as professional or friendly at this one either, but im super annoyed that iI bought 3 month old expired granola AND wasted $22 on a bottle of wine i was excited to try, for nothing. read more

When i first moved out to Florida, I figured Publix just another grocery store from the East Coast or the South, like Food Lion. But after living near one for 4 years, I quickly appreciated the quality of products, incredible cleanliness, and friendly staff...not to mention the Boar Head meats and Boar Head sandwiches! I have two other stores around me; I choose this Publix over the other two for many reasons. First Parking here is easy, and the plaza can be accessed from multiple main avenues. The store is very organized, from the moment you walk in carts are available and functional. The organization of the store is something that keeps bringing me back. The store is divided into multiple identifiable sections such as produce and Deli, seafood and meats, dairy and a pharmacy. The aisles are well organized, and labels are placed at the front and back of each aisle with product categories. Also, the staff here is very kind and helpful. read more

Why 5 stars? Because I like affordable food without the guilt. I refuse to shop at that master of corporate greed...Walmart. I won't get on my soapbox though. Back to the beauty of Publix...it's clean, with ample room in the aisles, and a sort of uplifting atmosphere...maybe it's all the green. :-) They have plenty of friendly, helpful check-out clerks, who always ask if they can help you to your car. They have a decent organic isle, and produce as well. It's not Whole Foods, but hey, I don't want to pay 2-3x more for everything in my cart. If I need some special organic item I either order it online or head to Abby's health food store. Publix will order an item they don't usually carry if you make your desire known though. They also have excellent BOGO deals every week, which I am just a sucker for! read more

This Publix is convenient and centrally located at a popular intersection. The store is kept clean and the employees are friendly. The pharmacy is small and sometimes doesn't have prescriptions on hand but will direct you to the closest store with the med or have it the next day. Overall I am glad this is my local Publix as the service does not disappoint! read more

This is a lovely older style Publix and one of three in my regular rotation. I've found they have a slightly larger selection of international foods and a few items in regular stock not found at other Publix locations. They have a good produce selection and the same excellent meats and seafood selections I've come to expect. The few times I've needed Customer Service, the staff has been friendly and helpful. Parking is easy though it can be hard to go north on Lynn/Turner coming out of this location if you are leaving right at rush hour. However, great prices, great staff and good selection - another great Publix location! read more

Ok, let's be realistic, all Publix's are not created equal. If you notice most of their markets take on more of the food for their demographic population. The one on Hillsborough & Habana, for instance, you can't buy a plain rotisserie chicken & they have a bigger section of Hispanic food items. I think it is great that Publix tries to cater to their primary clientele. There is one inherent problem in that concept, Tampa is a very blended and melded demographic city, a melting pot, most would say. Just because you live in Westchase doesn't mean you are more apt to eat organic & juice, or does it? I am sure Publix has spent a fortune on customer demographics, preferances and overall customer satisfaction. The basics at most Publix stores run about the same and the prices are all the same, except for an occasional manager special. Publix is well known for exceptional customer service & I agree it is top notch. If you are a regular & always use the same cahier, they will usually, point out coupons you may have missed in their monthly coupon book. They are always happy to do multiple orders, seperates perishables from the non perishables, run and get you the other half of your BOGO and give rain checks if they happen to run out of an item. They are happy to walk with you inside the store to find a specific item you desire, go into their supply area and look for an item, offer paper bags in place of plastic and almost always offer to take your groceries to the car. I am a super shopper and have been known to go to multiple grocery stores in the same day to pick up on sale or specialty items. I have never, even outside of Florida, seen a grocery store with overall better customer service, definitely 5* across the board in that area. Another major difference between Publix stores is their overall size. They range from 2 story in Hyde Park, to fairly small at the old, but good, Carrollwood location. This store I would put in the large end of mid size stores. Overall this chain, runs a clean, well stocked, good variety chain of grocery stores. Another plus is that they are pretty much laid out the same, so it is easy to run in and grab a few things, if that is all you need. No real differences with this Publix. I happen to like this store for day to day and some specialty items. I often pick up items for my mom, along with my groceries. She is diabetic and this store has more than the usual amount of diabetic ( sugar free) selections. This store is normally easy in & easy out, with plenty of cashiers available. I wish I could give them 5*'s overall, but I can't. Diabetes is unfortunately at epidemic proportions in the U.S.A. & all stores should have more food selections in all area's (including bakery) specifically for this population. The demographics deal with some individual stores, sometimes makes it more difficult to even run in and pick up a regular rotisserie chicken. My last major complaint is they are priced on the higher end of the spectrum. Overall, I enjoy shopping at Publix and though I have never worked for them, I know they are a fair, progressive and good employer, that affords many Floridian's equal & fair employment. In my humble opinion, I feel we are very fortunate to have access to Publix, but would really enjoy seeing them have more competition, not less. What's a girl to do?
