This was my first visit to Publix, but id heard great things about it for years. We went in hungry....stopped at the deli and....they have tons of food and specials, too! They have bundle specials for a special sandwich, chips, and drink. This is a bargain! The sandwiches are made to order and sooooo fresh and tasty. For a publix this place just kind of runs behind. It's not organized well, the isle are set up seemingly out of order and it doesn't hold the standard you come to expect from publix. But, they still have pubs subs and all the goodness of the hot section as well as kind staff and helpful people. I usually have a great experience shopping at Publix especially the one in Moultrie. After shopping at this Publix, I don't see myself returning to this location. This location has a very unprofessional cashier named Yvonne who's register I had the unfortunate experience of checking out at. For asking a question about my order I received the response, "You can't do the work of a first grader." Apparently asking a question results in being belittled. When I told her I needed to put in my phone number for my Publix account for she responded, "Well you need put it in then if you can figure out how." When the bagger walked out with me to the car, I asked him is she usually mean to customers and he told me he was sorry if she made me feel bad and try to not let it bother me. We needed to pick up a sandwich and some snacky stuff during our road trip up to Tennessee, and this Publix was not far off of I-75. A very convenient location surrounded by lots of different retail stores, drugstores, gas stations, and galore, this Publix was immaculate with plentiful amounts of parking. I ordered a chicken tender Pub sub that made me jump for joy without the need for a Chips Ahoy. I had the sub on white bread with banana and jalapeno peppers because of unicorns and shit. I had mayo and chipotle mayo on it with American cheese. And thus, my 6" sub was complete and ready to be eaten, which I did in the car before making our way back onto the interstate. The service was fast and easy, and I applaud Publix for their excellence, especially their deli, which is always on point. Praise Publix for their genius to the Pub-Sub. read more

I can say with conviction that this is my favorite grocery store in the whole world. Sure, there are bigger, nicer stores with larger selections and fancier organic foods, but I have never felt so at home in any other grocery store. The staff (for the most part) is exceptionally friendly and my husband and I know most of them by name. The man that Whitney T. referred to who works in the meat department will even specially cut a piece of meat for you based on your specifications. Everything is laid out in a systematic, logical manner, which makes finding what you need a breeze. The store is always clean and it is never too crowded when we go. It's hands down the best meat and produce available in a Valdosta grocery store. I disagree with another review that said this store doesn't compare with larger Publix stores in Atlanta. I lived in Atlanta for years and shopped at Publix frequently. The stores may be larger (although the ones I went to weren't), but I can guarantee their staffs couldn't hold a candle to the staff at the Valdosta Publix. read more

Best grocery store in Valdosta. Very clean store and it has a great selection of items that I can't find at other grocery stores. Meat and seafood selection is high quality and the main reason I go. Produce section is large and also includes items that I can only find here. Employees are always helpful and polite. Prices are a little higher than other stores but so is the quality. :) Deli is fantastic and has a small seating area to eat. The only grocery store that I will eat sushi from!! Luckily, here in Texas we have H-E-B's, but since I live in a smaller town than V-Town, no such luck. This is the closest Publix to Valdosta State University and it was our last stop before heading home. After a very long day of getting my daughter moved into her dorm room we wanted to make sure she was all stocked up. Passing through Valdosta and I needed a reliable grocery store to pick up some snacks, baby items, and lunch. This Publix met all my expectations. The baker was cheerful as he gave my children their favorite cookies. The store was clean and well kept. Deli service was on par and the cashiers entertained a conversation with my children while the bagger got a balloon for them. It's not quite as fancy as a Harris Teeter and it's smaller than the average Publix but these are very minor qualms. Great place to shop. It's not as cheap as it claims to be though. This Publix ( as with most of the company) is just rude and slow. It's supposed to be the premiere costumer service but the lines are always too long and I could here the customer service staff cuss sometimes. On one weekend the Pharmacy had 2 people... one was on the phone the whole time and the old man Pharmacist said one second and he just stood at his computer for 3 minutes. I just left angrily as he just ignored me. Shouldn't be too hard for a manager to work the register if you manage pills. Sure, they don't have Winn-Dixie's ubiquitous buy one, get one free deals, or Harvey's creepily folksy low-budget advertising, but when I plan to get into some SERIOUS BUSINESS in the kitchen, I head to Publix first. Until Valdosta gets a Whole Foods, New Leaf, or similar market, Publix is the best destination for organic and specialty ingredients. Need ground buffalo? How about preserved grape leaves? Habaneros? Plain yogurt meant for human consumption? Maybe some obscure cheese? This is the place. I'm also a huge fan of the Boar's Head subs from the deli department. Publix is my favorite and ONLY grocery store I purchase groceries from in Valdosta. It is always clean, well lit and the staff members are always smiling and ready to help you. I live near Moody AFB but I have no problem taking that drive to Valdosta Mall. Their deli is top notch. I love their fresh subs and freshly sliced meat which is always brimming with flavor. Top your Publix deli sub with "submarine" sauce. It's a mixture of oil, vinegar and herbs! This Publix is your best bet for grocery shopping in Valdosta but it just doesn't compare to the much larger Publix stores in Atlanta. Their selection is better than anywhere else in Valdosta, but again it is not on par with the larger Publix stores found in bigger cities. I have found that many times you can pick up many things cheaper at Publix than at Wal-Mart (like milk, bread, ect. ) And it's nice not to have to fight through the mess and clutter with the rest of the riff raff that shops at Wal-Mart. read more

Best grocery store, hands down, in Valdosta. The prices aren't as good as Walmart, but I don't exactly like what Walmart does in order to get those cheap prices. I buy all my meat from Publix because it actually tastes like meat and not like just salt brine. Everything is so clean, the staff is super friendly, and most importantly, the food is great. I've rarely, if ever, seen moldy or rotten produce on their shelves, their in-store salads made with the produce reserves are always fresh and taste like ripe fruit and vegetables and nothing else. They have the best organics department in town. The seafood department is better than most seafood-only places in town...never smells bad, fish is never dried out and is kept on ice, they offer never-frozen Mayport shrimp, and the sushi department is right next door and offers some really tasty sushi with an ever-expanding menu selection. Then you add in their deli department (subs better than you'd find at one of those fast food chains) and a bakery that uses real butter in their icing so it doesn't leave that nasty oil slick on your tongue like other places that use shortening or lard. Great for hard-to-find ingredients as well. Only place I've ever found that carries anchovy paste. At first I found that I spent more money in Publix than when I went to Walmart, but then I noticed that it tends to last longer. I developed a real appreciation for food and made simple meals like that didn't require a lot of costly meats or had to be made in large quantities. Really intense and rich ingredients like the anchovy paste just needed some pasta, garlic and some fresh veggies to create a filling supper. If you're the typical meat and potatoes cook who prefers things that come in boxes, then Walmart is the best store for you (and I don't say that as an insult) because they can offer these things at lower prices. However, if you like to experiment with recipes, go for the more exotic dishes, or are the type of person that values quality over quantity, then Publix is the place to shop. read more

The Gornto Rd. Publix continues to be the most friendly and accommodating groceries in the area. Today, the store honored its policy of correct pricing or the product is free.
