This is one of the smallest Publix's I've been to. And oddly, it is located off a busy road, Dale Mabry. The parking lot is small and has a lot of traffic coming in and out. This Publix is large and clean, and there is staff everywhere you look, ready to help you with anything you need. The shelves are always stocked well and if you can't find what you're looking for, a staff member will find it for you. The deli sandwiches are fantastic and the sushi is delicious. It's generally pretty crowded, making it hard to park sometimes and a slightly long wait at the register. But it's probably because it's such a great store that everyone wants to shop there. read more

This is one of the best Publix supermarkets I have ever been to. I wish I lived closer to this one, because it'd be my first choice for all of my shopping needs. I drove out of the way to this location because I wanted salmon steaks and this is the only location that carried it. I did some other shopping while I was there. Okay, as far as quality and selection goes, this Publix is awesome. Being the closest to where I currently work and live, I frequent his location often. Most often, I am here on lunch break for the BEST FREAKING SUB OF ALL TIME EVER!!! This is how you make it. BUFFALO CHICKEN TENDER ON WHITE. First dice up chicken and then cover in buffalo and ranch. Then get some if the DANK (meaning awesomely good) BOARS HEAD SPICY 3 PEPPER CO-JACK (I think that is right sometimes they screw up and do the Boars Head Spicy Gouda, that is also good). Then light onions and light tomatoes, and a good amount of pickles and jalepenos. BAM EAT THAT AND GO TO HEAVEN AND HELL AT THE SAME TIME. AWESOME!!!! This location also has a great selection of premade salads. The food at this location seems fresher. It is a normal Publix, not a Greenwise like the Publix closest to where I live. But for some reason this location seems as fresh or fresher than Greenwise. My only complaint is this place is ALWAYS SO CROWDED. Because of that, when I go do some massive grocery shopping, I usually end up at the Publix on Gandy. They are next to a Target and it just seems less crowded and more laid back down there. Because it is less crowded they often are well stocked, but no where near the selection of this location. If they expanded the parking lot to make it easier to find a parking spot when crowded, I would probably have to give this location 5 stars. read more

A pretty location with selections galore, but everything here is made haphazardly (to go selections made in store), salad bar, and coffee carafe was cold at noon (styrofoam cups were put out without lids, and the price is 1.69 for 12 oz???). This place cannot keep up with business and not worth shopping at. For shame. P.S. the hot bar is tepid and would be a danger if the food wasn't industrial cardboard with tomato sauce poured on top. read more

Okay, so was looking for supplies for Super Bowl, thought I would have to go to a meat market to get my "7" Bone Chuck roast and fresh chicken wings. The first meat market I called said no problem, then called the next day and said they couldn't do the bone in roast and the wings would be frozen. Called around to other market and the responses ranged from "What's a 7 bone roast" to "yeah I think they are fresh, Tyson ships them to us" Called Publix, asked for the butcher. He said no problem to the 7 Bone, what size. I asked about the wings, he said fresh and would I like the tips trimmed and the drummettes separated. WOW, what incredible service. I really tried to shop "local", but I am figuring out that Publix is truly local for me and will not venture out again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

Publix is known for being overpriced but it's due to keeping their store nice and clean looking. I often find a deal with their BOGO from time to time but I usually come here for their fresh garlic, hot wings and sushi. I am disappointed that at 12pm (lunch) time, they are not prepared with a variety of sushi which I know they have besides the 2nd level shelving that has spicy tuna and California rolls. The first shelving usually has specialty rolls and salmon nigiri. I understand if it's 11am but people usually have lunch at 12pm. You would think they would have all their sushi's available at this time, especially at a grocery store like Publix that prides themselves to be one of the best. read more

The Publix is a large supermarket, that offers a large variety in products. I have always found the employees to be extremely helpful. This Publix certainly has an energetic and vibrant feel to it with how many people go there. Their employees really do know how to clear out their long lines and keep things moving! That also leads me to my next point to what I do not like about this Publix: the people! It is on South Dale Mabry, so it's no surprise that this store is always packed. Going to this one offers the small hassle of enduring traffic to get there and taking the time to simply find a parking spot. On a day where I'm conveniently driving by it, then its a good place to get groceries. But if I am leaving the house to drive to quickly grab some items last minute then I'm going to make sure to go to a different store. I love shopping at Publix. But I was just there and they are no signs around telling you about what item that you can buy only one. I'm shopping for me in my mother and I get half way up to the cashier and some one pass by and shout out she got to eggs so one of the employees reach into my shopping cart and took one carton of eggs. now I really understand why they are asking us to only purchase 1 item but I think it need to be posted Near that item. read more

Put on your best and don't be in a rush at this Publix. This is the million dollar Publix(highest grossing sales in town) so it's packed with beautiful people. Go to shop and see the latest fashions because you don't see anyone wearing less then business casual, lol. However, the Publix ultimate sub Boars Head is the best sub in town. read more

Never really had any issues here, very clean, nice staff, typical Publix. I am pretty annoyed however because my boyfriend went to pick up sushi and this is the second time the same man behind the counter refused to make the specialty sushi rolls that they have ON THE MENU HE PROVIDED US. He said "we make all the sushi and put it out and whatever is there is what you have to choose from". Very disappointed in this Publix. I have been shopping at Publixs for about 5 decades. If George Jenkins walked in this store he would fire the entire management team. I extolled the virtues of Publix to my fiancée who is from an area with no Publix. She has gone 4 or 5 times and says the same thing each time. Prices are noticeably higher than Wal-Mart AND the customer service at the Gandy Walmart is MUCH better than this Publix. "Shopping is a pleasure" does NOT apply to this store. read more

This has become my favorite Publix since moving to South Tampa. It is one of the larger stores in town, so they always seem to have plenty of everything and a few extras, like a great cheese section. I am a big fan of the Publix chicken fingers and the Mac and Cheese for a splurge. I have also gotten quite a few recipes from the Aprons demonstration. I am not much of a cook, so having everything spelled out for me is pretty convenient. Trader Joes is still my number one for groceries, but Publix is a close second. read more

I will give this Publix a decent 3 out of 5 stars. The staff is very friendly and always insists on helping me out to my car even though I look like I can handle it. Management is always by the front and are accessible to the customer at any time. But while the service and selection are great there are some things I would fix about this location. First, the deli gets slammed around lunch time so it is hard to grab a sub and go like many other locations. Also, it is practically impossible to park because there are always so many people at this shopping plaza and only a handful of spaces. Carts are often blocking some of these spaces too. Overall friendly staff, but too crowded for me to be a regular at this location. read more

They have the worst customer service at this location! The attitudes are unbelievable and nobody is friendly! From the customer service desk to the cashier it's just a horrible miserable experience! They must really hate there jobs or there lives to be so miserable towards people. I absolutely hate going to Publix and hardly shop here because the prices are so high and the lack of customer service. Every once in awhile they have a few deals worth going for but not very often. I'm so thankful to live in south Tampa where i have better options with lower prices, healthier selections and friendlier places (Trader Joe's and sprouts). Overpriced mediocrity. That is what accurately describes Publix. Publix used to seem like an amazing grocery store, back when it only competed with Kash N Karry, Sweetbay, Winn-Dixie, and Albertsons. However, the chain grocery store options have gotten better in Tampa over the years including my personal favorite, Sprouts Farmers Market. Publix has a stuck in the '90's kind of vibe and not in a good way. This Publix is frequently out of crucial items, the other night I was here trying to find pizza dough and they only had one whole wheat pizza dough. I was looking for regular pizza dough but they didn't have that. On a Friday night?! The prepared food options are mediocre and the produce is ok but overpriced. I can get produce that is twice as good as the produce at Publix at half the price at Sprouts or at Cacciatore Brothers. The fish selection is decent, however Publix Greenwise has a much better and healthier fish selection. However, when it comes to finding fresh Icelandic yogurt in a variety of flavors, I go to this Publix. Overall, this Publix and most Publix stores are mediocre grocery stores and if you want affordable high quality produce, head to Sprouts or Cacciatore Brothers. read more

So I figured a review was necessary since I seem to find myself here fairly often even though I have access to the commissary on MacDill. For one, it's more convenient since Publix is closer to me. Also I just love coming in here for a variety of reasons. Their deli sandwiches are really good. Their chicken strips and potato wedges are wonderful as well. I love the meat section with the various creations, as well as the seafood and their variety of items as well. My wife loves the cheesecake. There is a small build your own six pack section in their beer area. You will even find Kirin on BOGO from time to time. The overall beer selection is a pretty good mix of local stuff, bigger crafts(think Sam Adams, Blue Moon, & Fat Tire seasonal assortments), and the big 3 affiliates. Can't really speak on prices much because when I'm here I'm either looking for something I can't get elsewhere, or the convenience and time saved is more of a priority. The employees here are very pleasant and friendly, making this an overall delightful shopping trip. read more
