Learned about this place after an episode of Top Chef 2026-Carolinas. Naturally I had to check it out since I love spicy sauces. After learning the history of Smokin' Ed and the new Pepper X, I really wanted to try it. I order (mail order) 3 different pepper x products: special reserve, table sauce & taco sauce. So far I've only had the opportunity to try the table sauce so far and I am not disappointed at all. While it offers a really good heat index, the flavor of the mix is good. I've put it on everything. The website and ordering process is very easy and they offer different specials upon signing up/ordering. My order was fulfilled with a few days and arrived in about 3 days or so. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases. read more

With a name like Pucker Butt, you know what's coming next! I've lived in the town of Fort Mill, SC going on 6 years now and have popped in from time to time just to check out the store but I never bought anything until today. I saw a YouTube video about Smokin Eddie Currie the owner and learned he had developed a pepper hotter than the Carolina Reaper called Pepper X. No a real snazzy name but it has been officially acknowledged at THE hottest pepper by The Guinness book. Smokin Eddie wasn't around but I bought some sauce anyway. They were having a holiday sale at 30% off so I had to get some, tis the season. You should know about the Scoville scale. Pepper hotness is a science and on the scale, the Pepper X is at the top of the chart. A Pimiento Pepper is up to 500 on the scale. Previously the Carolina Reaper was 2,500,000, yeah, that's two million five hundred thousand. Pepper X comes in a 2,693.000. You can see my photo of the Guinness record. (1/6/24) I returned to Puckerbutt after seeing that Pucker Duck was on sale. Surprisingly, for a Saturday, the store was nearly empty. I found the Pucker Duck easily & got a surprise as the chocolate bhutlah jerky was available as well. The young man behind the counter remarked that I really must love Pucker Duck. I bought ten bottles. I told him that I'd never tried it. I think it'll pair well with everything just from its description on the website. I was able to catch the tail end of the Christmas sale. I finally made it to the store in downtown Ft. Mill. I actually met some sales reps as a Vendor at the Italian Festival in St. Philip Neri this year. That's where I was introduced and tried out this company for the first time. The owner was at the festival also. This made me want to seek them out and support a local company. I've been using the bacon me crazy hot sauce since this Spring and like it ($10). I've put it on eggs, tacos, and quesadillas so far. This time I came to the downtown store to get some gifts for folks in Indiana. I like giving stuff that's local and sending for folks up there to experience. I bought 4 of the Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce ($10 each) and 4 of the Ed's Picnic Sauce ($8 each). For Ed's birthday they are running a special 17% off now July 30th thru August 17th (Ed's Birthday). So, they made some money off me today. Lol. The store is very well organized with prices and heat levels on the signs. The lady at the counter was casual with no pressure or hovering. Welcome to Pucker Butt, the mecca of peppers engineering weapons of gastro destruction! The first time I came here, I wasn't aware of their reputation, their penchant for holding the Guinness World Record for the World's Hottest Chili which is over 1.64 million Scoville Heat Units. It is infamously called the Carolina Reaper. I consider myself to be very tolerant of spicy foods and am able to withstand the pain and agony of many peppers and the Carolina Reaper will not touch my beautiful lips. Moving on, the staff here is very helpful, friendly and informative. They want you to have fun, be educated, leave happy and return to expand their wide variety of taste bud destroying monstrosities. I now have five bottles of assorted sauce flavors, plus bags of Reaper seeds and pods. The Reaper seeds are already planted and I've made quite a dent in three of the bottles. It's all fantastic! If you are looking for pepper heat, you will find it here. The store features hot sauces, and condiments that will knock your socks off. Even the store clerk will warn you about the the products that are especially extremely hot for some people to eat. I sampled the sweet hot nuts and immediately had to drink some water. These hot sauces and peppers are astronomically spicier than the well known ghost pepper chilies. When you step foot in this store, you are in the presence of greatness - I mean GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS greatness. Another great thing about this store is the pride they have for selling what they know best, how to locally grown chili peppers that will have your butt PUCKERING. Like spicy things but aren't looking to spend copious amounts of time on the toilet? Their collection is extensive. Using a 5 point scale, there are different variations of sauces and jams that range from mild to dangerously spicy. The one I chose to purchase at around $8 a bottle was a honey reaper hot sauce that made my tongue tingle and my mouth water. They also have a bacon, ham infused temperate hot sauce that was really tasty. The only thing I would recommend to this store/brand is to have some tangible things to munch on that would better allow the customer to sample a few of your items. While there are tiny spoons, I'm talking crackers, pretzels to be able to serve as a vehicle for these intense flavors. After about the fourth hot sauce, my mouth was almost numb and it was hard to taste anything else! read more

You are in world record territory here. Awarded the hottest hot sauce in the world by the Guiness Book of World Records for Carolina Reaper. They are hard at work developing one even hotter. This is one of the most comprehensive collections of hot sauces, most all of them proprietary to Pucker Butt. There are also some commercial brands available. What is their best customer aids is a selection of hot sauces to sample. Most important to one shopping for an ideal-for-them sauce. Pucker Butt uses a 5 point scale, with 5 the hottest. I find that the number 2s are just hot enough for me to not cause pain, but will add a nice flavor to my foods. The 3s are pretty darn hot, for me. The descriptions of the heat levels are: 1 - Mild 2 - Hot 3 - Medium 4 - Smokin' Hot 5 - Stupit (sic) Hot Prices are not too bad. Sale items can be $6 and $8. The more exotic sauces are into the $20s. They also sell packets of pepper seeds, so you can grow your own. Quite a variety, sold in packets of 10 and ranked on their 5 point scale. There are also salsas, chutneys and spices. Impressive. I have pepper-head friends, so buy the ultra hot stuff to mail them as gifts. If you have out-of-town visitors, bring them by. Nirvana for hot sauce aficionados. It's not a huge storefront but has more than enough selection, ranging from your expected small batch hot sauces to pepper-infused salsas, popcorns, and chocolates. You can also buy seeds to make your own carolina reapers. They have a plentiful array of sauces to try and if you see one you want that's not already on display, they have been more than happy to open a bottle to let me have a taste. They will at times have specialty items to try as well, like the Last Dab made famous by the youtube show Hot Ones (and made by the store) and the chocolate reaper bar. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. My parents live 15 minutes from the store so I usually stop by when I'm visiting them. One time they gave me a 10% "adorable mom" discount. Prices are reasonable for what you get. I have found several items more expensive online elsewhere than at this store. I did have one gripe pricewise where I bought a giftpack and the next day went to their website to check how much the sauces would've been if I bought them individually and ended up paying $6 MORE by buying the pack. They are so nice I'm sure they would've done something to make up for it but I wasn't going to make a stink over $6. But you may want to ask how much individual sauces are before buying a gift pack as to not run into the same predicament. They also make my favorite hot sauce currently: the Reaper Racha. Horrible service. They charged me $14 shipping for a few bottles of hot sauce. $14 with USPS gets you Priority, they use Parcel select, Postal Service's economical ground delivery service, which is slow and unreliable, worse then First Class Mail. Basically ripping you off for shipping cost. It's been over a week since I placed the order still nothing, they should've used Priority Mail which I paid for. Suffering over here with some basic Tabasco. This is unacceptable. Sonoran Spice sells Reaper powder and actually ships Priority. read more

Fun hot pepper sauce store in Fort Mill, SC. If you like very hot pepper sauce mixed in creative ways, this is the spot for you. Featured in "The Champions" series on Netflix, they created the Carolina Reaper and other hot sauces that now make the Reaper seem cool as a banana pepper. They also have chocolate and jelly infused with fire starting material if that is your thing. Worth a visit just for fun. We came away with a three pack of fiery sauce that we can't wait to try and a chocolate bar. Suggestion for the owner- why not sell men's underwear with "pucker butt" across the back. Wow, where do I start with this place!? From customer service to location to the hot sauce, this place is 5 stars all around. First, they truly are the home of the Carolina Reaper. They have two sides of their store. One side is the companies that use their peppers and the other is their own hot sauces with their peppers. I stuck to trying all of their famous hot sauces. The woman who helped us was phenomenal. It is not the kind of place where you feel judged trying everything. They encourage you to grab a spoon and try their samples. She had us start from mild to the hottest reaper sauce. We liked her recommendations. All the sauces were unique and the flavors were fantastic. It was not just hot sauce that burned your mouth and you couldn't enjoy the flavors, they were flavorful. We got 4 hot sauces, a spread and the mustard. I am looking forward to enjoying this hot sauce on anything and everything I can pair them with. The store was clean, had great samples, was well priced and staff was friendly. I found this shop due to their online presence. They have an updated Facebook and website which is excellent for people that aren't necessarily close by. I wanted to do my research before making the trip out to fort mill. I came in search of a solid hot sauce for an uncle of mine and I definitely came to the right place. The folks that work here are super nice and more than willing to listen to you and help you out while you search for what you need. The store isn't too big but you can get lost in the sauce here if you don't know what you are looking for. They have lots of their own products including Carolina reaper seeds so you can grow your own. They also feature different sauces from other friends even some from New Zealand! Don't miss the tasting bar. I didn't and it set my day on fire. You can see if you can handle the sauce before you even buy it. What a great place! 0% germination from all seeds I bought from them. Had I not read the other one star reviews I would have thought I was crazy. Almost 20 years gardening experience so I know what I'm doing. All my other seeds from other companies germinated just fine. Do yourself a favor and order your seeds somewhere else. I just threw all of their seed packets I bought in the trash. Ordered three different varieties of pepper seeds. The Carolina Reapers did okay, very poor germination on the another and the last one was completely mislabeled seeds. I sent photos of the incorrect plant and fruit and requested a correct ID. Didn't even request shipping me the correct seeds, just wanted to know what I was growing and can not even get a reply. Very, very poor customer service and poor quality on the seeds. I definitely would not recommend. All the peppers you want. More of a hot sauce company. The Carolina reaper is a novelty pepper. Can't really cook with it in my opinion.

I ordered six or seven different types of seeds from them. The seeds and plants are of very low quality. The Peruvian Habaneros had a 0% germination rate. Most of the other varieties had very low to no yield and most of the peppers from here never set fruit. The Carolina Reapers grew large plants but there were only 3-4 peppers on eight plants. The burgundy 7-pots never produced a single pepper. It was fortunate that I planted other peppers that I obtained from our local nursery - which all did very well - or I wouldn't have had a pepper crop. Unfortunately, buying these seeds was a waste of time and money and I am unable to recommend them. read more
