What a great surprise when visiting this little town in Alabama! I thought twice about coming in based on the Yelp rating, but it was right next to my hotel and I was tired so I figured why not? Boy I'm glad I did! Let's start with the service. I sat at the bar with Emma who is a real sweetheart and super attentive! I love BBQ so I got the "Whole Farm" combo so I could try everything. The baby back ribs (usually bbq joints have St Louis spares) were surprisingly good. Dry ribs (no sauce) can be dry and chewy, but these were perfect. The fatty side of the brisket was delicious, but the flat (lean) was dry - so ask for the fatty! The pulled pork was moist, and the sausage had a nice snap. But the biggest surprise was the chicken. I think this might be the best smoked chicken I've been served in a restaurant! Bottom line - ignore the eating and just come in here and eat! And ask for Emma! read more

Nice place! Live music was good. My salmon was really tasty and their fruit tea was really good. The sweet potato fries were delicious and our family had a good time. Service was timely and friendly. I tried my dad's brisket and it was delicious, and us Texans are pretty snooty about our barbecue LOL. I'd go back! It's a little pricey but not bad. Prior to coming here, a lot of reviews mentioned dry meat but I ordered the fried catfish so I can't exactly comment on that and a lot of others I was with ordered the mac n cheese entree (forgot the name). Service was reasonable as we were a big group. Overall, a good spot for its location. Worth a try if you're staying nearby or passing through. read more

I've tried so hard to like this place...but y'all, we have been disappointed SO many times. The bbq has been bone dry, the sides were served in skillets (but were cold and the red beans and rice were so salty I couldn't eat them). My dinner was supposed to come with some corn cakes. They were "forgotten," and when I mentioned it, the waitress came back about 10 minutes later with some old rubbery ones that had obviously been popped in the microwave. The ONLY decent part about dinner was dessert. I had the peanut butter banana pudding, and while it was QUITE sweet, it was also quite tasty. After giving it a shot twice, we're good. read more

Not impressed this morning. Ordered the ham and eggs with sourdough toast, coffee, and an orange juice. Coffee is worse than gas station coffee. Greasy it buttery runoff on and under the eggs. Both the ham steak and toast were super thin. Ham steak was overcooked which combined with the thin-ness made it worse. Sourdough toast was coated on one side with what tasted like cheese...tasted like I was eating Texas Toast and not fresh sourdough toast. Are these Pucketts individually owned? It seems I've had better at other Pucketts. Good news is my meal was half off during their morning happy hour deal. read more

We have always been regulars. Almost every Friday night and many times for breakfast on the weekends. (The brisket and the French toast are fantastic!) however, on a visit last Saturday morning the service was good but my over medium eggs were hard as a rock. My husband ordered the grilled potatoes and they come out fried. Even after speaking with the manager on duty and sending my eggs back we did not get a satisfactory resolution. The manager offered to take my dish and my husbands potatoes off the ticket - we told her it was not necessary to take his potatoes off since he was eating them anyway (we did not have time to have it remade - it had already taken 30 minutes to get what we had and parts of it were cold). I did not eat my dish yet I paid for it. I have waited several days before writing this waiting on a call back since I had left my number asking for a call about the visit. That call never came. Needing a break from fast food led our family to Puckett's tonight to stretch our legs & enjoy real silverware. Located right off highway 65, this cute Southern burger joint had a great country feel for a BBQ place. The restaurant is one big open room with lots of dark wood, windows & lighting. Our server was nice & had our drink orders to the table fairly quickly. This was followed by our burger & fries, plus pulled pork with white cheddar mac & cheese. Everything was good & cooked well. This would definitely be a place we'd stop again during our travels. read more

They were not busy. Only one other table in use. Many tables were not clean so it must have been busier earlier. It took ten minutes to get someone to take our drink order. Two other waitresses did this since the girl assigned to us was AWOL. They took our orders too. When the food came out was the first time we saw our server. The food was good. I liked the regular bbq sauce and the brisket was my favorite. I would go there again but I would hope for better service next time. read more

This hands down the worst BBQ I've had in Alabama. We were in town for RTS and saw a billboard saying this place was top 10 in the US for BBQ, that's a lie. The staff was amazing. Was in town for work and after driving all day and didn't want to drive anywhere else so decided to walk across the road from my hotel and give the new Barbecue place a try. When it comes to service, I have to say it was good. I was greeted pretty much as soon as I walked in the door but saying that it was a Monday evening and they we're not busy. Being on my own I decided to sit at the bar. The server did a good job taking care of me, making me feel welcome and getting me a beer and menu within seconds of sitting down. So, onto the food. I went with the Piggy Mac with is pulled pork with Mac n Cheese on top, served in a small skillet with a couple of little griddle cakes. The portion size was good but the pulled pork was just average and the Mac n Cheese was nothing special. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad by any means, but for a place that's supposed to be known for great barbecue it just didn't wow me. When you combine the lack of wow with the price for one Entree and two bottles of Miller Lite at $28, I think I will head next door to the steakhouse next time I am in town. read more

I have only ever been to the Puckett's in Franklin, so I was excited to try the location in Cullman, it being only 1 hour from my home in Huntsville. We visited for my mother's birthday, and it was her 1st time trying the food. We were so eager to get the famous Fried Green Tomatoes- sold out due to prepping since it was very cold out. (2:45PM). 1st disappointment. Green bean appetizer was very bland. Anyways it was 5 of us so we all ordered what we wanted. Takes forever for our food to come and when it finally comes out my sides are cold and all around unsatisfying, my chicken had no flavor. My mom and my husband both had the meatloaf. Both had burnt meatloaf and cold/dry sides like it had been setting. Our server had no customer service, she never once introduced herself, we had to ask for refills and any other thing we needed. She didn't even ask us how our meal was. For a ticket of 162$ I expected way much more! I really should have asked for the manager but was just ready to leave. Needless to say, I promised my mother the green tomatoes so it looks like we will be making the 2-hour trip to Franklin. read more

I have eaten at most of the locations in TN and have always enjoyed the food and service. The Cullman location was good as well. You can't go wrong with the Smoke Bologna Sandwich! I must be honest and say the Skillet Mac and Cheese was just ok. Had no wow factor with flavor and the pasta was undercooked. The fried pickles were excellent. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food i had the bbq chicken and I have never had dark chicken so dry I tried to drown it in bbq sauce but it didn't help, and the mac and cheese was so grainy it should not have been served, the mashed potatoes weren't very good and it had very little gravy on it, we just wanted to get out so I could get back to our trailer to make a sandwich to eat something decent. On our way back from North Alabama, was planning on stopping in Cullman for gas and a break. Decided to try the new Pucketts's Restaurant. We have been to the original in Nashville and the Chattanooga location in the past. So we jumped on Google to reserve a table just in case. We arrived about 20 minutes ahead of our table time, but they weren't too busy so we were seated immediately. Restaurant was clean with a neat decor. Waitress was prompt in getting our drinks and answering menu questions. Food came quickly and was nice and hot, just like a made to order should be. Portions were large and generous. My wife got the baby back ribs with backed beans and potato salad. Ribs were not "baby back" in the traditional sense but she said they were excellent with a nice Smokey flavor. Only comment was they could have been a little more tender. But they needed no sauce to give you that BBQ taste. Baked beans were juicy and meaty. Potato salad looked like a combo or mayo and mustard, which made for a great combination! I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Two large deep fried chicken breast were steaming hot and crispy. Covered in white gravy, which was just a tad salty. Coarse mashed potatoes covered in brown gravy were amazing. Reminded me of something I would make in my own kitchen. Green beans were typical restaurant green beans, needed a little salt for my taste. Not bad but not excellent. The cornbread pancake was a winner for sure! We asked for seconds on them and the waitress politely brought us a second portion. Crisp on the outside, good white cornmeal on the inside. Covered in butter I could have eaten a plate full! I had heard this location was struggling with service right after opening. But I did not have that experience! The wait for us on a Sunday was no less than 25 minutes as they stated. Their sitting room was a little chilly so be prepared if it's cold! The blackberry citrus tea wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be, however it wasn't bad at all! I guess my cup wasn't fresh maybe. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the spicy level was probably about a 4 as my side dish I got sweet potato fries and they were epic. The sweet potato fries melted in your mouth but were also crispy truly a 10 out 10 would recommend getting them as your side!! I tried the gumbo which was probably a 5 out of 10, the flavor wasn't all the way there and they were kinda watery. I also tried the shrimp and grits and they weren't terrible but I do not recommend getting this dish. The grits weren't creamy or buttery and there was no cheese that we tasted. The seasoning was bland and the shrimp was over cooked. My sister got the burger and ate the whole thing which for her is a huge hit!! When we sat down, we immediately checked the menu so we could go ahead and order when the waitress came. We ordered our drinks and food and the same time. We waited about twenty minutes and then had a different waitress come up and say that she was going to be our new waitress and asked to confirm our order. After our drinks we waited forever for our food with no updates on our food. Multiple tables who were Sat and ordered after us got their food before us. When we finally got our food after over an hour of waiting in total, our food was given to us cold. They wanted us to wait longer for the food to be reheated but we were ready to go at that point. Worst restaurant experience in my entire life. Our server clearly needed help with splitting checks, the POS systems, alcohol, etc. not her fault she didn't receive enough training.(I would blame management). Bless her heart, she was so sweet. Brought out 6 checks and all of them were incorrect. We wrote down for them what items belong on each check yet they could not get it right. Manager knew we had a problem and decided to stare at us instead of assisting in fixing the problem. Charged a member of our party $50 when her bill should have been closer to $20. The food that we ordered was not cooked appropriately, so maybe it was the usual cook's day off? *Pimiento cheese bite appetizers had cold spots inside and lightly browned where it should be melted cheesy goodness. *Country steak with onions, mushrooms, and brown gravy--the onions and mushrooms needed to be grilled until soft. Steak had good flavor. *Nashville hot chicken sandwich: batter too salty otherwise great flavor. It is served on Texas toast that dwarfs the chicken. *Fried okra: undercooked. Either too thick slices or time in fryer too short. Still in search of the corn meal/flour batter I love, but at least they batter in house per the server. Different choices and different staffing could significantly change your impression. For us we aren't local so we will stop elsewhere on our I-65 travels. Service was okay and server dependent. (+) Good attitude and had the appetizer charge reversed without us even asking. (-) Long periods between visits at a time when the restaurant was maybe half full. (-) input: overheard another waitress mention the top ranked BBQ which would have swayed our menu choices and this could have been a different review. Great staff good food! Went to Puckets on an overnight stay. Everything we had was great!

New place in Cullman- right off the interstate. We came in for breakfast on a Tuesday mid morning. It was not very crowded but we were welcomed warmly and seated at a table in short order. Good menu with some classic breakfast options. I had the brisket hash- wow! Best hash I have ever had. The brisket was cooked perfectly with potatoes and peppers/onions. The home spicy bbq sauce on this was fantastic. I ate every bite. We also had biscuits - delicious- and a yogurt parfait. It was fresh and great tasting. We had good service and had an enjoyable time at this restaurant that just recently opened. It has a cool Vibe and modern country music playing in the background. Manager stopped by to make sure everything was good and we let him know that it was. Give this place a try! I haven't tried the Nashville location yet but this location is finding its way and is a great addition to Cullman's food scene. Food was delicious! read more

Avoid the chicken!! I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was super dry. My father got the Cobb salad that came with chicken on top and it was 90% breading 10% chicken. I will say my mother got brisket and enjoyed it. But once again AVOID THE CHICKEN. read more
