    AYCE Catfish
    Monica R.

This place was phenomenal!!! Had the AYCE Catfish and let me tell you hands down the best from texture to flavor. 10/10 The owner came out to talk to us because we raved to server about our food. Talking to him I could feel the passion he has for his business. Now days this is few and far between. From service to atmosphere to food it was exceptional.

Traveling along I-74 toward Indianapolis looking for a spot to stop for supper, I came across Shelbyville. Pudders was at the top of the list when I played Yelp Roulette. I really liked the choices of pub food they had. Pudders is located downtown in an old building that had been remodeled. I was really torn between 3 items on the menu, 2 of which were burgers. But I asked the waitress if I only ate here once in my life, what do I need to eat. She said the pulled pork nachos so I went with it. These Nachos were impressive! The pulled pork was nice and tender. The queso was creamy and white. Jalepenos and tomatoes added some deliciousness to my nachos. However, I didn't care for the BBQ sauce on it. It tasted very similar to the BBQ sauce I hated in my last review. If I m back in Shelbyville though again, I will stop at Pudders again. Too much good stuff on the menu to try.

I stopped here to have a cocktail and get carryout. I found parking on the side street just off the circle. I went in and sat at the bar. I ordered a Bloody Mary and placed my to-go order. The bartender was nice and my drink was good. As I looked around and was taking photos I became a bit uneasy about eating there. In my photos you will see cobwebs in the lighting and the really dirty mirror behind the bar. This was about 5:30 so not after a long day and night. My order was a 7" Philly Cheese Steak pizza, pulled pork nachos, and hot wings. My order was correct when I received it. The wings were ok, the pizza was not the greatest flavor wise but the nachos were a complete bust. They were a soggy mess, maybe because oddly there is slaw on top? I would not recommend getting these to-go. Not sure I would go here again. Maybe they will clean up their act, literally.

I'm new to this town. I just moved here and started my career. This was the first restaurant I visited and it made me feel like I was at home. The waitress was very nice and speedy. The atmosphere was relaxed and country. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was really good. It was almost too hot to eat. I saved half for leftover and it was just as good then. It was slightly spicy, had plenty of sauce, and had a good crunch to it. The Macaroni and Cheese was cool not because it was in cast iron but because it was made with queso cheese. It was Al dente and had queso cheese poured on top. Definitely would get again.

Had a party of 10 for a family birthday dinner, we were able to make a reservation and the table was ready when we arrived. The high tops are irregularly shaped so it was a little tight. Everyone enjoyed their food, but it took a while to get it and everyone was done by the time mine arrived. Our server kept trying to explain the intricacies of the food service industry instead of just taking our orders, bringing our food & keeping our drinks full.

This is the fun, sporty, bar side.

The wagyu sliders are delicious and the girls are nice as the owner! Breaded Tenderloin

I booked the Pub at Pudder's for a reunion type party. Bryan, the owner, made sure everything was perfect. He even made sure my specific pie requests were 100% correct. Bryan was present the entire event insuring the service was superb. The staff were nice and attentive the whole 4 hours. I highly recommend Pudder's for an event or just a drink. It's a great place to have in Shelbyville.

I was in Shelbyville checking out a couple of cars. My friend and I decided to grab a sandwich. As she knew of my fondness for Culver's, she immediately suggested this location. Culver's is a national chain with local ownership. There are certain things you can always depend on - interior and exterior design is generally consistent, Butterburgers, friendly employees (the entire recruiting vibe emphasizes family and a supportive environment), and a menu that is generally consistent from location to location. This location did seem to have a larger than usual parking lot. Culver's tends to do well with accessibility features, and they do offer outdoor tables (you order at the counter inside or the drive-thru). I'd always had a fondness for Culver's as my mother used to sell them their food in Central Indiana. However, during my cancer journey I found that butterburgers became a food worked on my stomach even during chemo. I have no idea why, but it was consistently true. I'm not particularly fond of the fries. Sometimes, I get a combo with cole slaw. Sometimes, I'll splurge on onion rings. I frequently just get a double butterburger with my unsweetened iced tea. This visit was quite positive. The employees were friendly, efficient, and quite professional. The food was tasty. The iced tea actually had ice in it (the Culver's by my house has a tendency to hand me an iced tea that has no ice - I have no idea why.). This was a quick visit. I would easily return. I always think Shelbyville is way far away. While I wouldn't say it's close to my Lawrence home, it's actually a pretty easy drive and a cool little city to visit.

Don't get me wrong there was plenty of parking but you could tell they are still dealing with the snow. I walked in and was immediately taken care of. I placed my order got a number and sat down. My food was out before I even had time to check my email and texts. My burger and curds came out hot and my milkshake was super thick. I always eat my curds first as eating them cold is not my favorite. So I enjoyed them, then I tried my shake, still too thick to drink. Burger, deluxe butter burger. It was very good. Starting to cool down a little. Shake still thick. Burger was perfectly yummy. Finished it at the table. Wiped my mouth. Shake still thick so I took it with me. I finally got to enjoy the shake without trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose, about 20 minutes into my drive home. As always still my favorite fast food place.

It is a simple, hometown Midwestern style spot that reminds me of the places I used to go with my parents in the 60s and 70s. The diminutive, squared-off standalone facade centered in a small parking lot exudes that homey vibe. And the interior is exactly what you'd expect based on the exterior. The simple but well-kept tables and booths are typical of Mid-American diners. It was our daughter's birthday and comfort food was what she wanted. There were five of us (four adults and one child) so we called ahead. They were gracious enough under the circumstances to set aside a larger 6-person corner table for us to allow us to be seated right away despite it being a relatively busy Friday evening at 6 PM. Our server, Wendi, did a great job taking care of us. She was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The menu was chicken-centric as the restaurant name clearly implies. One intriguing side item that seemed to be a signature for them were the fried biscuits. They were essentially fried pieces of dough sprinkled with powdered sugar with apple butter spread that we used as a dip. They were memorable and made nice starters. All of our mains were, of course, chicken dinners. Dark and white meat ensembles were both available. There was a nice variety of sides and our party opted for various combos that included onion rings, green beans, cottage cheese, baked potato and mashed potatoes. And of course, American-style dinner rolls accompanied each meal. It was all very tasty. I'll also note that their coffee was reasonably good. My wife, our 4-yr-old granddaughter and I were able to split one three-piece dinner making this a fabulous value. The total bill with food, drinks, tax and tip was $85. At just over $21 per adult, it was a good value by today's standards. I'll gladly give this place five stars. They're unpretentious, deliver exactly what you're led to expect, and they pull it off very well. We'll go back if we have the chance.
