The pizza was good. Service was pretty quick. At first I was worried due the pizzas being little smaller that it wouldn't be enough. However they offered a meal deal and honestly both pizzas was plenty. Overall feel of the place was welcoming. I loved the idea of people singing the wall. We didn't dine in we took home to watch fireworks. However I feel it would been a positive experience due to how attentive the staff was. I used to frequent this place on trips to Bloomington. I no longer get that way particularly often, so I was thrilled to hear that Columbus now has a location. And this Columbus location retains everything I love about the Bloomington one. And parking is easier than in Bloomington. I love this place, particularly the breadsticks. No idea how many square feet or how much seating, but it looked like it could accommodate at a bar, in an inner ring main floor, around the perimeter seating, and at least one private room. There was a gluten-free crust option for Therese H., and I enjoyed mine with a traditional crust. Multiple TVs for shifting from one sporting contest to another. Needed a gift card from this highly praised restaurant so decided to do our own taste test while we were there. The restaurant was nicely decorated in wooden trim and everyone had to leave their mark on the wood. They even offered a sharpie so it showed up. Service was so friendly and welcoming. We got great advice on what pizza to order and what size. Both were spot on. The crust was amazing and the Monte Christo was the perfect flavor for us. We also wanted leftovers-who doesn't with pizza? The Thai wings were cooked just right and we also had enough for leftovers in the air fryer at home. What a great meal. I've never been to the original Mother Bear's location in Bloomington, but we've now visited this one about four times--and it's been great every time. The laid-back atmosphere and friendly service always make for a chill dining experience. They've got some solid beer specials, especially on pitchers, but the real standout is the pizza. If you're into pan-style, their crust is hands-down the best around. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get, and you definitely won't leave hungry. Bonus: after loading up on carbs, you can join the mall walkers and work off a few slices. read more

I will never order takeout during a sporting event again. I understand being busy, but I waited for our pizza, pesto sticks and salad for 50 mins after it was due. I asked when the line cleared out (45 mins) and was told they were waiting on my app. At 50 mins I said I don't need the app, can I just get the pizza. Then they worked on the app and wrapped up my order. No apology or anything. We live 30 mins away and I missed most of the first half of the game. We love the campus location of Mother Bears. We were visiting another store and saw they opened a Columbus location. The service was great. We were able to sit in the bar on a busy day. During lunchtime. It doesn't have the same feel as the campus location, but the food is just as good. We went with two lunch pizzas and an order of breadsticks. It's open! We came on a Sunday at lunch time. It was very busy but we sat right down at the bar. We split the Mother Bear Special (10" pizza, salads or breadsticks and sodas for $21) and an order of wings. The wings were fresh, crispy, saucy, and meaty. The pizza (regular pan pepperoni) was perfectly cooked with delicious bits of burned cheese on the sides. I saw pasta and grinders coming out of the kitchen that looked delicious so those are next on our list. Service was fast and friendly. They had a ton of people in the kitchen and serving staff - all were working very hard! Seems like a great run place. Parking was a bit difficult but I'm glad Nexus Park is growing. read more

Great service! Food comes out fast. I was in a pizza and cold beer mood. This hit the spot. You probably won't find this topping a "best pizza" list but it's not bad by all means! They have some interesting specialty pizzas. The Tuscaloosa touchdown was one of the better pork barbecue pizzas I've had. Deep dish pizza was good as well and the Chicago style sausage was surprisingly great. Both crusts were cooked well. Doughy, not under cooked though. Deep dish had a good crunch but wasn't burnt. I will certainly be back to try more of the specialty pizzas. Nowadays I feel like great service and a menu that leaves you interested in trying more are rare. read more

I had Mother Bear's Pizza a long time ago in Bloomington, Indiana and thought it was meh, but I decided to give the one in Columbus a shot because it had been years and I wanted to try again. The restaurant is nice, but everything else is just okay, except for the Sprecher root beer which was great. The bread sticks were just bread sticks, not really any flavor besides bread. Their "spicy" cheese sauce wasn't spicy sadly. We got a traditional (at the recommendation of our waitress) cheese pizza. The pizza isn't bad, it's just kind of an average pizza. Portnoy said it best. It's basically a fancy Dominos. I did like it more than he did though. I'd give it a 7.1/10. read more

Had to go to the bathroom as soon as we got our table. Came back, my son said the waitress was rude to him. Didn't even offer a drink just dropped menus and left. She FINALLY came back. Took our order. Spilled my drink all over me.. didn't bother to clean it up. Just gave me napkins... ordered a beer. Took 15 minutes just for the beer. It was warm when it made it to me. Waitress didn't offer up anything at this point.. I was charged for the warm ass beer and the drink that was spilled on me, that mind you she didn't even refill. Entrees came with salad, they came out together.... Food was bland and flavorless.. I swear the meatballs came from the freezer section and Walmart. Bill was $55 for the worst service and food I have ever had.. and my son was need up getting sick right after we left... terrible.. Will never recommend and will never be back. read more

However, we were able to try the pizza and the breadsticks from the Columbus location. We ordered take out. Service was good. The order was ready when promised. We ordered both the pan pizza and the deep dish, plus an order of breadsticks. The breadsticks lacked flavor and were very doughy in the middle. Definitely not even in the top five in Columbus. The crust on both types of pizza were less than ideal. Again, some were very doughy, neither fluffy nor crispy as would be expected with pizza. The Mother Bear's sauce is sweet and lacks any kind of herby flavors. The volume of toppings were lacking on the three pizzas which had toppings other than cheese. The fourth pizza was a cheese-only deep dish. The combination of cheeses was bland. I'm hoping that we just caught them on a bad night. We may give them another chance in the future, but there are several better pizzas in the Columbus area. read more
