Food is always good! Staff always friendly. We especially like the carne asada burritos, tacos and the carne asada enchiladas with mole, chile rellenos, torta milanesa. Tried the parrillada for carry out this time. More than enough food for 4!

Pueblo Viejo is a favorite amongst the locals in the Mount Prospect area. We had heard that they had great Mexican fare, so we decided to stop by for an earlier lunch. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering breakfast items, tacos, tortas, burritos, tostadas, and Mexican entrees; they also have char-grilled burgers, hot dogs, gyros, wings, and even a pizza puff for those who do not want to partake in Latin items. We ordered 2 Chimichanga dinners, which came with a side of rice and refried beans: +one filled with asada (skirt steak) +and, one filled with al pastor The burritos/chimichangas come filled with bean, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce; with the asada, I opted out of the tomatoes and lettuce, whereas the al pastor included everything. Both chimichangas come topped with melted cheese and a suizo/ranchero sauce - the asada was requested to come with the melted cheese on top and the al pastor without; both were requested to have the suizo/ranchero sauce to come as a side. While the chimichanga was deep-fried well and was crispy, the asada was extremely bland. I was also surprised at the 'melted cheese' on top - they were literally slices of white cheese, haphazardly melted; it would have been so much better if it was the shredded cheese or even queso. The ranchero sauce was runny and watery, and didn't do much to add onto the chimichanga for flavor. The al pastor was enjoyed much more, as it was stated to be more flavorful; I'm thinking that seeing the al pastor on the spit, this is the more popular protein of choice. We did inquire if they sold the meat by the pound, which they did ($13.99/lb). A 'dinner' isn't necessary, as the rice and the refried beans were forgettable; the rice was flavorless, and the refried beans were goopy and unseasoned. Three type of hot sauces in bottles were provided, which you can use to your heart's content; we preferred the creamy habanero version, as it provided a nice kick to the meal. You can dine-in and take a seat anywhere and menus will eventually come; there were plenty of carry-out orders as well. A basket of chips and thin, runny salsa were provided as complimentary. Service was fine, but somewhat inattentive and on the slower end; we requested an extra plate, but silverware didn't come with. The place encompasses two 'units', so there are a good number of tables in there. The place could be more cool and well-ventilated; when we dined in, it was muggy and extremely warm inside. I'm glad I was able to try this place out, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to return - it was a bit overhyped, based on the other rave reviews. Parking available in the small plaza lot. +has chimichangas on the menu +weird 'melted cheese' situation +slow service +warm inside! +parking available in small lot

Ordered a taco salad with steak for pick up and was pleased to see how huge it was! The tortilla shell held everything in and tasted light and flaky. The steak inside was a bit dry but overall this was a solid taco salad bowl that satisfied my craving.

They have taco Tuesday for $2.00 but you must pay Cash. If you pay with a card it regular price. They have a lot of things on the menu. I got a couple tacos to try and a torta. The torta was good but could be better if it had less big onion, they should normally add aguacate and jalapeño it would be way better. The meat was good just that I got a piece with a lot of fat and I don't like that. The cecina taco was very good and tender and juicy. The steak was okay rather have cecina for the same price. The chorizo is not to good, it has a weird taste. The Al pastor was really good just needs pineapple. The hot sauce where amazing except for the green sauce, the other three are five stars. Service was good just that the tv was super loud. Very good food recommend if in the area

Small and quaint with good food. The service was perfect. The margaritas leave a lot to be desired but the food and service are worth returning for.

We decided to sit outside on the patio, which honestly wasn't much different from other restaurant patios. Our server, Trayana, was exceptionally kind, cheerful, and truly wonderful -- nothing but compliments for her service. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the food and drinks. The cocktail Paloma was marked on the menu as "the most popular," which is why I ordered it, but I simply didn't enjoy it. The same goes for the food. I ordered the Salsa Verde enchiladas, and I can't really say they were good either. They tasted somewhat sour to me. One great touch, though, was the complimentary chips with three different dips served as an appetizer. While we're not huge fans of that kind of snack, many people are, so it's definitely a nice addition while waiting for the main course.

I have lived in Mount Prospect for over 25 years, but still didn't know where to cop delicious tamales so I turned to my fellow Yelpies for help. The number one recommended place wasn't open on Mondays so I headed to the Tamaleria Y Antojitos Chepis. Even with the technology of Google Maps, it was a little difficult to find in the strip mall, but I appreciate it's location relative to my house/the gym (which is where I was prior to this sidequest!). As soon as I stepped into the small establishment, which had postage signage that eating in the shop was unavailable at this time, I was warmly greeted. I had a slight panic because I didn't see tamales on the digital menu, but I shared with the gentleman behind the counter what I was looking for and he immediately checked the stock and told me he had only pork left, but in 4 different sauces. I ended up getting 6 in green sauce and 6 in red sauce. The flavors were really good! I like spicy so they were very enjoyable for me. The ratio of masa to filling was good. They retained their shape better as the days went on of me eating leftovers versus when I ate two boiling lava hot out of the bag. The tamales were wrapped in banana leaves instead of the cornhusks which tickled my half Asian brain. I enjoyed each tamale I purchased!

I'm waiting for my food and look in the back and this sweet lady is rolling masa into balls and pressing them into actual tortillas and putting them on the griddle!!! That doesn't happen anymore... There isn't much room for dining in. It's in a small strip mall. I want to go back and try a bunch more stuff. For sure I will be back 100% Thank you for a great meal and amazing tamales!!! Patrick
