This is a hidden gem of Ashland that probably doesn't get the credit it deserves. Servers were extremely attentive, portions were a lot larger than expected - I could only finish half the nachos. Restaurant really felt like one I've been to in Mexico, and they had a great variety of items. Definitely going back next time I'm in Ashland.

Yum!! I'm originally from San Diego, but I've lived in Sacramento for a couple years now and unfortunately it's been really hard to find a Mexican restaurant we really like. Often we have to choose between yummy food or yummy drinks, it's surprisingly hard to find both in one establishment. However, during our trip to Ashland we found this spot - thanks to Yelp of course - and it delivered! We're not fancy, we just really appreciate good basics like Cadillac margaritas, well flavored rice and beans, and tasty chips and salsa, etc. Five stars across-the-board for this place! I forgot to take the picture until we had demolished most of the food, but you can see how huge my husband's plate of ceviche was (he loved it) and I did some major damage to my taco salad as it was super tasty (I forgot the name, but it was the one with the fried flour shell). As others noted, it was very affordable - especially considering the portion sizes. The staff was really great and friendly too. I 100% recommend this place and wish I could take it back to Sacramento with me.

Dark and gloomy inside. Is kitxhen as dirty as the carpets? Seems inflation got the better of this menu, $18-$22 entrees. I prefer the other Mexican restaurant options in Ashland one near exit 14 and another one just off exit 19.

Favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! Food is delicious, portions are huge, and the staff is SO kind. I get their vegetarian Expresso Burrito (and a Shirley temple when dining in person - a seriously underrated beverage). Inside is casual with cozy booths and lots of TVs to watch sports. You can get a burrito at the other restaurant downtown for the same price but half the size and not as flavorful (for a veg burrito). Go here!!

I forgot to take a photo before but I was hungry and I would've licked the plate because it was soo good! LOL!

My classmates and I had class on Sunday evening and someone suggested we meet up for dinner. One of them suggested here since it's right across the street from campus. It is a little confusing because there's two signs, and she told me the La Casa Del Puerto name and I drove by it because I saw the Puerto Mazatlan name. They do have a small parking lot which is nice, and if it's crowded there's a side street. The staff is very friendly! They have a nice assortment of Mexican food to choose from including combinations. Since I'm from San Diego, which has some of the best Mexican food this side of the border, I am a little cautious but Puerto Mazatlan is legit! I ordered the carne asada burrito. Out came this large burrito with grilled beef, rice, and beans with guacamole and sour cream on the side. This was very good! Nice grilled beef, oh and it came out wet. I didn't read the description of presentation, I just saw Asada Burrito. Our server was great! Handled the 12 of us and even separated the checks which we really appreciated since it was such a big group! I'll definitely be back to explore the menu more!

Ridiculously good food, very friendly service and strong margaritas. Best carne asada I have ever had! Will come back anytime I am in Ashland.

The chips and salsa brought out were fresh and delicious. We liked the kids menu and the options that were available. We shared the molcajete and were super impressed. We were told later that most people don't finish it if they eat it alone and I believe it because the portion was so generous. The chicken and steak were thin but well cooked and seasoned. The cactus and vegetables and grilled queso were flavorful. The sauce tied everything together and the bacon wrapped shrimp was so yummy. In addition to a giant bowl of flavor, we got a plate of rice, beans, guac/sour cream/pico, and tortillas. The inside was clean and had some fun decor. The team taking care of us was attentive. The margaritas were flavorful, well priced, and tasted as fresh as the fruit in them. I plan to go back the next time we are in town to try some more of their many options.

Chef Nat Borsi's modern Mediterranean haven is a testament to substance over style, a place where "farm-to-table" isn't a marketing slogan but a palpable ethos. The Mushroom Bolognese is a masterclass in vegetarian depth, a richly savory ragout that satisfies on a primal level. The house-made pastas shine; the Lamb Bucatini offers meaty, soulful complexity, while the Seafood Pasta is a testament to the pristine ingredients of the Pacific Northwest. For the carnivore, the Roasted Chicken is a beautifully simple, perfectly executed dish that speaks to the kitchen's bedrock technique. Our table was in their patio space, which I actually like better than the indoor part of the restaurant. The patio space feels very open and has a lot of live plants in the planters that make space between tables. It was a little warm on the patio since it was 98 degrees outside, but they keep it relatively cool on this mostly enclosed patio. Our server was great. She was so friendly and fun to talk to. She helped us figure out what we wanted to order and checked in on us just the right amount. You can tell the food here is very fresh and homemade. We started with the Deviled Eggs, which are really special. I love how they serve them over a bed of crushed up potato chips as they give this dish some salty crunch. Next we had the Beet salad, which is marinated beets over a whipped cheese. The beets do have a strong vinegar flavor, but it's balanced out beautifully by the cheese. My wife ordered the Mushroom Bolognese, which was probably the best dish of the evening. This is an incredible, vegetarian dish that is so meaty without any meat. The finely diced mushroom sauce is so good along with the handmade noodles. Also, adding burrata to it gives it a perfect creaminess. I ordered the pork chop, which was also excellent and enormous. It did take me a lot longer to eat since it was a little hard to cut, the compote on top added a great sweetness, but I feel like it could've used more. Also, the polenta and grilled asparagus was awesome. Lastly, we got the Rice Pudding for dessert. It comes with a hazelnut crumble and a dolce de leche sauce. Normally, I feel like rice pudding has a kind of thin, milky consistency, but not this. It is think and has a wonderful texture. It is probably the best rice pudding I've ever had. The nuts give a satisfying crunch and the dolce de leche sauce is light and sweet. Disclaimer: we did order one dish we really didn't like. It was a special salad with endives and lentils. The server was happy to get us another dish.

Speaking, the brisket in the Banh Mi was unfortunately tough and lacked the tenderness you'd expect from a properly smoked or braised cut. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. I'd love to see a return to the quality I experienced a few years ago. All and all, despite the brisket. The service was kind and friendly.

My cider was great and my partner got a strawberry slushy- both did not disappoint. The overall theme inside is adorable! It's got a lot of wooden pieces and a camping trailer inside really ties the theme together nicely. There is plenty of tables and shade outside and lots of indoor seating as well. Bathrooms are super clean and clearly well maintained by the folded toilet paper roll. The only thing I will say is if you're going to sit outside expect outside things to happen. There was a lot of flying debris from around the creek due to someone down the way doing outdoor maintenance.
