Went back to Malibu for lunch the other week with some colleagues. They have a great $15 pre fixe lunch special. I chose the spicy cucumbers to start. These were fantastic! Next I opted for the pork belly. This was ok. Needed some flavor or something. And lastly had the beef bulgogi chimichanga. The bulgogi was great but not that much of it as mostly white rice. It was tasty though. Service great. I'd prob give it 3.5 stars. Would like to go back and try again. Great deal for lunch. read more

My girlfriends and I came here for dinner. We made reservations to be on the safe side since it's not a huge restaurant. Very cute vibes inside and outside and the outside is covered with the heated lights, which is perfect during this cold weather. I did the Patio Lemonade for cocktail which was delicious and then we got chips & guac for appetizer. For dinner, I did 2 of the pork carnitas tacos and 1 sliced steak taco with a side of rice. A friend and I recently had lunch at Malibu - first time for both of us - and we were very pleased with the food and service. We had the 3-course prix fixe lunch special and were delighted with everything we ordered. The first course was a choice between spicy cucumbers or chips & salsa (thumbs up to both). The second course was like a tapa - grilled pork belly for my friend and a shrimp salad tostada for me. Yummy! Then we both had ropa vieja for the third course - deliciously seasoned meat with rice and black beans on the side. Everything was fresh and tasty. The prix fixe was a good deal and a great way to sample various dishes. I hope to return soon and try more of the food at Malibu! read more

I've been here multiple times because the food is SO good, but on every visit, I feel like the staff is overly flirtatious. I tried to push it aside at first but after coming here more frequently I can't shake the weird vibes. What bothered me most was what happened when my ID was checked. After I handed it over, the manager appeared to spend an excessive amount of time searching for me online instead of scanning it (I've been here many times and they always scan it in the back) It felt far beyond what was necessary to verify my identity and came across as an invasion of privacy. I understand the need to check IDs, but customers should be treated with respect and have their personal information handled appropriately. Living in Fairfield, we have a handful of regular places we either go out to eat or get take out from, and Malibu is right there on top of the list. We've been eating here for years, and I am constantly impressed with quality and flavors of the food. The few times we came here to eat, whether its with 6 people or 2 people, we always had exceptional service. The restaurant is also very cool inside, and on a nice warm day, has plenty of outdoor seating. One of my favorites is the Marinated Ahi Tuna rice bowl (ponzu marinated chopped tuna, guac, scallions, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, spicy cucumbers, blueberries, miso-lime vinaigrette). But honestly, everything on the menu is good. My daughter is partial to the pork belly tacos. Highly recommend either for family meal or a night out with friends (drink menu is great too!) read more

I came here with some of my family to celebrate my nephews win at his soccer game! They had cute outdoor seating we originally sat outside but it was too hot luckily they had some space inside for 7 of us. Juan was our waiter and he was very friendly, he checked up on us frequently, he was very helpful and attentive. Inside the restaurant is so cute! I love the vibe! Now, on to the food we had ordered a variety of things on the list of things ordered to the table- ahi tuna, steak, two Nashville chicken tacos. Excellent dishes with quality ingredients you can really taste. One of our favorite places in downtown Fairfield. They have an amazing and inexpensive pre fixe lunch menu during the week we recently discovered. The cocktails are also some of the better ones you'll find downtown, great flavor and tend to be a little heavy handed (not complaining). Being from California I wasn't expecting to be impressed by this California cuisine restaurant but I was wrong. The restaurant has super cute vibes, delicious and refreshing cocktails and fresh food. The menu has a wide range of items, from crab cakes, poke and chorizo fried rice to Nashville hot chicken tacos, open faced quesadillas and salmon teriyaki. What a mix! It doesn't seem possible to come here without finding something you like and also being able to try something new each time. Their salad and rice bowls were calling my name as I was craving something on the healthier side for lunch. You have the option of going with superfood greens, brown rice or a combo of both which you know I had to do. The Greek Bowl totally hit the spot. I ordered the buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was more like a pizza, an open faced tortilla with all the toppings, not what i was expecting and honestly, i was hoping for an actual quesadilla not an american twist to one . Came here for a quick bite for dinner and had a good experience! We got a glass of red wine, and got 3 open faced quesadillas to share. We got the pulled lamb, farm house, and Malibu beach quesadillas and it was delicious! Easy to share portions and we had a few leftovers. Was in town for a family matter and wanted a quick bite. Found this eatery close by with good reviews. Walked during their happy hour timeframe and quickly got a seat. The first impression was good...quickly seated, nicely decorated, and clean. It's a decent size place with some outside tables and a huge fully stocked bar in the center of the place. This appears to be more of a local trendy watering hole for cocktails that serves food...since it's basically tacos, salad/rice bowls, quesadillas, and some other pupu-sized plates. The service was ok, there were times we track down our waitress from drinks (non-alcoholic) and it was fairly empty (1/4 full), hence the 4-star review. I am not sure if Latin - American breakfast mix works for me. Otherwise, everything else is 4 stars: For the dinner menu, the open quesadilla is so cool and tasty, almost like a pizza! The service is nice and attentive, and they are flexible with clients. There is usually plenty of space as the restaurant is quite large, and the food is well-tasting, the location is prime, the decor and inside and outdoor seating is pretty and fun. When I decided to rate this restaurant, I was surprised to see any bad reviews, and was glad they were in the minority. I have eaten here several times across several seasons and have found it to be consistently good, with attentive wait staff, and reasonable waits for tables. First-hit happy hour. Seriously. $11.50 for a tray of tacos (amazing), 1/2 priced quesadillas (also amazing, 1/2 priced drinks. The tacos and quesadillas are fantastic ranging from the nice twists (puled pork, sliced rib eye, ahi tuna) to the unexpected (can you say, "Ruben taco?" It's good. Try it). I love the Ahi Tuna bowl: ponzu marinated chopped tuna, guac, scallions, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, spicy cucumbers, blueberries, miso-lime vinaigrette. So. Very. Yummy. It's a little expensive, but it's Fairfield. Not out of the norm. I have yet to be disappointed. Check it out. read more

What a great place! We decided to go today V*DAY. The place looks fresh, fruity, and full of flavor walking in. We were seated promptly, and received our menu's full of delicious sounding choices. Man, it's hard to make a choice... We decided to go with a steak bowl, and the Big Sur, some sweet potato fries, and a spicy shrimp taco. After a short wait, we got served. The spicy shrimp taco is amazing, the flavors BAM! (Next time I do a taco combo for sure) The bowls are large, full with fresh ingredients and it will fill you up for lunch. The fries were amazingly crispy, how do they do that? Most of the time the are semi-soggy when we make them at home. We ordered a portion to go home, that good they are. I have been wanting to stop in here for quite some time. I had a day off from work and decided to stop in for lunch. As soon as you walk in you are drawn to the back of the bar; it is literally stacked with wall to wall drink bottles (I believe they are all varieties of tequila). The bar area is very impressive. We were in for a quick lunch so we ordered 4 tacos. I had the pork carnitas and the pork belly tacos while my gf ordered the duck and lamb tacos. We really enjoyed them although to be quite honest they seemed to be more like mini tacos (practically eaten in 2 1/2 bites). They were packed with plenty of flavor. One downside was the fact that we literally had to pay for chips and salsa. I would just imagine they would be a part of the dining experience. Best happy hour in town! Great cocktails and food specials from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Love their space and ambiance. Restaurant opens up in the front and there's a lot of great airflow for indoor diners. Beautifully decorated interior and exterior. We didn't try Malibu right away because many people have said the portions were tiny but we left stuffed with plenty of leftovers. read more

The server and manager (who would not give her name) were very rude when asked about this. 0/5 stars if possible.
