I think this place is great. They have a nice variety of dishes and an unbeatable lunch special on weekdays. Their prices are more than reasonable and the staff is friendly and accommodating. If it's cold out, I definitely suggest trying the homemade chicken soup. It's very light, tasty and hits the spot. Fajitas are also excellent. read more

This place had reviews saying that it was the best Mexican food in Glen Cove. Well if that's true then the next time I'm in Glen Cove I'll be eating at an Italian restaurant. This was the most bland Mexican meal I've had in a long time. It's what passed for Mexican food in the USA back in 1970s! The guacamole tasted like the stuff you buy in a bag at the grocery store, definitely not fresh made, just pureed green goo. The chips were ok but clearly not made on site, those just came out of a bag. The red salsa that came with the chips was good however and might have been freshly made. My fish tacos were ok. The tortillas were a bit stale, not homemade and not grilled either. Basically just cold and crumbly corn tortillas. The fish was fresh and cooked properly but lacked any spice so they were very bland. The rice was dry and disappointing and I didn't even dare try the refried beans at that point. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by my dining experience here! From the exterior decor, I was slightly skeptical but as soon as we got out of the car we could smell the amazing food. We were immediately greeted by a pleasant hostess and had a wonderful waiter who actually seemed to enjoy his job! If you want real Mexican food drive another 12 minutes to Westbury and go to Little Mexico! To start.. my margarita was terrible. It tasted as if it were made with a bubbly lime soda instead of margarita mix or a lemon/lime juice which you would expect when u pay 8-9$ for your drink. Then was the food... the salmon was cooked nicely and seasoned alright but this seemed to me to be a continental dish. As for the sides I was served a plain baked potato along with some steamed cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini with no seasoning at all. As for my friends vegetarian meal, the enchiladas were filled with what appeared to be steamed zucchini as well and was served with mushy unseasoned rice, and beans that were salty and tasted slightly burnt. Had a great dinner tonight. 4 of us went and 3 of us ordered the seafood combo and my wife had the taco salad. She enjoyed it very much. Our seafood combos came out all identical, picture worthy, plentiful and delicious. The rice was fantastic along with nice size shrimp, scallops, mussels & calamari. Ambience and awesome cocktails made for a perfect evening. Reasonably priced and very helpful staff. I'll be spreading the word and definitely returning. Puerto Vallarta is our go to Mexican spot.. No, it's not a 5 star white table restaurant but who wants that when you want authentic Mexican cuisine.. The food is always prepared perfectly and always cooked with fresh ingredients.. My personal go to are the Shrimp Fajitas and my wife loves their Burrito Supremes but we feel you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.. Their Margaritas are the best and seem to be a local favorite as well. The one and only downfall is the parking lot in the rear of the restaurant. Drove by a few times when visiting a family member at the Glen cove Hospital and it caught our eye so we decided to try it the night my mom was making corned beef & cabbage for my dad, aunt and uncle. Yum!!! Everything was very good. Started with drinks, my brother had a watermelon margarita which I should have also gotten and I got the sangria. It was good just very winey. My brother got enchiladas and I got a beef burrito. We also got pico de gallo and guacamole on the side. Good side dishes to add onto your meal. The salsa that came with the chips before we ordered was also very tasty. Service was good, kept our water full which I love. It's a cute place, parking is a little weird, all the way behind the building, we weren't sure we were in the right place but then figured it had to be the parking lot for the restaurant. Had a friend visting who loves Mexican food, so we came here for lunch, we hadnt seen eachother for years so we had a lot to talk about. Our server couldn't have been nicer, they didn't rush us at all. The tortilla chips and homemade salsa were really good. We both had the beef burritos they were really good too. I was craving Mexican cuisine and all the Mexican places in my town are sub-par and pricey.. I don't like that combo. We took to Yelp to find something else nearby and came across Puerto Vallarta. I had the best time here. TIPS: 1. GET A MARGARITA. It was probably one of the best I have ever had; if you like lime/citrus. I got the mango marg, but it was SO LIMEY and I LOVED EVERY SINGLE DROP. (pictured) 2. Skip the guacamole. It was too mashed up for me and just not worth it. If you do get it though, ask for lime on the side and squeeze some in; it needed it. 3. My boyfriend and I both got steak fajitas (it's skirt steak). They were delicious-- especially the peppers and onions that came out sizzling. The way the steak is cut is on the thick side, which made it difficult to put in the tortilla, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. (pictured) 4. Skip the flan. Very inconsistent service. If you wind up with the male server you never get the complimentary soup or salad during lunch, with the ladies you do. I came here with 16 coworkers and made reservations ahead of time to make sure they could accomidate our party. When we arrived they didnt even have the reservation down, probably because we were the only people in the place. Although the waiter took down our orders he messed up almost half of them. Not once did he ever come around to ask if everything was okay or if we needed refills. I like the food but the employees here have a difficult time handling volume. We passed this place for a long time. We tried it last week. What a total disappointment ! Place was pretty empty . Service was horrific , they took our order and dropped the food and not a single person came back to,ask if we need anything how was the food etc . Very over priced too. Ordered nachos unlike other Mexican places this place served 9 chips on plate smered some refried beans and some meted cheese and a few jalapeños on top and charged 13$ my wife ordered a combo which had a taco enchilada that was empty inside and a flaunta . This looked like a child's plate . If you are looking for authentic Mexican this is not your place. My wife had to get up after waiting for someone to take the credit card which never happened so she brought it up to the bar. Husband got the combo platter of chimichanga, quesadilla, and taco which was much smaller portioned and not very good. Parents got vegetable enchilada and sizzling chicken fajitas. Both seemed decent. I def would recommend the regular dishes Vs the combo platters. Although you get 3 diff things with the combo platter they are much smaller and all seemed dry. Enchiladas are the way to go! Nice hot Tortilla chips and salsa served while you wait for your food. Staff could be a bit more attentive. As we were ready to order we notified One staff member we were ready and he said he would get our server and we still were waiting and had to ask a second time to order.
