They prepare the food with their bare hands, even if they had the hand gloves, they were touching the garbage bin, touch the money in the cashier, touch the phone and back to preparing the food with their unsanitary hands. I tried the fish tacos at this location and the guac and chips. if you are in the Merrick location this is a good place to come to but I would not come out of my way for it. The food is good but not great. I'm only giving it 4 stars because if I lived in Merrick or even certain parts of East meadow I really wouldn't have other options for quick and easy tacos. I'm giving it a 5 star because the food was terrific, fresh, and they served it hot. BUT they get a zero star for service because they really did screw up my night when they took three hours to get four dishes for take out. We called at 530, they told us to pick up at 715, and after 2 phone calls and upon our second trip up there, finally at 900 the 4 dishes (burrito, burrito bowl, salad, quesadilla) were ready. I just wish they told us "no, we can't take any more orders tonight" or told us "the wait tonight is more like 3.5 hours, maybe call us tomorrow" or something. I tried to be ultra sensitive and polite about it with covid and all but they didn't even offer to comp us a bag of chips or a taco or even give us a coupon for a future try. Could it have been an honest/inexperienced l mistake in estimating time or could it have been a very greedy/inconsiderate ownership where they don't want to miss a single sale without regard for customers' time? I don't know. I'm sure they can do much better than this but tonight they didn't. Back to the food, everyone enjoyed their food -even the very picky teenagers-but then again we were all half starving when we finally got our food and sat down to eat. We were a little skeptical ordering just because we've tried some other Mexican places in the area and have been disappointed, but were looking to try something new for dinner. Well, we're glad we did because not only was the food delicious, the portions were generous as well. Definitely glad we decided to finally try here after seeing it on Yelp for so long and we will absolutely be adding it into our takeout rotation from here on out! We ordered the vegetable burrito, chicken quesadillas and the nachos. We liked that the cold toppings were put in separate containers (sour cream, salsa and guacamole) so that nothing got soggy during delivery and we were able to heat anything we wanted up because the food all comes in tin containers which was also helpful. (Our delivery person through grub hub had car trouble so our food was a little late but still awesome!) The food was alright, it was authentic Mexican. Not as bad as the Mexican food served up by chinese people who own Mexican food joints, but not as good as pinatas. What a surprising gem! Everything we had was so GOOD! everything was so fresh and steaming hot. I ordered the steak quesadilla....OMG...yeah, it's addicting. Their steak is favorful and perfectly cooked. Their burritos are huge and jammed packed with steak. Taquitos Grill is sooo good. We ordered the steak burrito bowl, fish tacos, a side of creamy guac and sangria. We decided to dine inside at one of the cute tables rather than take out. After ordering and paying at the counter, food was quickly delivered to our table by the friendly owner. She smiled and welcomed us as new customers, very nice. Food was nicely presented and steak was piled high. I'm a sangria aficionado and their white sangria was one of the best I've had, not overly sweet and packed with fruit pieces. The beef in the burrito had a great seasoned flavor. Nothing like when you go to Moes and get some wet slop meat. Chipotle is good but you have to doctor the shit out of it first with hot sauces.
