I recently ate at Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant at 1575W.200N. in Cedar City, Utah. The taquitos were delicious--fresh, crispy, and full of flavor. Our server, Imelda, was extremely friendly and probably the best part of our experience. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. What really disappointed me, though, was discovering that they charge for soda refills. I had no idea until I got the bill and saw that my soda ended up costing around $8 with the refill charges added in. On top of that, there's also a service fee for using a credit or debit card, which wasn't mentioned beforehand. While the food and service were great, the unexpected fees took away from the overall experience. Just a heads-up--ask about drink refills and card fees before you order.

Service was good. Place was clean. Ordered our food and it came out super fast. It was good and the meat was really good too. Nothing funky. Great flavors.

Attached to the Ramada hotel makes this a very convenient place to grab some food before getting some sleep. I stopped by for lunch and was recommended the steak fajitas by the wait staff. It really was just ok. Looking at the picture, you'll see ripping hot cast iron skillet has an immense amount of bell peppers, and really not much else. I would guess it had 80% bell peppers, 15% steak, and 5% onions. (I thought there were zero onions, but eventually I found 2-4 slivers in there) I'm not too upset about the ratios, but what really killed the dish for me was how uncooked the peppers were. They basically tasted like they were steamed, tossed on a hot plate, then ran out. I would really suggest letting those onions and bell peppers really build some color and then toss the sliced steak on there. Takes a little more time, but way better tasting. The beans, rice, guac, sour cream, were great, and the tortillas were really a high point. I wouldn't say no to going again in the future, but I'll order something different, maybe the carnitas?

Passing through to Colorado. Great overall experience and meal. Hostess and waiter were attentive. Chips and salsa were brought to the table within 3-5 minutes even before ordering our drinks. Food was brought out in a timely manner. We ordered the tacos de pescados and beef enchiladas. And a fabulous Paloma Margarita. Thank you!

The atmosphere is cool, service was good but my Spanish isn't great, so communication with the server was hard, didn't get one of our plates right cause of it but it's ok. The prices are expensive. I really liked the Chips, Salsa and Beans to start off with.. loved my big horchata too but I wasn't pleased with the Shrimp A La Diabla. It wasn't authentic tasting.. very tomato saucy.. usually I've had it more spicy and flavorful.. it was full of mushrooms as well, almost all the plates have mushrooms in everything. The plates were huge tho, rice and beans were good, but the kids plates were very small and low quality. The burrito we had included shrimp, crab and chicken but it was really crabby and the sauce was a lot, made it soggy. The tortillas weren't the best, would be way better if they were homemade or fresh. I just wanted to have a good experience, which again, the place and service was good but the food was way overrated and pricey. I would not go back. We were kinda disappointed as this place was raved up by some locals. We are also from southern Cali where they have the best of the best Authentic Mexican food so maybe we are being hard critics.

Best Mexican in Cedar! Those who give this place less than 5 stars must be having a bad day. Glad we decided to give it try vs going to some of the regular spots in town. Friendly service, ambiance is spot on and food was delicious!! Cherry on top was the Michelada! CNt wait to come back next time we are in town.

Great Service, friendly, amazing menu, big, spacey and clean. Loved the light music in the background. The homemade salsa reminded me of my abuelita.

I ordered the Barilla Tacos and they came served on a cookie sheet there was so much food

This place was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed! Located attached to the Ramada Inn this place is authentic and DELICIOUS!!! A must stop if you're staying in Cedar City or just passing through

Crab enchilada plate... mmm! And soo BIG.

But what I do know is, she does not know what she's doing. She seems more confused the more people keep coming in to this restaurant. The fact that they're so understaffed on a Friday night, is ri-damn-diculous. It's not like every Friday night is dead. This is Cedar city Utah every Friday night is date night and everybody in their dogs are out here trying to eat. Why aren't you staffed? They can't even fill the restaurant, because the kitchen can't handle a full restaurant. Do you wanna know the number of people that turned around and walked out when the hostess said 45 minutes to an hour wait, I mean we're talking parties of six parties of 10 nobody could get seated. Heck we were a party of two and couldn't get seated for 30 minutes. The real killer is that there are tons of large empty tables, small, empty tables and they're just sitting there empty. You need to work on your staffing. So that was getting seated. Let's talk about the food. Not worth that way. The pasta has zero flavor. Like absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Yeah I don't think this. Chili's is going to be a place. I'll stop anytime soon. I'll give them a few months to get new management put in place, then maybe I'll come back. In the mean time try another chain, any chain.

This is by far our family's most favorite Mexican restaurant for a few reasons…read more First, their kitchen is immaculate. My husband is a delivery driver in town and sees kitchens all over the city. This one is always well organized and clean, and that means a lot. Second, it is family owned. They make a lot of their own recipes by hand in house, so you're not always getting some canned garbage. Third, the staff is amazing. We have always had wonderful service with attention to detail, even by the kitchen staff. Our food comes out looking delectable and we've never had a problem. This is one of the best restaurants in the city. Don't miss it!

A good guess would be a limited lunch staff. Seated tables were well attended by waitstaff. Now, the food. The menu seemed slight compared to competition. Also there is no alcohol, beer or wine license. Sodas are big glasses @ $3.45 each. The salsa was bland...it definitely was mild. Certainly not a signature salsa. Rice again wasn't special. Unusual spice additive that wasn't positive. Beans were clumpy and solid. Sprinkling of cheddar didn't help. Guacamole was smooth and almost had a pablum consistency. Not a rough mash showing chunks of avocado. Lime missing, salt, something? Salad was a big disappointment. Skip if you must. Iceberg, chopped timato and another sprinkling of cheddar. Portion size of Paula's Special Burrito (chimichanga) vs half is only 90 cents difference. Go for the full if you're aching for a burrito. #9 Which is a burrito & a taco is a more than enough for lunch (choice of beef, chicken, pork). Had enough tasting so dessert was a no no. Opted for a slice of pie from Croshaw's. Paula's has her loyal fans and (may she rest in peace) and kudos to her and her husband building a home, and legacy establishment here in St George. I understand restaurant owners often temper their cooking to the palates of their customers. I'm guessing that's what's happened over the years. While it's Tex-Mex, there is nothing that will set your mouth on fire or remind you you are alive. A dish of peppers would be nice.
