I sat at the bar and enjoyed a Dos Equis Amber with the complimentary chips and salsa. The chunkier salsa was my favorite over the milder one. The bar tender recommended the Katrina special; chicken, steak and shrimp on Mexican rice and cheese and I added a side of refried beans. The bar tender brought me a fresh bowl of chips and I enjoyed eating my meal on the chips with the beans and salsa. The portion size was big enough to stretch into dinner and 2 lunches. The food was satisfactory. The service was satisfactory the price was moderate. It can be a little loud inside. When we initially came, there was somebody that asked how many in our party they left and then another person came up and took people from behind us that just walked in, never acknowledging us. We had a great experience here! We were seated quickly and chips and salsa brought to our table immediately! Chips were warm and salsa had good flavor. Decor is festive and bright setting the vibe as fun and casual. Our server came to the table and took our order for the house margaritas that were in special. They were cold and strong, perfect for a hot July day! We had the chori pollo and enchiladas and both were excellent! Portions and prices were good as well. Visited on a Sunday at 12pm for lunch. Normal Mexican restaurant. Located in Sun Valley shopping center. Decorated beautifully with a bunch of Catrina, Dia de los Muertos portraits. Immediately sat down. Ordered a ceviche tostada with a Ground beef taco salad. Nothing spectacular to be honest. Normal flavoring on food. Just the same old Mexican food, drinks and ambiance. I went here for the first time recently. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I had a to-go order for a California burrito w/ steak, no guac, add shredded cheese. It was just ok.There were no fries in the burrito which was a bummer b/c that is why I ordered it. The mild salsa was pretty bad, it tasted like a cross between tomato sauce and ketchup, I couldn't put my finger on it. Undecided if I would go back to try something else. read more

Pretty decent spot, a little on the pricey side. Staff were nice enough and the food was decent . The only minus was that they had a sign out front advertising specials for food and drinks and when we ordered the server had no clue what we were talking about. The server asked the bar and they said no that's not a thing and then erased the sign. We ordered something else but I'm sure that cause a little bit of confusion for a few people. read more

Just ate at Katrina's in Sun Valley & was very pleased. Started with the guacamole that was delicious. My husband had veggie fajitas with pineapple & I had a shrimp taco salad & we really enjoyed both. Shrimp was cooked perfectly & was flavorful not bland & chewy like so many. My husband liked the variety of his fajitas & said they were cooked perfectly. Server was very friendly & attentive & it was a beautiful day so we were able to eat on their patio. I'm going to give this 5 stars because overall the service was fantastic and the vibe was great! We never had to ask for refills of chips or salsa and the waitress was always prompt without being annoying! We ordered the chori con pollo which was delicious and the flautas which came 2 ground beef and 2 chicken. Going to be honest that these were not my favorite, the chicken and beef were pretty plain with no sauce or cheese and the flautas were covered with lettuce and pico making them a bit soggy. The skinny margarita was delicious and they don't skimp on tequila!! They have seating inside and outside on a nice patio. The other slight turnoff was no prices on drinks or dessert menus... just a pet peeve I guess. I would definitely come back, great experience! read more

First time eating here, and pleasently suprised at how tasty it was. I had the Katrina's special and it was very good. Meat, cheese and rice and it was flavorful and filling. I could have used more rice but I do like a lot of rice. Servers were attentive and helpful when asked for recommendations. They give out two salsas with chips and the "spicy" one was very nicely flavored. Asked for multiple refills. The plain salsa lacked distinction flavor, but that seemed to be what it was going for. I've been several times to Katrina's and the food is very good, the service is pleasant and friendly and has a great overall vibe. I'm a retiree and I love to have solo movie days at Sun Valley Movie Theater and find places that are enjoyable eating on my own with good environment and friendly service. We go here all the time and the food and service is always great! My husband almost always gets the Katrina's Special and I try to get something different each time and it is always delicious.
