Blue Agave offers a great selection of Mexican food and by complete comparison is an upscale Chipotle. If you order ANY of the Burritos you will not be disappointed. I grew up in Port Orchard WA and this Blue Agave is near my house. I can say honestly that any item on the menu is good. A few of the best are: Burrito, Tequitos, Tortilla Soup, Shrimp Tacos. I am Brazilian and was visiting my husband's family for thanksgiving for the week and although I love thanksgiving and american food too, I was missing and craving latin food like never before. Looking from the outside, you might think that it's not going to be an epic culinary experience but don't let it fool you. The fajitas we ordered were seasoned to perfection and you can see when people put care on their tortillas and they do! I'm still in awe and its been 10 minutes since I left. This being my daughter's favorite Mexican restaurant in town, she treated me to a daddy/daughter dinner date so we could sit and chat for a long while. That part was glorious. And the dining experience at Blue Agave was far better than the previous times I'd eaten there which was years ago. It was a frosty night, freezing rain with black ice on the roads everywhere. We turned out to be the only customers in the place although a few other people came in for takeout orders. We agreed on two plates of Carne Asada nachos. I looked at the size of the portions being piled onto both plates and thought one plate would've sufficed since there was too much food on the two plates. I turned out to be wrong. Having a heart-to-heart between daddy and daughter works up quite an appetite, or you just absent-mindedly eat as you talk. In either case, we left some food over so we could both claim to have exerted some portion control. The nachos were very good, smothered with melted cheese and with the serving of tasty chopped steak, and plentiful melted cheddar and jack cheeses, beans (I think my daughter chose refried) sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole. I also went to the salsa bar to bring back a few cups of two different hot salsas. They made the mound of nachos even more tasty. But was most impressive to me was that while we were left alone to chat, one of the three men working in the restaurant (one behind the food ordering counter to cook up and serve the food, another behind the bar, and a third who apparently was the host/utility man) cleared our table of empty plates and cups, and refilled our water glasses. It was among the best daddy/daughter dinner dates I've ever enjoyed, enhanced by the tasty food and great service. The only issue I had was smelling the killer duo of garlic and shrimp sizzling on the grill for someone's to-go order. That combo of smells strikes to the very center of my culinary heart. Last year my wife and I enjoyed our lunch at the Gig Harbor restaurant. it's time to give the local one another visit for a full lunch or dinner. So far this is the best Mexican food! Staff was very helpful when ordering. Chicken taquitos were excellent! Beans and rice were freshly made and tasted great. The burrito was huge, big enough for two people. Only downside for the burrito was the red sauce they cover it in, taste Like spaghetti sauce. Scraped off the sauce and they covered it with the green sauce, much more authentic taste. The Cadillac margarita was excellent! Will definitely be returning here! read more
