Just got back from a fabulous dinner at the Avon location. Our server Jake was very attentive and we were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the service. We ordered the tableside quacamole and it was definitely a highlight! Connor did a great job of preparing it right in front of us with the fresh cut tomatoes, onions and jalepenos. The food is flavorless and boring. For example the enchiladas are plain meat of choice rolled up with no sauce or seasoning on the inside with the absolute minimum amount of sauce dried to the outside of the tortilla. Not even proper enchilada skins. I order the shrimp ones and my wife ordered chicken both were bone dry and bland. The background music kept getting louder to the point that not only could I not hear myself talk but it was getting painful to be there. Never again. read more

We have not been to this restaurant in a long time. We were greeted at the door entering and every staff member within their roles greeted us and said thank you for coming! The service was spectacular throughout the meal! My food was great- my only complaint was that the butterfly shrimp had their entire shell still on. The food was delicious- it was a platter of shrimp with cheese onions and mushrooms with lettuce and tomato on a bed of their delicious rice. So very good! Thank you for the great meal! read more

It never fails that when we order for take out, they will somehow forget something. Tonight, they forgot the tortilla for the queso fundido - the tortilla is half of that dish. And they forgot the request to have an extra salsa. This is is an example of multiple issues with past orders. Very sloppy. Two peas visited the restaurant and this is our breakdown of why we rated it 2 stars. 1. the salsa tasted like the base was ketchup 2. Mexican street corn comes with an odd number of corns... why 3?, also not very flavorful, needed more parmesan. the street corn needed more street. 3. 1 pea had the fish tacos; they were mid to say the least. ehh could've been more flavorful. 4 the other pea had the steak fajitas, very small portion of meat and sides, NO SAUCE AT ALL!!! We went out for lunch on a rainy Saturday. The place wasn't too busy, maybe because of the rain. The restaurant was classy and clean; love the wall of candles. It really makes the place feel romantic. This was a pretty spacious restaurant too. They dropped off complimentary chips and salsa; the chips were super fresh and warm, the salsa was ok. We started off with the classic margaritas which were good. The waitress asked if we wanted large or small, we opted for large but didn't realize the price difference. A small was $11 and a large was $19; we probably should've looked at the price before purchasing it but it was a big margarita and it was good. I decided to get the super nachos as my meal because I love loaded nachos. This had fresh tortilla chips, ground beef, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. I thought it was pretty big and I got full off of it; I actually took the rest home. I had a bite of my husband's burrito and that was really good. Next time, I want to try out their combination meal, you have a choice between one, two, or three. You can pick burrito, enchilada, tostada, etc. The service was quick and attentive. Overall, a good Mexican restaurant in the area and I look forward to going back. read more

Great Mexican food is hard to come by, so when we find it I always have to talk about it. We've tried to come here a few times but they tend to be very busy, so definitely call ahead and make a reservation (especially if it's a Friday or Saturday night.) Coming in, you'll notice the beautiful bar area, that's somewhat secluded from the rest of the booths and tables. Some seats can fit 2 people while other tables can fit a large party, so it's definitely a great spot to have a date night or have a get together with some friends. Our waitress was very personable and incredibly knowledgeable with the menu, she was able to answer any questions we had. One thing that stood out to us was that our chips, salsa and drinks were never empty. They were quick to make sure everything was always refilled and it's the little details like that that really make the experience even better overall. The food was great as well, everything was fresh and flavorful and piping hot. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like. We keep coming back and enjoying our dining experiences here. And once again, we're not going to get into the argument over what constitutes "authentic" Mexican dishes. Suffice to day that in our view this is simply a restaurant that serves consistently tasty dishes with excellent service. We remain fond of the pico and guacamole. Our most recent trip included the delicious Ceviche and a slightly spicy pollo Aasado. The prices are quite reasonable, and they are still making very appealing margaritas. My family celebrated my Mothers 70th Birthday here yesterday. Our waiter, Salvatory helped make it such a fun, funny & special time. He went above and beyond to make our celebration wonderful. Salvatory put a flower in our margaritas, and at the end of our meal, he came with the whole crew, a Mexican hat for my Mom to wear, what appeared to be a Roman candle shooting off it's sparks, a beautifully decorated happy birthday plate and dessert. All the waiters & waitresses clapped & sang Happy Birthday which topped off our celebration in the best of ways. So I have a big gripe about a little issue with my bill tonight, I will address that later in my review. The chips and salsa here are good. The salsa is the best of the Mexican restaurants around IMO. I had the chicken chimichanga, it was very good but it came with sour cream and guacamole which was not on the menu description as an option. The chicken and beef fajitas were outstanding. Dessert was good. The churros were average and fried ice cream was unusual, more like freezer burned ice cream rolled in frosted flakes and coconut. Not my favorite. Our service was slow, the bartender was taking care of the table and besides the 12 at the bar and 4 other tables, he had to make drinks for a packed restaurant. Now to my gripe. The server gave me the machine to process payment, I hit the 20% tip tab. (Still being generous for slow service). My subtotal was $69.00 even. In my math, 20% of $69 is $13.80. My receipt shows a tip of $14.82. For that I really would rate this one star, because that doesn't seem to me like truthful business practice. Because of that, I probably would not go back. Alright... not bad. I know I can be tough to please because I'm a snob from NYC and I've owned restaurants in the past... but I would give this place more than 3 stars if there were a 3.5! The staff were all very nice, even if a couple seemed a little inexperienced. The guacamole was supposed to be made "tableside," which for me is part of the experience (even though my wife makes some of the best guacamole I've ever had)... but they brought it out ready from the kitchen and it was still pretty good. My main concern was that it was completely fresh, and I believe it was. They probably skipped the tableside thing because it was almost 10pm and they were closing the kitchen. I'm glad I got the guacamole because my daughter didn't really like the street corn. She's half Mexican, and her mom is from Guadalajara (like a 5 hour drive from the real Puerto Vallarta) so I expected her to like it. I tried it and the corn itself was good and juicy, though the way it was seasoned was just O.K. The flavor of my Tortilla Soup was good, though I felt it was overloaded with tortilla strips and other things... normally that would be fine, as they're actually giving you MORE value for your money, but I really did want to see more broth. Not really a complaint though... it was good. I got a frozen strawberry Daiquiri (I know, in a Mexican restaurant... shame on me!), and my daughter got the same, but Virgin. TBH, I liked hers better. Somehow I wasn't crazy about their house Rum. One thing I was relieved about, though, was its price. I started reading reviews AFTER we placed our order and many ppl here complained about spending like $18.25 for a skinny margarita. I was afraid to see the check when we were done, but they only charged $10 for mine (totally fair) and $5 for my daughter (I would have accepted $6... totally cool). I won't be going back, as I'm not from these parts, and I wouldn't say you HAVE to try this place, but I wouldn't say you should avoid it, either. It's nice that they're open past 9pm in these parts! And I loved the decor! read more
