Can't say my experience was positive. Went there with a group of 8 total, called ahead the day before. At a 6pm dinner with me and a few friends and family for my 40th birthday celebration. While being off in a private corner was nice, we were sort of forgotten about. Had to take our water pitcher to the bar for a refills. Messed up one order, didn't put the order in for me. So 1 order messed up, 1 order not put in, lack of service, what food I did sample was decent. Pizza was technically pizza... maybe? And it was all written off with a carefree so sorry from management. 20% gratuity automatically added, no bill adjustments for the errors. I went there for dinner for the first time last week because I was looking for a place that was dog friendly. They were very welcoming regarding my dog, they gave her a fresh bowl of water and the kitchen even cut up her beef burger into bite size pieces. I ordered the salmon tacos with mango salsa. Went back last night and had a very nice experience. Although we chose to eat inside, we were offered an outdoor spot- the patio was crowded, the weather was very nice, and the singer guitarist (whose music was piped inside) was quite gifted. We ordered an artichoke dip and pita toasts ($9) as an appy, and our dinner choices were a Cobb Salad ($11) , a classic hamburger ($11), and Michael's Brick Roasted Half Chicken ($16) . The service was attentive and friendly. Our meals were all very good, the portion sizes were generous, and our server scaled a dining room chair to manually surf through hundred of Direct TV stations for us, so we could watch the Yankee game. My Cobb salad was very good- nice grilled chicken cubes, crumbles of blue cheese, with fresh lettuce, tomato and crisp bacon pieces. I took home plenty. My Black and Blue (Guiness and Blue Moon) was excellent. They have a nice Happy Hour from 3:00-6:00 on Monday to Friday. Millers or Buds for $3, wines for $5, and a whole bunch of $3 Bar Bites- Jalapeno Poppers, Bocce Balls, Fried Mozz, wings, nachos, and 4 kinds of fries. read more

What a great find! We were leaving an event in Simsbury Friday night and looked for a place to grab a bite for our party of 6. I did a quick online search and called this place. We were accommodated immediately. Very nice outdoor patio space. We were seated in the lower level. Very clean and seemed to adhere to COVID guidance so we were comfortable. The server was very sweet; we started with THE BEST boneless bbq chicken (app) that she recommended and tasty mozzarella sticks. For entrees we had chicken parm ( very good), quesadilla (good), pulled pork Mac & cheese ( I wish I got a pic as it was more of a delish mixed casserole vs pulled pork AND mac&cheese) , fish & chips (avg) , & apple salad (very good). The only reason not 5 stars is my mom was looking for something warm and despite being on the menu, there was no soup. Very good price point and variety. I love this place, they just need to do a better job answering their phones and making their hours known. I have to jump through hoops (sometimes even showing up and ordering my takeout in person) to get ahold of this place. Their Facebook will say there open when they aren't and that's frustrating. Overall, I have great food experiences here. I highly recommend their sweet chili chicken bites. It's technically an appetizer but if you purchase a side of fries, it's a meal. read more

I went there with a friend very very recently in the evening hours and and the bartender was completely drunk on the job to the point several customers left their table to show support to several others who were complaining among ourselves that the man was blacked out drunk and fairly confused of where he was at times. The same bartender nonchalantly picked food from our plate earlier on that night and smiled like it was a normal thing do, we didn't realize how drunk he was and brushed it off. If there were half of a star that's what I would have given this bar. I'm not sure if it's management or individual bartenders or all of the above but this is the most unprofessional, sloppy service you'll find. The same bartender at some point as I and other customers were waiting in line to use the man's room that same bartender was seen leaving the LADIES ROOM after a female customer came out the ladies bathroom fixing her clothes, and soon he came out looked at us, laughed and said "what" and went back into handling people's beer and food!!! I don't think I need to put in details what took place in that bathroom and the way that man was blacked out drunk I highly doubt he washed his hands! That's not even the worse of it nooooo, some of us decide to leave and asked for our debit cards we had on tab and the bartender doesn't know where some of our debit cards are!!!! One of the workers there overheard what was happening, this particular person was sober and helped the blacked out drunk bartender looked for them and it turned out he gave the wrong cards back to the wrong people who has already left the bar! So some of us had to call our bank to hold and cancel our cards so whomever has them doesn't put charges on them, it was a complete mess and needless to say I won't be going back there and I suspect others won't either after that experience. read more

Food was pretty good. I'd give 3 starts for food. I think every one at our table enjoyed the food. Service needed some serious help. We made a reservation for 9 people and a high chair. We get there and they begin setting up 2 tall tables with a high chair about 3 feet below the table. What??? Therefore the child would not even be able to see us. My SIL & BIL had to hold the child or walk her around the entire time because she was fussy not being able to see us or be a part of the table. As someone who worked in the industry for many years how do you set up a set of high tops with a high chair... we even had high chair in the reservation so it should have come at no surprise. Our drinks came 30 minutes after we ordered them. That would be a couple beers, mimosas and a margarita,.. not rocket science to make for 30 minutes. Oh, and not all of them came. We had to ask where the rest of them where. There were a few other issues but they are minor so I just wanted to highlight to big ticket issues. read more

The food was super good, very fresh and delicious! Went on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend, it was weirdly empty which threw me off. Walked in and the wait staff was sitting at the bar because no one was in the restaurant. Sat outside on the patio, and were the only people there. Got kinda worried this place was going to be horrible, but the food was very tasty, not super expensive, and wait staff very friendly. I got the lyme tacos (ate all three of them, would absolutely order them again) and my BF got the fajita wrap, which he also loved. So I'm not from the area, but was going for a haunted hayride, and was told this was the place to hang out. I was pretty disappointed. There were a total of 3 people in there when we got there, but service was terribly slow. It took forever just to get drinks. Then when one of us would ask for another drinks, the server wouldn't look around and ask if anyone else needed another round, she would run away. Ten minutes later when she came back with the one drink, someone else would manage to get their order in. It was terrible. I ordered fries and they were fine. The food seemed pretty expensive for a bar. Not that I'm cheap but sort of don't think that it's justified especially at this place. It's not high end. $11 for a cheese quesadilla appetizer or $12.50 for spinach artichoke dip is insanity. I bet it's nice in the summer when you can sit on the patio, but I'm not sure I'd ever go back to find out. We were there for over an hour and a half and only managed to get two rounds of drinks...due to extremely slow service. Even getting the check took forever. It's one thing to have a relaxing leisurely meal, it's quite another when you need things and can't get them. read more

Came here after a search for a lunch place while waiting for our mini Schnauzer to finish his trip to the doggie salon. Lime Grill is tucked on top of a hill amid the many shoppes in the Riverdale Farms shopping center on rte. 10 in Avon. Althugh their sign boasts opening at noon, I walked up a few minutes prior and it was evident that it was open a bit earlier, as two patrons already were enjoying themselves at the bar. I sat down a few stools away, enough for autonomous iPhoning, but close enough to carry on friendly conversation. The bar area was done over in dark woods, with a view on the left of Avon Mountain, and four flat-screen TVs behind the bar. Comfy. Right away I noticed they had Lagunitas IPA on draught...I knew it would be a good experience. (They also carried Beack East Ale, a local favorite from Bloomfield) I perused the menu, which was not laden with many many choices, still enough diversity to satisfy most, with a good lean on apps, salads and bar food. One thing that intrigued me, though I didn't try them, was a signature creation called Bocce Balls - fried dough stuffed with sasuage and ricotta. May be next time, but this time I chose Buffalo wings and their special burger of the day, the American Burger, a 1/2 lb. beauty laid upon white toast, with lettuce, tomato and American cheese. The burger was succulent, cooked to a near-perfect medium. The bread on burger was a bit reminiscent of the famous Big Beef of Friendly's fame, although this rendition was far superior. The wings were good-sized, grilled, and dressed in a good, but not great, buffalo sauce. The accompanying blue cheese dressing was 2/3 chunks. Here's where I go a bit on a tangent...if you're giving somebody dressing for dipping, give them dressing, not chunks. Also, each chunk was about the same size and cubic shape, which leads me to believe it was a less expensive commercial brand. I didn't stay for dessert (exept a second IPA) because my Zeus was due from Doggie dos. Suffice it to say I had a good lunch, albeit a bit on the pricier side, with 2 draughts, a burger and wings coming to just over $35. We'll try this spot again for dinner, maybe in the dining room, and maybe when not pressured by picking up our pooch. Overall it was a good experience. The bartender was friendly, eager to please, and ketp attention on the tables in the bar as they filled over the course of the lunch period. read more

It was cooked perfectly and just so bursting with flavor! And enormous. Big enough to share. Also had barbecue and buffalo wings. I'm really picky about wings. These were awesome! Well, beautiful Sunday afternoon, looking to sit outside, enjoy the weather and some food. Got to the Lyme Grill, Empty tables outside and inside. Went in and we were told a 45 minute wait. Explained there were open tables and we were told they had no wait staff, bar staff or basically anyone that could handle a routine Sunday. Very disappointed! Not sure how anyone could be short staffed with all the college kids home and looking for work. Oh well, we move on to Plan B (literally)! read more

I've been here several times since my original review. This place can frustrate me at times because, as good as it is, it really could be even better. Case in point: We had a lovely dinner out on the outdoor patio -- which is one of the finest places to eat outside in the Farmington Valley. A view of Heublein Tower on a nice evening is fabulous. The music is playing. All good. Except, why did it take 25 minutes for the apps to come out? Or to get sugar for an iced tea? It wasn't crowded and it wasn't complicated -- wings and calamari. Again, the wings and calamari were terrific. Good quality meat and squid. But it took a while to get it. Main course also came out after a wait too. Again, it was quite good -- cobb salad was enough to feed 3 people, for example. Is the kitchen working on perfection? Or were there too many takeout orders holding things up? So, if this place wants to earn a fifth star, it needs to work on the service and speed. The quality is great and the decor/atmosphere is wonderful on these summer nights. Ugh! I never know how to award stars in my reviews. Let me start at the end of my time at Lime Bar. We got the check quickly and I loved my mac and cheese with pulled pork in it. The patio is spacious and in a nice setting. Good beers too. Our waitress was terrible. She was so bad that another waiter stopped by to ask if we needed anything. (yes, a new waiter, STAT). I'm don't want to hold it against Lime Bar that they have one person who needs a career change (or was just having a wicked bad day) so I'm sure I'll try it again in the future. This place has gone in the crapper. Haven't been there in a year and a half. They used to have a great chicken parm ginder. Ordered one to go and it was a dry tasteless batter coated discussing mess. Where is the parm?? No sauce or cheese??? The only saving grace is that I didn't eat it there. It seems to have become one of those LOCAL old Man bars. The 4 or 5 old guys sitting at the bar looked at me like I just walk in from another planet. 1/4 of the sandwich went in my stomach the rest down the garbage disposal. Sorry garbage disposal for have to taste that crap sandwich. I want my $13 buck back. WONT GO BACK EVER!! read more

Under new management and positive change all around. The food menu has been overhauled and certainly for the better. There are many delicious selections to choose from that won't let you down. Thus far I've been really impressed by the garlic wings, mac & cheese bites, and cheeseburger sliders. That's only scratching the surface though. In addition to the rejuvenated menu, I've also been impressed by the staff. Over our last few visits, they've gone more than out of their way to take care of us, and they've been one of the biggest reasons we keep going back. TJ in particular has been a stand out and is easily one of the best at what he does. Overall, the breath of fresh air has definitely catapulted this place into the top bar & grill of the area. read more

This was our first time at Lyme. A real inviting atmosphere both inside the dining room and out on the patio. We chose to eat out on the patio because it was a beautiful evening. Great two-tiered patio with ample and comfortable seating. Our server was friendly and personable; and she offered some outstanding recommendations. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers to share. Fried Calamari with cherry peppers, Long Soft Pretzels with beer cheese, Artichoke dip with pita bread, Guacamole with chips, and a side of (extra crispy) Fries - we requested that way. Everything was delicious, reasonably priced, and good portions. We took home leftovers. The Guac was on point, very tasty and chunky. My wife really liked her Margarita.
