This is a good place to grab a beer and a burger at the end of a long day! The service is usually fast (sometimes you have to make your presence known). The inside is a classic American-style pub.

Outstanding food! Great chef & Liz is a great server too...especially for very reasonable prices! The steak kebabs & chicken lettuce wraps were delicious. Meatballs ok. Very good strawberry salad w/ chicken. My wife & I are definitely returning, especially for the very nice dog friendly patio!

Can't say my experience was positive. Went there with a group of 8 total, called ahead the day before. At a 6pm dinner with me and a few friends and family for my 40th birthday celebration. While being off in a private corner was nice, we were sort of forgotten about. Had to take our water pitcher to the bar for a refills. Messed up one order, didn't put the order in for me. So 1 order messed up, 1 order not put in, lack of service, what food I did sample was decent. Pizza was technically pizza... maybe? And it was all written off with a carefree so sorry from management. 20% gratuity automatically added, no bill adjustments for the errors. I've worked 13 years in both chain and high end restaurants, this was a poor showing for a meal I was very excited for.

    Greek salad

Another place that want I to like because it's nearby but I am often underwhelmed. This is their "Greek salad", which consists of a whole tomato cut into quarters. I mean honestly, who eats tomatoes like this? There's nothing Greek about it either, no feta, no olives, barely any lettuce and giant tomatoes.

Restaurant is very neat and clean. On this evening we were promptly seated and our waiter was very attentive and provided excellent service throughout the evening. The bacon burger with fried egg was good. Very large portion and cooked to perfection. Would have liked the beef with a little more flavor. Egg was over cooked. The brioche bun was excellent. French fries were good size portion.

What a great find! We were leaving an event in Simsbury Friday night and looked for a place to grab a bite for our party of 6. I did a quick online search and called this place. We were accommodated immediately. Very nice outdoor patio space. We were seated in the lower level. Very clean and seemed to adhere to COVID guidance so we were comfortable. The server was very sweet; we started with THE BEST boneless bbq chicken (app) that she recommended and tasty mozzarella sticks. For entrees we had chicken parm ( very good), quesadilla (good), pulled pork Mac & cheese ( I wish I got a pic as it was more of a delish mixed casserole vs pulled pork AND mac&cheese) , fish & chips (avg) , & apple salad (very good). The only reason not 5 stars is my mom was looking for something warm and despite being on the menu, there was no soup. Very good price point and variety. Nice atmosphere -- will definitely visit this hidden gem again!!!

Pay as you go pours and tons of choices to taste?!!! I will definitely be going back.. Also, there was live music that played tight up to the very last minute!!! You go in, and they attach your charge card to a pour card. you put the card above the tap & it "opens" it for you to pour as much or as little as you like. I will go back and try the food and rate the atmosphere. I hope this idea catches on on the east coast.. it's great!

"Try me (try me), Try me (try me) And your love will always…read morebe true" (James Brown and the Famous Flames) The future of craft beer consumption may be right here ! Try-It Taproom has 44 self-serve taps of Connecticut beer, wine, seltzer and cider. That's right --self-serve taps, just like the soda machines at McDonalds. So what's to prevent patrons from getting sloshed? There are two built in safeguards. All ABVs are under 6% and your self-serve access card will cut you off after 32 ounces (2 pints). Then you'll have to interact with a staff member who'll decide on your next drinks, just like what happens in a real live old fashioned bar 20th Century bar. When we walked in we were greeted by owner Michelle and Izzy, one of the several charming hostesses you'll find at Try-It. Izzy explained how things work, walked us over to the taps, and schooled us -so here ya go on the deets. You need to produce a picture ID (state law) and a credit card. Your credit card is then tied to a card they'll issue you which gains you access to 32 ounces of your desired beverages at their 44 taps. You can fill a pint glass or a small flight glass of anything. It's super cool because now you have total control of whatever and how much or little you want to try. I sampled three beers and two ciders. All beer types are represented, so even though I'm not an IPA guy I still had plenty to choose from. I went with a Japanese Lager named Crunchy Roll, a Cream Ale by Tox Brewing (New London) and a Whitbeier from Cheshire's Counterweight Brewery. My two ciders were Sweet Vanilla by Stafford's Crazy Cock and Honeycrisp by Yankee Cider in East Haddam. You can order food through a tabletop QR code, and we shared an excellent Everything Bavarian Pretzel and an order of Pallines (Italian deli dumplings). We really loved everything about Try-It. The very cool Hi-Tech vibe, the delightful and very helpful staff (shout out to Izzy), the food and the crazy number of available beverages. They even had live music on the outdoor patio. Every list has to have a first thing on it, and it's very cool to know that our state's very first self-serve alcohol tap establishment is right here in Avon, CT. Go Try Try-It and see for yourself.

I was super excited to see Foxon Park Thimble Island Brewery hard sodas all the way in Simsbury! I've been wanting to pick some up in the Branford/ East Haven area but it's such a long drive and package stores sell out fast. Also found the Smash on the Beach drinks I was looking for, hard Sunny D, and New England blueberry cider which is also hard to find sometimes. They have a good selection of Connecticut beer, and gift bags stationed nearby for an easy to assemble gift for the beer drinker in your life. I wasn't overly impressed by the prices, but the employees at checkout were perfectly polite. There is a parking lot near the entrance of the store, and handicapped parking right by the door. I would love to know how to get out to the light at the nearby car wash, otherwise the most accessible exits may have you waiting a decent amount of time (depending on the time of day) to turn left onto 202.
