Darned good food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I've gone to a few locations and have been pleased by all. I am an aspiring cook with a decent knowledge and tastebuds of Mexicano dishes and this one is pretty close. I am more of a bar guy but I opted for a booth which turned out to be a really fun authentic scene in the dining area and the staff was incredible. Waiters and waitresses that weren't even waiting on me were asking me if I was OK and how I was doing. The food and drink came so fast I was suspicious but it was incredible. My husband and I have heard good things about Puerto Vallarta, so we took our family and my mother-in-law to dinner. None of us were impressed. Casa Ramos is much better! My sopes were covered with a grey-brown pork and green salsa which made for a pretty disgusting looking plate. The taste of the food was ok, but nothing close to the freshness and quality from Casa Ramos. Very disapointed to spend $70 for that. Didn't even take my leftovers :( read more

So I suggested we go to my favorite Mexican place... and wow, how embarrassing it was to have to leave before he could even take a drink of his mango margarita. While driving down from Portland,I decided to check out other restaurants here in Yreka,as we were again staying at the Best Western .We love it here. So we decided on Puerto Vallarta,after reading most of the reviews here & on Trip Advisor *where I will also submit a review. We were greeted by Dominic, who is the son of Adrian,the owner .Check out the back of the menu for a photo of the owner & family. He seated us immediately,& we also had my service dog ,"Monster" with us & I started to put him under the table as I normally do,on his little bed,Dominic said it was ok to put him up next to me on the seat of the booth. Needless to say he was quite pleased. We then were quickly waited on by him,bringing us the complementary chips,salsa and as other reviewers noted,their tasty bean dip with cheese.So yummy!,I ordered a small combo plate ,a pork enchilada & chili relleno AND rice & beans! it was served on a platter! their portions are HUGE and very ,very good. Hubs had a Large combo & was certainly not disappointed & we both were pleasantly full. After a 5 hour drive & to have a great meal-PRICELESS. Outstandingly delicious food. Chips, salsa and refried beans to start. A little cheese drizzled on the beans. Salsa with bits of veg, a little smoky flavor and right amount of spice for me. Went well with my cerveza frio con limon. I ordered one tamale, one carnitas taco and one fish taco. Shredded beef was yum inside masa covered with tasty sauce. The generous portion of pork carnitas on double small soft tortilla was perfect to my taste. The best of all was the fish taco. This was not some deep fried batter coated piece but rather diced marinated fish on a medium tortilla covered by a mound of shredded lettuce. I was stuffed but a still managed to eat the complimentary sweet and cinnamoned fried tortilla covered with whipped cream and drizzle of strawberry compote. Only downer, the cream was from a can. Still not over: complimentary tequila popper! Chased with last of my beer. Best meal I have had in a long time for only $18 + tip. read more

Delicious food and LARGE plates. My crew and I have been in Yreka working on the fires in the area and eaten here 4 times so far. Everyone has had something different then the last with consistent good quality. The service is decent to good as is the setting. The bathrooms need MUCH more attention but overall we'll continue eating there while in the area. read more

Agree with the other positive reviews. Our meal was very good, the portions huge, the fresh salsa tasty, the "Ultimate" margarita excellent, and the service prompt and very friendly. The complimentary bean dip appetizer with chips and complimentary fried tortilla for dessert made it feel like a 5 course dinner! This place is awesome. Six of us came for lunch, and ordered a variety of things, from kids beans and cheese burritos to fish tacos, salads, even soup. Everyone was happy with their lunch and the food was excellent. Service was prompt and the restaurant was clean and bright. I stop here on the way to/from Oregon every trip. The chips are warm, fresh, and crisp. They come with a delicious bean dip and spicy salsa. The service is very friendly. The place is always busy. I enjoy the Arroz con Pollo. It is a huge dish of peppers, grilled chicken, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, delicious red sauce, and cheese served over tender rice. Delicious! Me and my family came up from Oakland for Spring Break to go to Oregon. We stopped in Yreka and Yelped a good place for lunch. We decided on Mexican and stopped here. I've lived in Oakland my entire life and have eaten more than my share of Mexican food, but this was hands down the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. The bean dip for the tortilla chips was so good we ordered three helpings. The nachos we're unbelievably tasty and flavorful, and the dessert's tastiness cannot be described in words. If you are ever in Yreka, you need to go here. It will blow your mind. read more

I ate here when I was passing through for a road trip with a friend. We just got food to go so we could keep driving. The service was speedy and pleasant, but the food was not great. It was edible, but I've had much better. I got the tacos to be quick, and they were bland. The beans and rice were ok. The chips were fresh and good, but the salsa was not (too much of a tomato sauce flavor, not balanced well). As far as it goes, I'm glad I ate here over McDonald's, but if it were in my hometown, I would go somewhere else for Mexican food. read more

We were headed back into California and found this place with the help of Yelp! It was excellent food and service. The carne Asada was cooked perfectly and seasoned better than any we have ever had (and we are from Central Valley Ca, very large Mexican population). If this place were close it would be our new "go to". Will definitely stop again when up this way. read more

Just discovered this restaurant across the parking lot from the liquor store where we stop on the way home to Washington state. The food was good, the people were very nice and not only do you get chips but you also get salsa and beans and then at the end they give you a little sweetness for a complimentary dessert. will definitely go back. This is not Mexica food!! My tostada was soggy, shredded beef was more on the sweet side. My boyfriend order tamales and they tasted like cardboard, more like frozen food. The horchata was pure sugar I had to get a new glass and do half water and half the horchata and on top of it the prices are ridiculous.. OVER price!! read more

Very nice people. A solid friendly Mexican restaurant. Nice fresh hot chips and good salsa. A pretty traditional menu but well executed. Portions big enough to share. Very reasonable pricing. They also brought us a complimentary dessert - fried flour tortillas dusted with sugar & cinnamon with a ribbon of strawberry sauce and some whipped cream. Perhaps it was because of the holidays? While on a road trip we happened to stop at this little restaurant and boy am I glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious and the service excellent. Not as fancy or as large as across the street but... If you've never tried seafood molcajete you have no idea how good it is. Their portion size is HUGE compared to across the street and overall Puerto Vallarta just makes a superior seafood molcajete. I've never had anything but great service. Love this place! read more

The food and friendly service deserves 5 stars, however if you have food allergies don't eat here. They lied to us and said there wasn't any wheat in their sauce, but then told us later (after we ate) that it did have a little bit of wheat in the sauce and said it shouldn't affect us. We all got sick. If you don't have allergies I highly recommend them though. read more
