Took my mom there for mother's day. Gave us both a rose very nice. Service was so so the waiter was nice but didn't come to the table very much. Worst Mexican food that I've had in a long time. Greasy, greasy. Wait service was slow and not attentive to needing water or checking to see if everything was ok. I could not distinguish my enchiladas from my tamales, all of the food was basically micro-waved together to the point of not being able to tell what you were eating when you took a bite. While the beer selection was somewhat subpar, their tequila selection makes up for it. Their food rises above the expectations of a standard Americanized mexican food establishment, everything used appeared to be very fresh and was, indeed, tasty. I came here with friends last year on a road trip on the way up to and back from Oregon. The food was really good and affordable, the service was friendly and the decor was really neat. Well there's not much to say about this experience. We needed to eat and the place was right next door to our hotel. We were seated immediately and they brought us out chips, salsa and bean dip for free. The pitcher of Margarita's was pretty tasty but I could have used more tequila in it. Our food was made and brought out to us super quick and was piping hot. Only downside is the food sucked and didn't have much flavor or taste. Ended up here on a Sunday evening and kid's menu was 99 cents. The kid's portions were ample, as were the adults' portions. I got one of the large combo plates and ate too much and couldn't finish it. The guacamole was exceptional, and the chips are fresh and flavorful. This place is awesome! Waiters are extremely nice and professional. No wait time on being seated and was provided chips, salsa, bean dip, and water as soon as we sat down. On our road trip from Sacramento to Washington, we got hungry near Yreka and stopped in based on yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. In fact it exceeded our expectations. Service was great... We were promptly greeted, seated, and served delicious hot fresh chips, great salsa and surprisingly they also serve a small plate of refried beans. The owner was friendly and stopped by several times to see how we were doing. Portions were HUGE especially considering it was a lunch menu. Our group had a variety of things...(ground beef taco, pork enchilada, chili rellano, and shredded beef taco salad) -- everybody enjoyed what they ordered. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful with an authentic flair. Sopapillas were yummy and provided the perfect ending to a delicious meal! You definitely get your moneys worth here! While visiting my hometown last month, I decided to take my sister out to dinner (she lives in Yreka) because it was getting late and no one wanted to cook. This restaurant is one of the best Mexican Restaurants I have ever tried and living in San Diego, I've tried most of them. The staff here is unbelievable! From entering the door, you are greeted and seated immediately. The menu is your typical fare, but your portions aren't! Here ..... they're HUGE and you definitely get more than your moneys worth. Food is piping hot when delivered, beer is ice cold and margaritas so good, you would swear they came right out of, well, Puerto Vallarta. I can't say enough good things about this place. Prices are extremely reasonable and I actually wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks if they raised their prices; it would bring them in line with some of the other Mexican Restaurants in the county. I've eaten at Lalo's and Casa Ramos, the other two restaurants in Yreka ........ neither one holds a candle to Puerto Vallarta. I look forward to eating there again in October! Stopping over for the night in Yreka, Mexican food was the go to dinner for us. The chips were hot and the salsa good, but when I opened the bottle of hot sauce on the table, the top of the bottle, underneath the cap part, the bottle was gross and obviously had never been looked at or cleaned. I immediately lost my appetite because I can only assume that if they don't care enough to make sure everything on the table is spotless, then who knows what else....?? read more
