Went back to Puffins for the third time since they reopened. First visit was pretty good! Went back for lunch one day and waited over an hour for our food, things were made wrong and tasted gross. But I thought I'd give them another chance. I went today with my family for Saturday morning breakfast at 6:30 and it was the worst breakfast I've had anywhere. My husband and I both ordered over-easy eggs and sausage. We both got over cooked eggs and cold hard sausage links. It was gross. We told the waiter, who was very sweet, and he requested new eggs and sausage for us. 15 minutes later, now with soggy cold toast and hash browns, we finally get new eggs and they're AGAIN over cooked and now have broken egg shells in them. Our son's scrambled eggs were fine but his homefries were gross, tasted like they were left overs from the day before. Not good! I'm very disappointed. Something like eggs and sausage should be the easiest breakfast. The first visit was delicious. I'm not sure if they changed cooks or what but it's been awful and disgusting and a long wait for food my last two visits. This is a huge change from how their food was before the fire. Came in around 8:30am on a Sunday, didn't have to wait for a table. Service was a bit unattentative, but food was great. Boyfriend had the Latin Eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. I had Hailey's omelet and was surprised by how much I liked it. Home fries are more crispy than most diners, but that's actually the way I prefer it! Would give 5 stars but coffee was just okay and we had to wave down the waitresses a few times. read more

I love prime rib and you can't get it to go anywhere during Coronavirus shutdown. Puffins has it and it's great. The very best prime rib I ever had was in Chicago. 2nd place (and #1 in New England is Fred and Steve's at Twin River casino and #3, New England Steakhouse in Mendon, Mass. Puffins just moved into 3Rd. So sorry, N.E. Steakhouse. Rich, tender, flavorful (despite the fact that it had to travel) and the sides were of the same quality. The outdoor and indoor seating is very cute and quaint. The food is very tasty, but a bit overpriced. Unfortunately the service is extremely slow. We got menus and drinks in adequate time, however after 25 minutes of waiting to get our order taken, I had to go up to the bar and inform a waiter that we hadn't got serviced. After this, the gentleman I spoke to waited on us instead of the original waitress we had. read more

As we were sat, it took roughly 20 minutes for us to get an order in and about additional 30-35 minutes for our food to come out. By the time it came out my eggs and bacon were cold. Went there for lunch a while ago. The service was slow and the steak and cheese sub that my friend ordered didn't have much meat in it. The server asked the cook about it and was told that it had the proper serving or meat. Wouldn't order it again and will think twice about stopping again. read more

Stopped here for a quick breakfast. There were 4 people in the whole place & it took 25 minutes to get a breakfast sandwich! The egg was overlooked, the toast burnt, & the homefries were overcooked deep fried potatoes. Aweful! Honestly the worst breakfast I've ever gotten in a restaurant. Came here recently because it was recommended by a friend. I was totally disappointed by the visit. There were 3 waitresses and only one had her head on that day. They didn't come around asking how our food was or if we wanted more coffee. The food wasn't great but decent portions. I asked one of them for more coffee and she said sure, never came back with coffee. Will never return here. read more

Went here for Sunday breakfast. Our meals were good. Everything else, not so much. We sat and waited over 15 min for our waitress, while 2 tables that sat after us were brought coffee and put in their orders. When it came, the coffee was weak, and not very hot. Our meals seemed to take forever to arrive. While we were waiting our waitress stood at the counter eating rather than checking in with us or refilling our coffee. The floor and empty tabletops were left dirty long after they were vacated. Some of this could be forgiven if it was very busy, but it was not. We will not be returning. read more

The service is awful which is why I need to give one star. My husband and I came into the restaurant 30 minutes prior to closing time. I was 9 months pregnant. 9 months - essentially carrying a newborn baby in my body. None of the servers acknowledged us. Finally I sat my pregnant self down at a dirty table (they hadn't bussed it yet because apparently they stop working prior to closing time). Moments later a server comes up to us, holding the sandwich board sign that is used outside, and asks me to move to she can put the sandwich board behind me. Wow. We left and never went back. I've been going to Puffins for about 4 years...It's sort of like the default breakfast place my boyfriend and I go to. In the past couple of months I have been disappointed in their food. This place is a greasy spoon, local spot but with really good food. I agree with some of the other posts that the service can be a challenge (generally one or two servers on a busy morning) but, once you know that, the experience is great. I actually prefer going here on weekday mornings, when it is STILL packed but slightly more reasonable. They cook to order but be super specific about what you want and don't be afraid to send something back if it is not exactly what you want - they're really good about that. I love their Mexican omelette - super delicious. You won't be pressured to leave, no matter how busy. They give you as much time as you need to relax and enjoy your food. read more

Homemade corned beef hash is to die for! Not a fancy place but everything is delicious. Just what we wanted for brunch!

The food was good and they had a lot of interesting breakfast dishes, but they need to do a better job cleaning their dishes. We sat down at a table with the silverware all set and they were filthy. A waitress comes to the table with two clear glass cofee cups that you can hardly see through from dirt or soap scum. We ask for new silverware and a coffee cup and we hear the waitress digging through the silverware looking for something clean. When she finally gives it to us it is clear she had to use a towell to clean it off. The waitress shows my wife the new coffee cup saying that it is clean but quickly pulls it away as my wife starts looking at it and sees gunk on the inside. Every cup or dish we received that day had some built up film or gunk on it. But the hash and egg dishes were good. A real greasy spoon. read more

I've been going here for years and it is a top notch place to go for breakfast. My kids love it as its kid friendly and the staff have always been attentive and patient. Parking can sometimes be an issue as the lot can get congested and there is usually a short wait on the weekends. read more

Puffins has been our go to brunch place for the past 8 years, and the staff knows us when we walk in. The food is consistently good and creative, and the price for the portions is very reasonable. "Ummm.. I'm a Yelp reviewer..." - Cartman I drive by this place often and I always see it full of cars. My girlfriend and I wanted to try it out this morning (Wednesday morning). The place was fairly empty. We were promptly greeted by the waitress and were given coffee. We didnt even open the menu before we found what we wanted. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my girlfriend the Eggs Irish (eggs benedict with Cornbeef hash instead of ham) Both were DELIGHTFUL! I will definitely go again. read more

Everyone is so incredibly nice and are on top of your every want and need. We were excited to go back to Puffins for the first time since they reopened. We were impressed by the way it looked. They did a great job with the rebuild after the fire. Now for the experience and food...Pretty disappointing. When we were first seated at 11:00am, and given a table set up and glasses of water, my husbands water glass was clearly dirty with some kind of sauce on the glass. Inside or outside we couldn't tell, and promptly requested a replacement. The replacement that was brought out was another dirty glass. We asked for another. Finally a clean glass. Their dishwasher must need some additional training. When we ordered our food we were advised they were out of what we were ordering. So we took a few more minutes to choose something else. Once our order was placed, it was approximately 30 minutes till the food arrived. No water refills offered. Hubby ordered a BLTE sandwich. I ordered the Benedict crab cakes. I received regular Eggs Benedict. Additionally, it's never a good sign when you see frozen style hasbrowns. I waited 5 minutes to get the attention of a server, and then went to find our server. Asked her to come to us at her earliest convenience. She came quickly, and I advised I received the wrong meal. She checked her system and said she mistakenly put it in for the wrong item and she would get a corrected meal for me, and comp my meal as it was her error. I appreciated that. I advised I didn't want to wait another 20-30 minutes for a replacement. She said I could go ahead and eat, and she would bring crab cakes when ready. I ate 1 of the eggs, and then she arrived with the crab cakes saying she grabbed an order for me. The crab cakes also appeared to be a frozen style. Then when she brought the bill, it was full bill. She thought that since we were only being charged for Eggs Benedict (cheaper menu item) instead of Benedict crab cakes that we'd be fine. But I think my face said different because she immediately offered to remove it altogether. I did appreciate her politeness, which is why I gave a 2nd star, but the overall experience was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Hubs said he would not be interested to return. I think I will give it 1 more try and then decide. But I would not order anything with hash browns or crab cakes. I don't care to be served frozen foods at restaurants. Maybe just a simple pancakes and eggs next try. read more

The staff here is really nice. They gave us plenty of time to decide on our orders even though it took us forever! We were here for breakfast and it was delicious. The only problem I had was that the home fries are a bit bland. Most home fries come with onions and or peppers but this establishment doesn't add those. My family and I love this place. Love local Mom and pop breakfast places, and this place is so sweet to our kids. Servers very attentive. Went out to breakfast for the first time since Covid hit. Had a real difficult experience at Puffin's. The waitress got our coffee and juice and forgot to come back to take our order. We tried to get her attention unsuccessfully and then we watched her wait on a party of 6 and come back and take their order. My wife and I finally got her attention and she apologized, she had thought she had already taken our order. We ordered and watched the party of 6 get their food before us. Our food final came out and my egg sandwich did not have any bacon on it, which the waitress got right, but the kitchen did not. Well away went my Sandwich and she came back with a new one, which was not necessary, she could have brought me over a side of bacon. The sandwich she brought me had 1 slice of bacon on it. After 11/2 hours We left, it was the most painful breakfast I ever experienced. So if you go to Puffin's do not be in a hurry. read more

I love this place. My boyfriend and I go here for breakfast on weekends whenever we get a chance. Its a small little informal breakfast place that has that hole in the wall, country charm. The homemade corned beef hash is my favorite and the Irish eggs benedict is awesome bc it comes with the hash on it instead of ham. Their other specials are good also. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is bc their homefries are not home made and kind of boring. They are not bad, but since everything else is so good they dont stack up. read more
