All I have to say is Caramel Pecan Waffle and homemade corned beef hash. Ok I guess I have more to say.... Very local diner where everybody knows your name. Plenty of parking and seating. Great space with very nice waitresses efficiently taking orders and refilling coffee mugs. Uniquely named omelettes. But I fell in love with the waffle selection. Belgian waffle with pecans and a caramel sauce that was sweet and succulent. Didn't need syrup. Just my appetite. Side of house made corned beef hash to round it out. Left there satiated and content. So glad my buddy lives in the area that allowed me to check out this hidden gem. They do lunch as well. I'll be back for sure! read more

Had 10:30 reservation Sunday morning we were seated promptly but that's where the promptness ended. Some time went by and a gentleman came to take our coffee order, delivered the coffee no utensils or napkins so waited again. He returned to take our order all 4 of us ordered specialty cocktails. Our food arrived but no cocktail, eventually 3 cocktails arrived still missing 1. Halfway through the meal 4th arrived after asking about it multiple times. Why do so many people wait to get ok food that you have a 50/50 chance of actually getting what you ordered? The person at the door took my name and phone number and told me there was a 20-minute wait for a 2-person table. No problem. But when I came back in 20 min later to check, she called "Laura party of 2" and the person who put in a name BEHIND ME walked up. When I questioned this, she ignored me. Then, when I asked again, she looked at her scribbled list and said, "Oh, there you are and Laura is in front of you," and I pointed out that Laura was also after me. Never asked for a phone number or called the phone number for the Laura she seated. What a mess. You are lucky to get subpar service and even luckier if they get half of what you order right. Puffin is by far the best brunch location I've been to! they recently renovated the building, and it is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is welcoming and the food is aesthetically pleasing as well as delicious. We sat for 10+ minutes and were ignored by the one server in the area who was walking around, and occasionally was seating guests at other tables. He never looked our way as we tried to signal him we were ready to order.... This can be a busy spot but it was not busy at this time. I was presently working in the Millbury area and was waiting on tech support to call back. When I asked the store manager for the best breakfast place, he directed to Puffin's restaurant just a little further down the road. The restaurant is small. Drive slow or else you will miss it. Plenty of room for parking. The exterior has a nice small town look. The inside is cute with tables and a large counter that can accommodate more people than any breakfast place that I have been to so far. The waitresses were so accommodating and nice no matter how needy you can be. I ordered the regular breakfast: 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and ham. It was delicious. The coffee was made correctly: honey and half-and-half. I like the fact that the honey was not in a packet but a bottle. She told me to tase it before she added more. This what I find amazing. Everybody is in a rush and don't seem to care or take pride in the product or service they provide so it made my day! We've been to Puffin's many times and are never disappointed with the food and service. This week we, unfortunately, had to plan for a funeral and feeding the family after services. We contacted Puffin's to see if they could so some sandwich platters and chicken tenders and they did not disappoint! The sandwiches were fantastic. The tenders were hot and were a hit with the adults and kids. We are so happy to support this wonderful local business who made our week a bit easier. read more

Went here with my 2 sisters for one of their birthday lunches as we are town residents and know it's a good little spot. Unfortunately, this visit was absolutely awful in terms of both service and food quality which is very unlike our past experiences. To start, we were seated quickly but did not receive any service for over 20 minutes. (the restaurant was not busy by any means at this time) This is when Tammy came over and asked if we were ready to put drinks in to which we replied yes we're ready for everything. After putting in our order it took an additional 15 ish minutes to receive our drinks. Appetizers came out first which is about the only positive thing from this experience. When we received our food, my sister found a hair in her sandwich. We placed the uneaten sandwich at the end of the table hoping Tammy would come over and check in. She did not. She came over about 20 minutes later asking if we needed boxes with the check in hand. We showed her the hair and she said "who's hair is that?". I don't know Tammy, you tell me it's from your kitchen! My sister ended up leaving a note on a napkin expressing her disappointment in the service. Tammy saw her doing this and began chirping us as we were walking out the door telling us to say it to her face. Maybe we would have expressed our concerns "to her face" if she ever came back to our table. Needless to say this was a very dissatisfying experience and leaves a nasty taste in my mouth for how this establishment is being run these days. read more

We have been long time and frequent customers of this restaurant which is why it pains me to leave such a review, but when you apparently no longer care about your customers then perhaps it's time to find a new business. We were seated right by the door where on an unseasonably cold morning we were exposed to a constant cold draft throughout our time there. (To be fair, we could have asked to be seated elsewhere but at the time we were not expecting to be spending the next two hours having breakfast.) Initially it appeared to somewhat busy and with only one waitperson covering the entire room. Once seated we were not given a menu but asked for our drink order, which we gave. I received my coffee fairly quickly but my husband ordered a cocktail and waited a good 15 minutes before receiving it and only after repeated asking. We were then asked for our order even though we hadn't yet seen a menu (and even though we have been here many times and are familiar with the menu there are daily specials and seasonal options from which to choose.) As mentioned it appeared somewhat busy yet our waitperson managed to find time to hold a customer''s baby, show said baby off to other staff and otherwise socialize all while we waited. She even commented that we would have to wait because she needed to see the baby. We eventually ordered then proceeded to watch as at least 3 other tables were seated, ordered, and received their food while we were still waiting for ours. Finally after about 45 minutes we were told by our waitperson that our order somehow "didn't go through". She took our order a second time. When our food finally arrived, some of it was not what we ordered and we had to wait even longer to receive the rest of our order. I had ordered only 2 scrambled eggs and a blueberry muffin and instead received a blueberry muffin and some home fries and my husband ordered an omelette but was missing the salsa and sour cream he had requested. Hardly a complicated order. The owner actually brought our food and I informed her we had literally been waiting for an hour and now our order was wrong. She mustered an "I'm sorry", but didn't seem overly concerned and no effort was made to credit us for any part of our meal or otherwise compensate us for what was clearly a horrid dining experience by any standards. Our waitperson never returned to ask if we needed anything else and was clearly upset because we had complained to the owner. Not that it should matter, but as someone who has an end stage cancer, I consider my time to be quite precious and try to spend it as wisely as possible. Not to be overly dramatic, but the 90 plus minutes spent at this restaurant left me feeling completely unimportant and unappreciated as a customer and as a human being. read more

When we finally snagged two seats at the bar area, the staff promptly apologized for the wait (like it's their fault!) and got us coffees, and a bloody mary for the hubby, Did I mention there is a full bar? If I weren't very pregnant with twins, I'd have the apple cider mimosa they had on special!!! Just a couple more months to go :) Anyway, the menu was large. I was so hungry, I went with a safe Florida Omelette. Mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, and cheese (pretty sure it was American), with a blend of spices. Home fries and rye toast. He got an egg and cheese on an everything bagel with home fries. Omelette was large and fresh. My only gripe with it was the spice blend. It was very salty, not a bland of herbs and spices like I had imagined. The home fries were nice and crispy, which is how I love them. Toast was meh. I think I've been spoiled with thick rye toast from another establishment. But I was happy they had rye, don't get me wrong! He loved his bagel sandwich. Other than the salt content in my omelette, everything was great. They just need a little help with seating. It's kind of a free for all, and a little disorganized. No one knows who was there first. Mark your territory by the door, and enjoy a great breakfast and an unbeatable price! 2 huge plates, 2 coffees with refills, a bloody mary, and a beer only ran us $27 + a generous tip for the awesome service we had. My two sisters and I decided to stop into puffins for my birthday lunch, we were immediately sat (for the first ever.), but then waited nearly 25 minutes to put in drinks. When our server Tammy finally came to our table with our chowder (which was unseasoned and honestly tasted like warm cream) and pickle chips we asked for water and didn't get them for 15 minutes. Lunch finally came out everything looked good but one of my sisters tuna melt was cold and my chicken blt had a piece of hair in it. I placed my uneaten sandwich at the end of the table and our server did not come back for another 15 minutes. When she came over she asked if we wanted boxes to which we said no, pointed out the hair and received the check. A different woman came over and cashed us out, she was very kind and TIMELY. I decided to leave a note on the table since our server Tammy hadn't come over to us again and as we were leaving she began chirping at us in front of many other customers. Passing through Milbury and need to grab some lunch , so my wife and I stopped into place. Friendly staff was very attentive to make sure we always had hot coffee in our cups. My wife and I enjoyed the omletes we ordered. I has an Irish Omlet which was stuffed full of corn beef and potatoes. Breakfast also included a side dish of home fries and toast. We were more interested in coffee this day. However Puffins has a full liquor license and some were enjoying Bloody Marys with there breakfast. What a downer. We love our Sunday brunch and lunches. Our friends suggest we go here because they have the best bloody Mary's so we changed up our usual routine. We made a reservation, there were seven of us, we arrived on time to be told our table wasn't ready. 30min later we were finally seated. Drinks took a bit longer than expected to come out. The bloody Mary's were so spicy it was almost intolerable. So much horseradish that it was pulpy, clogging the straw and my taste buds were on fire. Switched to a soda which was flat. When ordering they didn't have half of the things we requested and told us that the printed paper menus weren't updated. Ended up on the sirloin steak and a bacon cheese burger. Steak was pan fried, very thin, dry, overcooked and unseasoned. Burger didn't come with any of the fixings mentioned on the menu and was dry, bacon was tooth chipping. While we can't speak for our friends there were five plates that had a full meal still on them when our server came to grab our plates. Chicken and Waffles was a chicken tender, not a fried piece of chicken, tuna melt was crumbly and dry....Server was a nice girl clearly trying to go by the book, maybe new, but couldn't answer any of our question about the menu, didn't ask how our food was or why no one had eaten their meals. Overall it just wasn't worthy of our Sunday and we wished we had stuck to our normal favorite spot. I understand things are looking different for restaurants right now and they are working hard to make big changes BUT the food was terrible. This in our favorite breakfast place! We had been going to puffins prior to the complete rebuilding. We went back today for the first time and it was just as amazing as we expected. The staff was extremely friendly and we had quick service. The food was amazing. During the rebuilding we had tried to go other places but nothing compared. Puffins omelettes are so good and I don't typically care for an omelette. They are fluffy and fresh. I love that the food has great flavor and is not to heavy or greasy. Their home made hash is one of the best. Everything is good, the pancakes, the French toast etc. We want to try it for lunch sometime. We love the food here. A very detailed and extensive menu. 3 stars are the service is no where near as good as the food. Over the summer we sat at the outside patio and the service was excellent. I believe our server was Nate and he was attentive and courteous. Today our server was Ashley. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant and offered a booth. We sat and ordered coffee and water. The booth was not prepped, no silverware or cream for the coffee. We waited and waited for Ashley to return, when she did we asked for the missing items and again we waited and waited. Eventually we ordered our food and again waited and waited for it to be brought to our table. We asked for additional syrup for our waffle and again waited. We had just about finished our meal when the ever elusive Ashley finally arrived with the syrup. We went in for breakfast and ordered our food. Only a handful of tables in the restaurant including the deck. Took a good amount of time for the food. We ordered an omelette and a kid pancake and pina colada pancakes. Both sets of pancakes were VERY well done to the point were the knife wouldn't even cut them. Pancakes are suppose to be fluffy. I had to tear my 1 yr old son's pancake to serve it to him. My pina colada pancakes had a pinch of coconut on them and 4 pieces of very small diced pineapple. I would have asked for another set if I knew it wouldn't take 20 minutes to get them. Also, my fear would be waiting for another set and have them be just as burnt/ well done. I stopped going to this establishment before there fire because time and food. I was hoping it was going to be better this time around l, but I guess I was wrong. I have been wanting to stop for breakfast since they reopened. This morning I was able to stop since there was plenty of parking. I sat at the counter, it was busy but not crowded at 10:40am. It took a few minutes for me to decide what to order, I was offered a drink and ordered coffee. The guy behind the counter/bar was busy making cocktails for the waitresses. He was so busy doing that he didn't refill my coffee, after 30 minutes of waiting for my food I asked where it was, he didnt know or offer any apology so I left. When i Ieft there were several people waiting to be seated. I am so disappointed, and will not be back. Either be a bartender or a waiter. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! I've eaten here numerous times and it's usually pretty good. First, my bacon had hair on it. Then my niece had a black eyelash or arm hair in her fruit, and then my daughter had a long piece of black hair on her plate. 3 out of 4 meals had a piece of hair in it!! I ignored the 1st piece of hair but needed to say something after the third. Our server mentioned it to the Owner/Manager. The Manager DID NOT come over and apologize, did not take off even 1 of the 3 meals after our appetites were ruined. I'm more aggravated that she ignored the issue and didn't even bother to speak to us. I will NEVER eat here again because of the way the issue was ignored! None of the specials I've had ("specials" , by the way, are just a section of the regular menu and not actually items that change on a regular basis) have been so great, but it's fine if you stick to the basics. It was busy on Sunday at 11am so we sat at the counter. Writing a review for their catering services and restaurant experience. We had Puffins cater our daughter's wedding. The service, food, attention to detail, help and support was beyond measure. The food here is pretty tasty -- I very much enjoyed the Hunk-A-Burnin'-Love pancakes and my husband really liked the German omelet. My pancakes did my come with the prescribed bananas, as the restaurant was out of bananas, but they were still delish. One final criticism: the floor needed to be vacuumed. Just stopped here for breakfast and sat at the bar area. It's a cute little breakfast joint and the food is delicious. I ordered the homemade corned beef hash with eggs homefries and toast. Everything was fantastic especially the homemade corned beef hash. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin with eggs, homefries and toast with a side of the corned beef hash and he reported that his food was also great. Seating, ordering, food delivery and check were all done promptly. The waitresses were all friendly and checked up often.
