Went out to breakfast for the first time since Covid hit. Had a real difficult experience at Puffin's. The waitress got our coffee and juice and forgot to come back to take our order. We tried to get her attention unsuccessfully and then we watched her wait on a party of 6 and come back and take their order. My wife and I finally got her attention and she apologized, she had thought she had already taken our order. We ordered and watched the party of 6 get their food before us. Our food final came out and my egg sandwich did not have any bacon on it, which the waitress got right, but the kitchen did not. Well away went my Sandwich and she came back with a new one, which was not necessary, she could have brought me over a side of bacon. The sandwich she brought me had 1 slice of bacon on it. After 11/2 hours We left, it was the most painful breakfast I ever experienced. So if you go to Puffin's do not be in a hurry. read more

Google "breakfast places around Millbury MA" before pulling into Puffins driveway. Or, so you're not using your phone and driving, pull into Puffins driveway and then Google the above. Pick any other breakfast joint within a few miles and drive there. No matter what it is, it will be far, far better than what you would get if you went to Puffins. It's dirty, crowded, they favor the regulars first so if you're not one of them, be prepared. The staff is rude and the customer service is all around terrible. They also seem to not like children so if you're looking to take the kiddos out for breakfast, anything would be better than here. We tried it a few times. Each time thinking "maybe they just had a busy or off day". Not the case. Each time, we had well over a 30 min wait for our food. Things were wrong, forgotten and cold. We watched multiple other patrons come in, be seated and get served their breakfast while still waiting for ours. Come to find out, those were the regulars. Then if you're thinking of asking the wait staff to bring you more of something or tell them that something is wrong, be prepared to get the evil eyes and much, much slower service. If you go here, it's best to just walk in, sit down, order your food, wait as long as it takes (don't say a word and keep your hands folded on the table with a big smile on your face) get your meal, eat it all (even if its someone elses meal and not close to what you ordered), pay your tab (leave no tip because if there was ever any place where wait staff did not deserve tips, this is it) and get the hell outta there. Just get in your car and drive. Don't look back. Don't worry about them chasing you out for not leaving a tip. Odd's are you've probably arrived home by the time they noticed you were not actually occupying one of the booths anymore. Odds are there are new unsuspecting patrons sitting at that dirty table because no one acknowledged them when they came in so they took upon themselves to sit down at a table thats been dirty now for at least 30 min. We were looking for breakfast on our way through Millbury. One word. Horrible. Sticky table. They gave us coffee, took our order and dropped off the food. The staff never stopped by after in between. Meanwhile, the woman at the bar shot the breeze with a regular sitting by the register. Pancakes and bacon seemed microwaved. No refills on our coffees despite several requests. Absolutely horrid experience! We went out to breakfast for Fathers Day with my fiancé and our two small children. We had to wait for a table to fit us while it was being wiped and moved. We sat and ordered drinks. When the coffees came, the cups were filthy. We then ordered our food. It took thirty minutes for out food to come out while the only other new party received their food in less than ten. No one came to make sure we had everything we needed, the pancakes were like rubber, the bacon was precooked brown and serve, and the hollandaise on the eggs beni was a cheese sauce. I would wait no longer for our server and went up to the bar to ask for condiments, our server looked at me and then went back to counting her tips. When we had finished I scrapped and stacked our plates and they sat there for ten minutes before someone finally came over with the check. I had been coming here for years and the service and food quality has plummeted in the last few. This will be our last time. read more

I've been to Puffin's twice, a few weeks ago (Feb 2014) and Oct (2013). Both times, the two ladies behind the counter spent their time talking with the regulars. Because I was not a regular, I was not paid attention to. I waited 15 minutes just to get the check paid. I would think Puffins would pay attention to these Yelp reviews, the complaints I have are very common for Puffins. The ladies there just don't seem to want to work there at all. read more

Honestly, it's experiences like last weekend that make me overjoyed that there is a forum 'for the people - by he people' such as Yelp! I couldn't wait to post this review. We recently moved to the area and have eaten breakfast here 4 times mainly because it was the only place we knew. The first 2 times, the food was meh and the service terrible but I let my emotions get the best of me because of the photo of the deceased mother on the wall. The third time was alright with explicit cooking instructions. Last weekend, my husband and I and our 11 month old son went in for breakfast. We grabbed a table in the corner, secured the highchair ourselves and waited for someone to acknowledge our existence. 10 minutes in, milk sitting in mug waiting for a splash of much needed coffee, son impatiently squirming in seat eating his dry puffs but waiting for pancakes.... no dice. Now, it's the weekend and they are busy - we get it - really - but a simple 'be with you ASAP' would suffice. but no. One girl chatting with customers. One guy who originally was walking around with a pot of coffee when we walked in was standing behind the counter doing nothing but clearly knew we were present. One woman pulling up her shit brand bedazzled 'i'm 50 but like to dress like a 'jenny from the block' jeans. We tried Puffins to day around 11am when it was not that busy and we should have known by the cigarette butts and weeds at the front door it was not going to be a good experience. Being our first time, we walked in a stood at the door for a moment for the waitress who was wiping a table next to the door to greet us, but she did not. She walked by to wipe another table, so we wandered up to the counter or bar and sat at the corner waiting for the waitress behind the counter to greet us, but she did not??? After a few minutes she stopped chatting and asked us if we wanted coffee, I told her it was our first time and did not know the rules where to sit. She missed the opportunity to greet us and tell us about the restaurant, but instead just said sit wherever you want. With the choice of the waitress who ignored us when we walked in or the counter we sat at the counter. The waitress gave us the menu and coffee without offering her name or any instructions of specials or food suggestions. Looking around, the floor was dirty and there were dust bunnies hanging from the ceiling and the counter was unusually wide that made it difficult to reach the sugar and creamers on the far side. We ordered omelets that were over cooked and greasy, I got the Popeye and it came with 1 piece of spinach, a ton of grilled onions and a blob of cheddar in one corner. It said it had bacon, but that was hard to find and Popeye would have lost the battle eating that omelet. Very disappointed since there is a lack of breakfast diners in Millbury but Puffins is for the birds and we'll make the trip to Worcester or Grafton in the future. read more

Absolutely love this little breakfast place! My husband and I have frequented it on and off for the last four years we've lived in Millbury. I love the pile of french toast, hunk a burning love pancakes, and the king fisher breakfast. My husband swears by the eggs florentine. I actually find the waitresses more than attentive, more like down right sweet hearts! My coffee is always refilled promptly and I've never waited longer than 15 minutes max to receive my food. I found a lot of the reviews on this Yelp completely inaccurate. Please give this small business a try and ignore some of the poor reviews on this page! read more

They do breakfast very well. Almost too many choices! With about 5 variations of eggs Benedict this is my new favorite spot!

We went for the first time to Puffin's today for breakfast. We could not have been more disappointed. The food was nothing short of absolutely disgusting. We ordered the "popeye omelette" with home fries and the "Irish breakfast" with hash browns. Both dishes had ZERO seasoning. The bacon inside the popeye omelette was almost raw, completely rubbery and inedible. There was spinach inside the omelette that clearly hadn't been washed. The omelette itself honestly tasted like nothing but dirt, and I couldn't eat a single bite after spitting the first bite out. The home fries were burnt and bland (read: no seasoning, not even salt and pepper). This was so disappointing. The Irish breakfasts eggs were supposed to be poached (meaning a runny yolk inside) but the insides were cooked through, forming a jelly-like substance. The pancakes, once again, had NO flavor, and were both dry and burnt. Even doused with butter and syrup, they were terrible. Who is the cook at this place?! Is he/she disgruntled?! Sadly, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. So disappointing! Also.. $25 for 2 people to have breakfast? No coffee and no beverages?! This is the WORST breakfast I have ever had. Went to Puffin's for the first time on Sunday. Servers were good., atmosphere was friendly. The food however was bland, TASTELESS, and the side order of bacon was over cooked and we got four tiny half pieces. Also the place needs a cleaning especially the plates and silverware. The breakfast is typically good although not sure why they offer canned hash when their home made is awesome. Service on Sunday is always iffy. We went there for dinner last night and it wasn't busy. One waitress was too young to serve us but the adult knew we were there. She proceeded to wait on three tables who came in after us and after 10 minutes if waiting we left. Visiting from Texas for a loss in the family, I wasn't sure where to eat breakfast, so I called my son who is local to Millbury and he suggested Puffin's. From the outside it appeared to be a very small mom and pop type of restaurant and I figured it must be just for locals. Man, I'm very happy that I made the effort to stop. The food was Excellent, the quantity for the price was fabulous and the service was great albeit a little slow due to the size of the staff and amount of patrons. Before leaving Mass. I stopped off again prior to leaving town to see if there was a change based on the day or time of week, and I was surprised that the food and service was consistent. I couldn't finish the meal due to the quantity of hash browns and eggs. The coffee was delicious and I would highly recommend Puffin's, as the truly serve a Texas sized meal. read more

This was one of the worst establishments that I've been to in regards to customer service. I have a soft spot for the food & beverage industry being in it myself for over 11 years, but this experience was despicable. My friends and I stopped in to have a nice breakfast and although the food was decent, it felt like nobody gave a crap about us. When we first got to Puffins, we sat ourselves and we were promptly greeted. There were 4 of us but only 2 menus provided, so we ended up sharing menus until about 10 minutes later when one of the waitresses brought us a couple more (by that point, we all knew what we wanted). We placed our order with a completely different server and the food came rather quickly. When my fiancé got his food (he ordered the Irish Breakfast, NO hollandaise sauce), it came smothered with the hollandaise. This was comical because he just had a conversation with the server who took our order that he had no idea what hollandaise sauce was and that he'd prefer not to have it. Again, being in the service industry, I have a soft spot for servers and we're all human and make mistakes. This would be totally fine if our waitress ever came back to the table to check in - but she didn't. My fiancé was so hungry he simply scraped off the hollandaise and ate as much as he could. Anyone who would see his plate would know that he disliked the hollandaise & maybe our server would've too (if she ever came back to check). The only time we saw our server was when we sat down and ordered our drinks and when we ordered our food - there was no opportunity to inform our server that there was an issue. No one ever came to check in on us to see if everything came out ok, no one came to refill our drinks (coffee, water) which were empty the ENTIRE TIME. We had to eventually call over one of the servers to request a glass of milk and when she came back she didn't even acknowledge the fact the rest of us wanted a refill on coffee & water. We had to ask AGAIN to please refill our coffee. She seemed very aggravated like we were an inconvenience to her. The only other time we saw her was when she was dropping off the bill. This was Sunday morning and although the restaurant was pretty full, we'd glance over and the servers would be chatting with one another, so to me, that's just simply rude. I'd be more understanding if they were catering to other tables and working. When you go out to eat, you expect some sort of customer service. I wouldn't of even wrote this review if she even came over ONCE to check on us. We were probably one of her largest bills at the time of our visit so you'd think she'd care a little more. We still left her a 25% tip on our bill, but it truly was NOT deserved. I'd suggest you re-evaluate your team's service skills and let them know that good food is not the only thing that you need to have to keep people coming back - it needs to be paired with friendly customer service. read more

Great little breakfast place! We stumbled upon it after leaving another nearby restaurant because the service was so horrible. The food was excellent (pancakes were huge and fluffy and the egg sandwich was delish with lots of crisp bacon) and the service was top notch. Definately will return, and recommend! read more
