It's a big air conditioned space, and it was comfortable to browse even in the hot summer months. Would recommend swinging by if you're in the area. Most paperbacks of old titles were $5 from what I saw, some more popular ones edging up to 7 or 8, so it's all reasonably priced.

Loved the special deals they offered that day and having the chance to listen to a few bands over the course of the day (and get some merch signed!). I think their old store was better for listening, since there was a clear area for the audience--in the current store, we were tucked between shelves of merchandise--but it still worked and we had no problem seeing or hearing the bands. I particularly enjoyed seeing Violet Grohl and her band that day. Dave Grohl was there, but as a member of the audience. It was fun rocking out with him to his daughter's tunes (even if he was a couple of rows away). Love the staff. Rand, one of the owners, in particular, is incredibly knowledgeable. He also does a great job of lining up events and bands. We had such a great day at Fingerprints!

I've attended countless signings and performances, and I buy a vinyl there almost every month to keep growing my collection. As an LA native, I grew up going to the original Amoeba in Hollywood and continued shopping there after they moved to their current Hollywood Blvd location. I've always appreciated the events they host, and when I moved to LB, Fingerprints felt like LB's version of Amoeba because of its incredible lineup of signings and performances. Since moving to their new Bixby Knolls location, the event experience has taken a step backward. The new space isn't designed to accommodate the crowds these events attract. They proudly increase the vinyl prices for these events to pay for staffing these events while admission continues to be oversold. The result is an experience that feels more focused on maximizing attendance than ensuring fans can actually enjoy the event. I attended the Charli XCX Q&A yesterday, and the stage was so low that I couldn't see anything. Within two minutes of the event starting, I requested a refund because the room was clearly over capacity. Unless you were around 5'6" or taller, the only way to see Charli was through other people's phone screens. When I asked for a refund, the employee handing out vinyl records told me, "Well, it's a Q&A. The whole point is to listen." I respectfully disagreed. Seeing the artist is part of the experience, especially at an in-person event, but my refund request was denied. Even if the focus was solely on listening, the experience still fell short. Employee phone notifications were constantly going off and the front door opened every few minutes as employees loudly turned away customers because it was a private event, and outside street noise frequently overpowered the conversation. At times, I could hear phone notifications and traffic more clearly than Charli herself. I think Fingerprints hosts some of the best artist events and I want to see them succeed in their new location. The event setup needs to improve- a raised stage, better crowd management, clearer policies on phone usage, and limiting attendance to what the space can comfortably accommodate would go a long way toward creating an experience that matches the quality of the artists they bring in.

There is definitely the appearance of organization here. Biography is labeled in this section, military is over here, mystery over there, and so on. But while you probably will find some Agatha Christie in the mystery section, which makes sense, you will probably also find some Christie over in fiction. It is the same with other authors. I don't know if this is the store's doing or whether customers are shifting books around intentionally or otherwise but it is a little maddening at times. Most serious book hunters, especially those found rummaging through dusty used bookstores like yours truly, don't mind spending extra time looking for books. The hunt is part of the fun. They have some real gold nuggets here, if you spend the time. Also, speaking of gold nuggets, although Western is probably not the most popular genre these days, the Western section here is one of the larger ones I have ever seen. This store is well worth a visit. I found nearly all the prices to be extremely reasonable. Free and easy street parking all around. The counter fellow, who may have been the owner for all I know, was a real character and very pleasant.

The store is bigger than it looks. You will need to spend some time here digging for the nuggets.

By far, it's one of the most beautiful bookstores I've been to! A giant floral arrangement greets you the moment you walk in. The space lets in plenty of soft, bright light and there are cognac-colored armchairs spread throughout where you can pick up a book and read awhile. Even the counter says "words are magic," and I tend to agree! Layout-wise, new releases and vinyls are found toward the front, then fiction on the right, fantasy, kids in the middle/back, games and puzzles left/back, and gifts and journals front left next to the registers. There is no cafe at this location (although there is at the B&N Towne Center). I had a pleasant experience, albeit brief, with the associate who helped ring me up. Of course, B&N is retail pricing so items aren't necessarily cheaper, but I'm newly signed up to their membership and sometimes the 10% discount that fetches you comes out to be a little less expensive (e.g. Blackwing pencils, Rifle Paper). Plus, they often run promotions for rewards members, both free and paid, such as journals earning extra stamps during the second half of January. So keep an eye out for those deals!

The store offers a large selection of books, with many titles covering the same genres but from varying perspectives, writing styles, and approaches. I visited with a specific purpose: to browse the spirituality, tarot, oracle, and divination section. While exploring the store, I also wandered through other departments to see if anything else caught my interest. Fortunately, I came across several items that I added to my mental list for a future purchase. However, the section I had originally come to see offered fewer choices than expected. This was both disappointing and surprising, as I have typically found a much wider variety of these subjects at other Barnes & Noble locations. Of course, I understand that each store's inventory varies. Unfortunately, my interactions with the staff significantly diminished the overall experience. Finally, while checking out, I had another unpleasant interaction. The cashier made an unnecessary comment about the email address I provided, referring to it as "trash," or making a similarly negative remark. Regardless of the exact wording, the comment felt inappropriate, unprofessional, and entirely unrelated to completing my purchase. The overall price range is costly, the value is to be determined. Overall, the store itself is enjoyable to browse and offers a pleasant shopping environment. However, my experience with multiple employees left a lasting negative impression. If customer service and respectful interactions are important to you, this location may not meet your expectations. If you're simply interested in browsing the books and merchandise, your experience may depend largely on the staff you encounter that day.

The manager of the store told the line was only for Pokemon and that people who wanted needohs could go ahead to the back of the store. So the moms with the kids that wanted needohs headed towards the back just for needohs instead of waiting in line like the rest of us for Pokemon cards. We were let in 5 at a time and when it was my turn to go get the Pokemon cards, I was told by the people in the front that the moms that went to get needohs also went to get the first partner series 3 boxes! There was nothing left and I waited within the hour for no reason! I notified the manager of the incident of what transpired but he was like there's nothing I can do! Well look here buddy you could have left the Pokemon cards at customer service like you did in the past so there would be no cutting in lines but nope your store had to implement this stupid policy where anyone could walk into the back to get cards without having to wait in line! Do better at the next Pokemon release day drop or else you're going to have more angry customers at the next drop!

The staff at Pulp Fiction were very friendly and helpful to me from my start (in summer 2018) as a brand new comics reader coming in to buy a couple of comics a couple of times a month. They got me all set up, and answered all my "newbie" questions. Now I know Ryan, Mike, and Annie by name, and they have even more knowledge and assistance to offer as my reading list has grown into purchasing a stack of new comics every Wednesday. They have a great subscription service through Pullbox, which makes it really easy to order/reserve copies of exactly the titles and particular covers I'm interested in. And they take the time to help me with availability and pricing for the variant covers I have come to enjoy collecting. In addition to single comics, new trades and omnibus books are always discounted from cover price. And they have a constantly flowing inventory of $1 back issues and under-$5 used books - unexpected finds, and a super affordable way to explore some comics/books that look intriguing, and see which ones turn out to be faves. Aside from all of this, they've just created a very welcoming environment where staff and customers alike are spending time conversing and enthusing about the stories and characters we enjoy. In my opinion the best comic book shop in LA, which is no small statement- they have great deals on graphic novels and are stocked with cool stuff you can't find elsewhere. Also the staff is very nice and helpful (and not socially inept) which I have found is kind of rare in some other SoCal comic book stores. Granted, if you are more into getting the monthly paperback serialized comics, manga, or comics-related paraphernalia then this is not necessarily your store- it is smaller and focuses on having ridiculously good deals on graphic novels/larger volumes/complete editions of stuff, but if that's what you're into then this most definitely IS your store (prices are worth making the commute from any other part of LA, with 20% base discount off of graphic novels, and discounts getting bigger for various publishers such as dark horse). If you are looking for something specific just ask someone who is working there because it can be a little hard to navigate at times, but it is still fun and easy to browse. Also remember to bring cash to pay with because that saves you even more money! read more

I think I was the first customer at this store back when they were near Boeing. Now they are near CSULB. Three other stores in the area shut down or moved, but this place is standing. The employees are nice and having a pull service helps. I'm guilty of sometimes not going for a few months, but a quick email and they will hold your stuff. Trades are 40% off and there's always a discount bin. I have not been to the Culver City location (where Mike is most of the time) so can't compare the two. They are closed Tuesdays but stay till 8 pm Wednesdays. Would recommend. read more

My favorite comic shop in Long Beach! Whenever I'm in town I'm sure to swing by and always leave with a stack of comic hardcovers. They have the best selection, and deals in the LA area. You can't get better deals than you do at this shop. The staff is always very nice, knowledgeable and looking to bend over backward to make you happy. We are on vacation and were prepared to spend $200 my son had saved for the comic store. After an hour long trip to get to the store I was accosted by a short fat bald guy who was extremely rude. We left and went to Comicaze in San Diego rather than doing business with this store. If this little man is the owner he needs a class in people skills. If he is an employee he needs to be fired because of his poor customer service. What a disappointment! I would give negative stars if I could. read more

Love this store! The folks working here, Ryan, Annie, and Mike are knowledgeable and friendly. They are always trying new things and often have community events. They have a great selection of books, and lots of dollar bins if you enjoy the treasure hunt. Good selection of trade paperbacks and prestige format books too. I went to check this comic book store out and I am a 16 year old kid who drove 6 miles just to get there only to be them tell me to my face "you need an adult to enter". Lo and behold, Omnibuses were announced and released for Dawn of X, etc. Can't sing this place's praises enough. Joe has an expansive knowledge of books new and old, and never makes you feel unwelcome.

I don't really get the hype here. This shop has a lot of modern comics, and it's somewhat…read moreorganized, but it's so incredibly cramped and tight inside that it's hard to really shop it too deeply. If there had been one other person in the shop, I wouldn't have been able to turn around. It feels overly cluttered, or even claustrophobic. The employee working was really friendly, and knew the inventory fairly well, though they didn't end up having anything i needed. This shop, like most of the shops in this and adjacent areas, is hyper focused on modern comics. I understand why, and it makes sense to a point, but it isn't somewhere i could see spending any time really picking through back issues for good stuff. If I lived nearby, i might get my weekly pull here, but i wouldn't reserve much time for hanging out. I was traveling through the area on a tour of shops looking specifically for older back issues, i'm afraid this shop doesn't hit that kind of niche. I'm also confused about the name, because there was no indication anywhere that coffee was involved at all. I expected something like a Cafe with an attached book store, but as it turns out the coffee referenced in the name of the shop refers to coffee grounds that they give away with purchases? It's just a little misleading, and a big reason I won't score this shop higher. Overall, this shop is probably good for a pull list, but not good for collectors who are deeper in the trenches than modern slabs and resale value collecting. The employee was nice, and helpful, but the location itself is not great, and the name doesn't really imply what the concept is very well.

I know they've been broken into a few times, so they try and limit that as best they can. That being said, this is a back issue paradise. Prices are fair to bordering high, but not always. I got a Star Wars #1 from them that appraised for higher than was advertised. They've got a ton of Bronze and Silver age stuff of all varieties. They dont have a website that I am aware of, but they do auctions exclusively on Instagram last I checked.
