We loved the avocado toast and the croissants here, but expect a wait and hopefully you'll get one of the few tables. Such a quaint spot with the bakery goods in a huge glass display when you walk in. It was always packed but we came several times because it was convenient, in our neighborhood and the menu was great! The coffees were amazing and the teas were good too! The service, although a tad slow, was pleasant and personable.

This was one of the best breakfast places I have been to, legit. Food: I had an avocado toast on fresh made sourbread with hollandaise sauce and poached eggs which were AMAZING. I loved the cheesecake and everyone loved their food. Service: The girls working there were nice and on top of everything, despite the relaxed environment. Aesthetic: brick walls and beautiful wood features furnished this small breakfast place that has a line outside an hour after opening.

Stumbled upon this cute coffee shop and bakery as we walked around. There is no sign outside at all but we saw people inside and decided to peek inside. Had some delicious baked goods: carrot cake, brownie, stuffed croissant, and a sweet roll with banana and Dulce de leche. The coffees were really good. We ordered a cappuccino and a latte. Service was quick and pleasant.

Great place for a simple brunch! Came with a friend and waited in a short line before entering. We both got matcha lattes and the Benedict Pumpkin Pum. Matcha Latte (4/5) - Not too strong which I liked. Cute little foam heart. Not sweet but I tend to like sweeter matcha lattes lol. Benedict Pum Pum (5/5) Avocado toast on sourdough bread. Very tasty, loved the egg on top, perfection.

Beautiful coffee. I enjoyed a pistachio-matcha filled croissant which was perfectly flakey and just right sweet (not too much). Shared table with some folks who had the avocado toast with poached egg and the "breakfast club". they were thrilled. Loved the service (extremely kind both with my limited Spanish and with those who had no Spanish, they speak English), and loved the exposed rafters in the ceiling etc. Only down side is that it is small, but I would say definitely worth the wait!

This cafe is so marvelous. Beware though, it is loud due to the music. Customer service was friendly and we were greeted immediately. The cafe is reminiscent of a school classroom. I enjoyed the cappuccino drinks here. The menu is really appetizing. I recommend Avo Toast Benedict Pum Pum And definitely the green Shakshuka. Last time I was in shakshuka, was in Israel. And I had it everyday during our holidays here haha. The green shakshuka at Pum Pum is huge compared to the serving sizes of Israel. But equally delicious. If you want the tomato based shakshuka that is the red one. I cannot eat too many tomatoes anymore so I opted for the green. The green one comes on a bed of cooked spinach with two poached eggs on top. Feta cheese is crumbled on the whole dish. It is served with two huge pieces of yummy rustic bread. Perfect dish to have on a cold morning! I highly recommend coming to Pum Pum

Came here as a recommendation from our AirBNB host for breakfast. Loved the ambience and our first real meal in Madrid. However, we did not know it was a vegetarian spot, as we typically like to have some sort of bacon or meat with our breakfast. We ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs, and with the sauce, it was pretty tasty. Nice presentation.

Not the tastiest avocado toast. The crumbled almonds really tasted like peanuts. I hate peanuts

We stopped by this cafe based on the pictures. Very basic food. I ordered the avocado toast. Mistake. My toast was hard as a brick. Super bland. Never again. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict.... you can never go wrong with a bene!! It wasn't wrong, it was just alright. The Shashuka that my neighbor order looked really good. He ate it up like a ravenous wolf. Maybe I'll get that if I ever visit again.

Not really sure why, but this place was semi difficult to find, but I think that's just because the Google and Apple Maps location of it were a bit off. However, finding it was great. It took a few minutes to get a table and we were asked to wait outside, which wasn't a big deal. I would say this place was a tad more expensive relative to the breakfast options you can get around Madrid, but the food, drinks and portion sizes make up for it. I wasn't that hungry, but got the Shakshuka since the person next to me had it, and it looked good. I completely finished it. The combo and flavors with the eggs, feta, roasted tomatoes and bread on the side was very appetizing. My girlfriend got the benedict pum pum, adding a second egg and also completely finished it. The cafe is a tight squeeze, but definitely worth it if you can make it.

Latte and Pum 2 Much with butter and jam.

Great little spot to grab a quick morning bite and some coffee. I had the Pum 2 much, toast with butter and jam, along with a latte. Good service, it did take a while for them to seat me even though I stood at the post and 3 employees looked at me but it was clear it was one persons job to say, 'pick a seat anywhere'. Items came out quickly and for the price you get a lot! Definitely recommend.

We visited this cafe around 11 am on a Thursday morning, it was busy but tables opened up quickly. This cafe was rustic and absolutely enchanting. We ordered the Benedict Pum Pum and the Shakshuka. We were very pleased with both dishes. The benedict was flavorful and creamy and had a good amount of avocado. The shakshuka had copious amounts of tomato and feta to scoop up with hearty multigrain bread. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and everything that we needed that morning. I would highly recommend visiting this gem.

    Komal S.

We got the Benedict pum pum, orange juice, matcha latte and regular latte. The Benedict pum pum was pretty good, I loved the bread the use. It was very fresh. The orange juice was delicious. Matcha latte was not sweet enough, but added some honey and made it sweeter. Very cute ambiance!

Amazing! The standard breakfast for 10€ was great. A croissant, parfait, OJ, and avocado toast with egg and sauce was delicious. I upgraded to a fancy coffee. I would totally come back. Get there early or there will be a wait.

They probably prefer it that way because the quiet vibe appeared to be part of the ambiance they're seeking here. We just found it by chance on Google Maps as an alternative to the beef-heavy eateries in the neighborhood. We just felt a need to eat healthier. The menu was small and appetizing, and we treated ourselves to two 3,5€ glasses of Zafra Blanco, a crisp Spanish white wine that freshened our palates. We started our meal with a complimentary helping of a "creamy" beetroot dip accompanied by lightly crisped pita chips (Photo 7). Next came the 12€ Spinach and "Parmesan" Croquettes, six lightly fried, falafel-like spheres drizzled with cashew nut mayo (Photo 8). They provided the ideal bites. Jamie went for their signature 15€ Moroccan Bowl with corn couscous, beetroot falafel, sweet potato, spinach, cherries, pickled cucumber, tomato, and fresh dates drizzled with mint yogurt sauce (Photo 6). It was quite a cornucopia of flavors that meshed quite well together with the falafels the particular standout. I decided to go for the 8€ Brochette of "Chicken" with chunks of zucchini and onion and satay sauce over a bed of sweet potato noodles (Photo 9). I'm not sure what the "chicken" was, but the flavor and texture was surprisingly spot-on. At the same time, I'm glad I limited myself to one skewer because I wanted to save room for dessert and the 4€ bottle of sparkling Green Apple Cider (Photo 4). Jamie and I settled on the delightful 6,5€ Tiramisu Cake dusted with Cocoa and swirled with Toffee (Photo 10). We finished our meal with 2€ cups of Cortado with the right amount of warm, steamed milk (Photo 5). The proprietor spoke a rollicking Spanish accompanied with gestures, so I understood him well enough and followed him to the back. Bypassing the lovely front dining area, I was greeted by a spacious room featuring low seating, bright paintings and ornamentation, and comfortable lighting. I took off my shoes, set them on a shelf, and found a seat to survey the room. There were many decorations, but they didn't clutter. The seats, though low, were quite comfortable. I sat as if I were a lowbent kid inspecting a snail. Yatiri features an a la carte and menu of they day for €11. I went with the latter, ordering Guiso de Lentelas (lentil soup with carrots), Arepa con Berenjena al Graten (arepa topped with eggplant and cheese), and Gelatina de Remolacha (beet jello). The lentils were great, resting at the bottom of their deep bowl. It came with seeded bread, dense, slightly moist. It reminded me of home and my mom's attempted at homemade spelt bread. Then the open faced arepa came. The crunchy corn gave way to a more chewy topping. Dusted with herbs, I enjoyed the eggplant. It was topped with cheese. From the taste, I think it may be faux cheese. The gelatin was the strange one. I didn't know what I ordered and finally looked up remolacha once home. I tried to place the subtle sweetness with that final flavor essence. It makes sense now. Beet! Overall, I had a great time. I want to go back and take some pictures. It seems I found my first blog worthy place in Madrid.

I know this one was exactly 5 months ago, because we touched down in Madrid on New Years Day, and this was the first place we ate (sounds like they've been here for aeons, so I doubt they've changed significantly since January.) My plan when we landed had been to just go down the list I'd made before we left of the best quick food places near our hotel, and eat at the first one that *was* open on New Years. I was worried there wouldn't be any and we'd be eating snacks from a convenience store, but nope! This place was indeed open. Open, and an absolute *madhouse*. I'm not sure if it was just because it was New Years, they were open, and much of the street wasn't, or if they're always this crazy - but it was a decent wait to order, to the point that it wasn't *entirely* clear whether we were even waiting correctly to order, since the line had kind of turned into a blob. Ordering and picking up our food was slightly nerve-wracking with how crowded it was, and there didn't really appear to be anywhere inside to sit, so we figured we'd sit outside at the tables... that we got immediately yelled at for sitting at, because it turns out all the tables right outside their entrance, actually belongs to their next door neighbor. So if I were ever back in Madrid, I *would* totally consider getting food here again, but I'd just probably plan on bringing it back to the hotel, vs what we ended up doing, finding the closest nearby flat non-private surface and eating it standing up in an alley. It definitely felt like a cool historic building inside, though, would've loved to dine in, if it hadn't been wall-to-wall packed, which it sounds like they might just always be. Food was great, though. We shared (this was plenty of food): An order of the cider-braised sausages - wonderful. Bonus, we learned from personal experience, you definitely want to get an order of these sausages, as not only are the sausages themselves delicious, the resulting au jus was also great for dipping the other items into.) An order of the ham and cheese croquettes - pretty tasty, though they did fall apart. Even tastier dipped in sausage juice, though then they *really* fell apart. Worth it though. Didn't look like you got a lot per order, but looks are deceiving - they were *rich*. An order of their famous mushrooms - I was a bit surprised, given the name literally means "the mushroom bar", that they only had a single mushroom dish, though given the sheer volume of that one item they clearly sell nightly, I can see why. Anyway, as a mushroom fan... they were certainly tasty mushrooms, perfectly cooked, but in my opinion, just a bit oversalted. Also had a glass of sangria for 2.50 euro - it is extremely good sangria, though the glass for 2.50 was pretty small. They also sell it for a better price by the larger container, but sadly, while I absolutely loved the European spirit of trusting people to be responsible after leaving with a to-go alcoholic beverage... they don't sell the *larger* sized sangria if you aren't dining in. Was too bad, as I absolutely would have loved twice as much of that sangria, but it clearly wasn't worth standing in a long ordering line a second time for it.

If you're looking for delicious mushrooms look no further! Beautiful old restaurant. Great service!read more

We wee again looking for a place with vegetarian options, and as it turned out, Artemisa offers an exclusively vegetarian and vegan menu. As hopeless non-Europeans who don't eat dinner at midnight, it should come as no surprise that we were their first customers. For 1,3€ per person, we received their artisan gluten-free bread made with chickpea flour (Photo 6) and slices of their Leek & Mushroom Quiche, a browned and flaky savory confection (Photo 9). Both items signaled the satisfaction that lay ahead. Jamie and I decided to start our order by sharing the 13,6€ Antilla Salad, a colorful melange of shredded lettuce, pineapple, mango, papaya, avocado, corn, and carrot (Photo 5). It was a refreshing variety of produce. For his entree, Jamie surprised me with his order, the 13,95€ Lebanese Burger made of lentil, quinoa, and spinach and layered with chickpea hummus, arugula, cheese, and tomato. It came with a side of thickly cut French fries which Americans would describe as steak fries (Photo 4). Quite a tender burger with umami. I went with the 15€ Eggplant & Shiitake Moussaka, a delicious eggplant lasagna with quinoa and vegetable ratatouille. It was ladled with a 'cream' sauce made with shiitake mushrooms and and feta 'cheese' cubes (Photo 8). The ingredients used in this dish were surprisingly delicate, and the cumulative impact lent quite a flavor punch given its vegan profile. This was a meal we didn't quite expect to have in Madrid because Spanish tapas were not involved.
