They recommended Pum Pum which was the next block. Very cool place. Obviously very popular with the locals. The folks working there were super-nice and very tolerant of my poor Espanol!!! They spoke English better than I speak Spanish - TG!! We got Cappuccino and Lattes with Oatmilk - excellent ! For breakfast we got the avocado toast. It was 'The best we've ever had!" The green one comes on a bed of cooked spinach with two poached eggs on top. Feta cheese is crumbled on the whole dish. It is served with two huge pieces of yummy rustic bread. It took a few minutes to get a table and we were asked to wait outside, which wasn't a big deal. I would say this place was a tad more expensive relative to the breakfast options you can get around Madrid, but the food, drinks and portion sizes make up for it. I wasn't that hungry, but got the Shakshuka since the person next to me had it, and it looked good. I completely finished it. The combo and flavors with the eggs, feta, roasted tomatoes and bread on the side was very appetizing. My girlfriend got the benedict pum pum, adding a second egg and also completely finished it. We were very pleased with both dishes. The benedict was flavorful and creamy and had a good amount of avocado. The shakshuka had copious amounts of tomato and feta to scoop up with hearty multigrain bread. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and everything that we needed that morning. I visited Pum Pum on a Friday afternoon for a quick late lunch. At first, I walked passed the building, even while using GoogleMaps, because there is no large sign pointing to where the cafe is. When I walked in, it was very crowded, so I ended up sitting at the working bar. I ordered the benedict pumpum right away, as I had seen many photos of it on Yelp. Other groups of people came in, but the place was so small and the food came out slowly. I do not know exactly when I came in, but I had to wait over 30 minutes for my food to come. I only ordered one avocado toast with an egg, which apparently took a long time to prepare. The food finally came out, and looked interesting. The multigrain toast on the bottom was thick, but also really toasted. It would be pretty hard to mess up the avocado part, and they were pretty generous, so that was good. Surprisingly, the egg was not really runny, and more cooked than I expected, but was neither a bad nor good thing. What intrigued me the most about the egg benedict was the sauce. It was not the usual hollandaise sauce, as it had much more of a tang to it, but was pretty thick as well. Honestly it was weird, and I could not tell if I liked it or not. Also, the black sesame seeds were also kind of useless. Overall the food was decent, but not worth the long wait, and I do not think I would go back. read more

One day I spent 3 hours there. I loved how authentic their vision is, how down-to-earth their demeanor is, and ultimately the freshness of the food. They made the best coldpress beat juice and this pear salad that was to die for. I would recommend any and all people to go there. I stayed at an Airbnb around the corner, and my hostess told me about it. I even wrote on my review for Airbnb that if anyone stays at the apartment, they MUST go to PumPum Cafe. first of all, let me say that it's hard to find matcha latte anywhere in spain, and to find it now here is a pleasant surprise. The place with banana tree and red brick just bring back the homey feeling in my tropical country (where did you guys get the banana tree anyway? Atocha station? hehehe). But seeing at the fresh ingredients and vibrant colors on people's dishes, I decided to go for it and order cakes, juices, coffee and of course, matcha. The coconut cake did not disappoint! it was moist and sweet (tad bit too sweet) but add the sweet dulce de leche , it became unsweet (like, so sweet it's not sweet anymore? if that even makes sense) and lovely. Ordered tribulate (house specialty) and I sense clove and cinnamon in the coffee? I like it, but would defo love it had it been on bigger glass hahahaha. Ok,when we got there, my friend and I were so happy to see the place, we thought looked nice and interesting and good ambience. So we decided to sit and ordered the eggs benedict with advocado. It was delish! When we were eating our friend decided to join us and have breakfast there as well, so he came right after we finished eating. When he arrived, we joined 2 two seats tables together so all of us can sit together. Than came one of the waiter (we call her the tall girl), and told us (in spanish), that we are not supposed to join the table, and they need to take one of the table, or my friend has to order something to eat. And he was actually was holding the menu and about to order something. I was like, that was rude? Wasn't she supposed to ask first, if my friend is gonna order? Or maybe say, "Are you ready to order?" I mean before she told us she was gonna take one of the table? Than we said, "No! We're gonna order." So we ordered. After about 30 minutes of waiting for the food, somebody came again (the smaller girl), and told us the same thing (this time in english), telling us the same thing. Than we were like, but than where our friend gonna sit if she takes the table and the chair? And than she said ok that's fine. And about 2 minutes after that, came another waiter (the man with the beard), told us the same thing. But he was more pushy, like he didn't care, but he needed the table now. I mean, if there is a line, and we already ordered the food, weren't they supposed to let us finish our meal first, and let them wait? But NO, they were like... No, the 3 of you have to share that tiny table (I mean really tiny!), so we can let more customers come in. Or maybe, if they want to keep the customer flow fast, they want to get the food out faster!! I mean, we don't mind to leave whenever we finish eating. So in the end, we cancel the last order, and my friend had breakfast somewhere else (in a more friendly place about 5 minutes walk away!). read more
