I'm obsessed with pigs, so I was very excited to meet their adorable pot‑belly pig at the front named Toffee. Tickets were on the pricier side, but honestly worth it -- the money supports an organization that gives animals of all kinds a safe, loving place to live. They also sell produce grown on the farm, along with drinks and snacks you can enjoy while walking around the grounds. They offer upgraded experiences for an additional cost if you want something more hands‑on. We went on a bright, sunny day, and it was HOT -- definitely recommend sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and comfy walking shoes. I was in heaven here. They have goats, camels, pigs, horses, a zebra, and more. You can easily spend the whole day here -- come early to beat the heat and the crowds. It's truly an animal lovers' paradise and a great place to learn about animals, be outside, and have some fun, all while supporting an amazing nonprofit doing meaningful work. Horses have way more character than I would have thought! I have learned they can push your boundaries or engage in lighthearted mischief while sticking to their training. They do have porta potties on the grounds and customer service was wonderful. They also provide complimentary sunblock and mosquito spray--sprayed bug spray on horses for their protection as well. To know especially that these are rescued animals and are being taken care of so carefully, giving us the privilege of being able to give them our love as well, it was a heartwarming experience. Plenty of free parking available right infront of the sanctuary. There is a cute little shop attached to the sanctuary, where you can buy their handmade truffle chocolates which are so delicious (coming from someone who isn't a fan of truffle chocolates), fresh farm eggs, honey, and other delicacies. With your zoo "ticket" you get 2 free samples of their chocolates and a hefty bag of feed for the animals. The animals are mostly in their own pens, with some together. There's even a couple of the pigs you'll find out of pens, just hanging out on the property, laying beside the building. You're able to go into the tortoise pen and feed/pet him as well, 2 people at a time inside the pen, as he does get anxious. You're not able to feed all of the animals, but for the most part you can. Each pen has a sign for which animals are ok to feed/pet and which are not. They are very calm and friendly, as long as you are too. They take the feed very gently and don't bite your fingers. On the weekends they offer pizza made fresh for the visitors, and have plenty of covered outdoor seating options to enjoy. They also offer wine tasting, but we did not partake, as we had just left a winery, but I'm sure it is quite enjoyable as well. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and it's a 5 minute drive from the wineries!

I'll preface this by saying I'm a house rabbit owner. The old setup stressed me out with the bunnies running around being grabbed and picked up by everyone and poked and prodded by kids when they clearly were trying to hide. The new setup? I was happily surprised to hear the bunnies weren't out for the day due to the weather. They can suffer heatstroke and are sensitive to hot weather (mine are spoiled and live in 73-69° daily). So no bunnies out suffering the heat? That's so awesome! Thanks for caring RSR! I got to love on the Guinea pigs who had room to run, while someone would pick them up and place them in a bin beside me, tell me their name, approx age, and their fave veggie. I fell in love with Lola (I believe that's her name). She's a fiend for lettuce and gets the cutest green mouf. She begs for more and you can't deny her lil bug eyes. The Emu Angel has been there since I last visited (she's 38yrs old!). The goats and sheep are separated from the llamas and you can't step inside with them anymore (honestly this is probably best so kids don't get knocked out or have their clothes chewed). You can still feed and pet all of the animals! I can't complain about the price of admission or the price of feeding them. I personally know the cost of exotic vet care and it's not cheap, throw in the livestock vets and care and you're looking at a pretty penny. I guess a pro tip is to show up on a week day, somewhere around 2, and pace yourself. I spent over an hour there so it wasn't a blink and you miss it type of adventure for me.

This place is so cute, and the train drops you off right there, which makes it super convenient! My almost 3-year-old especially loved the petting zoo.
