Came here for a first date a while back and had a wonderful time. The music was good, the dj was doing their thing. They gave us complimentary nachos when we sat down at the bar and it was pretty tasty. My drinks were hitting and very delicious. The crowd was very diverse which i loved! Place has an old school vibe and is cozy. Would definitely come back, just not with the guy haha.

Came in for a quick bite after a movie in the area. Love the small bites menu that you can order from Punch House. Empanadas were flavorful and moist. Wish there were more chips, we were left with a bunch more salsa after we finished the chips!

I've been here twice, once at night on the weekend, and again during a weekday evening. Two different vibes. Weekend night is definitely a cool bar to get drinks and just enjoy times with ur friends. It's definitely very dark down there and can be difficult to get a spot to sit. The cocktails are made in a punch so not much substitution is possible During the week, a few of us came for a bite and a drink. The burger was super yummy and it was pretty dead in there, we were maybe 1 of 2 parties there. Overall a cool place.

This is such a nice speakeasy! Never knew this existed in Pilsen let alone Thalia Hall. I don't know how I ever miss this precious building! I walked into a restaurant in which Punch House resides. The host near door was not sure about seating at Punch House and told us to head downstairs to see so safe to say that they're 2 separate entities. We headed downstairs and was hit by this old school look with the booths, lounge seats, low tables, piano, and more. I would say that they should be a bit better about being more welcoming or having a sign that says (seat yourself) or else you can stand there looking confused like us haha. We decided to just go ahead and find a seat at the closest table to us and the door cause we were too timid to see if anything was available and didn't know yet if that was allowed haha i think that's the onlyyy reason I took a star off. Once we sat down a waitress noticed us about 2min after and we had already looked at the menu (QR) and asked her for recommendations and flavor questions. She was very helpful and we both really enjoyed our drinks! Our waitress left mid service so can't say too much about her. I would definitely sneak in here again if possible when in the Pilsen area for a drink!

I first came to punch house about 5 years ago on a date. I enjoyed their punch class, we were able to learn how to prepare a holiday punch along another couple. This is an ideal spot for a date, very low light and jazzy vibe. The punch we made that evening (punch class) was tasty, we couldn't really taste the alcohol but it kicked in after. I liked this about the drink, it had a lot of the flavors but the alcohol didn't take away from it. Alcohol did it's effect without ruining the drinks flavor. After that first visit, I decided to visit every time I traveled to Chicago. Yesterday was my most recent visit and I didn't like it as much anymore. The music was very loud, it wasn't easy to hear ourselves-- so not the ideal spot anymore for a chatty moment over a drink. The punch wasn't tasty, it had a strong alcohol flavor and the rest felt diluted at the same time. Did they change who made the punch? It barely had flavor. Very disappointed.

Found ourselves in the cutest speakeasy for date night Saturday. You'll find it in the basement of Dusek's, same building as Thalia Hall. We came early enough where there was still prime seating- they told us to seat ourselves. The server was pretty attentive, always checking in to see if we needed refills or more to order. We ordered the tequila punch called Space juice for Jered. It gave sangria vibes but overall a decent punch since I ordered two lol. I had half a dozen oysters which was great! Loved the MIGNONETTE sauce with the lemons. My bf ordered their cheeseburger. The burger was a little on the medium rare side so make sure you ask for how you like it done. They played an interesting mix of old school hip hop, 2000s r&b, and pop. Very chill vibes so don't think I would come here if I wanted to hit the dance floor but I'll try on a later night next time.

Interesting place to hide and have a drink with friends. Literally you go down the spiral staircase and find a seat, it is fairly gloomy and not well lit, I had to trust that I won't trip. I found a booth and sat with my friends. I got the menu and honestly could not see the menu and had to use my phone flashlight to read it. The waitress came and first thing she asked was "Are you going to pay cash or credit?" Was weird but I asked, basically they need to hold your credit card if you will use it to pay the bill. I told her, I pay cash. We ordered a few appetizers and it was decent, the drinks was limited so I went with the traditional can. We all did not stay too long as all of us had an hard time reading the menu to order more food. The consensus was that if we are wanting to hide from people we will come here.

Great place to lay back and relax with friends. Downstairs they have a bar that is chill with 6 booths and a great place to hang out in the north side of the bar with a DJ stand and a small library. The service is good and they have a variety of housemate mix drinks. Unfortunately, we didn't try the food. However, the waitress said they are known for their bar snacks. Definitely will be bringing other friends to show them how chill this bar is. We tried the Chatham Artillery, which had a different variety of liquors in one. It was pretty good, wouldn't get it again though. Cheers!!

That said, this place just completely disappointed. The food was just not good. I had the burger sliders and for $9 a piece you expect them to be something special. They were not. Overcooked with a little sauce and two pickles slapped on the bun with a tiny little dab of fake cheese - it was like a bad and way more expensive version of McDonald's. The onion rings were the frozen crumbly kind not the fresh beer battered kind and so that's a big "no!" for me. The dipping sauce was okay. Service was friendly and I think the guy was new but it wasn't good enough for a place like that at the top of the building. There were two servers so I'm guessing one was training maybe. They didn't make it to my table to check to see if everything was okay while I was eating and it even took them a while to notice that I was done eating. It's was slow so I don't think they were stressing with too many tables. That kind of place should knock your socks off - but it was on the low end of mediocre. I wouldn't go there again for food. Maybe it's a decent place to go to the bar but since I don't drink I can't help much on that end.

You simply choose your preferred spirit, flavor profile, and glassware, then let the mixologist create something just for you. They're always happy to offer recommendations if you're unsure what to order, but they're equally excited to create something completely unique if you're feeling adventurous. Watching them craft each drink is part of the experience. I've even hosted a birthday gathering here in their private side room, where we enjoyed charcuterie boards alongside our cocktails. If you're just stopping in for drinks, though, I'd recommend grabbing dinner beforehand, as the food offerings are fairly limited. More often than not though, you'll find me sitting right at the bar. I love watching the bartenders showcase their craft and chatting with them about the incredible selection of spirits they have on hand. I'll start out by saying that the time in the Aviary was the best cocktail experience we have ever had. Not saying the best cocktails (even though they were very good), but the best experience as far as interesting presentations and overall service combined with good cocktails that when you were drinking them did not feel gimmicky at all, but that everything had a purpose. My wife did the 3 drink progression and ordered The Partridge, The 3 Martini Lunch, and the non-alcoholic version of the Kyoto Plum. I got three cocktails, but because I opted for one on their barrel aged part of the menu, my progression was basically a la carte, not the 3 drink $75 price. We also opted for one small bite of food - The Truffle explosion. My drinks were the Cereal Killer, the In The Rocks, and the Blood and Sand. As far as favorites went Joy's Partridge was basically a Mint Julep with some warming spices, but the presentation was great. Almost every table got that drink so it must be well received. My favorite was the Blood and Sand that was just a really well balanced cocktail. I think that part of the menu does not get the elaborate presentations. We both also enjoyed sharing the 3 martini lunch which was a small version of a Vesper, a Gibson, and a dirty Martini. Two things about this drink, we like our martinis with gin rather than vodka (obviously a Vesper has both), but their rules are that there are no changes to their menus, so both the gibson and the dirty martini were vodka based. The Gibson and the Vesper were our favorites of the three as the dirty martini was too dirty. There was even more olive brine if we wanted it dirtier. Bottom line, top notch experience, great friendly service, and the atmosphere was awesome watching the room being served some of the drinks we had, and ones that we did not order. The Truffle Explosion was also a very good bite, basically a truffle/parmesan infused soup dumpling that exploded in your mouth and helped out with a little food in our belly while having all that alcohol at the same time. The only disappointing cocktail was the Kyoto Plum mocktail, interesting presentation, but tasted just like grape juice - no real character. A hostess from Next came and got us and took us to our table in Next for the 1987 Manhattan meal. Thanks for a great experience Aviary!!

We made a reservation for their three course cocktail experience for four of us which required a deposit of $75 per person. Only one of us ended up doing the experience (the rest of us were too full and already tipsy from dinner) but it was nonetheless, a very cool experience. Service was top notch. My partner has admired this place for a long time, as a bartender himself, and he has even learned a thing or two from their Bible-like cookbooks. So when the maitre d offered to allow him to step into the kitchen and help finish one of their cocktails, he was absolutely giddy. This was such a memorable and special touch for us during our visit to Chicago. I loved seeing how the kitchen worked together in a traditional kitchen line but only focusing on cocktails. It was an impressive thing to see. Many of the cocktails are presented in an incredibly theatrical way featuring interesting glassware, dry ice, and even a plastic bag filled with flavored air. I actually wasn't a big fan of the cocktail I ordered (it leaned too heavy into the BBQ flavor for my taste) but I enjoyed trying everyone else's cocktails at the table. I would definitely recommend checking out The Aviary if you are a cocktail enthusiast hoping to try something you can't get anywhere else. It truly is a fine dining experience with mixology at the forefront.
