We came here for lunch. They're located in a corner of the Boca Inn on the west side of Federal Highway. It is a separate restaurant with its own entrance and much larger inside than anticipated. Parking is around the perimeter of the building. There was only one other table occupied when we were there. The limited lunch menu is quite reasonably priced. Of the 11 entrees, only 4 had some sort of meat; the others were vegetarian. We both chose the lamb curry, mild spice. This was a dollar extra. All meals include soup, salad, naan and rice. The lentil soup was very good. It was brought out even before we ordered. A single plate of salad came next. We didn't realize it was to be shared. It was basically a plate of iceberg, a tomato slice and a few cucumber slices with Italian dressing. Then a basket with nicely charred plain naan bread. Finally a larger plate of rice to share and our entrees of lamb curry. The lamb meat was very tender although there wasn't that much of it. There was a lot of sauce. I stopped by for a quick lunch and was presented with a lunch menu, I choose Keema Egg Matar, which is minced chicken with a sliced hard boiled egg, green peas and an aromatic curry. After ordering, I was presented with a small bowl of green pea soup, which was nice. Then a forgettable side salad before my meal arrived. When my order arrived, the curry tased wonderful and I received a bowl of white rice. I don't think it was basmati rice but it was served hot and fluffy. I also received a large pita bread heated on the grill. This was an unexpected treat for a casual lunch at a place I've never been before. We ordered from the available lunch specials which included a hot Lentil soup and a small salad to share. We each ordered the Lamb curry. First visit. Friday 6:00 PM. We were only the second table dining so the ambiance was very quiet. Service very helpful and friendly. We had the butter chicken and an order of Aloo Gohbi. These came with a large bowl of rice. We also had an order or Puri. All excellent. I would skip the Variety Tray appetizer and be more selective. We didn't particularly enjoy it. Ambiance of this place is beautiful, did you know the art was imported from India? And the food here is amazing! Don't skip on their chutneys, and the garlic Naan! the mango chutney is like a dessert (so good) ! But my favorite is the red spicy one (I forget what it was called, but they need to jar it and sell it bulk!)! We also had the special variety tray, their chicken is so tender and juicy and so was the lamb! The Paneer Tikka Masalas was for fainting! I was very impressed! Been years since we visited this place. Was meeting some friends and thought we would give it a shot again. Sadly it is very dated and smells musty. It's been here for a very long time and it really needs updated and cleaned up. The staff are extremely nice. But nice doesn't help when it comes to feeling great about a night out with loved ones. Over all it made our group uncomfortable and not sure if the front of house wasn't that clean to how the kitchen would be. So sadly we all will not be headed to this place anymore. The place doesn't look like much on the outside but is actually quite nice, large and clean on the inside, as well as nicely decorated to suit the Indian theme. Prices are moderate and they have a lunch combo for $10.95 pp and you get more than you can eat. Now for why I gave them 3 s: - The waiter didn't even say hello- handed us the limited lunch menus and left - Gave us water and never asked us if we would like anything else, had to specifically request a drinks menu and had to flag him down to place drinks orders. - The waiter wore a long sleeve shirt with the wrist parts turned up and flared out. Ambience is pleasant; restaurant very clean. A brand new menu and possibly a new cook as well. Our previous visits were always greeted by very good food. So we returned with a guest assuming we'd be impressing him with good food. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. One order of shrimp was inedible; unable to be cut. Another had chicken which wasn't chewable. The third enjoyed his meal so shared with us. The little condiments were fine but that doesn't constitute a meal. We won't be hurrying back. read more

I haven't been to Punjab restaurant in a few years and I had fond memories of my experiences there. That's changed, a lot. This restaurant is a shadow of itself. The waiter brings a small bowl of Chinese noodles and tamarind sauce, the shocked look on my face. What happened to the papadam ? Now they charge for papadam and think that Chinese noodles is an adequate replacement ? The veg somosa was good. Crunchy shell stuffed with well mashed tators and peas. I ordered the papadam and it was ok. Very lightly cooked, but still tasty. The entrees were hideous. Shrimp masala and butter chicken. The chicken was dry like shoe leather and the shrimp were so over cooked and rubbery my mom couldn't even chew them. The garlic naan was good and the sauces were also good. The rice, was a soggy, flavorless pile of yuck. Long gone is the saffron flavor or coloring. All in all the experience was pretty bad and I most certainly won't be back. Decent Indian food and good naan. This location is part of a hotel. Plenty of parking if needed. Had dinner from here the other night. We got several garlic, butter, and Kashmiri naan. We also got chicken tikka, korma, vindaloo, and lamb madras. The naan was all very good. The Kashmiri naan was a good sweet mixture of fruit and nuts. For the main dishes, they gave us a giant naan bag filled with rice. The entrees were all decent. The sag panir was excellent. No other flavor really struck me as anything above and beyond but this place is solid. Good portions of meat and a lot of sauce. I went here for nostalgia's sake since my son started going to school around here. It brought back memories of college and business lunch dates. Their lunch menu is honestly a little dated when compared to the other Indian options that are now available in Boca. They used to be the only game in town, but there have been a number of Indian options, one being in the plaza right across the street that has an award winning location in Coral Springs. Still, the lunch special does provide a good value. For $12 you get dal, salad, naan, and an entree. I feel the meats were a little on the tough side. The lamb was really tough and the chicken in the curry was breast meat so it was a little on the drier side when compared to some other places that use dark meat. I also feel like now that Florida food culture has changed and people have broadened their food vocabulary, people expect mainstays like butter chicken, korma, and saag paneer rather than "curry" on the menu. The mango lassis were phenomenal. Naan had a good char but was undercooked and doughy on the inside. The service was decent. I'd hate to be the kick in the ass here, but they need to make a change because someone just opened one of the best Indian lunch places down the street. Maybe a lunch buffet with a few novel items would help. read more

We went to Punjab tonight and had a wonderful experience! Superb food and courteous service. Started our meal with vegetable samosa appetizers which were delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the murg (chicken) saag, paneer tikka masala, and cheese naan bread. Everything was perfectly seasoned and tasted so very good! Some of the best Indian food we've had. Punjab Fine Indian has served up delicious and traditional Indian cuisine to Boca Raton for 35 years. It's located next to the Boca Inn on Federal which has less than stellar reviews and is not visually appealing from the outside. I truly believe being located by the Boca Inn may deter possible customers but I advise you to not judge a book by its cover. Punjab has plenty of parking on its side of the building and it just got comfortable new chairs that you would expect to find in someone's dining room. The dining room is beautifully decorated and lavish. My sister discovered Punjab a few years ago and introduced me to it. I love their Chicken Tiki Masala and butter Naan Bread. All dishes come with rice and when you sit down, some kind of Indian crips with mango chutney is served. They do serve beer and wine if you're in the mood. The owner and his wife are always there. The owner actually waited on us the other evening. This business is their pride and joy, rightfully so. read more

If you ever have a chance to visit India or Pakistan, you will discover some of the best desi food is in simplistic settings. You will enjoy roadside street food on carts consisted of chaat (potato/chickpea snack) , dahi baraye(yogurt dumplings with various toppings),samosas (fried savory pastry with veggies or meat) etc. So, when I go to Desi (Indo/Pak) restaurants in the U.S. I do not expect much with ambience but focus on yummy savory food with good quality ingredients. Dining at Punjab restaurant, you are definitely not eating at The Oberoi Amarvilas (considered the Ritz Carlton near the Taj Mahal in India). However, you will find a painting of the Taj Mahal and other famous places in India throughout the restaurant. Majority of the time, I have gone for the lunch specials. You can not beat the price in Boca, paying only 8 dollars for my favorite palak paneer (spinach and cheese) with some toasty hot naan right out of the tandoor (type of oven)... It does come with rice as well, which I always decline since the naan is so much better and tastier. Try the onion/tomato sauce with the entree, it's nice and tangy. Oh, and it also comes with lentil soup to start off with. Yikes, so much food but yet so good. One of the best lunch deals around town for sure!!! Dinner it's a different story, you might feel the prices are almost three times as much and the ambience is not there. If you do go for dinner I will recommend something which is not on the menu but is a fantastic appetizer. Try their chaat papri with dahi (yogurt) . It reminds me of some yummy street-side carts. They put some yummy sauces on top of it with bits of samosas pieces. It's delicious. They are in the middle of renovating the entire place but still open. I tried the Dal with mild spicy and I didn't love it. Too spicy for me. My friend had the Aloo Matar Tamatar, didn't love it either. We both tried something different instead of our regular orders.
