We wanted to try Caribbean Latin food as we were driving by. Saw they had decent reviews so decided to try it. My husband had the masitas de puerco. They were ok. A but in the dry side with a side of French fries - those were nice and crispy The rice and beans were also just ok. I had the pollo con limón Let me tell you that chicken was good we both liked it. The service was ok. The restaurant did felt comfortable, nicely decorated and clean.

I have always loved Spanish food. This is a Dominican owned restaurant and it offers outside seating with an outdoor bar for faster service. I had the Seafood Casuela of Mariscos with a side of Mofongo it was delicious and tasted great. The portions were large enough to share.

I've been to Puna Cana Restaurant three times. I've left extremely happy and FULL every time. I've recently just moved from South Fl to Central Fl and this restaurant reminds me of the good Hispanic food I've left behind in Miami. The customer service is on point and I appreciate suggestions and recommendations. They have a full bar. I also enjoy their music selection.

My parents are from the Dominican Republic and both cook like professional Dominican chefs. When I visited home and they recommended for us to dine at a local Dominican spot, I was weirded out. Why on earth would we leave the house to eat something I've had at home my entire life? But as soon as we arrive, I got it. Puna Cana is conveniently located right off of 192, no more than 10 minutes from my parents house. Their menu is a mix of Dominican and Puerto Rican dishes and features so many of my favorites. They have a full bar and their drinks were decently price, and pretty strong. The service was impeccable. It was clear that my parents were regulars, as they said hello to several people who worked here. I learned that they frequent the restaurant for Karaoke Nights on Saturdays- who knew they were so cool?! I ordered the "camarofongo" aka camorones with mofongo aka shrimp with the most excellent smashed platano goodness. It was all covered and sitting in an amazing garlic sauce. I don't know how, but I ate the whole thing. It was delicious! My moms dish, the fish fillet, was also extremely tasty, covered in the same garlic sauce. All in all, this local spot was tasty, had great service and will leave you full for days. I'll be back next time I'm in town and my parents are too lazy to cook ;)

I am not sure what they call it but it was chicken stuffed with shrimp covered in a white sauce. Absolutely amazing. I am tempted to order one to go. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. I will definitely eat here again.

Fried Pork Lunch with Rice and Beans!

4 stars for the portions and flavor of food. Deducted 1 star for service. My colleagues raved this restaurant for the lunch specials for $5.95 and the portions you do get and the taste. Most of them are spanish so they know what real spanish food should taste like. They raved the fish lunch special -- however on this day we went they didnt have it on the menu. I asked my dominican colleague whats the next good thing on the menu and she chose the fried pork dish. This is a Dominican establishment and since she is Dominican I trusted her choice of dish. The water / drink service was ok - slow yet the place was not busy. So poor service on water service. Our lunch came in served with a big portion! The plate consisted about 5-6 big fried pork chunks with a side of rice and red beans with a side salad that had lettuce and 2 slices of tomatoes. I could not finish my food so the rest was placed to go containers. The pork was seasoned well and tender! Rice was tender and the beans were average no signs of pumpkin cubes like what I am used to. Of course salad side is average. Water tasted good here icy cold - but then again had to wave hand for water refills. Its def worth it grabbing lunch here since its made fresh to order, seasoned well and for $5.95 you get big portions!

This place gives such a homey feel and it's a nice atmosphere. It's good authentic food and a lot of it as well. Recommended when you want to have a nice calm meal.

I feel like it would be a great date time or a good time for family as well. The cocktail that I had was absolutely delicious. It was a spicy coconut margarita. Literally five out of five stars. After that, I would say the next best thing was the snapper. It was fried excellently. It included tostones and a salad. The fried rice was OK not the best in the world but not the worst either it was just OK. I would not get the chicken empanadas again or the mini Mofongos... the taste was just meh. I would visit this business again to try other items on their menu and to come back for that cocktail.

The place has a clean look and the vibe feels lively without being chaotic. It's the kind of spot where you can relax, have a drink, and not feel rushed. I ordered two Old Fashioneds and both were solid. Good balance, not too sweet, and they didn't water it down. You can tell they actually pay attention to how they mix their drinks. We grabbed a few shareable appetizers and they came out looking good. Everything tasted fresh and had real flavor. Nothing felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. Portions were fair and easy to split. Service was friendly and the staff checked in at the right times. Not too much, not too little. Overall, it was a nice visit. We were also able to smoke a cigar outside in the patio, but they also offer Hookahs if interested. Good drinks, good food, and a place I would come back to next time I'm in the area.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, just as you'd expect from the wonderful Dominican hospitality. Our waitress, Yanette, was truly exceptional very attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist. The food was delicious too we enjoyed appetizers, an entree, dessert, and some drinks, and everything was perfect. However, I wanted to share a small concern about the bill. There was a 20% service surcharge, which is understandable, but it felt a bit steep since we arrived before 5pm with only two of us. Out of that fee, about 14% went to the waitress as a tip, and 6% to the restaurant, which I find a bit unfair. It seems to me that the entire service fee should go directly to the staff, like our wonderful waitress, who did so much walking, smiling, and serving us with genuine care. The restaurant's prices are already quite high, so I hope the management will consider making this change. The staff deserves every bit of that service fee for their hard work and friendliness. You guys can definitely do better!

Disappointing Experience at Tropical Mofongo…read more I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Tropical Mofongo. I called to place an order and was told they would not take my order over the phone and that I had to order online. I followed their instructions and placed an online order totaling over $100. The order indicated that my food would be ready at 3:17 PM. I arrived at approximately 3:30 PM, only to find that my food was still not ready. When I went to pick up the order, I was asked to provide identification. Unfortunately, I had left my ID at the hotel where I was staying. I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.
