It seems to me that the entire service fee should go directly to the staff, like our wonderful waitress, who did so much walking, smiling, and serving us with genuine care. I called to place an order and was told they would not take my order over the phone and that I had to order online. I followed their instructions and placed an online order totaling over $100. The order indicated that my food would be ready at 3:17 PM. I arrived at approximately 3:30 PM, only to find that my food was still not ready. When I went to pick up the order, I was asked to provide identification. Unfortunately, I had left my ID at the hotel where I was staying. I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.
