I regularly order the Thai basil rice and chicken wings, and the flavor seems to vary from visit to visit. The dishes that originally made me a fan just haven't been hitting the same way recently. The pricing is also on the high side. I was surprised to be charged separately for fried rice and then again for vegetables without any protein included something I haven't encountered at other Thai restaurants. My most recent experience was especially disappointing when my order was incorrect, and I wasn't able to get a response from the restaurant until the following day. There's a lot of potential here because the food can be excellent when it's on point. I hope the restaurant focuses on consistency in both the kitchen and customer service, as I'd love to see it return to being one of my go-to Thai spots.

Needless to say, my main recipe changed in color and taste - I was frantic. After a half day of investigating who was the original supplier of the spice which was discontinued, I discovered it was Tampico Spice Company. That moment, I called them directly. I was greeted on the phone by a friendly lady named Delia, told her of my dilemma and she promptly knew exactly which spice I needed and sent me an "emergency supply" over night without even charging me! Later that month she, her grandson and father (who founded the company - 90+ yrs old) came to eat at my restaurant "just to taste what the difference their spices made in my food". Before leaving, she invited me to take a tour of their spice company, which I did later that month (a private tour by her son, Jesse). During the tour, I was informed that they could and would make any special blend of spices if I need them for any proprietary dish; that time will soon come, I responded. Chef Dix not only prepared a fabulous menu for us to prepare, but he carefully showed us "tricks of the trade" on how to chop, dice, slice, and julienne with ease and like a pro. He taught us how to properly hold the cutting knife and how to let the knife do all the work. He taught us to use fresh herbs and spices to bring life to ordinary dishes. I love to cook and thought I knew a lot about cooking, but I walked away with new techniques and a few more recipes that tickle the taste buds. Thank you Marla for hosting and including me.
