This is the best pizza place I have been in a LOOOOONG time. I've been 3 times now and it is our go-to when we are having a long, hard day and just need to be reminded there is good in the world. Because the pizza here is incredible. Consistently fresh and delicious - I've only ever gotten the margherita because why mess with perfection - this pizza is everything a pizza should be. Ordered one pizza, a salad and a side was told it would be approximately 40 to 45 minutes, that's the second bad experience I've had ordering pizza in the fan. AWESOME pizza. Some of the best I've had anywhere. Thin crust that was soft, and blackened (coal or wood fired taste). Sauce was very good - not sweet. Similar to Lombardi's in NYC, but they only make small pizzas, which is good because the middle of the pie doesn't get too thin to hold the sauce and toppings the way a larger Lombardi's pizza does. My wife and I tried it out and were very glad we did. The pizza was excellent--dough was a great texture and pizza had mozzarella chunks you could bite into. The size is good, two slices per person and quite filling if you are not too hungry. The servers and staff were all very attentive and friendly, and the space is clean and comfortable. Fantastic Neapolitan style pizza! I had heard about Pupatella from my friends in DC years before they established a location in Richmond. Now that they are here I had to go try it out. Pizza options are what I would consider very traditional for this style. There's nothing I would complain about. Just a very solid pie. The crust is so soft and flavorful (in my opinion the best part of a Neapolitan pizza). Definitely worth checking out if you like this style and they have a nice space to dine in as well. read more

Great pizza. But if you're not in the mood for pizza, don't fret, lots of other great items to chose from too. I recommend the meatball appetizer, salad option number 2, and the onion tart pizza and prosciutto and arugula pizza. Seriously, everything is great. The food is ready super quickly. The pizza here is absolutely amazing! The pizza is only one size but its decent. The crust is fluffy and doughy. The sauce is on point, both white and red. You can get a special pizza or great your own. It's in a cute little spot in the fan. Service is great and food comes out super quickly. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Our first time and we will be back! It is a different set-up than most places - you place your initial order at the counter, but have a server for any additional orders. The staff at the counter was helpful, and our table server was very attentive and friendly. The pizzas are Neapolitan style. The dough and crust were delicious! We ordered a Burrata white, sausage/onion, and pepperoni. The favorite was the pepperoni. Our kids loved their basic cheese pizzas. The arugula salad was enough for two and the shaved Parmesan and prosciutto were very fresh. We also liked the fried cheese and arancini with sausage. Used GrubHub, pizza was cold. One should expect the same as the pizza is very thin crust and can't hold much heat. The other bad thing about ordering from here with GrubHub, is your order is not checked prior to picking up the order here. This caused my order to miss my soda. I did get my refund for the soda but that didn't fix my need for the drink with my pizza. Bad resolution, you made the mistake fit it, don't run away with just a refund. read more

This was really good! We went with a group and had a great time. I'd describe it as semi-quick service - you order at the counter (where you get to see the VERY cool pizza oven!) and then sit, and they bring your food and drinks out. It doesn't take long, but it isn't, like, McDonald's fast, which is nice because the space is really pleasant to hang out in. Service was friendly and helpful. I ordered the mushroom pizza and my husband got the one with arugula and prosciutto. They were both great! Mine had brie and truffle oil and lots of perfectly cooked mushrooms; his has perfectly thin slices of prosciutto and just the right amount of fresh, peppery arugula. I don't usually like white pizzas, which is what mine was, but it was amazing. The tomato sauce on his was really great, too. The sole criticism I have is that the crust, while delicious, wasn't crisp. It really needs to be. I'm guessing this is just growing pains/training the still-new staff. I'm visiting from California and my mother suggested we buy some pizza from a local parlor instead of Domino's, so we decided to come here to Pupatella. The gentleman who assisted us was friendly and helpful. I was quite surprised to learn their pepperoni was beef! That just never happens. (Due to religious reasons, I cannot eat pork, so this definitely made my experience worthwhile). A fresh, authentic, Italian-styled Margarita Pizza w/ BEEF pepperoni was a phenomenal experience for me. I had bought another one yesterday as well cause they were so damn appetizing. The pricing is worth the quality of the product. The sizing is personal, and if you don't finish it, leftovers don't lose flavor (I used an air fryer to reheat it, strongly against microwaves for essentially anything at all). Highly recommended to all who love authentic Italian food, and/or a next level pizza that is rare to find. read more

Pupatella has won me over in best pizzas out in RVA. I arrived at the store and was promptly greeted by the workers who explained how their menu worked. After gazing at the menu, I decided on going for the Diavola and Margharita Pizzas since they seemed like classics. Within 5 minutes, I had both pizzas served to me! Talk about speedy service, the wait is unbelievable short if you are ever craving amazing pizza. The size of the pizzas is definitely questionable on being personal sized. By the time I hit the 3rd slice I always feel full, but its just so good that I ended up finishing it off, licking my fingers in-between. If you ever want the chance to experience mouth-watering Nepolotian Pizza, you should give Pupatella a try. You can get a 15% discount at the counter if you let them know that "Sam sent me." After being bombard editor with this places advertisements on my Instagram! I finally broke down and decided you know what? I'm gonna give it a try! Me and a friend went the next day to the Moore St location! Upon entering immediately loved the small yet busy atmosphere! We sat down with the menus! I ordered the meatball pizza and she ordered the pepperoni! The food cane and it looked really really good! Could've been my hungry eyes but after that first bite! I was floating! This place does Neapolitan pizza right. The pizza is legit because the pizza is made fresh to order and comes out with a bubbly crust and comes out in less than 5 minutes from placing your order. The crust, sauce,and toppings were amazing. The pizza tasted fresh and not greasy at all. The portion to price was also great. A pizza could have been easily shared by two people or devoured by one hungry person. I can't speak for take out but dine in was a good experience. So in 10 years of using this app, I've only posted about six reviews. Pupatella had me FLOORED. I was at Kings Dominion with my family and I was craving pizza. I looked all over yelp but couldn't find one close then, I saw this gem in Richmond, about 20 minutes away. It was my wife, my 3YO son, and myself and we got there about ten minutes before closing time. I half expected them to be shutting down, oven off, and possibly turn us away. Instead we were greeted with smiles from a very polite cashier and their pizza chef. We ordered 2 pizzas, the Margherita DOC, the Chorizo, and the Panzerotti as an appetizer. We sat down and they brought us the panzerotti which were these fried potato balls stuffed with (I think) prosciutto and mozzarella. These things were piping hot, crisp, light, and delicious. My son naturally loves French fries and devoured a whole one of these all by himself. My son is a VERY picky eater so I didn't think he'd like too many things on the menu but he kept asking for more when he ate the one we gave him. I succumbed to his request because I was worried the pizza would be a little spicy, or maybe just not the flavor he is used to when he thinks of pizza (too many chain pizza restaurants around my house). I noticed the pizza chef eyeing our table once or twice but didn't think much of it. I later understood that he wanted to see where we were with our appetizer because he, himself, brought out the pizzas the moment we were done. Both pizzas looked like art... something you'd post on IG or snapchat to make your friends jealous. My son was hesitant at first because it looked different to him, but once he tried it, he went to town. The Chorizo was delicious but the Margherita was the family favorite. Both pizzas were crisp, light, and full of flavor. After eating this style pizza, you don't feel like you just ate 3 lbs of dough. You feel full, but not the "I'm so full I can't move" feeling. Two different men came to check on our table to ensure we didn't need anything and to make sure the food was to our satisfaction. I'm pretty sure they were the managers or the owners so that was cool to see them personally attending to customers. This is by far the best pizza I've had. Probably the closest thing to authentic Italian pizza you'll find on this side of the Atlantic. Other things to note were that both the restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean, the entire staff was very professional and courteous, the speed of service was ridiculously fast, but most importantly the taste, the fresh ingredients, the lack of saturated fats and heavy bread, the FOOD -- FANTASTIC. Definitely can't stress the importance of trying the Margherita pizza. MUST TRY!! Get there early because it is a smaller restaurant, obviously focused on providing excellent food in an intimate setting, not just flipping table after table. This place is gonna blow up now that school is in session! read more
