(3 day nightmare) I boarded My dog to what I thought would be an awesome and caring facility . Sadly upon my return my dog had a Huge puncture wound on his neck and bloody paws.. WHICH NO ONE seemed to be aware of ! . I took my dog to the VCA immediately and had a verbal altercation with a staff member regarding the payment regarding the vet bill. (REALLY!) THE VCA doctor after examining not only said had this bite or pucture happen days ago while in there care . It was now INFECTED! My yorkie is 8 years plus and was lethargic, wasn't eating and required additional care including diet changes and daily injections I am STILL dealing with . I had to take him back to the VCA for dehydration and his constipation due to stress . Which was over $250 The facility never called to check on my dogs recovery ! I never received a refund or even an apology! I will never use this facility again and STRONGLY suggest you wouldn't if you care for your pet. I recently adopted my little Fiona from the Animal Shelter. She had all the terrible's!! She cried when I left, chewed on everything and didn't want to be touched by anyone and very shy around other dogs. I took her to Pupcakes for her initial evaluation/temperament test The Good: They only dog sit smaller dogs, so Fiona felt super comfortable. They allow the dogs to run and play majority of the day! They have a designated nap time!!! LOVE IT!! By the time I picked her up, she was cheerful and all played out.. Excellent!! Now when I drop her off, shes excited, she looks forward to going to Pupcakes The best part, no more crying when she's home alone Her temperament drastically changes when Fiona has had a day at Pupcakes. She is now excellent with other dogs, no barking, hiding, she has more confidence, which I know is weird to write of a dog, but she does. I LOVE the attention that Pupcakes gives my dog and all the dogs in their care!!! LOVE EM!!! read more

In Atlanta from out of state for the week for medical appointments & brought my 2 Yorkies. We used this place for doggie day care after visiting several other Doggie Day Care facilities. This place was so unique because they only take small dogs. I could view the entire facility from the front desk making it very transparent. Other facilities had restricted areas & were so over crowded. Pupcakes never seemed to have too many dogs & the staff was super friendly & genuinely appeared to love dogs. The staff was always cleaning up & mopping floors. It always smelled fresh. I would definitely use this place again & would recommend it to small dog owners!! read more

Where do I even start with this poorly run business.. As a new customer, I called to get pricing information and book a bath & mini groom for my golden retriever. The man that answered the phone sounded like he was high as a kite - couldn't give me any pricing information or tell me when would be a good time to drop my dog off. He said, "it doesn't matter, you can drop your dog off whenever you want during the day." Im used to making an appointment time, and picking my dog up within 2-3 hours after - not the case here. A very unprofessional start, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I walk in the grooming location that day and wasn't greeted by anyone. The whole place smells like urine. Stood there for 5 minutes before I said, "can I get some help please?" Turns out, they never put me on the books and there was no record of my appointment. On top of that, they said my dog was way too big to play with the other dogs and would have to be separated all day. He's 55lbs and this was never once mentioned to me on the phone. At this point I'm frustrated. The groomer got angry and started yelling at me, saying that she's just a part-time groomer and doesn't care. I decided to leave my dog anyway (poor decision on my part). I picked him up that afternoon.. worst haircut I've ever seen. Honestly, a hack job. He looked SO excited to be leaving that place. All the dogs in there look really miserable and neglected. Half of them were hiding and scared to death. :( I found out later, that due to grooming, his underbelly had become very infected. His paw was also cut and bleeding (see photos). We went to the vet where he was put on antibiotics and treatment cremes ($200 vet bill later), I called pupcakes back to speak with the owner. HORRIBLE customer service. She not only didn't give me my money back, but blamed MY dog for all the problems that had occurred. She insisted that he tried to bite the groomer. My dog is a loving golden retriever who's never once bit anyone in his entire life, and gets groomed regularly. Makes me think that they were really mean to him.. If you love your dog, please don't take them here. All the dogs look very sad, aren't given any attention or water. It's run by a bunch of people who really don't care. There are lots of other dog care businesses in Atlanta, I'm begging you to please explore those options. read more

This is a great daycare/grooming place tucked away in Buckhead. Pupcakes is the only place I've found that my dog actually enjoys going to! The employees seem to love their jobs and I like that it is cage free. I adopted my dog from the pound and she shakes every time she sees a metal cage or crate - at Pupcakes there are just short walls and the dogs have free reign over most of the building and "rooms" partitioned off so they can also get some privacy. She also likes that it is for relatively small dogs only, so there aren't any dogs twice her size trying to roughhouse. I also like that they have full access to an outdoor play area and a potty area. When she's been to other daycare and grooming places, she comes back clipped but stinky from the facilities and the other dogs. This is not the case at Pupcakes and the building itself doesn't smell like a dog pen inside! I've since referred a few neighbors to Pupcakes and they all love it as well! read more

What a great addition to the neighborhood! We had taken our pups to a few other places in the area for daycare/boarding and they always came home rambunctious and, often times, sick with major tummy issues. What a different experience at pupcakes! The puppies come back exhausted from playing both with the other dogs and staff all day long, which is great for them and great for us! So far, no tummy issues.. which shows that the place is clean and well kept. From a mommy's point of view, the things I like the most are a) you get to see where the puppies are being kept all day (some other places refuse to show you!) and b) there's an expansive outdoor area where the pups can play and "do their business"... no confinement to the same, small indoor area all day.. (I'm assuming this is what leads to tummy issues?). The only negative is that they don't have a webcam installed so that you can see the pups during the day.. hopefully that will come in time. I brought my Shih Tzu, Daisy, in to Pupcakes today for grooming after my co-worker raved about them. I had been driving from home (Buckhead) to Kennesaw every time my dog needed to be groomed, so I was eager to find a new groomer closer to home. I forgot the groomer's name, but she did a wonderful job! She did everything I asked and when I picked my dog up she checked with me to see how I liked it. Everyone there was very friendly and seemed to love the dogs. I will definitely be bringing my dog back, thank you Pupcakes! read more

Pupcakes is fantastic! Dizzy and Boomer love going there - even though Boomer kind of 'hates' it because often he gets groomed and he hates being groomed. But, we mix it up enough that not every time he goes there does he get a grooming. I love that it's only small dogs because my pups don't do very well with larger animals. Boomer gets quite scared of big dogs and when dogs are scared bad things can happen, so I prefer not to mix company. The staff is always very nice and helpful. I am a customer for life! read more

I took my very shy pup there for grooming today and upon arrival, everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. I explained how I wanted his hair cut and the groomer said she would do her best to keep his hair as long as possible considering the mats. I got a call several hours later (quicker than I thought) and when I picked up my pup, I was again greeted immediately! His hair cut was great and the groomer did exactly what I asked! The groomer was very nice and personable and my pup seemed to like the place so I will be a returning client due to great customer service! UPDATE: Service is bad and they are rude. If you are looking for a place to send your fur baby for day care or grooming you cannot choose better. My biggest rule with the people that I allow to care for my four-legged children is that they be animal lovers first and foremost. With that in mind Arlene and her amazing staff fit the bill exactly. They have cared for my own sweet puppies as well as taking care of the grooming needs of my boss in a pinch and after making things happen for me on a last-minute basis have taken over our grooming needs from the subpar mobile grooming we were previously using. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this team of sweet souls! After reading the review prior to mine I need to add that the whole concept of what she described is preposterous. I have taken a dog in that was severely matted and the degree of gentleness and care that the groomers took to do everything they could to relieve the situation without hurting the animal was so far above and beyond anything I have ever experienced it blows my mind. Certain pet owners can be rather blind to their own flaws and I can only assume that something she personally overlooked was something she scrutinized after the fact. In my multiple experiences with cupcakes and their groomers I have found only the gentlest treatment. Trust me I have had my experience with more than a few rough handlers over the years (Petsmart is key among those) and you will never find that at Pupcakes. read more

I have taken my 10 year old maltipoo to Pupcakes a few times now to get groomed. This last time put me over the edge. It was very odd when I picked him up, he was all by himself and wasn't excited as usual to see me. When I came home I noticed blood and cuts on his stomach and other places on his back legs. They also clipped his nails and few you could tell were bleeding. I am so upset I left a tip. I will never be taking him there again. Horrible customer service as well. The only thing the lady said to me was do you want a copy of my receipt. Stay away!!!!! read more

I am writing this review with heavy heart. I am also planning to call and speak with an owner. My 11 lb toy poodle has been going to Pupcakes for the past 3-4 month. We would take Reid to Pupcakes to play/ socialize about once a week. I took Reid over to Pupcakes the last Saturday. When I returned to pick him up, I was greeted by the furry barkers. Cute - right.... The dogs were alone. There was no adult / human supervision. My dog tried to approach the gate to greet me, but was angrily attacked by another dog. Reid moved away and I realized that he was scared. He was standing by the desk shaking. As I was getting ready to walk inside the bullpen and scoop my pup, the gentleman appeared from the back. I quickly voiced my concern, without pointing the finger at the aggressor dog. The gentlemen quickly removed the aggressor dog. He must have know. I hope this will put the owners and those who trust their furry baby on alert. It takes seconds for the dogs to hurt each other. I am saddened by the events of last Saturday. I want to preface this review by saying how excited I was to finally find somewhere that my sweet 6 month old puppy could play during the day with other puppies her size. I took her for a groom a couple weeks ago and left her for the day while I was at work. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality and service I received. She was a little apprehensive about the place when we got there that morning and was jumping at the window as she watched me leave. I called to make sure she was alright and was assured that she had warmed up to the other dogs. I left her for about 9 hours while I was at work and came by about 5 to get her. She was absolutely traumatized. My sweet happy puppy wasn't even really excited to see me, which is highly unusual. I mentioned that to the owner (Arlene) and she said she was probably just worn out from playing. She literally has never acted like that before. Her haircut looked awful as well. When I asked about it, the receptionist (Kyra) told me that the groomer wasn't able to cut her evenly due to her puppy hair. *okay, whatever* I tell myself. I again remarked on how odd she was acting and was told that she had played all day up until about 30 minutes ago. I wrote it off and figured she would be back to her lively self when we got home. It took her most of the evening to get some strength back and by day two she was doing fine. However, upon further examination when I got home, I found CUTS on her paws that were absolutely not there before I dropped her off. She had her paws trimmed at Pupcakes. The traumatic experience was one thing, but the cuts pushed it over the top. I immediately called Pupcakes and asked to speak with Arlene. She was very nice and asked that I send pictures (also attached here), to which I obliged. I didn't hear back from her until the following evening when she left me a voicemail. She said she had forwarded the pics to a friend of hers that was a vet. Her vet friend said the cuts looked like bruises. Umm, what? Her paws were missing skin. At least admit that you made a mistake. Overall, this was a ridiculously terrible experience and I am still very disappointed. I hate that our experience was so bad. Also, to add to another reviewers post, they do leave the dogs ALONE ALL night without a human. That is downright irresponsible in my opinion. AVOID AVOID AVOID. UPDATE: The reviewer after me felt the need to dispute/discredit my experience, to which I feel I should address. My four pound puppy did not have cuts on her paws before I dropped her off. How do I know this? Because I wash her paws every day after our walks and also check her paws for dirt. I am not blind to my flaws and feel that that remark is unwarranted and inappropriate. I also think "gentle" treatment would not lead to such a choppy haircut. I am still upset with myself for the way my sweet puppy was treated and feel bad that she had to go through that. I haven't taken her to another groomer yet, as I know she will be scared from her prior traumatizing experience at Pupcakes. As I previously stated, AVOID AVOID AVOID. read more

Having tried a few other Buckhead pup boarding spots before, Pupcakes has risen to the top as the best choice for smaller (under 25lb) dogs. Barley always has a blast and comes home exhausted from a stretch of playtime. While Barley enjoyed Kelsey Dog House, he repeatedly smelled and looked like he was on a bender when I picked him up. And though another spot off East Andrews was clean and offered a webcam, the solo sleeping quarters didn't pair well with Barley's personality (as in he lost weight and seemed a little traumatized upon returning home). The staff at Pupcakes is always friendly, the fees are reasonable and they do great grooming too. read more

My dog was just groomed here yesterday and it was wonderful! The price was more than fair considering how matted he was. Unlike some other places, they did not try to charge me per mat. They charged me what was quoted just from his breed alone, so there were no surprises when I picked him up! They also were cheaper than other groomers in the area. After the grooming, which I thought looked great and was exactly what I had asked for, they let the dogs in their indoor play care--- no cages! I will definitely be using them as my go to groomer. Pupcakes has been such as blessing for our small Malti-Tzu, Hercules. We have been coming to Pupcakes for 2 years now and they have always treated us kindly and with respect. Hercules, cannot wait to go inside when we pull into the parking lot and is EXHAUSTED after a long day of play. We also love it when Hercules is groomed at Pupcakes. They are very meticulous and Hercules looks incredible when he is through. When he is groomed, he prances around with his fancy scarf. Overall, Hercules loves everyone that works there (especially Arlene and Gina) and he has also made some great buddies. Without Pupcakes, Hercules would not be the great dog that he is! read more

My dog used to visit here frequently as a puppy and seemed to love it. Due to a move I switched daycares. I called last week with a last minute need for boarding since my current place was full. While they were able to get my dog right in, when I asked where he would stay at night the lady stated that he would be staying in a room with other dogs- not in a separate kennel by himself. I'm not sure why that is allowed or how ANYONE can allow their pets to stay with other pets unsupervised over night -let alone ones they don't even know or have never been around. On top of this, my dog has not been there in 2 whole years. While he is up to date on his vaccinations and flea/tick prevention- no one ever asked about any of that- they just said "yeah, go ahead and bring him." This makes me wonder if they even check on other dogs staying there. For these 2 reasons alone, I do not think we will come back to Pupcakes read more

After taking my dog to Pupcakes for over a year, I decided last week to find somewhere new. I had noticed their care had been slipping and did not feel that my dog (or really most of the dogs) were given attention, as no one seemed to actually be watching them when I returned to pick my dog up. I brought my concerns to the owner and was met with excuses and no action and was essentially told that it was not their fault that my dog was not in the fenced in area (where the dogs play) and that she was right next to their front door (where she easily could have run out) when I came to pick her up. Instead of responding promptly, she discussed the matter with another customer of hers, and she told me so herself. I am very disappointed that efforts were not made to rectify the situation, as I really considered myself and my pup to be loyal customers. I had to bring my dog before 10 AM for the groomers convenience who only works part time two days a week. Needless to say it is incredibly difficult to secure an appointment so when I finally bought my dog in she was somewhat matted. Unfortunately they kept all day from 10-7 and claimed that could not bathe her or brush her hair. What kind of groomer holds your pet hostage and brings them back more matted than they were before dropping them off... I am disgusted with the lack of competence and terrible customer service I experienced at this establishment. read more

We took our 7 month old mini Goldendoodle here for his first haircut. He came out looking great and he looked like he was having the time of his life playing with the other pups when we arrived. The price was very fair for a wash, cut, and nail trim. We will definitely bring him back for his next summer cut! Update: we took him back a few months later for just a wash and nail trim, and he came back smelling great but with an unwanted face trim and no explanation because "the groomer already left." We were also charged more than the promised max of $40 for wash and $10 for a nail trim, presumably for the unwanted face trim. I had heard of this happening other places but was hoping we wouldn't have to deal with it here. read more

I gave this place several tries because I liked the manager Gina, who is no longer there. But the OWNER is horrible. The last time I was there they were locked out of the business and putting dogs in the car until someone came to unlock the place. Yesterday I took my dog to be groomed at 7:30 am and was told he'd be ready by 1or 2. I called and he wasn't. I then went by at 3:30 and they said the groomer was still at her other job and had not arrived and he'd be ready by 5. I called at 5 and they said my dog had already been picked up?! I then spoke to the owner who said it was a mix up and that the hero met was on her way and had a "family" issue. (Other job). She then called at 6:30 to tell me that my dog had never been groomed. I got my dog home to find that SOMEONE had taken a pair of scissors to my dogs ears! They were supposed to be trimmed and were lopped off and crooked. I told the owner I was coming back up but she didn't want to stay or meet me this am. I took to have them straighten it out at 8am this am only to find out the groomer wouldn't be there until 10! I just picked up my dog and he looks terrible! She said she'd discount the grooming and didn't but of course wasn't there. I paid and will never go back and make sure I tell everyone I know never to go there. read more

I dropped my daughter's dog off on my way to work at 8:30. I was scheduled to pick her up at 4:00 when I got off. Around 3:00 I returned a call that I had just missed from Pupcakes the young lady told me that our dog had an allergic reaction to something, her face began to swell and her threw up. Also that our dog was no longer there, the owner Arlene had taken her to their vet. She gave me Arlene's cell number, when I gave her call she told me they had no idea what happened and that they were sorry. I spoke with the vet who told me she would have to give our dog 2 shots and couldn't explain what happened. Once back on the phone with Arlene she asked me for my card number so I wouldn't have to make to stops to pay for the cut. I planned to pay in cash so she waited for me to get to the vet to collect the cash. All while I have a sick dog. I paid because the grooming was done and things happen. It got worse and I had to take our dog to the emergency room two days later because she never stopped throwing up, another bill!! Even though I let Pupcakes know that our dog was still throwing up no one ever called to check on her and when I started calling back for more info because I didn't know how to help my dog, the stories began to change and they became defensive. I was told by Arlene herself that I could have dropped our dog off like that. After I informed her that the second vet educated me on allergic reactions and there is no way she would have had a response to something from 8:30 at 3:00 she still refused to take responsibility for something that happened while my dog was in their care. Needles to say I dropped my dog off for a $60 cut and ended up with vet bills totaling $320, one vet visit I never even authorized and a very scary weekend with a sick dog. So hurt and disappointed and want everyone to know.........and yes our dog is ok!! read more
