I came on here to leave a glowing review, but after reading a majority of Yelpers experiences I'm sort of frightened. While the conditions of this pet shop of sorts are as stated in others reviews, I wasn't off put by the stacked cages, because I just assumed it was a lower budget location. But after reading some of the astronomical prices patrons have been charged- $3000+ it makes no sense. Having owned a Yorkie growing up, I'm more familiar with pricing, and felt what I paid was reasonable. My concern is for how many puppies are actually housed there, seeing as more are in fact kept in the back. On Sun July 1st I purchased my third dog from here. I can't speak to the previous two's health because I had to surrender them to acquaintances of friends due to the fact that I was renting at the time, and my landlord wouldn't let me keep them. But during the brief time in my care, I hadn't experience any health issues. Penelope, the Yorkshire terrier, my wife and I recently purchased is a chipper, well mannered, and fast-learning puppy with a great appetite and curiosity. I suppose I will update my review after her first vet visit this week. And after I bathe her, seeing as someone else took home a puppy whose coat was colored- how unsafe!!! These people are a scam. Purchased 2 dogs in November and were told that if the dogs died within the first year they would be "replaced" at no charge. Dogs were sick multiple times and finally died from reasons not known. Very heartbreaking situation for my family. Called back a month later and was told that an autopsy for each dog would be needed for an "exchange". Why didn't they tell us that at the time of the purchase? Her whole short life she was constantly getting sick, bleeding, diarrhea, allergy shots, weak knees, joint issues, she went through it all. When we picked her up we were uneducated on where these puppies came from and we didn't read any of these reviews. But now that she has passed and we're looking for answers - I back-tracked to the pet store, and it's all making sense. All these dogs are inbred and weak. She was sold to us at 5 weeks old (where she still should have been with her mother), she was tiny and dirty, and that's when her journey of poor health began. I highly recommend Puppy Boutique. 13 1/2 years ago, I had gotten my first Maltese from them and couldn't have been happier with my decision. Recently, we decided to go back for a second pupp and customer service was outstanding. We picked out a cute little morkie. The staff went over everything with us (because of her small size) on how to feed her, care for her, etc. The staff sent us home well prepared with vitamins, food, toys, wee-wee pads, and a cage. To be fair the puppies actually looked really healthy and playful compared to the sickly looking pups at places like Citipups. We were *this* close to actually forking over money for one of the most adorable puppies we've ever seen. HOWEVER, we were horrified seeing that the dog "food" they were sending home with customers was Frosted Flakes and Gatorade. After delving into the reviews, we realized that customers had a lot of health issues with their dogs... genetic issues, parasites, etc. Not willing to take a risk we decided to skip purchasing from here despite having our heart stolen by a little fluffball. We've instead made the decision to go to a reputable breeder. The prices are a little cheaper than a breeder, but the savings upfront is not worth the potential medical bills down the road. If I could give no stars I would. They advertise in Newsday that the puppies are home raised, all $750.00. Not true, it is a puppy store puppy mill. Newsday should be aware that they advertise to save money, claiming that they are private owners. I know that Newsday would charge them a lot more for an ad knowing that they have a Puppy Store Mill. The person told us a specific price for the breed we were going to buy, but when we arrived, it was twice as much the price we were given. and an additional $500.00 totaling $2300, not $450.00. Bought our beautiful yorkie Lola from them in 2007. She died 2 weeks ago. 14 and a half years after we got her. I would buy from them again.

UPDATE: my pup is now 4 years old and she starts to have knee issues, which is common for small dogs but also apparently genetic too. Like other reviewers said, because they are inbred, it's very likely that your pup will have this issue as well and eventually it's a surgery bill. She did get other sickness as well, I know all dogs get sick regardless where you got them. But the knee problem is definitely genetic. read more

I bought a puppy here on Thursday. I got there at 5am and didn't get my puppy until 6pm but it was all worth it. Went to the vet today and my puppy is healthy with no parasites. Be prepared if you really want a puppy get there early to get a number after you get your number they'll call you when your turn is coming up. The guy that was #1 on line was there at 8pm the night before. Also people on the line sometimes get more than 1 puppy and they go really fast because their prices are amazing. I purchased my puppy for Christmas and the wait was rediculous. But, there were many puppies to choose from. They were clean. They washed and cut the puppies nails before they go home. They give you a bag with a few basics for the puppy. My shitzhu had an ear infection but they gave me meds and showed me how to apply it. They answer your questions and are available by phone. They also called me back. I met plenty of people on the line outside the store that were repeat customers. The owner was there she was very hands on. I got my angel pup here on the last day of April 2022. He was the smallest/youngest (freshly 2 months old) puppy in the store but they assured us he was healthy and ready enough to come home ( this ended up being false, as most pomeranian puppies are only safe to leave their MOTHERS after 2 months, yet he had already been traveling through MULTIPLE STATES and stores for OVER A MONTH. He was INCREDIBLY UNDER-DEVELOPED, UNHEALTHY, and WEAK. They gave him a round of "vaccinations" that never actually worked because he was FAR TOO YOUNG. We had to get all of his vaccinations REDONE, and also had him treated for GIARDIA ( PARASITES ) that he picked up at PUPPY BOUTIQUE. All of this happened within the first two months we had him. Recently, our dog was diagnosed with Leptospirosis. An INCREDIBLY deadly infection. Since he was only 9 months old, all of his vets were confident he'd survive. After a WEEK IN THE ICU, he was sent home. Last night, he dropped dead. BECAUSE HE WAS TAKEN FROM HIS MOTHER SO EARLY, WAS CARED FOR SO POORLY BY THIS PLACE, our dog was INCREDIBLY unhealthy and weak. If he was bred and taken care of properly by puppy boutique , if he didn't have to fight giardia from puppy boutique so early on in his life, if he wasn't so physically and developmentally behind, our dog would still be with us today. With all of his medical bills, Puppy Boutiques malpractice in total lost us both 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS AND A DEAD 9 MONTH OLD PUPPY. THIS PLACE IS MURDER. I went there 1/28 and had a positive experience. I arrived at 8 am and received number 38. I would advise that you go earlier if you want a lower number. We didn't actually make it into shop to see dogs until 1:15 pm. They did call us when our number was approaching as we were told to wait in our car. The only reason not giving 5 stars is because of the pricing. I was told a price range for dogs; however, that was not accurate. Then again they know once you're in there, you'll pay! If I could give a 0 I would. This place is a NIGHTMARE that should be shut down. My dog was 900 and he has liver dysfunction . I watched him suffer with seizures , pacing back and forth , drooling , lethargic and just not in good shape. I was told by 3 different vets when he was just 9 weeks old he was going to have a tough life or possibly die young. They suggested operating on him when he got a little bigger but first he would need all sorts of testing and when all is said and done I would be out of pocket in the thousands. Puppies are supposed to be happy and playful ,Not sick. They sell these adorable dogs with problems because they get them from Puppy mills. I should of done my research because other customers went through the same thing as me. The vets told me if I don't operate he would continue to get sick and live a miserable life. I was told to put him down. My husband and I were already attached to this little guy and in love so that was not an option. I went online and did research , and I guess since it does not benefit the veterinary business they don't give you this advice. I have him on a special low protein diet with prescription brand dog food and he takes liquid milk thistle . He has since put on weight , this is a good thing because he was very skinny. He has his good and bad days but he is pretty healthy and happy now. He is a special needs dog and I love him with all my heart. He is full of love , energy and spunk. He is going to be 3 years old in a couple months and he is part of the family. It's heartbreaking to see your puppy or young dog get so sick. Bare with me there is a lot to digest here but writing this in hopes it helps those wondering about this place. So my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place during our search for a yorkie. Of course we gave them a call and were told that they have yorkies starting from 750 up and that they have a bunch of puppies coming on that Thursday. After this phone call I looked through all the reviews on this place on google and it seemed like a coin flip. It seemed that we would need to get there early to beat the huge lines that amass. So my boyfriend got to the store at 1am and began waiting. He was second in line. At this point I thought for sure we would be able to have the first pick and find a yorkie in our budget. Well at around 9 am roughly he finally gets in and they say the yorkies are starting at 1200 and the teacup yorkies are starting at 1600. The cheapest dog they had was a Bichon shih tzu mix for 950. This mix looked very lethargic and sickly. Totally felt like a trap. Everyone there in line is waiting hours on end thinking they are getting this great price but they just want you to get your foot in the door. Well, we fell for it and picked out a male yorkie already neutered. ** no puppy should be neutered at 8 weeks, need to be at least 4 months!!!!!!! Learned this from vet afterwards** Anyways the price they gave for my yorkie was 1200, we gave in, we waited all night and weren't leaving without a pup. So we begin signing all these contracts and they prepared a take home kit. They gave food, Gatorade, and Rice Krispies ! Gatorade.... no I don't think so, known to cause diarrhea when given to dogs. Very odd. Still we continued through and all said and done with all extra fees we were in for 1500. Definitely not what I thought when I was told over the phone 750 and up for yorkies lol. Well at this point we were just happy to finally have a puppy. That week we take him to vet for his stitches (from neuter) to be removed and also bring in a fecal sample for testing. GIARDIA. yep our brand new baby had giardia. I was extremely upset and angry. Luckily we caught it fast and got it under control but I am convinced every dog from that day probably had it as well. Fast forward a couple months now and our boy is doing amazing and has had no other issues. I do believe the owners of puppy boutique know EXACTLY what they are doing and will never be held accountable either. Everyone is lured by the prices. So the reviews from this place are scary but I have to share my experience. When I got to puppy boutique it was CROWDED! We got there when they opened & there was already a line out the door. The girl working the door gave us a # & we waited for our # to be called, very similar to the DMV process. From the time our # was called to then the paperwork process, we were there for about 5+ hrs! It was hectic! When your # is called, u tell the girl what kind of pup u want, she goes to the back & comes out holding options. They also have pups on display but because the room is so crowded, its hard to even move around the room. When u choose a pup, they put a bow on the hair to basically let other potential buyers know she/he isnt available anymore. The reason I gave 5 stars is because we got our lil girl "Dory" here and she is a blessing!!!! Shes very special, very healthy, loving & beyond happy. We had no issues with her health or temperament. Not one!!! I feel sad to read reviews that some of the puppies from here got sick but I can honestly say we had no bad experience with Dorys health. Now I will say this, I did call to find out when they would be receiving a new shipment of pups & I was there the next morning. Dory wasn't at the puppy boutique for more than 24hrs. I don't know if that was a factor or not but maybe that's something you can plan to do to get a puppy that's there the least amount of time. I can't picture my world without my Dory in it & Im grateful for this place because had I not gone here, I wouldn't have the most perfect little dogter in the world. read more
