Our dog contracted kennel cough and got a bald patch on his back after we boarded him over 4th of July weekend. As shown in the videos, which were taken within a couple of hours of us picking him up, something is clearly wrong with our dog coughing his lungs out but nobody noticed. There's also a bald patch of skin on his back. When we contacted Puppy Loft about these symptoms- they first said it was because our dog barked a lot and played hard with other dogs, and then said he must have gotten sick that day. I understand that as pet owners group boarding always involves risks of our dogs getting sick, and while the Puppy Loft team are nice people, how they handled it - negligence, refusing to accept any responsibility and brushing things off - was really disappointing. read more

We were loyal clients for over six years, but after a recent grooming appointment that was less than satisfactory, we will not be returning. Like many others who have left their reviews about Puppy Loft, I have to agree that the manager, Lori is partly why we didn't feel like valued clients. After I brought my dog home from the grooming appointment, I noticed the areas above her eyes were red and she kept rubbing them. In addition, the haircut was completely uneven and choppy. This wasn't the first time she came back uneven, but we usually just let it grow in and shape it up ourselves. I wrote a letter to the owner of Puppy Loft, explaining everything and included photos of my dog's eyes and the haircut for documentation. Lori responded 4 days later. She informed me that "Some dogs are more anxious or agitated than others and tend to move a lot during grooming, which makes more difficult to reach even lines in some occasions." I guess that explains the uneven haircut? She also told me she spoke with the groomer who has been taking care of my dog over the years, his report that day, "just the usual that she moves quite a lot and had a few hair mats." So that explains why she came back with her eyes red and patchy? Lori, I know how dogs behave under stressful situations I have two of them. I was inquiring as to why I sent my dog to get groomed at your business and she came back looking like she tried to cut her own bangs. The runaround I got of how the grooming process works and an explanation of pre existing skin conditions/allergies basically conveyed to me that Puppy Loft takes no responsibility. In the end I was offered 40% off my next grooming appointment. What good is that going to do me if I'm never going back! read more

Puppy Loft is amazing. We've been sending our dog Alou there for over 7 years. The staff is amazingly attentive and caring. Example, when it's snowing or raining hard, Jason carries Alou under his jacket. They're also amazingly accommodating. One of the best benefits is that they have a close relationship with West Chelsea Vet Hospital across the street. Recently, we didn't notice that Alou had a red eye when he went to day care. Puppy Loft called us to let us know, then brought him to the Vet and back, and called us to let us know what the Dr. said. They truly, truly care. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't call out Lori and Jonathan for incredible service, attentiveness, and care. Alou loves it here, along with lots of dogs in our building. They always greet my dog with excitement and love; she's so happy to go there to see her friends, both human and furry. When I had to leave town unexpectedly for a family crisis on New Year's Eve, they took my dog for the holiday without question, even though they were closed. THE WORST!!!!!! Would give this place zero stars if I could. I talked to them for ten minutes about my dog's haircut and the length it was going to be and they said they were only going to trim her and that if that if anything was going to be different they would call me before they cut her. Well they didn't call and instead they completely shaved her!!! Which is exactly what I specifically said not to do no matter what. When I picked her up they didn't even seem to care or explain. I don't often leave reviews but in this case I think this guys deserve to get 5 stars. Have been using them few days a month for more then a year and can state they do a great job on keeping the dogs busy and happy. Very friendly staff and very responsible too (it took me a lot of papers to get my dog admitted first time and thats a good sign) I even had few situations when I would leave home before they are open and they have a service to pick up and drop off the dog. Having left a copy of my keys with them actually "saved me" in an emergency where I was out of town and they hand over keys to my friends, waiting on their closing hours, IN A SATURDAY! Horrible grooming, horrible service. My puppy came back looking horrendous and completely different than what I had expected and communicated. His eyes also started drooping right after his cut so I now need to get him checked with the vet. He came back with his fur uneven and he no longer resembled a cockapoo (reference photo). After complaining to the manager that they cut off 3 inches + of my puppy's fur instead of 1 inch as i communicated, she rudely criticized me for asking for a 1 inch cut as that qualifies as a "trim" not a cut. To be honest, because of the convenience of the location, I may have come back and given this place a second try. However, the attitude of the woman who works here is outrageous and utterly unprofessional. If you want an ounce of decent customer service, avoid this place by all means. My dog is the most important member of my family. I've never owned a pet so you can imagine how much I love my dog, Hoffman. My partner and I adopted him from a shelter and had him trained to be a therapy dog. He comes to my office three days a week and sits in the waiting room greeting patients. Occasionally, we've had to board him at the Puppy Loft for the weekend. Every time we pick him up, he is so excited and happy that I truly believe they treat my dog well. Now when I walk him there, he pulls on his leash the minute we turn the corner, because he's so excited to get inside. The owners and staff are always pleasant even when I call three or four times a day to check on him. Whenever we see one of their walkers in the street, Hoffman gets so excited. They even remember him by name. Of course I don't really know what goes on at the Puppy Loft because I'm not there with him, but the excitement and eagerness Hoffman displays each time I take him back says it all. read more

I am consistently impressed with the service that I receive: - Milo is always enthusiastic to see Lori and Jonathan which tells me that he enjoys visiting Puppy Loft - His grooming is excellent - Lori and Jonathan are great with last-minute plan changes. I have returned from trips early on two occasions, and they accommodated early check-outs. They also have a great after-hours check-out policy that has allowed me to pick up Milo after they close for the evening and save him from being boarded any longer than necessary I cannot imagine taking Milo anywhere else! read more

Puppy loft has made my life so much easier. My dog has separation anxiety and hates being alone or in new places, but he loves the puppy loft. He will literally drag me down the street when we get on the block. I have boarded him here numerous times, they always take him, even with no notice. The staff is attentive, and so nice. We will run into people on the street who I don't even know who work at puppy loft and they will say hi to my dog. And I love that they have happy hour, when you can drop off your dog for 2 hours and its $15. That's a great deal for an afternoon of running errands. The only downfall is they use some sort of air freshener to keep the place smelling good and its so strong that when my dog comes home he smells very perfumey. But it could be way worse! read more

I can only speak for grooming, but I would never recommend this place. The first time I brought my Poodle there, they gave him back to me looking like a mess, but it was half off for the first visit so I didn't complain and brought him back a second time since it's right down the street from my office. This time, knowing I was paying full price, I gave the lady at the counter detailed instructions on his cut - shave the body, trim face and head, leave the tail and ears, pretty simple. Poodle cut, just not so severe. When I picked him up, he sort of looked like a lion, but it was closer than the first time. I brought him back for the third and final time yesterday. After giving the nice lady at the front desk very specific instructions on what I wanted this nameless faceless groomer to do, when I picked up my Poodle, he looked like a Schnauzer. He has a flat top and a mustache. I asked her why they did this and she told me that the groomer thought his hair was too poofy on top. Again, this is a Poodle, not a Terrier. I don't know if what the customer wants gets lost in translation on the way back to the groomers, who we aren't allowed to meet, but I'm done experimenting with this place, which is unfortunate because it's blocks away from my job. read more

I'm surprised to see any negative reviews, but I guess that's because I use Puppy Loft for daycare and not grooming? We started going to the Puppy Loft on the recommendations of many of our friends from the local dog park, and we have never been disappointed. They have recently hired new staff, and I was nervous about that at first, but eery person I meet genuinely seems to like my dog, they call him by name, like an old episode of Cheers! The report cards are awesome, with usually hilarious candid shots of my dog happily playing during the day. He is usually WIPED after playtime here - sometimes even after just going for 2 hours (their "happy hour," which is only $15!) Could't be happier, and neither could my dog! read more

Even when we just walk by he will cry outside the door and beg to go in! Puppy Loft love streams the play room which is great because I like to check on my little guy every so often. We have used Puppy Loft for their dog boarding service when we go away and can't bring our dog. While we are very happy with the service, including the updates we get sent to us without asking, the best endorsement comes from our dog. She clearly loves going there, and practically bolted from us to head to the doggie rec area in the back last time we dropped her off. She was clean and happy when we picked her up. Nelson has been incredibly accommodating and understanding throughout the intake process of my puppy and adult-dog. He has addressed and acknowledged a few needs and it's incredibly thoughtful that he's been able to keep the place up during a difficult time with COVID-19 and ongoing protests. Our dog literally runs to Puppy Loft. It makes us a little jealous how much he loves the staff there. The best part of it for us is the security - unlike other daycares they provide a webcam to watch your dog the entire day. It definitely makes our day better and makes missing him a little easier. Kudos to the Puppy Loft crew for taking such good care of Louie (12 year old Havanese poodle) for two weeks over the holiday break. He returned in fine form. Louie needs four heart medications twice a day and from his condition they administered these consistently and expertly. He was beautifully washed and groomed. Louie has been going to Puppy Loft for many years. He knows the neighborhood - his vet (West Chelsea) is right across the road. I recommend highly, thanks Nathan and crew. read more
