Maybe I messed up with having my first pupusas outside of my Guatemalans friends house at panchitas in SF because I spent years trying to find something I didn't have to drive 45 min to until I caved when my pupusa craving demanded I find a local spot. Looked up some reviews and based on how many people complained about their location and parking, opted to place an order for pick up. These are definitely more on the thicker masa side than I've had before but I think that's why I liked them so much! It also makes eating them much easier since it holds up better when your using your hands. I had a revuelta (chicharrón and cheese), a plain cheese, and a cheese and beans. Gotta get them all to see what their about! I'd eat all three again but their revuelta will be my go to. Their curtido and the salsa rojo are made at moms good too. Would I say these are the most authentic in the area? No but their still good and worthy of at least trying once. read more

IMHO The Pupuseria Delmy food truck sets up shop in my east foothills' neighborhood, on Story Road between Fleming and Machado, on Sundays. The food truck is parked in a gravel driveway/parking "lot". Look for the tall billowing sign boasting "Pupusas" and three flags along the fence. My curiosity finally got the best of me when I saw a stand-up sandwich sign on the street saying, "Open Now". We drove in and parked behind the food truck although you can park on the street. We were handed a menu and were told "Solo pupusas". I suppose they offer other items in other locations, but I was fine just trying a pupusa, having never enjoyed one before. We ordered two carne asada w/cheese pupusas, $4 each. I paid with cash. The young lady had to dig into her purse for change. LOL I tipped the change into the tip jar. They have some tables and chairs under a canopy to wait or dine. There is also a portable sink to wash your hands and a porta potty nearby. It took maybe 10 minutes to get our order, as these are made-to-order. Our to-go order was really hot and came with a bag of ice-cold tomato salsa and a bag of slaw, (which I later learned is curtido.) Since this was the first time trying a pupusa before, we had no idea how to eat it and what to do with the curtido and salsa. Got pupusas here the other day, chicharron con queso. We were trying a different place because the pupuseria we usually go to was too far away. These were 50/50. My family liked them, but they said they weren't the best. For the price, they were okay. A little smaller than what we're used to. The only bad thing I could say is they didn't like the cheese. They said it wasn't the same kind of cheese, and the meat wasn't very seasoned. Other than that, they're pretty decent. I probably won't go back again, but they're not bad. Just, they're not just what we're used to. A little bit more flavor, a little cheesier. Not as much filling as we're used to. It had been a while since we came to Delmy's mostly because we don't frequent this area of San Jose. It was super bowl Sunday and we had a great morning at Hellyer Park and we all agreed this was the place for lunch- my gosh this place is poppin! I called ahead and 25 min later the deliciousness was ready! I got mine of chicharron and beans (no cheese). They have two sauces on the table, on is the tomato based one and one is a spicy salsa. Both with the curtido is the best I have ever had. It is super crunchy and fresh and not too vinegary. The pupusas are so toasty on the inside and very large with lots of filling. First time trying this place out and I can honestly say their pupusas are top tier. Although the masa is bit on the thicker side, they loaded up with their filling which makes up for it. I love a good revuelta, but my favorite is the queso con loroco. Also their fruit salad agua Fresca was good and refreshing, but you definitely need a boba like straw for this as the fruit tends to get stuck on the thinner straws. If you are looking for some authentic Salvadoran pupusas, this is the place to get it. There are tons of different pupusas to choose from. I got the carnitas one and the Revueltas one. The outside was crunchy, but the dough was soft when you bite into it. The filling was hot, cheese melt in your mouth, carnitas was super tender. The Salvadorean style fries was delicious as well. Along with the pupusas they have tamales which are really good. They take phone orders so order before you get here! Service is decent, everything is made by hand so be patient. The pupusas are bomb.com and I'm definitely coming back here! Every order comes with salsa (spicy or mild) and plenty of curtido. They also sell some agua frescas and have free coffee. In general, there isn't much seating but I went when there were two spots for me and my partner. If you eat it there, you'll get a bottle of salsa and chose the spicy one - it was spicyand gooood! The masa for the pupusas are moist and the outside is crispy. You even get those little pieces of burnt cheese that oozed out and got caramelized on the grill. Yum. For the price and size, the pupusas are super worth it and yummy! They have a variety of pupusas combinations but ofc I stick with the revuelta. Good amount of cheese and filling and cooked to perfection. The side of curtido is good too! Different set up here, you pay inside at the insurance shop and they cook the pupusas outside in the food truck. Btw parking can be tricky. It's a small little lot and very tight to maneuver. I've been on the hunt for a good pupuseria in the South Bay since the spot I used to go to in Santa Clara burned down and this place is the best I've had. It's a hole in the wall off of Monterey highway and you sometimes have to go into the building to order and pay for your pupusas, but their food is awesome. I usually get their revueltas and the size of the pupusa is comparable to the price. They have many different combinations to try, but this definitely hits the spot when I'm craving pupusas. read more

I added the toppings and the sauce and to my next one and it all came together like a marriage made in heaven.
