First time trying this place out and I can honestly say their pupusas are top tier. Although the masa is bit on the thicker side, they loaded up with their filling which makes up for it. I love a good revuelta, but my favorite is the queso con loroco. Also their fruit salad agua Fresca was good and refreshing, but you definitely need a boba like straw for this as the fruit tends to get stuck on the thinner straws. Nonetheless this place is exceptionally tasty, I'll definitely be ordering from this place more often.

Not my favorite but definitely worth a try. They have so many pupusa combinations that not a lot of places have made to order. I chose the Chicharrones and a side of yuca fries. I was hoping for more flavor on both and the sauces didn't quite do it for me (I like a bold spice) but again def worth a try. With a price point that low, you can't really go wrong.

Best pupusas in town! I had the carne asada with cheese and it's really good! Their orange sauce is spicy but you want to keep eating more. This is a cash spot and the price is about $4.00-$5.00 per pupusas. My favorite spot!

I love this pupuseria. I tried bean/cheese and jalapeño/cheese. It was a to go order and they gave me generous amounts of curtido and tomato salsa. The pupusas were fresh and not oily (which I appreciated). Wait was about 15-20 minutes as it was a little busy (dinner time). I will be back again. It was a cheap meal and it was delicious.

Ordered from their doordash services. The pupusas were delicious they were a bit soggy but that's usually what happens when you order from DoorDash. I still enjoyed the food and the salsa that it came with was spicy and packed with flavor! I ordered a side of plantanos fritos. They came with lechera on the side. Soooo fire. Those were the highlight of my meal. Will definitely order again! Affordable and good portion sizes

One of those spots you just seem to drive by in the middle of the night on Monterey road and always crowded. It's hard to find pupusa in San Jose and this is one of the few. Service was not too wet but not too slow, just okay. Pork skin/cheese/beans: 5/5 ($3.50) Jalapeño and cheese: 4/5 ($3.50) Beef and cheese: 3/5, meat was extremely dry ($4) They do not cheap out on the cold slaw sides.

Still one of my favorite options. Quick and conveniently close to me. Service is always good especially if you use DoorDash. Ambiance is small, but if you're looking for a quick grab... I highly recommend.

The pupusas here are delicious and worth the wait! I was shocked that I was able to find a good pupusa spot in San Jose after I left San Francisco. Along with the pupusas they have tamales which are really good. They take phone orders so order before you get here! Service is decent, everything is made by hand so be patient. They do have tables and chairs to eat out front of their truck, but I typically get my dinner to go. This spot is cash only so be prepared! One point off for being cash only.

The pupusas are bomb.com and I'm definitely coming back here! Every order comes with salsa (spicy or mild) and plenty of curtido. They also sell some agua frescas and have free coffee. In general, there isn't much seating but I went when there were two spots for me and my partner. If you eat it there, you'll get a bottle of salsa and chose the spicy one - it was spicyand gooood! The masa for the pupusas are moist and the outside is crispy. You even get those little pieces of burnt cheese that oozed out and got caramelized on the grill. Yum. [Chicharron] This one was flavorful, cheesy, and delicious. Will def order this one again! [Carnitas] Tasty but I wouldn't order again so I could try another flavor. It was also cheesy but there wasn't much meat so some bites were just cheesy masa with strands of meat.

When you're craving pupusas and not willing to drive, delmy is the spot! The pupusas are always fresh and the prices can't be beat! I love the cheese ones the most.

The platter includes one pupusa of your choice, one pastelito, one chicken tamal, one corn tamal, fried yuca with chicharron, one empanada, plantains, sour cream, pickled cabbage, and pickled red onions. I chose the pork, bean, and cheese pupusa, which ended up being one of my favorite items. It tasted authentic with great tortilla texture and flavor. The pastelito was nice and crispy. The chicken tamal was good and similar to a Mexican tamale, but with a softer masa. The corn tamal was sweet and tasted like a cornbread muffin. The fried yuca was good and had a similar texture to potatoes. The chicharron was okay and was a bit bland. The empanada was more of a dessert, as it was sweet with a custard-like filling. The plantains were cooked perfectly and had a nice balanced of sweetness. Also ordered one pupusa with pork and cheese. Personally, I prefer the version that includes beans, but this one was still worth trying. The sopa de pata is a cow feet soup that includes cabbage, carrots, tripe, and yuca, served with tortilla, dried chili peppers, and dried oregano on the side. The broth was flavorful, but there were a lot of vegetables. The cow feet did not have a lot of tendon, so it was basically two pieces of bone that took up a lot of space in the bowl. The tripe was soft, and I like how it was prepared well without any unpleasant smell. The horchata Salvadoreña was refreshing, but okay. Plenty of parking. Customer service was good, and both the waitress and kitchen staff were friendly and welcoming. The indoor dining is small and can fit about 20 to 25 people. Overall, this is a solid spot for Salvadoran food!

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!

It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. I thought it would be hard to search Mexican restaurants one by one to pick out the ones that serve empanadas; I was wrong. One easy search and BAE pops up. I was very happy to arrive at a private parking lot instead of looking for street parking or desperately searching for a parking structure. BAE is clean, organized, and neat; the interior is more like a cafe than a messy mom-and-pop restaurant. The empanadas are clearly displayed on the cashier's side, each with a label underneath. There are corners decorated for selfies or simply a good mood cheering. Overall, it's visually appealing. We ordered the Chicken and Mushroom, Potato Egg and Cheese, and Bacon Egg and Cheese. The cashier was polite and offered us some sauce choices. They are $0.5 each. We chose Tsatziki which has Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil and dill. It wasn't our cup of tea. We chose take out and each empanada was nicely warmed, wrapped and clearly labeled in each paper. The empanadas I would rate them in this order: potato egg and cheese, chicken mushroom, bacon egg and cheese. The Potato Egg and Cheese has diced onions inside, but it's soft and warm, very balanced in flavor and texture. Top notch comfort food. The Chicken and Mushroom filling was creamier than I thought. I was not expecting a white cream cheese element in it, nevertheless, chunky chicken and mushroom slices are solid. I was most disappointed at Bacon Egg and Cheese. It was too salty and the egg looked and tasted like those overcooked dry breakfast eggs from Comfort Inn breakfast where it came out from some kind of liquid egg box. In summary, location, service, interior 4 star; food 3.5 stars.
