    Al pastor street tacos
    Amber N.

Came here on a Friday night because I was in the area and by my surprise it was empty. We got our food very quick and it was really good. I got the al pastor tacos and they have their own sauce bar. I got the green sauce and it was so spicy! I didn't expect it. The place has plenty of seating and a decent size parking lot. They also open late too.

Updated as of 12/1/2025 Who would've thought I'd move across the street. Lol. I come here almost bi-monthly and I just can't resist their Shrimp Tacos. It's pretty freaking good. Although, personally I feel the price for a shrimp taco being $8+ a pop that's somewhat steep, but I just keep coming back. My BF's order has been more consistent vs the last few times we came in the past. Normally he orders the Super Burrito, but there have been many times where either the Sour Cream and/or Avocado has been missing, and at those points we said we were going to limit our time coming here, but as of recently, things have been on point. And we're happy. So honestly, I'm really glad to be down the street from here.

This past Saturday I was able to enjoy and very large and tasty super burrito . It had plenty of flavor, the meat (carne asada) was delicious. I was a happy camper. I would recommend it and will definitely have it again.

I had a great experience at Araujo. The staff were incredibly nice, and as someone from Vietnam, I really appreciated how the cashier took the time to present different options and explain everything clearly. The portions are huge, and the food is delicious. The flautas are perfectly crunchy, the beans are cooked just right, and the rice is seasoned really well. It's the perfect spot for a satisfying lunch.

The tripas tacos were perfectly crispy and super tasty--definitely a must-try. I also had a beef taco, and it was just as good--juicy, flavorful, and topped with a spicy sauce that gave it a nice kick without overpowering the meat. The atmosphere really adds to the experience. The open kitchen setup looks fantastic--you can see everything being freshly prepared, which is always a plus. There's also a big TV screen, perfect for watching a movie or catching a football game while you eat. Great spot for both food and fun!

I loved the molcajete!! It was very filling and cooked nicely. I also recommend their carne asada fries. I do wish it came with a little more sour cream but other than that it was great. They do have a sauce bar which I absolutely love. The service were quick to serve as well and the restaurant was very clean including the restrooms

RAW Chorizo in my burrito today. How did they not notice.
    Chelle N.

I ordered through work,a Chorizo breakfast burrito and after taking some bites I noticed something was off. Opened up the burrito and realized the entire burrito had RAW chorizo, please see the picture attached. I am currently sitting here hoping I do not get sick and disgusted that this would be served to people. I am hoping no one else ordered the Chorizo today. I tried calling and got the run around on the phone.

Great food! Great service. They catered for our family gathering of 40. Everyone went back for seconds and were raving about how good the food was

Super Burrito with refried beans substitute

My all time favorite place to grab a super burrito quickly!! I've been coming here continuously for seven years and still crave it many days. I love the blend of the carne asada with their refried beans, avocado, sour cream, and rice. I also really enjoy their regular tacos. They are absolutely delicious. The pineapple agua fresca is also so refreshing and is needed everytime I come here. My favorite thing about this place are their sauces. They have a sauce bar where you can try as many as you'd like as well as unlimited radishes. The habanero sauce is super spicy but it's still one of my favorites. My favorite sauce has to be their ranchera sauce which is the chunky red one. I have never had salsa like this anywhere and it makes my burrito 1000x better. The service is also so fast and the workers here have always been super friendly. Each time I come here (which has probably been over 200 times) has been amazing. I love this place and everything about it.

Chilaquiles with chorizo was the best. My party liked their tacos and sopes. The corn tortillas are homemade! Gotta get here and explore the menu.

The avocado salsa looked not as bright colored as I remembered it being :(

Standard Asada taco. Decent carnitas taco. The tacos here are quite pricy though. Al pastor super burrito was the best item.

Can I buy the sauce? I love the habanero sauce.

Yes. You can buy a 32oz container of any of the salsa flavors. We provide them for catering orders. However, you should know that there are no preservatives in it, so we wouldn't recommend you keep it for more than a few days. Eat fast! :-)

What kind of cheese is in the tacos? Thanks!

Our tacos do not have cheese. Our super tacos (and burritos, quesadillas, etc) use queso Monterey. (Basically monterey jack.)

That kind of reliability is more rare than it should be, and it's worth calling out. The tacos themselves are the main event. The Carne Asada, Suadero, and Al Pastor are all standouts, but the Al Pastor especially earns its spot. They serve it with pineapple, which is the way it's meant to be done and a detail that tells you they actually care about getting it right. These are easily some of the best tacos in San Jose, and I don't say that lightly given how much competition there is in the South Bay. But the drinks alone might be worth the trip. Their Horchata and Agua Fresca are genuinely among the best I've had anywhere in the Bay Area and that's a real statement in a region with no shortage of excellent options. The salsa bar is a nice bonus: a self-serve setup where you scoop what you want into containers, and they send you off with baggies of fresh cilantro and onion so you can finish the tacos exactly how you like them. They actively encourage you to take plenty, which tells you a lot about the kind of place this is. The staff is warm and welcoming on top of everything else. Truly one of the best taco trucks around. Next time only cabeza and al pastor in taco form. Panchito is a nice taco truck located next to the tire shop. They have extremely nice staff that really make you feel at home. I usually come here whenever I am craving Mexican food and sometimes it is hit or miss. The tacos were generously filled, the tortillas were delicious, and the aguas frescas were refreshing. There was a small mix-up with our order at first. Our waitress accidentally thought we had only ordered six tacos instead of twelve, so we initially received six tacos, one side of rice and beans, and were still waiting on our drinks. When she came by and noticed one of us wasn't eating, she asked if we were waiting on anything. We explained that we were still supposed to receive six more tacos, another side of rice and beans, and our drinks. She apologized, brought our drinks over right away, and the rest of our food came out quickly. Even with the mix-up, everything was handled professionally, and we appreciated how quickly she fixed it. We originally sat outside, but decided to move inside because of the bugs. The inside of the restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Since it was the Fourth of July, it wasn't busy, which made for a relaxed dining experience. The salsa bar was being prepped, but our waitress gladly brought us fresh limes when we asked. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and even though there was a small mistake with our order, it was corrected quickly without any issues. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Cali Spartan if you're looking for delicious tacos and great customer service.

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.
