    My son and I stopped at L'Roco Grill to get food to go. This was our first time here. He ordered his go-to cheese quesadilla, which comes with a salad, and I ordered the Revuelta pupusa, which has beans, cheese, salsa, and chicharron. It came with curtado (a tangy cabbage slaw) and salsa. Service was great. The lady who took our order was very friendly and had a smile on her face. They have three monitors to watch news or sports. Also, house special drinks I'll have to try next time. My son's quesadilla was on point. How can you go wrong. It had lots of cheese and was crispy. I'm surprised that it came with a salad. Honestly, the pupusa was mostly beans. I didn't taste the salsa nor the chicarron. The beans were good though.

    We came here for lunch. I thought that it wouldn't be crowded,but I was wrong. We were seated quickly. I have been waiting to try the pupusas. We ordered a couple of different kinds along with some plantains. Also ordered a carne asada plate. The carne asada plate was ok . It was really salty. But the pupusas were really good. The plantains came with a side of sour cream. I thought that it different,but it really worked well together. The house made horchata was also different, it had more of a sesame taste. It was different but good

    Stopped in late to pick up a snack And order three of their good pupusas. The food is still good, the only problem is I always get them burnt. I have to clean off the black spots making the size smaller. Also the prices are up

    L'Roco My World Local Salvadorean spot that's been in operation since 2022, and has been on my radar since. It wasn't until the recent closing of our favorite pupuseria, Los Dubón (RiP), that drove us to finally visit. L'Roco comes with some high-aclaim, as they were featured last October in the SF Chronicle as "The Best Pupusas in The Bay Area." This is no small feat, as getting the Chronicle to notice anything south of Milbrae is a small miracle unto itself. The Good: *Huge shared lot with plenty of parking. There is also street parking, but personally, I'd stay in the lot. *Simple, classy décor and I love the wood chairs. The blackboard where visitors can write on where they're from is a nice touch, too. *Service was outstanding. The server (owner?) was friendly, efficient, and competent. *Reservations thru the Yelp app *Horchata Salvadoreña was nothing like the Mexican version, as it's more savory than sweet, and features peanuts, sesame seeds, brown rice, and cinnamon. Kinda like a mole in a drink! Really, really good. It's made in-house and definitely worth a try. *Curtido (Salvadorean cabbage slaw) was good and fresh. *Pupusas were fantastic, as advertised. The right amount of crisp, cheese and tasty fillings. The eponymous Loroco (vine flowers) and cheese was my favorite of the bunch, but the Chicharrón and cheese was also equally fantastic. *Salvadorean food isn't know for spice, so if you want a bit of heat ask for their "picante" hot sauce made with arból chilies. *You can also get the Pupusas made with rice flour, for an extra upcharge. *Gallina Asada (grilled chicken) was actually quite fantastic and they even managed to keep the chicken breast juicy, despite the obvious char in the photo. The Meh: *Most everything is made to-order so don't expect things to come out lickety-split. Trust me, it's worth the wait. *No outdoor seating The Ugly: *As eluded to earlier, the neighborhood is kinda sketchy so make sure to lock your car and stay off the street. Conclusion: One door closes, and another opens as we found our new go-to Pupuseria. Highly recommended.

    Food is delicious but unfortunately twice I have had to ask for my entire dish to be served. I don't know why the Parrillada Salvadoreña Isn't served with the chorizo. It's says it on the online menu and on the beautifully made black board. I got charged extra for it. It's already one of the most expensive plates to order at this restaurant and I have to pay extra just for the Chorizo that is advertised that comes with it. I'm still going to patronize this place and take my dates here but I wish they would either lower the price, substitute or include the chorizo. That's my only gripe about this place, maybe the flickering lights on the ceiling is too much and kinda annoying for the ambiance.

    I've been wanting to try cebada for a while now, so my mom and I decided to come here for dinner over the weekend. The drinks were really good - the cebada tasted similar to Mexican horchata, while the horchata salvadoreña had a more nutty sesame flavor to it. I was craving pupusas, so I ordered the l'roco combo #2, which was more filling than I expected. I had never tried loroco before, and it added a slight asparagus/artichoke flavor to the loroco and cheese pupusa. All the food came out nice and hot, and the plantains were great as well. The servers were all friendly, and while it took a bit for the food to come out, it was well worth the wait. Will definitely be coming again in the future to try more of their dishes!

    Finally tried this place out for a late lunch on Saturday and left happily satisfied! Food took some time but it was worth the wait. I had a combo plate of pupusas and plantains. Pupusas were tasty and the plantains, so good! My husband loved the steak tacos with rice & beans. I ordered the coconut horchata drink(?) and it was really good with big pieces of coconut - not too sweet at all. Just wish I had some rum to go with it! Service was friendly and helpful. Place was clean and decorated for the holidays. Great neighborhood restaurant with lots of parking, just not in a very desirable location.

    This is my first time trying Salvadorian food, and I'm glad this place has given me a good experience. Location is located in a small sketchish plaza but there is plenty of parking spots. The service was amazing- the workers are super friendly. For the food, I got the L'roco grill combo #2 which included 2 pupusas and plantians, antojitos platter and empandas. I also got a horchata to try. My favorite things were the pupusas and the plantians!! I highly recommend. The food wasn't greasy which was good, but it is very filling.

    The food looked great when it came out, but the flavor was extremely disappointing. I never add salt to my meals, yet I had to this time just to make it edible, even to the curtido, We ordered the platter with pupusas, tamales, pastel, yuca with chicharrones and an empanada. Aside from the sweet item, which was decent, everything else was bland and lacked proper seasoning. The chicharrones were undercooked, which was unacceptable and ruined the dish entirely. For the prices they charge, the quality and flavor were nowhere near worth it. Overall, a very overpriced and disappointing experience.

    Pupusas were good here! I loved the plantains. I'd come back for more. It's cute inside. Service was good. I can't complain. Parking was easy with their own lot shared with the small plaza.

    Super friendly service and the food was good! The food was flavorful, not greasy but definitely filling. I dunno if we ordered the right dishes though because I saw another table that had a delicious looking plate. Will have to check it out another time. Only downside is the area of the restaurant is a bit sketch.

    This was our first experience with Salvadoran food, and it was a delightful treat. We randomly selected the restaurant based on its cuisine type during an impromptu visit to the area, and we're so glad we did. Initially, it was not what we had expected just going by Yelp, and when we arrived at the shopping strip, where the restaurant was tucked away facing the inner streets of an older neighborhood. Though the area felt a bit sketchy, we were hungry and eager for a new food adventure. As we arrived just as dinner hours began, we were greeted warmly and immediately shown to a table. Looking around, we noticed that every single patron appeared to be Salvadoran, and no one spoke English to one another--this was a reassuring sign. The server's English was quite limited, making it an adventure to navigate the menu and discover what most of the dishes were. We decided to order the Antojitos Platter, Yuca, and the Bean and Cheese Pupusa to sample a variety of dishes. Everything was a flavor explosion, with delightful textures and divine presentation. Alongside our meal, they brought out a jar of housemade pickled cabbage, which added a refreshing touch to our plates. We also tried their house drinks, Salvadoran Horchata and Ensalada de Frutas, made with fruits and spices; they were surprisingly interesting and complemented the food perfectly. We felt as though we'd been transported to South America that evening, thanks to this wonderful hidden gem of a kitchen.

    Service and food was top notch. Crispy pork is a must try. I had the carne asada which was tender, and perfectly seasoned.

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!

Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. They have a good variety of Peruvian empanadas and the place smelled really good. My boyfriend and I shared the Beef, Lomo Satado, and the Peach Blueberry! The flavors in both the Beef and Lomo was perfect with the seasoning and what was surprising is the Mango Chutney which made it even more tastier; it had a sweet but tangy profile. The peach and blueberry as a sweet treat was a perfect close out to our lunch.
